    Helo BI Gurus,
    After refreshing the query in BI, when I right click on the query report, I am getting an option 'Convert to Formula'. Can you please tell me the use of this option, and how we can use this in our report and what the result we will be getting?

    Hi Mathew,
        The Convert to Formula in Excel Allows you to Convert you Embedded Bex Query into API Calls. This enables you to Better Format the Excel Output by allowing you to move your Cells Around.
    This helps because when you refresh you Query all the Changes you make will be maintained.

  • Restrictions for Queries using Convert to Formula

    Hi all,
    When I want to <b>use the "Convert to Formula" Function in a query are there any restrictions</b>? I.e. are there any <b>restrictions in the way the underlying query needs to be built to be able to use this function properly</b>?
    Do you know any documentation referring to this?
    Thanks

    Prakash,
    Thanks for the response.  You are right about the cell editor and the need for two structures.  Also you are right about the "convert formula" option in BEX runtime and one structure.  However, I thought that in order for you to be able to use the refernce in additional calculations locally in BEX workbook two structures are required for the reference to be known.  That is the experience that we had while working on a scenario here at our client site.

  • So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher ...

    I have a 160GB Gen 5 that I bought when first released back in the day when they were $400. Through a number of changes, the most recent being the advent of the Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to 128bit AAC feature, I decided to look at what more music I could store. After all was said and done, I ended up with a bit of a disaster with cover art not being properly applied to the music being played. I decided to *restore the ipod* based on suggestions in the discussion boards, and equally important was following the hints and tips here.
    http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp
    The advice is especially important in very large library situations to ensure you have uniqueness in the albums you want to display. Hadn't really given it much thought until I had the ability to see the individual albums for the 40K songs on the iPod via the cover art view.
    Finally the point of the post...
    *So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher Bitrate option now available in iTunes 9.1?* The specs on my computer are not highend by any stretch, but it's no slouch, and neither of the CPUs are ever pegged. At this point I've lost count of how much time it's taken, but the load is going on 3-4 days. With some breaks in between because I need to check each incremental load to verify there is no cover art corruption, correct bad tags and such, but for the most part the loading is visibly slow, and I'm sure the conversion is the cause. I'm not really complaining at this point, but there is clearly room for improvement. And of course unless there is a redo involved in which case I will get quite cranky.
    *I would like to hear the experiences of others.*
    Finally to lend a bit more credence to the performance concern, my 32GB iPhone 3GS for only about say 28GB of music takes about 24 hrs to load from a 2.2GHz dual core intel laptop, again using the convert higher bitrate option.

    With AC power adapter it takes 3-4 hours for a full charge. With the USB charger it takes 9-0 hours for a full charge. I am not happy with them removing the AC charger and other accessoreis at all. It's business but it still stinks.
    I know I would rethink my purchase but would most likely end up buying the Micro anyway

  • How to convert illustrator file containing a photograph to grayscale when the "convert to grayscale" option is grayed out?

    It's been several years since I've done any design work at all. I recently got a job as a designer, and on my first day I had to create an ad in illustrator 5.5 (required to be in illustrator) for print in a black and white publication. There was even an ad template to use. I placed the photo and tried to use the "convert to grayscale" option but everything under the edit colors menu was grayed out. I know it's because of the photo. In the end I changed the photo to grayscale in photoshop and replaced the image, but I know there is another way around this. Can someone please help me figure out how to fix this issue?
    Thank you so much in advance!

    If the placed image is linked, Edit Colors will not allow conversion to grayscale; however, an embedded image will work just fine. The flyout menu in the Links Panel allows you to embed the image.

  • BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook - Convert to formula function features

    Hello,
    when using the convert to formula function in a BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook (WB)  the result area becomes completely static.
    1.) Is there a possibility to add drill downs / across into an already converted to formula WB?
    2.) I inserted drop down boxes to allow F4 like selections, however those are pointless if several characteristics are being used i.e. the keyfigure results get blanked out. Is there another way to do this at all?
    3.) Could someone provide me with a real live example / whitepaper how the convert to formula function can be used?
    Many thanks for any feedback on this.

    It does become static and all the workbook gets all the excel property.
    The key figures are now calulated on the basis of your data provider from the server as a formula in each cell..
    I had used to populate my key figure only for the required values of a characteristic.

  • BEx Analyzer - Convert to formula - Dynamics of a hierarchy

    Hi BI-Experts,
    I have a question regarding the BEx Analyzer built in functionality "convert to formula".
    Once I have done this, the report is more ore less static, establishing a fixed link between the cell and the query result.
    (BExGetData(u201CDATA_PROVIDER_1u201D,F8,E10)
    Let's say I had included a G/L account hierarchy and converted the analysis grid item to formulas: I will lose drill down functionality of the hierarchy, drag & drop etc.. I can live with that.
    But what happens, if I update the G/L hierarchy in BI by uploading from ECC and someone added an additional text node and 3 new G/L accounts. They won't appear in my "convert to formula" report, even when refreshing, right?
    Does anyone know a work-around for a highly formatted report in BEx Analyzer which keeps the layout when refreshed (only way I know is with "convert to formula") AND using hierarchies which should be able being updated?
    Every hint is much appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Steffen Lange

    Thats right, as now the key figure values are basic excel formulas though they refer your dataprovider.
    The only option is to update the value of the hierarchy (new nodes etc) in the workbook too, you can add a new row and insert the new hierarchy value it should pick it up and key figures populated accordingly (you may need to put right row column value for your key figure calculation formula).

  • How to convert DWG to PDF 8.5x11 page size? using VueBean.convert()

    I am able to convert dwg files to pdf files. The dwg can be very large in size (example: 32" x 42"), but I need the pdf output to fit an 8.5" x 11" page size. I am using the VueBean object and the VueServlet to perform the conversion. I am using the  VectorConvertOptions to set the conversion options but no matter which options I try I can't get the output to fit 8.5" x 11" page size. I have tried varying the scale factor but that doesn't seem to affect the ouput at all. Can anyone tell me which options will get the pdf output to fit 8.5" x 11" page size? Maybe its a matter of scaling but I can't seem to figure it out. Please help.
       VectorConvertOptions opts = new VectorConvertOptions();
                opts.setStepsPerInch(1);
                PAN_CtlFileInfo fi = vueBean.getFileInfo();
                PAN_CtlRange ps = vueBean.getPageSizeEx();
                if (fi.getType() == PAN_CtlFileInfo.PAN_DocumentFile) {
                ps = fi.getPageSize();
                opts.setInputRange(ps);
                opts.setArea(ConvertOptions2D.AREA_EXTENTS);
                opts.setPageSize(1);
                opts.setScaleType(ConvertOptions2D.TYPE_SCALE);
                opts.setScaleFactor(200);
                opts.setWidth(Math.abs(ps.width()));
                opts.setHeight(Math.abs(ps.height()));
                opts.setUnits(Constants.UNITS_FILE);
                opts.setPages(ConvertOptions2D.AUTO);
                opts.setFromPage(1);
                opts.setToPage(fi.getPagesNumber());
                opts.setFormat("PCVC_PDF");
                opts.setModes(PAN.CTLMODE_MONOCHROME);
                opts.setSubFormatID(0);
                opts.setFileName(fi.getDocName().toLowerCase().replace(".dwg",".pdf"));
                vueBean.convert(opts);

    This is not possible using the convert option. This is a product limitation. Another possibility would be to use the print options instead of the convert option.

  • Converting Member Formulas to MDX

    Hi Experts!
    I'm converting member formulas to MDX for an ASO cube I created and I'm having trouble with the ones that use @MDSHIFT. I'm new to MDX and trying to learn as I go. One of the formulas I'm struggling with is:
    IF( @ISMBR("Budget"))
    (("Operating Results"-
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years", , 10,"Budget",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))/
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years", , 10,"Budget",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))*100;
    ELSEIF( @ISMBR("Business Plan"))
    (("Operating Results"-
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years", , -4,"Business Plan",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))/
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years", , -4,"Business Plan",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))*100;
    ELSE
    (("Operating Results"-
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))/
    (@MDSHIFT("Operating Results", -1, "Years",)+
    "Reclassification Operating Results"))*100;
    ENDIF;
    This is for a change year over year % member. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
    -Cheers

    In all honesty - it looks like you should not just 'convert it.' I dont see any real need to use MDSHIFT here. I would just use PrevMember function for years, while hardcoding the scenario into the tuple.

  • Put convert anchor points options in Keyboard Shortcuts

    I have two objects with the exact same border path and multiple types of points within the border. I believe that the only way to covert two corner points (at the exact same location) into smooth points (and thus maintain the exact same path for both) is to use the Control panel method (paste in from Help, below). This requires going clear up to the Control panel. I wish that both of these Control panel options where available under Keystroke Shortcuts. This would allow much faster operation that the long trip for my mouse or pen on my large Wacom board.
    -------> From AI Help file:
    Convert one or more anchor points using the Control panel
    To use the anchor point conversion options in the Control panel, only relevant anchor points, not the entire object, should be selected. If you select multiple objects, one of the objects must be only partially selected. When entire objects are selected, the Control panel options change to those that affect the entire object.
    To convert one or more corner points to smooth points, select the points and then click the Convert Selected Anchor Points To Smooth button in the Control panel.
    To convert one or more smooth points to corner points, select the points and then click the Convert Selected Anchor Points To Corner button in the Control panel.

    The buttons are not recordable.
    > I believe that the only way to covert two corner points (at the exact same location) into smooth points (and thus maintain the exact same path for both)
    Unless I'm misunderstanding your description, Illustator's new but lame convert buttons do not really meet your criteria anyway. The Convert to Smooth button does not merge two coincident corner points on the same path into a single smooth point. You still have two points.
    If the two coincident points are actually endpoints of two separate paths, CtrlShiftAlt-J will average their positions, join and merge them.
    The convert point type commands should be located in proper contextual cursor menus in AI. But AI does not really have proper contextual cursor menus.
    AI's confused interface has pretty much run out of practical keyboard shortcuts.
    Illustrator's new convert anchorpoint buttons are very lame compared to the features that have long existed in Adobe's other drawing program, FreeHand. The convert to corner button should not retract existing handles. The convert to smooth should not always extend handles. Provision should be made for individual retraction/auto-extension when converting.
    We are not seeing Adobe leverage the rights to better functionality it gained when it acquired Macromedia. We are only seeing cheap, piecemeal imitations and lip-service toward the still-superior functionality in the acquired program.

  • Convert to formula

    Hello all
    Ib bex Analyzer, there is the option of "Convert to Formula". what is the main options and advanteges of this appliction?
    B.R
    Yuval

    Hi,
    Im not that pretty sure about the usage of this.
    But what I have observed is that:
    1) 'Convert to Formula' converts your input ready layouts into a normal Excel layout.
    2)The input readiness is lost once you convert it into formula.
    3)All the compounded characteristcs are removed from the layout.
    4) If a Key Figures of type % is initially displayed as 70%, then after converting it to Formula, it displays as 70.
    For Eg: If keyfigures for Amounts were displayed as 200INR, $100 initially, then once you click on Convert to Formula, the KFs are displayed now as 200,100 and you can do the normal Excel functionalities now like Sum, Min, Max, Average, Count ,etc.
    The result rows will be displayed now irrespective of the currencies / units in rows. ie: 200, 100 , the sum is displayed as 300.

    After choosing convert to formula and copy cells to another cells just like in the demo below , I changed the characteristic for the copied cell. But keyfigure values  are  not changed.
