USB Wireless Dongle Issues

I have a TP-Link TL-WN727N wireless dongle, which uses the rt2800usb driver. Unfortunately, I am having issues with it and it basically doesn't work at all. It will work for a minute before failing and after that, it won't connect at all.
I have no idea why it's not working, so can anyone help me?

But I don't know what to do next...
    what I've done:
    1.uninstall ndiswrapper
    2.download firmware http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/data/f … .5.8.0.arm ,and rename it as "isl3887usb_bare" ,copy it into /lib/firmware
3.add "ndiswrapper" into mod_blacklist and "p54usb" into modules

Well thats a reallt weird problem...
From what I understood you need ndiswrapper to run the wireless card. Is it posible to do it natively. Its been a while since I've used ndiswrapper but it seems the kernel is already recognising the wireless card. Uninstall ndiswrapper and see if the system does load it manually. Otherwise I would recomend you post this on the ndiswrapper forums.

  • USB wireless mouse issues

Hi, I have been having issues with my MBP in regards to my USB wireless mouse. The problem is most noticeable when I am playing WoW. The mouse either stops responding or it lags for a bit. Thinking it was a WoW issue I contacted a GM who told me that it was a USB firmware issue that Apple has acknowledged. I am just wondering if there is indeed a firmware issue and is there an update or fix to solve the problem. Thanks.

  • USB Wireless adaptor issues

I purchased an Asus USB-N13 wireless adaptor.  I'm running a PowerPC G5, 10.5.8.  I just ran Software update yesterday.
I installed the driver, that software says I'm connected to our wireless network with good strength.
I open Safari or Firefox, and those tell me "I'm not connected to the internet".
The aggravating thing is a guy from work took it home, installed it, and everything worked fine.
In Network Prefs, it sees the USB device, and all looks well.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Iogear USB BT dongle issue

okay, i bought an iOgear USB Bluetooth 2.0+EDR dongle for my powermac g4 running 10.4.8. the problem is it only shows two bt profiles! File transfer and File Exchange. i really want to use my BT headset w/ichat. but it wont even let me pair it! The assistant just says my hardware is incompatible. HELP PLEASE!!!

It may also be due to the fact that the ONLY USB Bluetooth Adapter that Apple specifically supports the use of on Macs is the D-Link DBT-120. I've heard many reports of other adapters that don't work at all, or only partially (especially regarding syncing phones).

  • Can't get dlink dwa-125 usb wireless dongle to work

Hi, I'm installing arch on my parents PC.  I want them to try linux out but I've got a couple problems.
    1)  Firstly I can't get our dlink dwa-125 dongle to work.  I checked aur out and saw that there was a package for a kernel driver, but it wouldn't install.  So I got stuck there, I wasn't able to figure out how to compile the module myself.  I tried downloading the source code from ralink  http://eng.ralinktech.com.tw/support.php?s=2 .  The version I require is for the rt3070.
    2) I can't get the webcam to work in skype, it's a quickcam pro 5000.  The camera works fine in luvcview and cheese, when I click on test in skype the camera led turns on but no picture, when I double click to get fullscreen it's just grey. I followed the guide here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Webcam_Setup  and I tried
    export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
before starting skype but it didn't help.
Hope someone can help me get these two things running then my parents won't have a reason to keep starting windows.

    1) you need to blacklist the rt3070 drivers. maybe this helps: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1289917

Can i use a Usb wireless for my ibook?

Hi, Kimberly. Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If you mean a USB wireless dongle, the answer is yes (as long as it is Mac-compatible).

  • D-Link USB wireless adapter

I have a D-Link wireless router and USB dongle package, it works with my windows laptops perfectly well.
I am looking for a way to use the USB wireless dongle with a G5 tower so I can use the Mac as a web machine.
There is a software driver for the dongle but I have no idea what information on the different tabs I should enter, so any ideas what this should be?
The user manual is for windows, there is information on how to set up for Mac, despite the inclusion of the Mac driver on the CD.
The dongle is a D-Link DWA-111, user manual here:
    ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/wireless/dwa-111/DWA-111ManualEnglish.pdf
    thanks for any help

    hi....
i use a d-link dwl g122 dongle that has the same RT73 ralink chip.
the d-link driver that came with the CD just did one thing to my G5 powermac: kernelpanic!
after some searching on the web i found out, that it is best not to use the d-link driver at all, but to use the original ralink driver for the chip provided here:
    http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3
load the "USB(RT257X/RT2671/RT2500)" driver. that's the driver, that will give you the wireless utility as it is shown in BD's picture.
before you install it, make sure that you uninstall the d-link driver completely. there should be an uninstaller in the dmg or zip file, that was on the CD.
then install the ralink driver and after that connect your d-link dongle. the wireless utility should pop up after a minute or so, but first you've to go to the network preference pane and confirm, that there is a new port detected.
then you can go back to the wireless utility, that by then should be searching for available wireless networks in the site survey tab. choose yours and enter the password when asked. after that safe the connection to a profile.

  • Missing USB driver / dongle for HP Wireless Elite Desktop v2

    Hello there,
I recently lost my usb driver / dongle for my keyboard and mouse (HP Wireless Elite Desktop V2). I am unable to use both keyboard and mouse.
What is the solution for this problem. Can you send me a replacement usb dongle / driver. I sincerely appreciate your help.
    Thanks and regards,
    Samy Pal

    Samy,
The Elite Desktop v2 uses Link 5 technology but my understanding is there is no individual Dongles available.
You would have to buy a whole new Mouse, etc, etc. to get a new Dongle.
You can always contact HP Support directly for your area/country and ask them yourself.

  • USB network dongle for wireless networking

    Hi all
Just a quickie, I've just bought a mini, not wireless, thought I'd put an extreme card in it, but it's not to be, the wireless option is a rip off in the UK as a retrofit.
Has anyone managed to use a USB network wireless dongle?
I have seen a couple for sale on ebay, but I'm not sure about drivers etc?
    tia
    wilse

    Hi wilse,
    Few things that you might like to consider from my personal experience;
First, I guess, is if you can afford an airport card then its definately the best option without any shadow of a doubt (even if you fit it yourself - The Airport i user installable on virtually everything else and is very straight forward), I have a 12in iBook G4 (800) which i got Airport extreme for and it's constantly reliable and always fast.
Second, if you plump for the USB option I run a D-link Dwl-122 wireless adapter sticking out of my Powermac G4 450x2 which has been notorious for its poor driver support in the past but with the latest driver (From MacUpdate: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15997) I have no problems running it through the front pannel USB2 slots from a PCI card (i only say this as these are also notoriously difficult in old G4s but they're now happy together). I get a good reception on this card from 3 storeys away in a very high ceilinged Georgian house.
Thirdly, my mum also runs one the same USB wireless adapters on an iMac (flat panel USB1.1 from sometime in 2003) with the no problems with the driver above. The Dwl-122 is only wireless .b though so can only get connected at up to 11mps.
Fourthly (?), if i could put Airport Extreme cards in both of those Macs i would at whatever cost because its still annoying having bits stinking out in my opinion even if you are lucky enough to get a USB adapter with no conflics with your system setup (unfortunately nether are compatable with the AEX and Airport cards now go for upwards of £70 on ebay!!)
I hope all that helped somehow, as you can probably see i've spent many an hour battling with third party drivers for external devices, well done for having the foresight to ask first!!! I wish i had!
Anyway good luck with your decision and i hope you get a few more posts here before you make up your mind...

  • Issues with usb wireless adapter

    Hi
    Please excuse my ignorance.
I have an imac (about 2 years old) with a built in airport card. I am trying to use a usb wireless adapter. It has a realtek rtl8187. we have a wifi network here that works with my pc using this adapter but i cant get it to work on the mac. You have to sling the adapter on the window sill but it picks it up fine.
I have installed the supplied software (obviously the mac one!) and it installs the software and driver. After i have restarted, and plug the thing in, it tells me to turn on my wlan card on the supplied software?? It shows up in the listing on network settings as ethernet adapter ((null)). I cannot find any setting to turn on my wireless card, i thought that was airport?
The airport picks up the network but the signal is too weak to connect, hence the adapter with a bit more guts....
I have this beautiful mac, colecting dust and am having to use a pc!
If i connect the usb adapter without installing the software, it constantly has a box popping up in network settings saying that an external device has changed settings! it doesnt stop doing it, until you delete the location...
Can anyone help? I may be being thick and dont have a wlan card or something or airport will not allow me to use this thing. I only just started getting into macs when i moved to spain, where it has sat colecting dust for 3 months.
    I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks
    Richard

Cisco makes a router that is good for two-story homes.  I have used it for several years.  My router / hotspot is on the second floor and my Blu-ray player and laptop are on the first floor.  Both work extremely well with the router.  They also make a USB, AM10, that works very nicely with a desktop without a wireless card.
I have had a few problems with both, but have always been helped successfully by Cisco Customer Service.  They are very good.

Hi, Jake. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It's possible that your AirPort card has fizzled out on you. AirPort card failure doesn't happen very often, but it happened to me once, and it was very frustrating.
We diagnosed what was wrong with mine by my husband swapping his AirPort card with mine. Then my iBook would connect, but his wouldn't, so we knew it was the card.
Will the iBook work on any wireless network? Do you have someone with whom you could swap cards to see if that's the problem?

Have you tried using the other USB port? If neither port works, try plugging in a USB mouse to see if it works to confirm that your USB ports aren't damaged.
Have you installed any new software? Maybe a Security Update or something similar? Sometimes that will break functionality of third-party drivers.
You may need to go to the website of the manufacturer of the USB wireless device to see if an updated driver is available.

May I ask why you don't just get one of those? As I post this, the Apple Store has a refurbished one for $29.00.

I am not running Leopard... using 10.4 and I already own the product. It is suppose to work and there is no reason to purchase another unit. All I need to understand is how to make the IMac recognize the USB device or how to configure the unit. Others have stated in this and other forums that they have used this unit with success.
Thanks for address this specific issue.

Your specifications at the bottom of your post state that you're running Mac OS X 10.5.1?
You may want to post in the Internet and Networking your iMac (Flat Panel) Forum. Maybe someone there can help you out. (You've posted in the iBook G3 Forum.)

I am using a laptop to connect to the internet not the machine that I am writing about. If I could do that I would not need any help. I will check out the other forum but this thread is on topic.
    Mac OS X (10.5.1)

The information in your thread references an iBook quite a lot but the title of this post says iMac so I going to assume that you are trying to use this device with an iMac.
It is also unclear what version of the Mac OS you are using.
Let's start by stating the fact that these USB networking networking devices are not inherently supported by the Mac OS. Therefore they need drivers. These drivers are usually fragile and only work with a well defined version (or versions) of the Mac OS. Anytime that you make any upgrade to the Mac you are able to create an incompatibility with the driver and the device.
The Belkin F5D9050 does have some Mac OS drivers available at this link.
You should uninstall/remove the current driver for this device.
    Restart your iMac.
Download and install the appropriate driver for the version of Mac OS on your iMac.
    Restart your iMac.
If that doesn't work, either get the original AirPort card for the internal wireless slot in the iMac or get an Ethernet wireless adapter. An Ethernet wireless adapter requires no drivers and therefore will work with any Ethernet device.

  • Windows 8.1 freeze on any hardware scan or changes. USB wireless keyboard mouse not working

Problem : System Freezes frequently on any hardware scan or changes.
Symptom : Wireless Keyboard Mouse not working.
    Caused by : VMkbd.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
Issue : VMware player or VMware Workstation installed on Windows 8.1 causes compatibility issue leading to system freeze
Soultion : Please follow steps below
    Step 1: Start > run > regedit
    Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.
Step 4: Edit the UpperFilters, The value current would be kdbclass vmkbd. Remove the vmkbd. So only value left would be kbdclass.
Step 5: Restart your system and connect your USB wireless reciever. If all is well it will not freeze your windows now.
This worked for me. Hope this works for you. Enjoy..!!
