User gets odd behavior when print previewing calendar

User calls with an odd problem.
She is using 32 bit IE 9 with our SP 2010 farm.
She goes to her department calendar. She sees events.
She presses Print Preview. No events are shown on the page.
She tries to export the data to Outlook - it tells her there is too much data.
She calls me.
I look - her default view is running into the resource throttling of the farm. So I try to create a unique view that only shows this week's events.
It works fine for me. Print preview and printing work as well.
When she looks at it in her browser, it works fine.
When she tries to print preview - no events show up on the preview page.
She tries to export from the new view - Outlook gets no events.
She is using IE9, so the IE7 comments in old threads are not relevant.
I set the web part configuration to 12 inches as one conversation suggestions. That doesn't help.
Does anyone else have any ideas of things to try?

When I look at the custom calendar within SharePoint Designer, the page has a ListView Web Part but not an XsltListViewWebPart.
I have tried several times to step through blog entries that describe editing the page, setting the view of the web part, etc. At one point whatever I tried turned the calendar view into a list view ... sigh. I created a new calendar view and made it
the default.
I have asked the user to try the print preview out today to see if it works for her after I created the new view.
The really odd thing about all of this is that at least 2 people don't have the problem with not seeing event data in the print preview.
It _almost_ sounds like some sort of machine specific issue she is having.
I wonder if I should ask the admins to repair Office 2010 on her machine to make certain the DLLs are all working properly.

  • Odd colorsync profile behavior when printing

I'm having a bit of an odd situation when printing out of Aperture. When choosing ANY colorsync profile in the print dialog box that ends in .icc, the color of the preview image and the resulting print is off horribly, in the blue/purple direction. When a profile that doesn't contain .icc in the listed name is chosen, the print is fine.
    Example
+SPR2400 PremSmgls Photo.icc+ results in wrong color rendering
    +SPR2400 PremiumSemigloss+ works just fine
This isn't limited to Epson profiles; I have a few profiles from Ilford and Innova which are doing the same thing.
I should note that this didn't used to happen, and started after the upgrade to 2.14 and/or 10.6/1---i did both basically simultaneously, so I'm not sure which might be the culprit.
The error doesn't happen when printing out of Photoshop, for what it's worth. And yes, I have color management turned off at the printer level, so it's only being handled by the application.
    Thanks.

I had a comparable problem with my Epson Stylus Photo R1800. Once I set the profile back to the SPR1800 Premium Glossy the funky colors were corrected. Then, however, prints were far too dark. Setting the Gamma in the Print dialog to 1.3 got it back to an acceptable quality, albeit a bit too dark still. I have spent a lot of electrons with Epson support and they were of minimal help through this entire fiasco. Basically I had to "hunt and peck" with different settings to get to the point where the print quality was acceptable. I have shared my findings with them so hopefully they'll pass them on to folks who contact them. They say they are "constantly" working on new drivers to solve such problems, but gave me no projection as to when that might be. All this started after upgrading to 10.6.

  • Odd behavior when duplicating pages

I have run into some odd behavior when duplicating pages.
First I spent many hours trying to acomplish a double trigger effect in which the last trigger opened a large image in a pop up window. Thanks to help from agm 123 and Sachin Hasija  see the posts here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5186239#5186239
    And the result here: http://ljusa.businesscatalyst.com/stockholm--1.html
I had to do a number of work arounds, but succeeded and will help anyone interested to reproduce this type of effect.
My next step was to recreate this effect for another 50 pages. The best way I have found is to duplicate the first page. This is where it gets weird.
When I create a duplicate and replace the images in the newly created pages (done by changing the fill to the new image) with different ones and save it the changes are effected on the original page, not the clone. No big problem, just switch the names and continue.
The next problem that occurs is that when I go to make further copies a variety of odd behaviors creep in. The biggest problem is a repositioning or resizing of photo frames/containers. The images do not change, just move as the frame resizes. When I try to resize the frame it snaps back to it's larger new size. This is a phenomenon that I have seen in other instances in work with lightboxes and slideshows. It seems that some other unseen element has jumped into the frame with the original frame.
The method I have used to create these pages is as described in the post at: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5186239#5186239
It involves creating a blank composition widget and then placing a composition lightbox widget trigger into the blank hero.
I have already invested more time than I should have on this and would like to keep it simple, yet as I have 50 pages to go I could start from scratch if someone has a better method of doing this.
    Suggestions?

    Just an update.
I haven't seen the naming problem with duoplicates reoccur. I am however still stuggling with duplicates.
I have a page with 5 image frames linked to images which in turn trigger a lightbox. When I create a duplicate of a page there is always at least one of my image frames that moves and or a link to an image that is dead. The only recourse I have had is to recreate one of the lifgtboxes for each new page I create. With all the formatting this is time consuming.
I have tried copying and pasting the entire page into a blank page, but then there are even more problems.
I have also tried to save my lightbox as a graphic style, but that dooesn't seem to work either.
Please Help! I've got at least 45 more of these pages to replicate1

  • Text getting cut off when printing to PDF from Excel

    Hello,
I've seen a lot related to this subject but nothing that shows a real solution.
Using Excel 2003-sp3 and Adobe Acrobat v.9 Standard, the right half of the last character in the string gets cut off. It prints from excel fine.
It's not always the text that is the right-most on the page either. An affected PDF file is attached - note the cut off "S" on the last line (NET ASSETS OF GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITIES).
         Any assistance is appreciated.

    Hi!
    Which printer do you use?
Check in the transaction spad which printer and printerdriver you use. Dobbleclick on the printerdriver and check which codepade is assigned.
I think it has to be one of the following codepages:
    8600     Thai Codepage ISO988/2533
8604     Microsoft Windows 874 for Thai
    8611     Thai Printer Codepage 1 (EPSON ESC/P2)
    8616     Printer HPLJIIID (Thai)
    8617     Thai Postscript printing
    8634     Thai Printer codepage (THSAPWIN)
    Pleas try this.

  • How might I get photos centered when printing?  OS 10.7.5

How might I get photos centered when printing to Lexmark Pinnacle Pro 901 from OS 10.7.5?  I either get a huge border on right for horizontal or on bottom for vertical.
    Thank you,
    Sheila

Thanks for that Lanny & Lex, What I have done so far has got me back to some extent.
My MacBook also has a login for my wife so I went there and copied Mail to a USB drive then back to my own login and dragged the mail app onto Desktop and put it into Applications. Then I was able to delete the original Mail app, which previously could not be done. My email is now working again via iCloud as previously. I still have to reinstall my gmail account but if that works then all is well.
I think your solution is the better one (more orthodox) and if I have further problems I will do as you suggest.
    Thanks again, Richard S,

  • Getting a Spool Order when PRINT PREVIEW is selected

    Hi!
In order to solve another problem I have, I need to find a solution to the following issue:
I need that when the user clicks on "Preview Print" at the print options of a SapScript, the system creates a spool order.
I'm getting a spool order only when the user PRINTs the form, not when the PRINT PREVIEW is selected.
There is a way to make the system to create a spool order, no matter if the user is printing or viewing the form???
    Thanks in advance!
    Bettina

    Hi Bettina,
To achieve this before calling smartforms function module, declare below data.
    data: gst_control_parameters type ssfctrlop,
            gst_output_options type ssfcompop,
            gt_job_output_info type ssfcrescl,
            gt_output_options type ssfcresop.
Now before calling the generated smartforms function module pass below parameters
    gst_control_parameters-no_dialog = 'X'.
    gst_control_parameters-getotf = 'X'.
    gst_control_parameters-preview = 'X'.
Finally pass the parameter as below
    control_parameters = gst_control_parameters
    output_options = gst_output_options
    job_output_info = gt_job_output_info
    job_output_options = gt_output_options

  • Printing/Preview Calendar Month View shows no appointment

On some clients when the user clicks on Calendar and then choose print calendar both preview and the print(obviously) show no calendar events. There are calendar events on those days and other users with some of the same calendars can print.
We've updates the client to 2012 SP2, Firefox is the latest and we tried changing IE to be the default browser in case that was involved. We also changed their default printer to be the same as a working client and rebooted the workstation. No effect - although changing the default printer ended up showing a gray screen instead of at least just a blank calendar. We also checked all options to see that they were the same as a working client.
I am at a loss. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what to try to get this fixed. They really need the option to print their calendars on a regular basis. Thank you.

    Hi Laura,
I see TID 7011876 that talks about "Unable to print shared or subscribed calendars" and how it prints just a blank page with date range. Our problem is similar - even the print preview comes up grey. We seem to have fixed it on one workstation with a client repair install from another Windows profile but it's a fluke because it hasn't fixed anyone else.
Anything that you can do to help us get this through to Novell is so greatly appreciated. This is a major problem for us. I have full departments that have migrated from using Google calendars to GroupWise. As an organization we are trying to all use the same calendaring system. Some of my departments have a real need to print and cannot do so. This is keeping them from communicating with staff. That TID I mention is from SP1 and listed Reported to Engineering in March.
I know in Enterprise Calendar it would seem that printing to paper would be a low priority but my Administrators have shown me very good reasons to do so. Hopefully, Novell can look at this as more of a priority to fix. We are on SP2 at this point. Thanks again. 8^D

  • Odd characters when printing PDFs from iMac (10.6.3)

When printing a PDF from the iMac (new 27") above, we get odd characters printed down the right margin of the page. These characters do not appear when viewing in either Acrobat Reader or Preview. This also does not happen when printing from Parallels. The printer is an HP Officejet 6000. Just to throw an added wrench into this, the problem does not happen when printing from a new Mac Mini (also 10.6.3) to the same printer. Any solutions?

Check whether the fonts installed and active are the same. In particular, look for font conflicts in Font Book, and resolve them so both computers are using the same versions.

  • User level variation in Invoice Print Preview

    Hi,
We are facing one issue where in when one user gives the print preview command for PO document he is getting the print preview in normal SAP transaction look n feel whereas all the other user are gettign the preview as PDF format.
Users are accessing SAP through Portal and not through GUI.
What can be the probable reason for this variation.
    Kindly let me knw.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Richa Sinha

This is just a wild guess, but take a look at the default printer in the user settings. Maybe the users have different default printers and it is affecting how Print Preview works.
Also you might want to move this question to either Portal or Basis forum. This is not an ABAP issue, I believe.
    Good luck.

  • Odd behavior when using custom Composite/CompositeContext and antialiasing

    Hi,
I created a custom Composite/CompositeContext class and when I use it with antialiasing it causes a black bar to appear. I seems it has nothing to do with the compose() code but just that fact that I set my own Composite object. The submitted code will show you what I mean. There are 3 check boxes 1) allows to use the custom Composite object, 2) allows to ignore the compose() code in the CompositeContext and 3) toggles the antialiasing flag in the rendering hints. When the antialiasing flag is set and the Composite object is used the bar appears regardless of if the compose() method is executed or not. If the Composite object is not used the bar goes away.
The Composite/CompositeContext class performs clipping and gradient paint using a Ellipse2D.Float instance.
    a) When the Composite is not used the code does a rectangular fill.
    b) When the Composite is used it should clip the rectangular fill to only the inside of a circle and do a gradient merge of background color and current color.
    c) If the compose() method is ignored then only the background is painted.
    d) When antialiasing is turned on the black bar appears, i) if you ignore the compose() method it remains, ii) if you do not use the Composite object the bar disappears (???)
NOTE: the compose method's code is only for illustration purposes, I know that AlphaComposite, clipping and/or Gradient paint can be used to do what the example does. What I am trying to find out is why the fact of simply using my Composite object with antialiasing will cause the odd behavior.  Been trying to figure it out but haven't, any help is appreciated.
    Thx.

  • Automatically prompt to save PDF when Print Preview for Purchase Order?

    We recently upgraded to EP7.
I have an end user that does our PO's.
She swears up and down that she used to be able to go into any given PO, be it new or existing, and click on the print preview button. She says when she did this she was prompted to save or open the file.
She is set to PDF Preview when doing a print preview of the PO.
When we first upgraded the system, it was broken. When she tried to do this it would give you a Page Cannot Be Displayed error as in unable to find the page. We learned that there was an issue with name resolution within the system. We fixed this and now she can view the files as PDF when doing a print preview.
But she still claims it did not used to work like this that when she went to preview she would be prompted to save or view which worked great for her because she could click save, save it to her computer, and then email it to whomever she needed to send it to.
Seems clear to me that that when you do PDF Preview that an SAP browser session is created and sent to an web site (internal to SAP of course) to view the PDF. How can I tell SAP to give me the option to view or save?
For now the user is repeating the output when she needs to reprint another copy of the PO.
I should also say that we use Free PDF Creator. After setting her default printer to this, she says that now when she creates a new PO, it is working like before. So its possible that the prompt was the one from PDF Creator.
The user says she swears she could simply print preview would allow her to save local. I never saw it for myself prior to the upgrade.
Anyone seen this before or can offer any clues? Is there away to issue output at print preview?

How did you fix 'page cannot be displayed' error?
It looks like issue was at browser/pdfreader side.

  • Unable to get chinese character in print preview or in printout

    Hi Gurus!
I have searched in SDN before posting this thread, as i could not able to find solution for my problem.
In VL02n - Delivery note - my user gives the customer part number sometimes in English and sometimes in Chinese.
Now i am facing the problem - i could not able to see any chinese characters in print preview ( it shows some garbage characters sometimes and sometimes #### ) and in printout - i see ####.
The things i have done is:
i have activated the multibyte functionality in local layout (ALT + F12) - I18N.
Checked the printer output device - in SPAD - the device type is 'CNSAPWIN : MS WINDOWS DRIVER VIA SAPLPD'.
In control panel - regional and lang. options - install east asian languages has got tick mark
So what else i need to do to get the chinese characters in print preview as well as in print out.
    Thanks,
    Sakthi Sri.

    Hi Jeeva,
Still i am searching for answer. Meanwhile, if you got any solution plz let me know too.
Also, for me in PDF, i could not able to view the print preview at all. I am using Adobe Reader 7.0 and it is saying chinese simplified font is installed. but not able to view it. it is again and again asking to install it.
may i know how you able to view it in PDF? or Are you using any higher PDF version?
    Thanks.
    Sakthi Sri.

  • Get 2 pages when I preview

I designed a print layout. when I preview the layout with 1 row of data, found I get 2 pages and the second page only shows page header.
I adjust the height, width and position of some objects, but it's useless. can anyone tell me what can I do to fix this? Thanks....

    Hi,
I believe the Field which was deleted was at the end of the report footer,
some time what happens is a field requires more space then allotted so it automatically takes the space if you would have defined it as "divide into rows" in the format tab of line break field box.so just increase the size of the field and also bit of height of the document
    hope it works out.
    regards,
    Shreyas

  • Value pass to Smartform when Print/Preview

    Hi,
I've a custom print program and smartform. All my selecting data codes are in Smartform. How do I let Smartform knows whether I'm doing a preview or print? What values should I pass into Smartform?
I'd like to achieve something as follows:-
    IF print preview.
      DO a.
    ELSE.
      DO b.
    ENDIF.
    Please share your thoughts.

    Hi Brad,
Actually it is not the data selected that determines the print preview. Let me give a clearer scenario.
When user clicks Print Preview, user able to see a preview of the form. However, when user clicks Print, form is printed and some data is saved to a custom table.
Currently, both print preview and print will save the data to the custom table. So I'd like to know how to prevent data being saved into the custom table when user performs a print preview.
    Thanks.
