Using crystal reports to pull ZfD3 inventory information

Is it possible to use Crystal Reports to pull information from the
ZfD3
database? If so, what version of Crystal is recommended, and how
should
crystal be configured to connect to the database?
thank you
Tom

I do understand, I'm not a programmer either :-(
the company who wrote report builder is Digital Metaphors, they have a
very good
training application and additional detailed information of how to
write
reports.
The CIM schema is I agree Cr** (well not easy) and without the detail
that
Novell provide it doesn't work.
I hope that a friend of mine is going to provide the compromise that
you and I
are looking for. Namely the ability to create the SQL queries that
ART can
make, with a simple report system. Keep an eye on caledonia.net for

• Crystal Report not pulling over user prompts

I am having issues with a Crystal Report that is pulled over into a third party CRM db. I've already checked the Forums and the SAP notes but have had no luck in finding any help. Our Crystal Report pulls up fine on the client, but it is missing the user prompts (parameters) when it comes through. We don't get any errors what so ever. The user is supposed to put in the date range that they would like to see. Other reports which don't have any prompts work fine. We've run the reports in Crystal on the server and they work just fine. We are just having this problem whenever the client is trying to run the report. When we've talked to our technical support for our CRM db they said we are supposed to get a lightning bolt and then when we click on it, it will prompt the user. However, the lightning bolt doesn't even show up when the report is pulled up. I'm not sure is there is something being done wrong within our report, or if this is an issue with the Active X controls. We are using Crystal Reports XI on an SQL 2005 server. Any help is greatly appreciated - I'm very new to this so if someone could please point me in the right direction it would be helpful. Thanks!

Hello,
The Lightning bolt is the report refresh button in CR 10. CR 11 has blue circular arrows, one on top of the other. Or you can simply press the F5 key to refresh. It may be you are mixing versions or something else.
I suggest you work with your tech support to figure out how your application should work and what is posibly missing. If you have the report Designer and they work there then your app or DB has issues.
We don't know your app or how it all is supposed to work so not much we can suggest other than to get your support to help you.
If it's a WEB app then possibly the you have the Pop-up blocker enabled, the Parameter UI would considered a pop-up.
You relaly need to get your CRM support guys to help you first. If thye can't figure it out then ask them to put a call into support.
Thank you
Don

• Server error in printing in server using crystal report 2008 with VS2008

Hi,
We are using Crystal report 2008 in VS 2008. Everything working fine in local but when we deployed it in the server we are getting the below while print the report.
"An error occurred on the server. Printing will be stopped. Would you like to view the error information"
Anyhow the report is printing but I don't know why this error is occur and how to stop this. I had installed the CR runtime in the server. I dont know what is going wrong. The same we tested locally in a non crystal report installed PC.
Please help me to get rid out of this error.
Thanks

Soemthing strange going on here.
Typically this Integrated vs Classic is an issue with images where Classic uses web.config tags between <system.web><httpHandlers><u2026 crystalimagehandler../></httphandlers></system.web>
Integrated uses tags between <system.webserver>u2026<handlers><..crystalimagehandler/></handlers></system.webserver>
Not sure why this would affect printing. Do you have tags that specifying where to download the printcontrol from? On the other hand, I would think that if images had anything to do with it, then you'd get red Xs when viewing. As far as I know, the printcontrol.cab doesnu2019t need to be specified in the <system.webserver> tags.
This one may be best resolved over the phone. Phone support can be obtained here:

• Using crystal reports to generate invoices

Post Author: samme
CA Forum: General
I'm writing a report for a client who wants to print multiple invoices using crystal reports. The invoice needs to sort in date order, one date and information associated with that date on each page. Each page has a subtotal since multiple items/services are linked ot one date. The last page of the invoice needs to have the total and should at the bottom of the page with the last subtotal. Not onlastrecord does not work because if the user prints multiple invoices, crystal doesn't see the "last record" until the last record of the last invoice.
The client wants the normal invoice information on the first page of the invoice: Company Logo, Customer Address, Company Info, Invoice #, Date, etc. as well as the column headers - quantity, unit of measure, price, etc.
On all other pages of the invoice, the client wants, the company logo, the invoice # and the column headers.
I have the report grouped by invoice number and then by a date formula. I cannot seem to get where I need to be with this invoice and have been working on it for some time. Can anyone give me some direction please.....
Thanks in advance!

• How to set DbConnections when scheduling a crystal report using Crystal Reports Server Java SDK?

Post Author: Manjula
CA Forum: JAVA
Hi,
Trying to schedule a report using Crystal Reports Server Java SDK. Want to pass DBConnections from API, though passing DBConnections, the report is not being scheduled and says "Failed to retrieve data from the database.Details:[Database Vendor Code:6550].
Would be thankful if someone could answer my point as applicable.
Here is the code attached.
ISDKList dbLogons = oReport.getReportLogons();int dbLogonSize = dbLogons.size();
for(int i=0; i<dbLogonSize; ++i) {
IReportLogon dbLogon = (IReportLogon)dbLogons.get(i);
dbLogon.setDatabaseName("DBname");
dbLogon.setUserName("usrname");
dbLogon.setPassword("pwd");

Ted,
Thank you for your valuable information.
First, tried scheduling on Central Management Console and then with the java code.It worked fine, but here is another question for you.
On the Console, a report exists with ServerName and UserName harcoded and when trying to set ServerName and UserName from the java code, its throwing exception. Where as Password is not set on Console, am able to set password from java.
And DatabaseName is not set on Console (non editable), unable to set the same from java too. Why is it so?
So, my question is - though ServerName,DatabaseName,UserName,Password exists on the Console report, can't I override those parameters from java?
Would be greatful if you answer my question and provide me some guidance.
Thanks in advance.

• Again: Using Crystal Report to export excel sheet.

Morning every one, first Iu2019d like to apologize for my last question see Using Crystal Report to export excel sheet. Itu2019s pretty hard to understand and wastes your precious time. Now here is a new one hopefully it will do myself a lot of help:)
First, we have a table called HOURLY_PORTUTIL in the Database:
Column Name...........Data Type
STARTTIME ................DATE
CIRCLE.......................VARCHAR2
SERVICENAME...........VARCHAR2
PORTUTIL....................NUMBER
The data in this table looks like:
9/25/2008 00:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...0.01
9/25/2008 01:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...0.04
9/25/2008 02:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...5.04
9/25/2008 12:00:00 PM...AP...(456)...0.02
9/25/2008 00:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...0.01
9/25/2008 01:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...0.04
9/25/2008 02:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...0.04
9/25/2008 12:00:00 PM...AP...AL-MOD...0.02
9/26/2008 00:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...1.01
9/26/2008 01:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...0.34
9/26/2008 02:00:00 AM...AP...(456)...5.24
9/26/2008 12:00:00 PM...AP...(456)...7.72
9/26/2008 00:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...12.0
9/26/2008 01:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...0.23
9/26/2008 02:00:00 AM...AP...AL-MOD...0.44
9/26/2008 12:00:00 PM...AP...AL-MOD...8.11
9/25/2008 00:00:00 AM...Delhi...(456)...1.01
9/25/2008 01:00:00 AM...Delhi...(456)...2.04
9/25/2008 02:00:00 AM...Delhi...(456)...6.04
9/25/2008 12:00:00 PM...Delhi...(456)...7.02
Then we have a Cross-Table:
Columns:
.............HOURLY_PORTUTIL.SERVICENAME
Rows:
............HOURLY_PORTUTIL.CIRCLE
............HOURLY_PORTUTIL.STARTTIME
............@hourly
Summarized Fields:
..............................Sum HOURLY_PORTUTIL.PORTUTIL
The Formula @hourly converts, say, '9/25/2008 01:00:00 AM' to '01:00-02:00'.
The above all is the information of our Cross-Table configuration, but the outcome is not what we want. I find that this forum doesn't want the user to post image, so I post the actually outcome and the outcome we want in my Picasa.
Actually outcome:
What we want:
I know that the outcome looks good enough, but our customers don't think so. They want export the report to Excel sheet and have every row with exact CIRCLE and STARTTIME.
Thanks again guys:)

Hi Ashwini Yadav,
Thanks for your reply:)
I'm afraid that your answer is not perfectly right. Again I'm sorry for my vague description. The suggestion you gave us is already adopted. The total and grand total part disappeared but we still can't get what we want.
Please have a look at the new image link below, Hopefully it will give you a clear picture of what's going on:)

The original output:

• Total No of pages different in report printed using Crystal Report XI R2 vs SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8)

Currently in our application, we are using Crystal Report XI R2 for generating the reports. We are in the process of upgrading the Crystal Report to SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). I updated that on my machine and all the reports work fine. I didn't have to modify any of the reports.
However when comparing the reports, we found that there are few reports on which the total no. of pages differ from the report displayed using Crystal Report XI R2 vs SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). Comparing the reports, it looks all the data that were fit on one page earlier with version XI R2 doesn't fit on the same page with version 13.8, thereby increasing the page counts.
The fonts, page margins everything set on report itself. Nothing being set in the code.
Both the application is using the same report that is pulling the data from the same database. Our application is a web application.
Any suggestion, why this is happening.
Thanks.
Sanjay

I am not sure what is being compared here?
CRXI R2 designer to CRVS?
CR XI R2 in some version of .NET to CRVS?
CR XI R2 using RDC SDK to CRVS?
Also, is this happening on your development computer or after you deploy?
If you compare the the "Page setup" options dialog between reports that work and those that do not work, do you see any difference?
Is this a web or a win app?
Are you seeing the same issue when viewing and exporting - say export to PDF?
What is the printer driver used and it's version?

Hello Amol,
The Crystal Report for Eclipse - Java-based Crystal Reports development - is integrated into the Eclipse IDE and IBM RAD.
However, it's not integrated with JDeveloper.
You can still access the Crystal Java Reporting Component to create Java applications to view Crystal Reports, but you'd not be able to create RPT files unless you use Eclipse or RAD.

Yes, you can use the CR Server product in your Eclipse project. However, you will need to use the RAS SDK in your project instead of the CR4E SDK.

• Can i use crystal reports standard to query ODBC datasources

Post Author: Andy Forrest
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Dear all,
I'm struggling to identify if i can use crystal reports standard to query ODBC data-sources, the only information i can find is the following :-
An intuitive solution that provides basic report design functionality off of PC-based data sources, Crystal Reports XI Standard Edition will provide you with access to data stored in personal data sources.
This gives the impression that i cant access any data other than local data, can anyone give me a definitive answer or point me to somewhere that explains in a little more detail. We are about to purchase some copies but need to ensure crystal reports standard can access ODBC data sources. We are replacing crystal reports 8 standard edition and need to ensure previous reports will still run.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Well, you can certainly connect to ODBC with Crystal XI Developer. I'd be very surprised if you couldn't with the Standard version as well. Not the definitive answer you were looking for, I suppose.

• Failed to retrieve data from the database using Crystal Reports XI R2

I am using Crystal reports XI R2 and using the Universal Web Connector (connecting to Coghead). When I put some some of the fields from the database and run Preview I get "Failed to retrieve data from the database." . Where is this message coming from and how can I track down what the issue is?

Hi Jamie,
When you are trying to Browse Data of a field it is not poping up any window menas, it is unable to interact with database and get the data from database.
Try to create a new report using ODBC with Xtreem Sample Database. If you get the data in your report without any error then your connector is not working / unable to pull the data into your report.

• Can we create Multi Tabbed excel Sheet using Crystal Reports 2008

Hi,

Also if it is not supported please let us know which version supports it.

At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Desktop Scheduling tools listed at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides that functionality. It allows you to burst a single report so that each Group at level 1 becomes a separate tab. You can control the tab names (and tab colors) via fields/formulas inside the report.
You can also automate the process of exporting to (and also replacing or appending to) specified tabs inside existing workbooks.
