Then there's no reason to "Use Artboards". If you had multiple artboards in the file, then you could choose among them for the output but with a single artboard, only one will be output.

Hi, I'm relatively knew to Illustrator coming from Photoshop and I've been struggling with this problem for days now. I've searched everywhere but can't seem the find the answer.
I'm trying to save my document to send to a client as a mock-up. When I try to save as PDF the tick box for "Use Artboards" is disabled, so when I save it saves the whole canvas instead of only what is on the artboard. When I try to export I can tick the tick box but the document still saves the whole canvas with everything that is "hanging off" the artboard too. The artboard is the exact size of the document.
Any help would be much appreciated.

When saving as pdf "Use Artboards" is always on and dimmed so you cannot turn it off but it is valid only if you have more than one artboard and this will give you the range option to type which artboards will be saved as different pages in the pdf. This has nothing to do with saving things off the artboard (clip to artboard). If you save as pdf with Preserve Illustrator Editing Capability checked, everything will be saved anyway and noting will be clipped or trimmed if you open the pdf file in Illustrator. If you save with this option off, depending on the version the content outside the artboard will be hidden by using a clipping mask. However, in both cases opening the file in Acrobat will not display content outside the artboards.
edit: you can use "Clip to Artboard" option if you save to a raster image by choosing Save for Web and devices.

Get msg disk is full when trying to save a PDF file

Running windows 7 and latest version of Adobe Reader. I get the following message when I try to save a PDF file to disk.
The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk & try again or save to a different disk. The disk I am trying to save the file to has over 200gb of free sapce!!

I was having the same issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.2 plugin for Internet Explorer. So the directions in the above link are slightly different for Reader 11.
Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)
Uncheck the box for "Enable Protected Mode at startup".
I have no idea if there are any negative consequences with turning this option off.

Error message when trying to save as PDF or to export form

I used Form Central and chose a template, and changed a few things. Now I couldn't save the document or export it, though I followed the other response to download and install the latest flash player (but the same Error message is there again when I tried saving again). Also, I couldn't share the form through emails, where's the sharing button?

OK – that helps a lot (knowing it is the desktop application with Acrobat XI).
A few questions:
Have you launched Acrobat XI and accepted the EULA etc? I assume your trial period is still valid?
Can you go to the “Help” menu and select “About FormsCentral” and tell me the “Build” number at the bottom?
Using the Acrobat XI FormsCentral Desktop application you can save forms as PDF with a paid or free account, so there is some other reason you are not able to save as PDF… I will try to figure out what is going on there…
The reason you don’t see the “Share” button (or menu item) is that you are working in a “local” form (I am assuming), a form stored locally in the desktop application that is available whether you have internet connection or not. In a Free account you can only have one form “online” but you can have unlimited “local” forms, so after you have one form online the rest are created locally in the application. In order to share the form (and many other options in the forms) you need to “move” the form online (but would need to delete any other online forms you have).

The FAQ does not have screenshots, but if you are looking at the “My Forms” tab (if you have a form open and close it you see the “My Forms” dashboard), local forms have a little computer icon next to them (left column) and online forms show a cloud icon. Read the “Move forms online” section of the FAQ for more information about the differences between the local and online forms.

Word 2008 crashes when trying to save as PDF

Ever since upgrading to 10.6, I've been unable to save Word 2008 documents as pdf files from the print dialog. As soon as select "Save as PDF" from the PDF pull down, Word crashes. This doesn't happen in Excel or Powerpoint.
What's interesting is that if I select the Preview button (next to the PDF pull down in the print dialog), it opens the file using either Acrobat or Preview (depending on how I set things up), both of which let me save the file as a PDF.

I also have had a few instances where Save as PDF crashed Safari and Firefox. It doesn't happen on the first attempt, after trying to save a few documents in Safari it consistently crashed while using the Save as PDF, I thought it was a Safari problem so I switched to Firefox it allowed me to save a few a more documents and then it crashed.

Error reads "Cannot save information" when trying to save my pdf form on another computer

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong in the creation of my PDF form. When we try to open it on another PC it comes up with another window which reads as follows:
Cannot Save Form Information
PLEASE NOTE: You cannot save a competed copy of this form on your computer.
If you would like a copy for your records, please fill it in and print it.
If anyone can help me, I would be greatly appreciative !

That message shouldn't show up if you use Reader 11 or DC, unless the form was created with LiveCycle Designer. It also won't happen in Reader if you Reader-enable the form in Acrobat. To do so with Acrobat 11 select:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
The specific menu items are different for every other version of Acrobat.

Hi all - Am receiving the "bad parameter" error when trying to save a PDF w/ Reader 10.1.0

I've read through various topics and many point to the source of the PDF, but using other versions of Reader.
Other users - not using version 10.1.0 - but previous version, do not have this problem.
I am not sure if the client is able to download and install another version of Reader, as their network is locked down.
Any tips or suggestions?

Pls try updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader i.e. 10.1.4 and see if it solves your problem. The new version has lots of fixes which may solve your issue.

Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save PDF files

Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save some PDF files, after opening or after commenting. Applies for any of the Save options. "Watch" then "spinning beach ball" appear and application is indicated as "not responding." Mac OS Preview has no problem with the same files. Files can be displayed with Acrobat, just not saved. I would prefer to use Acrobat's commenting tools to mark up the document.

I get the Save As dialog when trying to Save, whether using Command-S or File menu

When trying to Save a document, I am presented with the Save As dialog. The file name has a serial number added to the old file name and the default destination is the Documents file. This happens whether I have tried to save using Command-S or using the Save option in the File menu. This started after I upgraded to Mavericks.

I checked and the files are not stationery pads, Permissions show me as having read and write authority.
But, when I opened the files from the finder, the problem disappears and they saved normally. I then removed the files from the Dock and re-placed them in the Dock via drag and drop. The problem re-appears and changes will not save normally. Not being able to use the Dock is inconvenient but at least there is a workaround. Thanks for your help! Before declaring victory, I'd like to watch it for a while for other quirks.

Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. My daughter created a movie using iMovie, which she has worked on for a month, when trying to save it on a jump drive she was asked to "finalize" the movie...now there is no record of it at all. Any ideas how I could try and retrieve the file?

There is no trace of the file in a Spotlight search?
The project files are not under <user>/Movies/iMovie Projects ??
Finalizing creates small, medium and large version of the finished video. It does take a long time, but it should not destroy your project files.
Oh, and you really MUST have a backup of your files. You can expect to lose files if you have no other copies of them.

Error when trying to save a file

I get this error when trying to save any file (newly created or not) word document in MS word 2010:"You are attempting to save a file type (plain text files) that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center".
I followed the directions given by the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850, but I am still having this issue. I can still save files as PDF but not in any kind of word format.
I also tried opening another file copy and pasting under a different name and it doesn't help.

GPS error when trying to save location.

Hi everyone, I've been trying to find a resolution to a problem im experiencing when trying to save a location on my GPS for my Blackberry 8310.
This is what I do:
Options>Advanced Options>GPS>Refresh GPS>Save
After I click on "Save" I get this error: Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerExcetion
I've tried everything from a Master Reset, other forums, even going to back to my phone provider tech suppor desk, but yet to have any luck solving this problem.
Any ideas that you think could help me out with this?

Error when trying to "Save for Web"

I, like others have the same problem in Photoshop Elements 6 editor when trying to "Save for Web". I get an error:
could not complete the export command because of a program error
I've searched the forum, but it seems like no one has found a solution.

I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.

When trying to create a form field, of type LookupField, I am entering the following Lookup Query property value:

When trying to save, I get
"Invalid Property Value was specified. Insert Failed"
My console log show:
java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00911: invalid character
However, running the above query directly via JDeveloper brings back the proper information.
Any idea what the invalid character might be?

However, now when trying to add the 'Lookup Column Name' and 'Column Names' properties, the same error is being thrown.
I am setting:
Lookup Column Name to be: UD_ADGRP_OBJECTGUID
and it is throwing the errors:

I would like to be able to key on the OBJECTGUID attribute because I want to use it in a process task. I don't want to have to lookup it later. ie: I have a child table trigger that is executing, and the task adapter that I have assigned is needing the GUID as input.
