  • USB Ports are not working in Windows 7

I am on a MacBook and I installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp. It is working amazingly. I love all the new features and the look.
But all my usb devices are not working. I have a external HD and a Zune and a printer plugged in and nothing shows up.
I have tried with my usb hub and without. Doesn't make a difference.
BUT, they do show up in the Hardware and Devices place. Like I can remove them but not explore them.
I have installed all the drivers for bootcamp and everything.
    Please help.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,
    Luc

I updated bootcamp and installed windows 7 on it, and upgraded the boot camp assistant on the Windows 7 to 3.1. but when ever i plug in a Flash drive into the upper slot it does not seems to recognize it and there is no safely remove icon on the task bar, but i am able to see it in my computer. but when i plug the same flash drive to the lower usb slot everything works fine, autorun, safely remove. can any one help me with this problem, is it a Hardware problem or Software problem."
do you have the same problem as me?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx two of the usb ports are not working

I have recently bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx....and had it fixed by hp for a problem with the beeping noise.
After sending my laptop for repairs( replacing the system board), I received my laptop but two of my usb ports are not functioning...
I did a bios update and did the hp update to see if it actually fix anything but not luck.  So I went device manager and found a exclamation mark on the renesas electronics usb 3.0 host controller with a device status 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'.  What do i do??

The question is why is the port not working?  Is something in the port that you can see?  If not, then there isn't much you can do but take the computer in to the genius bar and have the techs see if it is a circuit problem that can be fixed.

  • Z87m gaming - 2 usb ports are not working

    Hello all,
I have just finished putting together a new computer using the z78m motherboard which I am enjoying. I am running windows 64 on it. Unfortunately the two USB 3.0 ports under my lan port on the back panel are not working properly. Everything else works fine. I have installed the latest usb 3.0 drivers off the msi site. The BIOS does recognize those ports and indicates what is plugged in them. I feel like it still might be some sort of driver issue.
In my system information, under components - Problem Devices , it lists Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller ( error code - Drivers for this device are not installed )
Then in my device manager, listed under other devices, it shows Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. When I try to automatically update the driver it says windows could not find one. I was thinking about manually updating it but I am not sure how to properly do that.
There are a few options under USB Controller - Intel(R)
    - USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller
    - USB 3.0 Root Hub
    - USB 3.9 Hub
    - USB 2.0 ....... etc.
I am not sure how to go about making a selection and I don't want to make my situation even worse. Wondering if anyone how there could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

  • Apple 23" Cinema Display - The USB Ports Are Not Working

The USB ports on my Cinema Display are not working. I do have both Tiger and Leopard installed on my Power Mac G5. Does this issue have to do with Leopard? If so, how can I fix this issue?

I would power down everything, disconnect the monitor from the computer, and the power from the computer and the monitor, wait 15 minutes, and reconnect the power. *Double check* your monitor connections, make sure the USB is properly inserted to the compters USB port. Might try a different port. If the USB ports of the computer work with known working devices (like a keyboard) and the problems continue, it looks like the monitor ports have a hardware problem.

  • USB ports are not working and I can't figure out what to do!

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv4-1225dx Entertainment Notebook. I've had it for almost three years now. It is running Windows Vista, the same it came with. The problem has only just recently started or was just discovered.
My problem is that the two USB ports in the side do nothing when something is plugged into them. The metal part of the USB devices gets hot but no lights come on the flashdrive and the camera doesn't act like it is plugged in at all. I've looked through Device Manager and it says they are working fine and the correct driver is installed already. There is also no older driver to rollback to. I've tried deleting them, disabling them, and everything that has been suggested online. I even flashed my BIOS from F.33 to F.55, whatever that means, and still nothing.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I am a filmmaker and desperatley need my USB ports. Any help would be appreciated greatly

USB ports must be enabled in order for them to work. If you disabled them it is possible that they still are disabled.
If that is the case, have you tried any of these? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00820529&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc...
By the way, even though Windows XP troubleshooting may not seem to apply to your situation, sometimes these sorts of errors and problems still happen in Windows Vista. It is rarer but it still happens. One Windows XP based solution can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00035365&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc...
Also, take a look at power management settings for your USB hub and/or USB ports. If they are enabled, try going to Computer Management, Device Manager, and then right click on the USB ports and select Properties. Following this, click the Power Management tab and uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and click OK and exit out of Device Manager.
Odd as it seems, sometimes a restart is necessary for this to work completely.
Also, if you have tried removing the USB Hub drivers according to HP methods, you need to make sure that nothing is plugged into the Ports when you remove them. Often, a restart still is necessary even if some techs do not think to instruct you to do so. After a restart, allow the drivers to reinstall--all of them. Sometimes you still will need to restart your computer again afterward. This sometimes takes a few minutes. But, you must in any case make sure that nothing is plugged into the ports.
You may also want to check to see if your computer has specific drivers for your USB ports rather than the generic ones. If so, running the option for restoring drivers in HP Application Recovery will fix this. If they are there you will see the USB drivers listed.
On rare occasion, there is a problem with a device further down the tree than the USB ports and/or USB hubs themselves. These problems are most often fixed by removing the device that controls the USB Hub, such as the devices attached to the PCI Bus and connected to the USB. You will see where these are connected by changing the view to "Devices by Connection" rather than the "Devices by Type" option.
Let me know your status, please, after you have tried these options. If you have already tried them all out, let me know that, too and we can see if there is another option for you to try.

Hello my office has  been using Lenovo's for some time now but we recently purchased a T420 and installed Windows XP SP3 on it.  The issue we are having is that the uSB ports do not work.  I have tried every driver I can find but still no luck, can anyone help?

    hey chris0277,
could you check in Device Manager and see if there is any ? or ! symbol on the USB area.
If there is, i do recommend uninstalling the drivers from it and then visit http://support.lenovo.com and update your unit

  • USB ports does not work

Hi I have problems with not working USB ports. It used to work. I downloaded actual drivers at msi.com for my gaming notebook GX 60 Destroyer and now my USB ports does not work. What should I do?

    What driver have you updated?
Try to do an EC firmware reset by removing the battery and the AC adapter then put the battery back with AC adapter attached.
Same questions like Pegasus asked, does all ports not working? which one exactly? What OS are you using?
Have you done any changes to the system? (for example: self-install OS or changing OS)

i plugged in my ipod and now i get the error message: Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled" - i have a MAcBook pro and now my USB ports do not work - can anyone help me ???

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

  • Audio output and left USB port is not working!

Hi! I have MacBook Air 13" late 2010, Audio output and left USB port is not working!
    What happened?
    Part No.: Z0JH000TE RS

If the left USB port doesnt work with an external mouse its seems to be a hardware malfunction of this USB port.
The newest BIOS is already installed?
Have you removed all USB ports from device manager and restarted your notebook?
If you have already tried this, contact an authorized service provider. The guys can try to fix this issue and it should be covered by warranty, if you still have warranty on this notebook. :)

  • 1 of my USB ports is not working. Help?

Suddenly one of my USB ports is not working. No matter what I plug into it, it doesn't work.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Not in the one that's ailing, but it does in the other one.  I've also plugged in an external USB hard drive and that doesn't connect.  Also a mouse's USB dongle and that doesn't work in the ailing one, but is fine in the other one.
I've also tried ( a couple of times ) to simple reboot hoping that would jog it, but that doesn't seem to help either.
