  • Database Error (maybe) while working on User-Role or Assiging a Cloud (Unable to connect to the VMM database because of a general database failure)

    Hi,
Suddenly I got this error in SCVMM 2012-R2 Roll-up 1:
When working with User-Roles (create/update) or assigning a Cloud :
"VMM encountered a critical exception and created an exception report....
search user forums for well-known failure root causes for self-help" (how sweet)... (if it's "well known", why not coding the exception handling correctly?)
The relevant part of the report might be this:
    "SCVMM Version=3.2.7620.0
    SCVMM flavor=C-buddy-RTL-AMD64
    Default Assembly Version=3.2.7620.0
    Executable Name=vmmservice.exe
    Executable Version=3.2.7510.0
    Base Exception Target Site=140717670746840
    Base Exception Assembly name=System.Data.dll
    Base Exception Method Name=System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError
Exception Message=Unable to connect to the VMM database because of a general database failure.
Ensure that the SQL Server is running and configured correctly, then try the operation again."
(side question: what does this mean: "Ensure that the SQL Server is ... configured correctly"?
    I can say that :
SQL is configured by the book, that all services are running (did a reboot of VMM server too) and that all other VMM functions work OK. I don't believe that SQL is only used for user-roles...
Acting as Domain admin and VMM admin.
    All updates are installed.
Please find the report @the and and a screen shot attached.
    Thanks for any help.

I (quite honestly) am one of those folks that generally do not read the KB articles associated with a patch or UR or SP - as you don't expect details like have been put into this particular one.
But as Kristian pointed out - within that KB article is the SQL script that modifies / updates this SQL Stored Procedure.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2014/01/29/how-to-update-scvmm-2012-r2-to-update-rollup-1.aspx
Needless to say, the feedback was given to MSFT that folks would overlook that this SQL script needed to be run.  So we are just trying to help out.

  • Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'Name: NT AUTHORITY\IUSR SID: S-1-5-17...

    Hi,
I have a customized SharePoint page that takes user input data, validate some of the data, then writes the data to a SharePoint list. If an exception occurs, it will write the error to the ULS.
All was working well in the test environments.
However, recently we noticed that in the QA environment, when it's trying to write to ULS, it causes another issue:
Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'Name: NT AUTHORITY\IUSR SID: S-1-5-17 ImpersonationLevel: Impersonation' in database 'SP_F1_Config' on SQL Server instance 'SQL01'. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. The EXECUTE
permission was denied on the object 'proc_putObjectTVP', database 'SP_F1_Config', schema 'dbo'.
I've traced through the code and found that it fails on the line:
        SPDiagnosticsServiceBase.GetLocal<LoggerError>();
where LoggerError is the logger class inheritng SPDiagnosticsServiceBase
I have also googled around today, but the most positive solution provided
on this page was to manually modify SQL object permission, which I believe we should not do, and would not be supported by Microsoft.
    So the questions are:
Why is AUTHORITY\IUSER used for SPDiagnosticsServiceBase.GetLocal()? Should that account actually be allowed to access SharePoint databases? (This is an intranet environment and using claim based/Windows authentication, no no anonymous access would be allowed
    anyway).
I've checked the Application Pool account permissions in SQL, comparing the environment that works and the one that doesn't work, and the permissions/roles/schemas look identical on server and database level. Where else can I check?
On the environment that works, I logged on as SharePoint administrator, created a new SharePoint Visual Web Part solution in Visual Studio, just to test writing to ULS. Then I press F5 in Visual Studio to debug it. It also has the same problem.
It just seems like somehow the user's identity (or whatever the identity SharePoint required) was not passed to SPDiagnosticsServiceBase.
Any suggestions, or even better, solutions would be really really much appreciated!

    Hi,
Thanks for your sharing, it will be userful to the people who stuck with the same issue.

    > Install ABAP on your system which provides files for them to crunch in an SQL (or similar) database.

Yes, the interfaces of those tools are often a hazard in themselves...
I typically recommend customers to delete them completely. Sometimes this comment also exists in the code itself, but who reads code now-a-days in GRC projects, and why should they have to? ;-(
This looks very much like one of those tools (where the SQL statements are built externally).

  • Integration Builder - Repository - Users - Roles

Is it possible to come up with ABAP role with the help of which he can login to Integration Repository but can not change any of the objects but for the one in a specific component.
I could make it work where the user is given SAP_XI_DEVELOPER role and  I can restrict him to access some objects using another Role that I built in IR. I know about excluding him full edit access etc. This is like giving him full access with modify permissions with SAP_XI_Developer and excluding him permission on some of the objects.
I tried to give a test user SAP_XI_DIPLAY_USER and then giving him include-fulledit on a specific Software component. But this did not work.
If anybody worked on this please let me know.
    Regards
    Mike

    Hi Michael,
Yes it is possible, this is what i found on help.sap.com,
To make changes to authorizations on the ABAP side, proceed as follows for each dialog user role:
           1.      Call transaction PFCG.
           2.      Copy the single role SAP_XI_<role>_ABAP into the customer namespace (replace the prefix SAP).
           3.      Create a new composite role in the customer namespace (for example, *_XI_<role>).
           4.      Assign the new single role (suffix _ABAP) to the new composite role.
           5.      Assign the new SAP single role (suffix _J2EE) to the new composite role.
           6.      Make changes to the new single role (suffix _ABAP).
           7.      Generate an authorization profile for the new single role (suffix _ABAP).
Basically what is important is that the single roles with a J2EE suffix are still assigned to the current composite role. These J2EE single roles are known to the J2EE applications and are required for automatic authorization assignments during deployment.
    I hope it helps,
    Thanks,

  • Urgent: User Roles assigned to Sales Orgs and document types

    Dear Guru's :
I have job user roles one side and sales orgs on otherside. We are trying to find out which sales orgs are using what sales document types.
All i am trying to achieve is connect those two and make a report. it needs to be done by SE16
    First step is :
PFCG- Enter Role u2013Click glasses-Authorizations-Display Authorization data
you need to identify the authorization objects for each T-code and then assign the appropriate values for each authorization object. these authorization objects assigned to a Role and then, allowed T-codes are assigned to Role and
My Basis Person to Create one AUTHORIZATION OBJECT      V_VBAK_AAT  Sales Document: Authorization for Sales Document Types  and assign your required transaction codes to that authorization and assign them to the users.
User IDs which can use this Role (set of authorizations) can be assigned to this role.
    Second step is achieved through SE16 ;
    Execute this two table :
There is no one-shot for this However there is a way out for this outside SAP.
You can download AGR_1251 and AGR_1252 for the selected roles and use MS Excel or Access to do this compare for you. Its a bit more tricky than said, however once you get a hang of it, I think its a good way of reducing the efforts of making use of individual compare reports.
Any one knows how to do this i am kind of lost here.  Could you help me to organize this process / steps.
Full points will be given to who helps me answer my question.
    Thank you in advance.

    Dear Raghu and all:
I am very much thankful to you for your answer Raghu. This is exactley what i was looking for. Could you throw more light on this topic. Or do you know where can i get more info.or  more tcodes related to this topic. I am using SUIM and PFCG. I dont know much about this transactions. Could you please help me to understand this topic.
I have Authorization object through which i found out which sales documents are attached to users. I dont know next step in this process. Or does any one know any thing about this subject.  Any help will be grateful.

  • Java Database User Role Privileges Framework

    Hello
I am looking Java Framework which automatic generates Java Code for
    Database User Role Privileges Administration.
Like in database we have a table of Users
Now we have table of Author, Book etc. (Related to Library)
Now i want to give insert permission to user1
update and delete permission to user2 etc.
    Is there any framework related
Remeber i do not need User Role Privileges in database.
I need a framework to do this job.
    Thanks in Advance.

There are tables created under the SAPSR3DB or SAP<SID>DB schema with extension .UME, such as SAPSR3DB.UME.ACL_ACL or SAPSR3DB.UME_ACL_ACLENTRY for AS-JAVA.
There are other tables with the UME extension too.

  • FM for User roles

    Hi friends,
Is there any function module to read the user roles against an user. I know the table as AGR_USERS. But i want a funtion module to fetch the data.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Srikanth.S

    Hi skk ,
Thanks for your answer. I got the whole user roles attached with a perticular user with the Fm BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL which you have suggested. Thank you very much.
and i should thank Mr. Chandrasekhar J. B'cause he suggested a FM RSRA_USERS_OF_AGR_GET. But this is for other side. That is, once we know the role we can find who are all users having this role attached. That may be helpfull for others. But my problem is i know the user name i want user roles for the perticular user. i Got the solution from Mr.Skk.
and thanks to Mr. Abhijit V Patil. He gave a very valuable program 'IAM_API_TESTFRAME'. this will help full for others.
Thank you very much those who are reply my query.

  • How to assign a Bex report to the user role

    Hi Expert
in the Excel, when you open a query, the system will display history, faviourate, infoarea, role button on the left side of the popup screen. if you click the role button, you can see the user authorized Bex report. now I have created a Bex report and I want to assign it to the user role.
    how to do that?
does anyboday know which transcation or setting can solve this problem?
    thank you in advance!

    Hi,
You need to add the object S_RS_COMP:
S_RS_COMP: Authorizations for using different components for the query definition. This authorization object is very important for reporting
The authorization object S_RS_COMP restricts query component activities. For example, it restricts if someone can create queries, change queries, or execute queries. You can restrict query creation, change, and execution by the InfoArea and InfoCube. If your company has one InfoCube for sales information and another for financial data, you can restrict a user to only those queries written for the sales InfoCube or the financial InfoCube.
You could also use S_RS_COMP if you want to protect by query name. For example, you have an InfoCube for sales data. Every sales manager needs access to this InfoCube. However, sales managers in different lines of business are not allowed to execute the same query.
    Please visit:

to know more about BW Objects.
    Hope it helps.
Please award points if it is useful.

  • How to hide custom fields in Shopping cart depening on user role

    Hi,
We have some custom fields in shopping cart for basic view. Every thing works fine. Now client is asking to hide all the custom fields based on user role.
I found some function module to fund roles. now my main problem is unable to find the cusotm filed screen field name.
When I tryed to find the screen field name using BBPSC02/03, its giving 'GT_DISPLAY_100-FIELD'. If I try to use this field, its not working.
Could you pls tell me how to find custom screen filed name to hide in shopping cart.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
As Laurent suggested,to hide the custom fields based on the user role, you need to implement the logic in BADi "BBP_CUF_BADI_2".
You have the importing parameter IV_USER in this BADI.
Pass this parameter to tables AGR_USERS and AGR_USERT  to get the user role
    OR
    Use FM: BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
with USERNAME= user id and can retrieve Table: ACTIVITYGROUPS Field:AGR_NAME
if you want the otherway around
you can also use FM: RSRA_USERS_OF_AGR_GET
with I_AGR_NAME= role and you can retieve Table: ACTIVITY_GROUPS_USERS Field: UNAME(usr Id)
Then check the value for the User role as obtained using the above steps and accordingly set the property for the custom fields to hide them.
    BR,
    Deepti.

  • How can I add a user Role member that is from a different domain

We are currently building out SCOM 2012 R2 to provide monitoring as a service to some of our customers.  As of now we have the RMS on our own department's domain (Domain A) which we have full control of and we have a gateway server that is on the company
wide domain (Domain B) so that we can monitor other departments devices as the leverage this system.
Monitoring is working just fine on both domains and we are just working on fine tuning SCOM so that we can roll it out as a service we offer to our customers.  One of the next steps we are working on before rolling it out is giving specific users access
to view only their own devices, dashboards, and groups.  So I created a Read-Only profile and went to add a user to test it out, but that user is on Domain B and SCOM is unable to resolve this account.  I'm seeing Event ID 26319 with Error Code 1332.
How can I get SCOM to discover devices on a different domain so that I can give them different permissions for accessing the Operations Console and/or Web Console?  Is this possible?

Thanks for any help I can get in resolving this issue.
    Jake

The SCOM Management Server is in Domain A.  I've tried it already and it has failed.
So just to clarify the method I used was to go to Administration>Security>User Roles.  Then New User Role>Read-Only Operator.  In the Create User Role Wizard I then gave the User Role a name, Clicked "Add" under User Role Members.
Then the Select Users or Groups window pops up and I changed the Locations from Domain A to Domain B and searched for the user, which it's able to find, then clicked "OK" to add it to the User Role members which it does just fine.  On
the next page which is Group Scope I checked the one group I want this account to have access to and then click next.  This brings me to Dashboards and Views where I click the radio button for "Only the dashboards and views selected in each tab are
approved" and chose the folder of dashboards I want this account to access and then click next.  This brings me to the Summary and I click "Create".  At this point it thinks for a moment then closes out the wizard but the new Read-Only
Operator does not appear.  I then look in Event Viewer and see the Event I pasted above.
Am I doing something wrong here?  Any guidance on how to get around this issue would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jake

  • User, Role, Profile Synchronization Job Fails

    Hi Gurus,
When I am scheduling a job the User, Role, and Profile Sync. job fails giving an error
"Cannot assign a java.lang.String object of length 53 to host variable 5 which has JDBC type VARCHAR(40)."
This happens when the synchronization happens with a portal system. We dont have a ruleset for the portal system, So if I put in a "*", it includes this system and results in the error, If I manually select all other system, it works fine. Is there any way to remove this error so that I can schedule the jobs without having to select every system manually.
    Regards,
    Chinmaya

    Hi,
As per my knowledge, in the Portal system, you should perform only user sync. Roles/profile sync will not work since portal will have workset roles.
Please refer SAP Note 1168120, which may help you to understand the limitations
    Hope this helps!!

  • Windows Small Business Server User Roles - Missing or deleted

    I have a small business server sbs 2008 r2.
The user roles, Standard, Administrator, Standard w/ admin are no longer available. I don't know why, or how. All I can guess is the previous IT admin, removed the roles, without permission.
I am wondering is there a way to simply get them back?

As Robert says, You can create them manually.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794287(v=ws.10).aspx
    KnowHow :
Behind the scenes, each User Role is created as a disabled user account in Active Directory, and these accounts are used as “Templates” for user creation. To view these, open Active Directory Users and Computers (from the
Administrative Tools start menu folder, or through Start à Type “dsa.msc” and press enter. Drill down to the SBSUsers folder under “<yourdomain>\MyBusiness\Users\” and you’ll see several disabled user accounts listed.

  • Request Offerings not showing up for custom User role in SMPortal

    Hello All,
I've created a custom End User role and scoped it to the domain users group.
To this role I want to show a specific set of Request Offerings on the portal
For that Purpose I created a new Service Offering and added these Request Offerings to it.
I then went on to create a Catalog Group and added the Service Offering to it.
I then created the custom user role based on the EndUser role and allowed them to see all Forms, all Queues, All CI's and on the Catalog group I select that they could only see the Catalog Group which I just created.
I then logged in into the SMPortal and was expecting that my Service Offering would be shown to them.
However, they don't see the service offering.
    What could cause this?
    Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance!
    Filip

You have to add the Service Offerings and the Request Offerings in the Catalog Group. Nesting doesn't work because Service Offerings and Request Offerings are different types of objects.
This offers the option the manage the access to Service Offerings and Request Offerings very granular if needed. For instance you can control access to a Service Offering in one Catalog Group related to one user role (A) and use two additional Catalog Groups
with different Request Offerings related to other user roles (B) and (C). Result will lead to:
User in Role A and B -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings B
User in Role A and C -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings C
User in Role A, B and C -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings B and C
User in Role A only -> Don's see anything because of the missing permission on any Request Offering. So the "empty" Service Request won't show up in the portal.
    Hope his helps.
