Using ADF BC in a Task Form (SOA Human Task)

Hi!
I need to display data from a database table in a task form for a human task. This data is not part of the task payload.
I read some tutorials about using BC in ADF Applications and applied the same principles to my task form application, so I created a VO and a read-only table. Anyway when the form is displayed in the worklist I get a "Connection <name> not found" exception and lots of NPE. The connection is valid, i.e. declared under WLS JDBC conns.
I am using 11.1.1.2 version of FMW.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mick

Mick,
You have to create new or use existing datasource in the worklogic admin console. Make sure the datasource is connected to the right database. Visit the following page for more information on how to create datasource.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/integration.1111/e10537/T430238T430340.htm
Make sure to suffix the datasource name with DS. Because connectivity from ADF model is not working without DS. We tried many times and worked only if we Suffix the datasource and JNDI name with DS.
If your datasource JNDI name is, for an example jdbc/MyDataSourceDS. set this value at your Application Module Configuration section for local and Shared. Note, you can only deploy and test in the server where the datasource got created.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Thanks
Annadurai.

  • Do some processing before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow

    Hi,
    I am working on JDev11g.
    I want to create SelectItems of SelectOneChoice dynamically before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow
    I tried by implementing RegionController class's method RefreshRegion in my backing bean of jsf page fragement to do some processing before loading region
    But it seems to be not feasible approach because it is getting called every time any component on fragement gets partially submitted.
    Is there any method which is called only first time when region is loaded ?
    Or any other solution to achieve this.
    Regards,
    Devang

    Hi,
    don't think so. You would need a phase listener, but I don't see how you get it in. Wha about using a dynamic region and then use the method that is called from the dynamic region first time it is rendered?

    Generally it is if you're comparing identical compressors & resolutions but there's something else happening here.  If you're worried about quality degrading; check the original file details on the camera (or card) either with Get Info or by opening in QuickTime and showing info. You should find the iPhoto version (reveal in a Finder) is a straight copy.  You can't really increase image quality of a movie (barring a few tricks) by increasing file size but Apple editing products create a more "scrub-able" intermediate file which is quite large.
    Good luck and happy editing.

    Oracle supports feedback form metalink was; "What you exactly want to approach is not possible in Htmldb"
    I can guess that it is not
    exactly possible since I looked at the forums and documantation etc. but
    couldnt find anything similar than this link; "http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/tabular_form.h
    t". But this is a very common need and I thought that there must be at least a workaround?
    How can I talk or write to Html Db development team about this since any ideas, this is very important item in a critial project?
    I will be able to satisfy the need in a functional way if I could make the
    select lists in the tabular form dynamic with the noz_id;
    SELECT vozellik "Özellik",
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(2, t2.nozellik_deger, 'select vdeger

    SELECT

  • Dynamic JDBC Credentials and using ADF Region ERROR

    Hi,
    I used solution by Steve Muench, Dynamic JDBC Credentials (for ADF Faces Rich Client)
    (129.     11g Dynamic JDBC Credentials for Model 1, Struts, Trinidad, and ADF Faces Rich Client 11.1.1.0.0 06-AUG-2008), but it works not correct in case of using ADF Dynamic Region (or simply ADF Region).
    I have added in ViewControllerJSFRichFaces a page (main.jspx) including ADF Dynamic Region consisting of 2 simple tasks flows. Action of the Login button, if login and password are correct, redirect to main.jspx
    There are to cases.
    1) Login and password are correct:
    In this case all work fine.
    2) Login and password are not correct:
    It does not work. redirect to login.jspx does not occur as it is expected, but the following page (main.jspx) is loaded, herewith thrown exception: oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.
    I would be very grateful you for help.

    Hi,
    hard to say from your description if this is a bug or an implementation problem. Note that errors that occur in regions are not handled by the exception handler of the the parent page and require special handling within the region. In other words, if the problem is in the region then it needs to be handled in here. I think the right strategy here is to not show the region until a valid connection exist. • Help required building ADF-Swing/ADF-Faces using ADF Business Components

    My question is in regards to how you can go about building a light swing application to an ADF model?
    In particular if I were to say that we were developing a 3-tier project whereby we had a database tier, a series of EJB-ADF façade session beans to the database (middle-tier), and a swing client communicating with the session beans (view-controller tier), how would you go about developing these screens?
    In particular can we develop these screens using ADF-Faces and also ADF-Swing?
    The EJB session façade beans of course are ADF app modules with customised methods. The methods would return back customised DTO objects. These DTO objects are wrappers to row objects ADF would create. This would be mainly due to making these facade beans web service enabled (Oracle state that these methods cannot return oracle.jbo objects if they are to be web service enabled).
    This would be typically deployed to an app server, like Oracle App Server 10G.
    Could you please have a look at this, as I am doing a lot of research into this.
    eg. Taking example from oracle magazine sept/oct 2006
    with slight enhancements
    package oramag.frameworks.example.common;
    import oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule;
    import oramag.frameworks.customdto.EmployeeDTO;
    public interface HRService extends ApplicationModule {
    void deleteCurrentEmpAndCommit();
    EmployeeDTO findEmployee(int employeeId); // new method
    import oramag.frameworks.customdto.EmployeeDTO;
    public class HRServiceImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl {
    public void deleteCurrentEmpAndCommit() {
    Row empRow = getEmpView().getCurrentRow();
    if (empRow != null) {
    empRow.remove();
    getDBTransaction().commit();
    public EmployeeDTO findEmployee(int employeeId)() {
    EmployeeDTO employeeDTO = null;
    EmployeesImpl employees = getEmployees();
    employees.setNamedWhereClauseParam("EmployeeId", employeeId);
    employees.executeQuery();
    if(employees.hasNext()) {
    EmployeesRowImpl employee = (EmployeesRowImpl)employees.next();
    employeeDTO = new EmployeeDTO(employee);
    return employeeDTO;
    public EmployeesImpl getEmployees() {
    return (EmployeesImpl)findViewObject("Employees");
    Now given the above code snippet, how could you turn this into an ADF-Swing/ADF Faces application so that if a user using the swing application enters an employee id, then the application will execute the query on the app server, the app server in turn returns the results to the client, and the client finally display the results. Typical MVC example.
    Cheers
    Rodney

    The tutorial is for ADF BC used with JavaServer Faces.
    While the tutorial doesn't cover it, we also support drag and drop development for Swing and visual WYSIWYG layout for Swing panels and windows, too. For a very simple example, watch screencast #4 on my blog here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/06/24/jdeveloperAdfScreencasts.html
    One thing I have noticed is that when using ADF business components, when the app module returns a custom DTO object like the above example, it returns the data in a element structure according to the data control palette.
    You don't generally ever need to create your own custom DTO's when working with ADF for use by client UI's. The only situation where can be necessary -- until we simplify this in the JDeveloper/ADF 11g release -- is when you desire to expose custom methods that can return sets/arrays of typed row structures through a web service. However, web services are not involved/required in building 3-tier Swing applications.
    When dropping onto a page it does so like a string and doesnt give option to display the data in a read only form etc. Is there anything we need to do, to get the functionality.
    It's more of what you don't need to do :-)
    Just leverage the active data model that the ADF application module provides. You can read more about it in section 4.5 "Understanding the Active Data Model" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html). Your UI's bind to view object instances in the data model, and your UI's are automatically kept up to date without needing to write methods that return data. I short article I wrote that preceeded my writing the ADF Developer Guide content on this topis is here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2006/01/26/theAdfBusinessComponentsActiveDataModel.html
    I know that when dropping a view object you get this functionality. Also was wondering if we were to pass an object of thios type back to the model it might not give us the rich functionality like input forms, like what Oracle provides if we were to drop a enitity view object.
    Just use the active data model and everything becomes totally easy, with no changes required to switch between local or three-tier deployment configurations.
    Trying to do everything with hand-coded DTO beans is really going the hard way.
    Could you help us regarding this?

  • How to create a floating layout using adf

    Hi ,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11g to develop an application.
    I am coming across problems when i am trying to build the look and feel.
    Basically i want to develop as per the following link.
    http://webfusion.kcmo.org/coldfusionapps/ActionCenterRequest/getstatus.cfm
    I have been able to create the layout using adf layouts and components(af:panelStechlayout, af:panelgrouplayout), but the problem i am facing is that i want the entire page to scroll and have a floating layout.
    But in my case, the panels are scrolling, so when i resize the browser or change the resolution, everything appears to be broken in parts.
    Besides to recreate the above layout i have to include everything under the "center" facet, hence using templates is creating issues.
    following is the code i am using(just the structure code), this looks preety simple but i am not able to figure this one out.

    Try creating a layout that uses a panelGroup scroll as the top container and use panelBorders inside it.
    Something like this:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"

  • Validation messages in JSF (when not using ADF faces)

    I've spent some time with JDeveloper 11 and would like to use it on an upcoming project. I have to target IE 6, so I won't be able to take advantage of ADF Faces. Instead I'd like to use the ADF Business Components with a standard JSF interface so it can be used by people still running IE 6.
    I've created a Business Component from a database table and can bind a JSF HTML Creation Form by dragging the appropriate view from the AppModule in the Data Controls pane. However, when I attempt to submit the page without all the fields being valid I get the following validation error message:
    j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required. j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required.
    I've tried making this more descriptive, but editing the error message in the Validation Rules section of the Business Component has no effect. What's the best way to convey a meaningful validation message to the user when not using ADF Faces?
    Also - I'm still very new to JDeveloper. Since I won't be able to rely on my users having Internet Explorer 7, would you recommend I stay with JDeveloper 10? The examples and documentation I've seen so far for JDeveloper 11 appear heavily biased towards using ADF Faces so I'm starting to wonder how much support is there for using plain old JSF.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hi,
    if you are completely new to this then I suggest to use JDeveloper 10.1.3 and ADF Faces in there. Its good to use with IE6 as well. Currently we do have more tutorials available for this release than for 11, which for this reason is a better choice for someone new to this

  • Create .jspx page to add users using ADF security.

    Hello,
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3. I've created a login page (form based) with different users and roles using ADF Security. I'm able to successfully login/logout through the users and get redirected to the home page. However, i'm asked to create a page by which i can create users and add roles to them. This page will only be accessible by the administrator. I searched this forum for anything that might help, but couldn't find anything. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,

  • Displaying Master-Data using ADF DI

    Hi
    I'm trying to display a master data(as a form) and a detail data(as a table) in excel sheet using ADF DI.
    The process I followed is as below.
    1. This is on HR schema. I created a departmentsVO, and dragged Departments from the data control to the top half of a jspx page as a form, and Employees datacontrol that is wihtin the Departments datacontrol into the lower half of the page.
    2. I ran the page, and the master-detail is perfect i.e., when i click navigate the departments form, corresponding employees of that department are coming in a table in the lower half.
    But the problem is when i used this pagedef file to use in an excel file.
    1. Alll form elements are available in the excel as individual components. Table is available as a tree component.
    2. I binded all the form elements in the excel, also bound prev and next buttons, all at the top section of the excel file.
    3. Binded the table component in the bottom of the excel file.
    3. Defined table download action and Worksheet downsync action as worksheet properties. Workbook prop are also defined properly.
    When I ran the page,
    Form elements and table is prefilled, navigation of form is also working fine. But when I navigate through the form, the corresponding employees are not changing, they are all employees of the first department id.
    My requirement is to change the employee table as the department form is being navigated.
    Can someone pls give some suggestions. What i think I may be missing is that the table is not getting refreshed as I navigate the form(But I already associated the table download action to the worksheet properties).
    Thanks in advance,
    Ravi.

    Found a solution. This might be helpful to others...so m posting it :-)
    While binding the 'Next' button, I added 'Download' component action of the table to the actionset of the button(which already has UpSycn, Next, DownSync).
    So, on click on the button, it actually downloads the latest data to the table. And master - details were shown just perfectly :-)

  • [solved] ADF BC - Automatically fill in form fields

    Hi all,
    I think i just need pointing in the right direction. I am using ADF 11g BC.
    Here is the case in EMP/DEPT terms. I click a row on the DEPT table, and click add employee button. A popup launches with a form. I want to have the DEPTNO and DEPTNAME filled in already based on the row that was clicked on. I currently am using createWithParameters when the button is pressed and am able to send in the deptname and deptno as parameters, i am just unsure of how to actually fill in those 2 fields of the form.
    Any pointers/suggestions?

    I had that problem too recently. It seems the parameters table is disabled wrongly. I worked around that be manually editing the XML via the Source tab. Here's an example of a "Create with parameters" action with two parameters:
        <action IterBinding="XyzIterator"
                id="CreateWithParams" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                Action="createWithParams">
          <NamedData NDName="XyzId"
                     NDValue="#{someBean.someValue}"
                     NDType="java.lang.String"/>
          <NamedData NDName="Year" NDValue="#{someBean.someOtherValue}"
                     NDType="oracle.jbo.domain.Number"/>

  • Using Enter key to submit a form, Attn: Didier

    Hi,
    I have an ADF form on my page and want to use Enter key to submit the form. I submit the form using a CommandLink which has a method bound to it as its action in a managed bean. I have set submitCL as the Id of this CommandLink and has set this in my form:
    <af:form defaultCommand="submitCL">
    but the Enter does not work. I'm using IE 7.0 and JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.
    Thanks in advance,
    S/\EE|)

    Hi Saeed,
    not sure if this is related or not, but I would test it with another browser as IE is not supported. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/10.1.3.3/install.html#browsers
    Also, when the command button is in the header facet of a table or treeTable, the value of defaultCommand must also contain the table or treeTable ID.
    For example: <af:form defaultCommand="theTreeTableId:submitCL" ...>Regards,
    Didier.

  • How to insert record in table using ADF Table

    Hi,
    I am developing and application in ADF .it consist 5 tables.i need to insert into 1 table that contains IDs that are reffered from other tables and on ADF Table fi i dont want to show those IDs. Can somebody provide me solution how to do that?
    like i have a SkillTable - that contains attributes Resource No(number) ,module Id(number), Track id(number), skill_type(number), skill_rating(number), experience(number).
    Track id is reffered from track table
    Module id is reffered from module table
    Resource table is reffered from resource table
    skill_type and skill_rating from lookup table
    and i need to insert into SkillTable using ADF Table. we dont want to show Track id,module id,codes for skill_type nad skill_rating on ADF Table instead we want to show trackname and module name ,code values for skill_type and Skill_rating .
    when we create ADF table for this skill table it shows me ids but what i want is that in each row it should show resource name,modulename,track name,and for skill_type and skill_rating it should show name of skill_types and Skill_rating rather than codes for each skill_type and Skill_rating.
    we tried to insert by creating view ,but didnot work.
    plz provide any solution.
    Thnakls

    Hi,
    Thanks for quick reply.but let me tell u my problem in more detail.
    To insert into skill_table I have created a VO that contains ResourceNo, track_id, module_id,skill_type,skill_rating,experience. And I drag it on ADF creation form and also have created read only LOV for resource_name from resorce_table, LOV for skill_type,skill_rating from Lookup table,
    And mapped those LOV to resource_no,skill_type,skill_rating on insert page.
    For track_id I have converted inputtextBox to SelectinputText to create databound LOV which will popup a window that contain master detail for track_table and module_table which shows all track_names in master and corresponding module_names in detail table, and on that window I have select button when we click that button selected track_id and selected module_id will get populated to insert skill page in track_id selectinputtextbox and module_Id inpiuttextbox.
    Now what I want is that instead of track_id and module_id populated on insert page coz these are of id's actually and we want to show values of these id's from other tables, I need to show selected track_name and module_name over on insert page.
    Not getting any idea how to do that???
    Plz help.
