Using apple keyboard's default keys (play/pause, next, previous song) with iTunes on windows 7
Hi,
I'm using my apple keyboard (wired with numpad) connected to a windows 7 machine. I'd like to know if there is any way for the default iTunes keys (previous song, play/pause song and next song) to work on windows? It's very annoying to constantly alt tab to iTunes and use the arrow keys and spacebar... Also, can I link the mute, lower and higher sound buttons to the audio output?

I have this same problem, but with Windows XP Pro. It MUST be a iTunes and a Microsoft IntelliType driver issue.
I JUST reinstalled my computer and loaded all new everything and the buttons worked off and on (depending on focus). I don't remember doing anything to make it work last time. The only thing I remember was installing a plug-in so my ATI Remote Wonder worked with iTunes.
I downloaded Chris's dll as suggested. Worked flawlessly. I hope Apple and/or Microsoft fix this in the next release of their software.

When you say "mouse button", do you mean clicking on the controls in the upper left of the iTunes window or do you mean that you have special media keys on your mouse?

Go to Solution.Yes, I did try with Xperia Z3 and it works fine for me. If you have tried safe mode, you should perhaps try a software repair on your phone via PC Companion to see if this can help:

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

Play/Pause/Next/Previous functionality doesn't work using keyboard/remote
I have recently upgraded my 24'' iMac to a 27'' i5 iMac and migrated my information via the Migration Assistant using a gigabit peer-to-peer (crossover cable) ethernet connection. Since then or shortly after the play, pause, next and forward buttons on the keyboard stopped working (or they never worked, I am unsure).
Moreover, the same functionalities when accessed using the Apple remote also does not work, note that the volume up and down buttons do work from the Apple remote.
I am also having difficulty getting my digital camera identified using the USB interface but that is another show. The camera is not even seen by the Image Capture tool in the Utilities, note that I succeeded once in getting it identified but not since then. The only change I can remember was installing the MouseWizard tool for extending gestures of the magical mouse, which is probably the finest thing I have got from the whole upgrade (the most easily appreciable). Please ignore the matter of my digital camera, for me mentioning it only for the slight possibility that it may be connected. To this humble users they are two things that are not working at all. Some of the applications I have installed is Parallels Desktop 4.0, which seems to identify the camera once connected but not the Mac OS X system.
Thanks in advance for your generous help.Today I made a brave international call to Apple in the USA, realising that less than 90 days has passed since I purchased my new iMac. The phone call lasted for 62 minutes and was utterly embarrassing and genuinely awkward for me as it was totally unhelpful and very, very costly. The guy on the other side was very unable to provide any meaningful help and it was not easy for me to tell him that he was not, so I had to go on with the costly call which was mostly filled with moments of silence and contemplation (and forgetting -for the thousandth time, that my keyboard is wireless, telling me one time after the other to try to unplug it from the USB and connect it again).
Anyway, I am delighted to have discovered the problem myself, which is amazingly simple, and unbelievably responsible of both of the two (seemingly unconnected) problems I was having (the problem with the functional keys on the keyboard and the identification of my digital camera).
The problem was simply solved by deleting a textual file from the root of the home folder which is the file called ".CFUserTextEncoding". I have no idea what this textual file stores (a string of the form "X:XX") and how could the four bytes in it be of so much annoyance in my case, but deleting it can bring the media control keys back to life and make the digital camera identify effortlessly. Quite puzzling I would say. -
I would like to know if there is such an app that allows my iPhone to act as a remote for my iPad ie if I'm recording something on my iPad I can use my iPhone to press record/play/pause/forward or rewind my iPad via my iPhone
As the King says, if your friends wifi router was relatively new, it likely has not been picked up by Apple's location based information database system and thus there is no location information associated with it. So your iPad had no way of getting its location.
The wifi location databases are traditionally updated by wardriving - literally companies employ people to drive around sniffing out active wifi signals and associating an approximate location to it. Some companies also have web sites to submit that information if owners wish to (Apple does not seem to have one though), and the various companies with wifi location databases buy and sell their information. Bottom line is though, it can take weeks, months or sometimes even longer for a residential router to get picked up - depends on where you live (more rural, likely the longer time it takes).
When I moved from VA to NC it took up to 6 months for mine to reflect my new location (I checked it once the week I moved in, and then periodically thereafter, and it finally was getting it right after about 6 months) and I live in a pretty densley populated area (triangle NC). -

Hi, I have now got ne new wireless keyboard because my old one broke. I connected the keyboard, the F3 key (Mission Control) functions, the F4 key, especially for Lunchpad does not work, I'm Lion on it, previously on the old keyboard I had in 2009, he occupiedwith Launchpad F5.
Have System Preferences / Keyboard / Keyboard Shortcuts reset everything goes ......... but not yet!!

Your migration to Lion brought over a previous hot key preferences document. And this contains one bad key that wasn't updated.
- Quit System Preferences (if open)
- Delete this document to remove a carry-over mapping error.
- Then logout
Note: That this will delete any existing modified keyboard assignments. Re-assign changes manually.
Note2: This document is in your users preferences folder.

While playing music on my iphone 5, i am now unable to play, pause, or skip songs while my phone is locked. I can still change the volume and scrub through songs. This has always worked for me until now. As far as i know, i have not changed any settings. This is whle my phone is locked both on the slide up toolbar/menu interface and on the normal screen before i slide to unlock.
I skimmed through this very long post but from what I read, this sounds much more like a coverage issue with your network than a device issue. I have not seen or heard of this issue before and I do not have this issue personnally and & I use the music app quite frequently while working in the yard.
The DND feature should not be a factor at all if you're sure it's turned off. I always recommend restarting your phone by holding down the home button + the lock button for 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Once the phone reboots, do a test to see if this has helped to resolve the issue.
If not, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then, test it out again. Post back if neither of these solutions solve your issue. -
How can I hoock to IOS Multitask bar buttons (previous, play/pause, next)?

If thi small limitation goes away, this Native Extension will be updated and all this will be possible!

Set up the same iCloud account in Settings>iCloud, then turn photo stream to On.

Hi. Not sure what happened but I was able to use my ipad in December and it was backed up(sync with itunes). Now there is a message on the screen "iCloud Backup.....your icloud hasn't been backed up in 3 weeks...." and to click on ok.
I'm unable to clear the message. I syned it with itunes and tried again but its still there and I can't do anything with the ipad. The ipad go blank in a couple seconds, and I cannot use slide to unlock.
Can someone please help me with this.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
I bought song with itunes card. The song won't play on my computer or devices. The messages says I need to authorize my computer to play the song. However, when I "authorize" my computer I get message that this computer is already authorized.

I actually bought 2 Billy Joel songs NY State of Mind from Essential Billly Joel and Italian Restaurant from Greatist Hits vol 1. Neither song would play.
I went back the Apple store and tried to re-download NYSOM. It let me do it for free. Before I checked I tried to re-dowload IR but inadvertantly selected same song but from The Stranger. I had to pay for this one. The re-downloaded NYSOM still didn't work but IR I bought from Stranger worked. So, I bought NYSOM from Greatest Hits vol 1. Didn't work!!! Tried again and bought from another album, Turnstiles, and that one worked. So, I bought 5 songs, only 2 of which will work.
So, now I ask - is there any way to get my money back? -

I have changed my apple id, and its ok when i sync my Iphone with Itunes, but ON my Iphone still my old apple-ID is there. I can NOT buy things from Itunes or Upgrade anything now, how to fix this?
I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!! Now I have two addresses and can't access the one that directly affects my devices.

With previous editions of iTunes for Windows, I could play a CD at the same time as it was being imported. That does not seem to work anymore. Why not, and is there a way to do both with the most current version? I am running a Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 and the most recent vesion of iTunes, which, in all other respects, works well. I just can't listen to an album for the 1/2 to 1 hour that it takes to import it into my library.
