User log in not functioning on remote server

I have a site that works wonderfully on my MAMP localhost server.  However, when exported to awardspace.com server, some of the php isnt working properly...
For instance, when I try to log in as a user, I get Warning: mysql_select_db() expects parameter 2 to be resource, null given in /srv/disk2/1778494/www/XXXXXXXXXXXXX/Pages/login_register.php on line 52
That line corresponds to
mysql_select_db($database_connection, $connection);
I can't for the life of me determine why it works on my local server, but a no go on remote server.  The server connection is valid.
Here is the full login code for your reference:
<?php

function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "")

Do you have an alternative remote server you can test on?
I always have at least a couple of remote servers to test on because NOT every server is set up the same or correctly. If you can prove your code works on another server then you can make a case to the company where you want to host the site that their server set up is incorrect.
Having said that have you uploaded all the site filee i.e., the 'connections' folder etc?
Have you searched Google for: (it returns plenty of results)
Warning: mysql_select_db() expects parameter 2 to be resource

  • The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login

    Using Terminal Server 2008 not able to get non administrator users to login to the remote desktop. Have tried from Windows server 2008 and from Windows servers 2003. Get error login in "The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login" from Windows Server 2008. Error "The requested session access is denied" from Windows Server 2000.

    Is that seriously the only way to do this? Doesn't this render the "Allow log on through Terminal Services" GP Setting useless?
    I would like to know this answer, as well.  I have created a new AD group for my assistant admins called "Domain Admins (limited)".  I have added this group to the GP setting "Allow log on through Terminal Services", but the
    assistant admins cannot log in through RDP.  It 'feels like' this is all I would need to do.

    Found some good info
    here. There are really two things required for a user to connect to a server via RDP. You can configure one of them via Group Policy but not the other.
    1) Allow log on through Terminal Services can be configured through Group Policy, no problem.
    2) Permissions on the RDP-listener must also be granted.  If your user is a member of the local Administrators group or the local Remote Desktop Users group then this is handled.  If you are trying to utilize a new, custom group (as I am),
    then there isn't a way to do this via group policy (that I have found).
    EDIT: Found the answer.  I am creating a blog post to outline the steps.  They aren't hard, but they're not self-explanatory.  It deals with the Restricted Groups mentioned above, but it's still automate-able using Group Policy so that you
    don't have to touch each computer.  I think the above poster (Andrey Ganev) got it right, but
    I had trouble deciphering his instructions.
    Here is my blog post that walks through this entire process, step-by-step.

  • "file does not exist on remote server" when uploading image

    As the title says, when uploading an image im getting the
    message "file does not exist on remote server"......yet dreamwever
    has uploaded the file, its there. All other pages on my website
    work fine when uploading images. Any ideas?

    What image type is it? Is it in an images folder or the root
    directory? It would be helpful to post a link.

  • Premiere Elements 8 "Could not connect to remote server" when sharing to YouTube

    I'm trying to share my Adobe Premiere Elements 8 video to YouTube through the task panel, but I get a "Could not connect to remote server" message. My computer is connected to the Internet. I notice at the bottom of the message there is "Open the Opera Help" and "Go to Opera's on-line support desk." I don't have Opera on this computer, so maybe that's it?

    No. You don't need Opera.
    Have you gone to Edit/Preferences and ensured that your Web Services are up to date?
    Otherwise, it could be that YouTube changed settings on us again. If that's the case, you'll need to post to it manually, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.

    You did not upload the sub folder(s).
    There should be a required subfolder called /edge_includes with a few files in it.
    If your project uses images then there should also be another sub folder called /images.
    As it stands now, it loos like you copied the images and the edge.1.5.0.min.js files out of their respective folders and placed them into the root.

  • Time Capsule-  does it or NOT work as remote server?  Not seeing benefits I was sold by the salesperson.

    Hi!  I'm hoping you can help eliminate my frustrations....
    I purchased a macbook pro 13 inch because my other macbook 2009 was already low on memory and I thought it best to upgrade.  I needed more space but wanted also the ability to access remotely and not worry about computer being stolen with all the information on it because I travel A LOT.
    I asked the salesperson if I purchased the 128g MBP and the time capsule would i be able to access all my information remotely?  The thought process was:
    1. With over 500GB already in my previous MB i would transfer all that information from the old MBP to the time capsule where it would be at home safe
    2. set up the time capsule to access all files remotely (including iphoto, itunes, videos, etc)
    Because my information already was over 500Gb, buying the 2TB was going to be plenty of space.  So I went with purchasing the MBP with lower space (128G) + the 2TB Time Capsule.
    Now I'm trying to set everything up, was on the phone for 2.5 hours, spoke to 5 reps and finally received an answer: CAN'T DO IT.  DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.
    I kept searching online and see that
    1. the Time Capsule can only be used as a time machine for backups.  Can't use as a remote server but others say you set up a server file and works.
    2. I can't place the iphoto library or itunes library there to access remotely because I risk it being corrupted (sales person said it would run slow but worked well)
    SO, the big question...can SOMEONE please help me determine if this was worth the $350 purchase because right now it feels like i'm better off sticking with my external drive from WD that i have been working with.  I'm seeing ZERO value add for this device....
    PLEASE...if someone knows if i can really get it to work for what I need, I would truly appreciate your advice because right now FRUSTRATION is at it's max...especially after 2.5 hours on the phone with little to no solutions.

    Some of this depends on your home internet speed.. do you have a fancy 1Gbit link.. with 100Mbps uplink.. well that is faster than rest of the internet.. so you can well support some sort of home cloud device.
    I would also strongly recommend business level internet accounts with static Public IP address.. not dynamic.
    For most people with limited upload speed.. 1mbit is standard where I live.. and real throughput is 800Kbps. Forget it.
    I would never advise anyone to depend on remote access.. for anything with 1Mbps upload.. and even 5Mbps is going to be a struggle.. Maybe 10 or 25Mbps you can function.
    It is simply not the right way to do things. You are far better off carrying around a 500GB thunderbolt drive.. which weighs next to nothing and is as fast as the internal drive.. or use a standard cheap 2.5" USB hard disk which you can get up to 2TB now.
    Backup to TC but not by Time Machine.. or backup to the cloud.. for sure..
    You can also access some files in the cloud. That is much better than using a TC at home.. where you then have a domestic quality link to the internet.
    Apple specifically say not to use iphoto on network drives.. that means any network setup.
    iTunes you can use from a network drive.. but if you have a massive library and slow upload speed it will never finish loading.
    The internet for the most part is just not there yet.. maybe another 20years. In Australia that will be 100years with the current bunch of Philistines running the place. And if you do international travel and depend on networks in hotels or cafes.. well forget it.. they are going to give you enough bandwidth to load your email as long as it is pure text.
    Apple have a 2week return period.. just take it back if you are unhappy with it.

    Assuming these are the images you're trying to display:
    .TabbedPanelsTabHover {
              background-image: url(../../SUPEROLDU/images/menubaractive.png);
              background-repeat: repeat-x;
              color: #FFF;

              width: 116px;
    You have 2 root paths in your URL code. I think this is how your file structure looks like on your local computer. However, on a remote server, ../ by itself means you're pointing to the root folder of your website. Your URL linkage should be corrected based on the relativity and your background will work without a problem.

  • Check out failed since filename does not exist on remote server

    Files are not being listed in the remote site but if I telnet
    to the server they are there. This seems to happen sporadically.
    Has anyone got a possible explanation?

    Hi,
    Well, yes I did manage to fix the dynamically linked resources issue. As mentioned above, I did need to mention public_html in my Root Directory setting in server setup (silly of me).
    I had tried this at first, but it didn't work, as I had the server set as a test server and not a remote server, anyway, i now have it set as both and all is well.
    Except that, the first issue that mentioned is still with me: namely, dreamweaver mentions the public_html in the url path when on live view, which is not correct and I don't know where it is inferring this from. I can change it manually, but this doesn't seem right to me. Am I still missing a setting?
    In anwer to the questions:
    1) My setting (now) in the Root Directory setting in DW is: /public_html/
    2) My actual path on the server (that i mention in php scripts) is: /home/login_name/public_html//path/to/my/file/file.php
    [In the advanced settings of DW site setup on the Local Info page I have set Links relative to Document option, although it does not seem to make a difference when I change it to Site Root.]
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ian

  • Event log is not working in Multiform server

    Hi ,
    We are trying to implement event logging in our application. We have created separate event source for our application. When we testing this our local dev machine it is working without any problem. when I try to test the same in higher environment (QA, Pre-prod)
    it is not working. The QA environment is a multi form server. We are able to see the event source in the event viewer, but the logging is not happening. We have tried restarting IIS, restarting the services.
    Any suggestion or guidance will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi GHPMS,
    >>We are trying to implement event logging in our application
    Do you mean this code as below?
    string sSource;
    string sLog;
    string sEvent;
    sSource = "dotNET Sample App";
    sLog = "Application";
    sEvent = "Sample Event";
    if (!EventLog.SourceExists(sSource))
    EventLog.CreateEventSource(sSource, sLog);
    EventLog.WriteEntry(sSource, sEvent);
    EventLog.WriteEntry(sSource, sEvent,
    EventLogEntryType.Warning, 234);
    Like in following screenshot
    >>We are able to see the event source in the event viewer, but the logging is not happening.
    Maybe, you also need to check if the
    eventlog exist method before you try to crate it new.
    You might need check on what account the service is running under, which may make a difference on multi form server and up since they are more stringent on account rights on those environment.
    Best regards,
    Kristin

  • Custom event log is not working in SharePoint server

    Logging should use the SharePoint Unified Logging Services (ULS) infrastructure.
    Logging to the Event Viewer requires ADMIN PERMISSION... which is why it works fine in DEV, and not in TEST/PROD.
    DO NOT LOG TO THE EVENT VIEWER... OR USE ANY OTHER HOME GROWN CONCOCTION... USE THE LOGGING FRAMEWORK PROVIDED BY THE PLATFORM.

  • Not showing on remote server!

    I've created a fairly simple animation, and it works fine on my local server, but although I have uploaded it with all files to the remote server, I am not seeing the animation!
    Any thoughts as to why not?
    I have used svg's as my imported images; could this be the issue? As I say, it works locally, but not remotely.

    Thanks.

    Hi matthew,
    In the post below, Schrene explains how to deal with this, if you can add an htaccess file to your server:

  • I can not start a remote server via Node Manager

    There is a workaround to this problem. The issue seems to be
    that when the node manager tries to start the managed server
    it can not find java.exe in the system path. So please go to
    Control Panel->System->...->Environment, and modify your PATH
    system environment variable to include the java bin directory
    in it.
    Then try using the node manager again to start the managed
    servers and you should have no problems.
    We are aware of the issue and working on having a fix for it.

    Hey Guys!
    I am using WLS6.1 on WIN2000 boxes. And I am getting the same error on
    the Admin
    console when I try to start any of the two
    managed servers.
    <Sep 25,2001 1:39:12 PM EDT> <Info> <[email protected]:7002><WindowsProcessControl:

    server from the Admin Console.
    Really frusted, I hope I have configured everything correctly. Can somebody
    help
    me out ?
    Thanks Rakesh

    This message is simply a message from the Admin Server saying that it
    has asked
    NodeManager on the remote machine to start a certain server.
    To see the logs for server startup then you can find these either on
    the Admin
    machine at WL_HOME/config/NodeManagerClientLogs/<ManagedServerName>/*.log
    or on the remote machine at
    WL_HOME/config/NodeManagerLogs/<ManagedServerName>/*.log
    Cheers

    I also would like to know the answer to the question below from Vincent.
    I am getting
    this message in the Admin console from either of my two managed servers
    whenever
    the console has successfully contacted the Node Manager in managed
    server
    host.
    The Node Manager logs themselves also report "online successful". What
    doesn't
    seem to happen is WebLogic startup and I haven't found any error log
    that explains
    why.
    I have set the Remote Startup parameters correctly [I think] for both
    managed
    servers so cannot see what further is required.
    Any input appreciated.
    Paul.

    What does this message mean ???

  • SQL Server Usage Summary page, the count of user/device: does not show for SQL Server 2008

    Does MAP tool capture User Summary  (count of users, their details) for SQL Server 2008?
    At my end, its working for SQL Server 2012 but not showing User Summary for SQL Server 2008..
    Does the User Summary only works for SQL Server 2008 Enterprise edition as one of the thread points out?

    This is from the
    Wiki article:
    SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and Datacenter Editions introduced audit event configuration for Windows security logging, which enabled SQL Server 2008 to log logon events to the Windows Security log. The table below shows which versions and editions have the Audit

  • Transaction Log Truncate not working on Sql Server 2012 High Availability Groups

    Hi Everyone
    Firstly I have tried to search the forum for similar issues but can't seem to find any that match our situation.
    We have a SQL Server 2012 High Availability Group with 2 Nodes
    Node 1 = Primary
    Node 2 = Secondary
    Backup Schedule as follows
    Full Database Backup @ 00:00
    Transaction Log Backup every 30 minutes from 00:30:00 till 23:59:59.
    These backups are run by Maintenance Jobs, but we have also tried doing direct backups in SSMS using Backup Database and Backup Log commands.
    Before we configured the High Availability group the transaction log backups worked fine.
    After we configured the High Availability group we performed a Full Backup and the T-Log schedule did the T-Log backup. The 1st T-log backup truncated the log (Used space Decreased) as expected.
    However subsequent T-Log backups do not truncate the T-Log.
    This happens both in our acceptance and Live environments. This also happens when running the backups as a Backup operator and sysadmin, this does not seem to be a permissions issue at all.
    We have tried running the Backup on the Primary and Secondary Replica.
    What about High Availability groups could stop Transaction Log Backups from not truncating the log?
    Thanks
    James
