Using CS5.5 javacode in CS6

Dear all,
I know the java/corba api is no longer supported in CS6. Does this mean that CS5.5 code is not guaranteed to work on CS6?
I ask this because i have following issue:
aUtils = new ApplicationUtils(fullIorFilePath);
                              app = aUtils.getApplication();
//                              log.debug(app.getVersion()); <= Throws an exception
//                              app.updateFonts(); <= Throws an exception
                              int docNum = app.countDocuments(); <= NO exception.
The exception i get (in both cases):

How far can i trust to use the CS5.5 code in CS6?
The InDesignServerAPI.jar and snippets.jar, delivered with the "Adobe_InDesign_CS6_Server_SDK_370_Mac" are in my class path.
I'm testing on MacOSX 10.7.5 and i'm running my code from eclipse (as i always did).

Save as IDML. Don’t expect it to work perfectly.
New features will be lost and text will likely reflow.

hi is 5.5 master still considered a fair updated version for basic graphic design use in 2014 or should i buy cs6 master? or should i just keep using 5.5 and dont waste money on cs6 master because it wont get updated like creative cloud. i am trying to skip the cloud, im too poor for that.

I am working through a tutorial based on Illustrator CS6, but I am using CS5. The tutorial requests that I open "Image Trace" but I don't see this function on CS5... please could you advise what the equivalent tool would be? Thank you!

I think in CS5, it was called "Live-Trace." Whatever it's called, it should become available on the options panel (the context-sensitive control panel at the top) when you select a trace-eligible raster image on your artboard.

Maybe try associating AE project files with 5.5 instead of 6.

Using Application Manager, why can't I see my CS5.5 applications, just CS6 lists to buy?

I am migrating my CS5.5 apps from an old XP laptop to a new Win8. Also Acrobat Pro, so I am using Application Manager to make sure I am not offending version copy allowances, but Application Manager is not showing any of the apps on my system, jut CS6 to buy and a couple trials. Where are my current Adobe applications?

Once you save that to a location on your system.
Make sure Acrobat is Quit and then do this:
1. In the Finder go to the "Go" menu.
2. Select Go to Folder
3. Paste this path into the "Go to the Folder:" field
/Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Contents/Resources/JavaScripts/
4. Copy the file into the JavaScripts folder.
5. Launch Acrobat
Now you should see the menu spoken of in the blog and web page.

Multiple problems installing upgrade from CS5 Design Prem. to CS6 Design Prem.

I had started a thread a few days ago regarding problems that I was having while installing my upgrade from CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design Premium. Everything seemed to install fine with the exception of Acrobat X Pro. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4716847#4716847
I thought that I had resolved the issue through tech support, but apparently not. First of all, they had me install the trial version of Acrobat X which actually let me install with no errors. A couple of days passed and Acrobat asked if I would like to continue my trial or enter a serial number. I tried to use my serial that came with my upgrade but it rejected it, so I opted to continue the trial. Then earlier today as I was working in InDesign, upon launching I got a script error message.

Cannot open resource file.
After clicking OK it seemed to open InDesign fine and I was able to open files and go about working. While working I noticed that I had no effects in the dropdown menu under 'Object'. Tried the shortcut for them and nothing happened. I have yet to try to open any files containing effects (drop shadow or something) but am guessing that they will not work. My next course of action was to try to Uninstall and Re-Install. I removed CS6 and Acrobat X Pro from my computer and ran the Creative Suite Cleaner program. Then instead of installing the upgrade from the DVD, I decided to download the program from the Adobe LWS and give that a go thinking that maybe the download files are more up-to-date than the DVD that I recieved. Now it seems I am back to square one with the same problems (InDesign missing 'Effects' and who knows what else, and Acrobat X Pro failed to install), but this time I have diffent errors on the "error summary file" that shows up as a link in the "Installation Complete" dialog box. Sorry for being windy, but I really need to get this resolved. Thanks for any and all input. PC is Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 and is current on it's updates.

Making in InDesign CS5.5, editing in CS6, then opening in CS5.5 again

I'm just a student, and I've recently bought the Design Student CS6.
My school uses CS5.5, so If I make a document in InDesign CS5.5 at school, then take it home and work on it in CS6, save it then go back to the computers at school to work on it again, will it still open and work correctly?
if not, is there any way I could save it or any sort of workflow I could follow that would help me avoid hiccups?
Like say working only in CS6 at home?

Copy CS5 batch files to CS6

Hi:
Am in the process of upgrading from CS5 Design Standard to CS6 DS. I had no problem copying my custom InDesign workspaces from the earlier version to the new version.
What I'm having a hard time with, is how can I get the batch files I use in Photoshop CS5 to copy over to the current version? I distinctly remember doing this when I moved from CS4 to CS5, but for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it, and I've been looking all over the Internet with no success.
I'm on OS 10.6.8 (I know it's old, but everything works beautifully, and I'm not gonna move to ML until I absolutely have to…)

You save actions by using the flyout menu in the top right corner of the actions palette. That's the only way to migrate them safely from version to version.

What do you consider a sensible price? PS CS6 extended is available only when you purchase the CS6 Suite, which is around $1000 for the upgrade from CS5. PS 6, which is not extended, is about $200, but I'm not sure about upgrading to a single app from a suite. Adobe used to allow it, but I'm not sure about now. PS CC and Lightroom 5 combo is $9.99 a month or PS CC alone for $19.99 or the whole CC suite for $29 a month. The latest CC apps are "extended."

Using CS5 on more than 2 PCs?

I use CS5 regularly on my desktop and notebook PCs. For a few weeks in the year I use a different PC. It would be really handy if I could use CS5 on this as well. As far as I can see I could deactivate temporarily on my main PC, but I'd probably forget. What other options are there?

Adobe Creative Suite came normally with a single license that could be activated on two computers used by a single individual, such as a work desktop computer and either a notebook computer or a home computer.
If you need to use the software on more than two systems, you can play the deactivate/activate game as much as you want.
At the time that CS5 was current, the only way to have more flexibility was with various group/enterprise licenses which would have been overkill at the time.
At this point, no new licenses are being sold for any version of this software less than CS6.

What is the safest way to convert a CS5.5 file to CS6?

At the agency I work at, we've recently had issues with information loss in documents when opening a CS5.5 file in CS6 and vice versa. So, is there a better way to convert besides saving a CS5.5 .INDD file as a .IDML to open in CS6? And if not, is there a way to compare either the .INDD/.IDML files or the exported .PDFs without having to go line-by-line on every page?

I've found Acrobat Pro's document compare feature very useful for some jobs, and irritating for others. One of its modes amounts to light-tabling the two documents, but I usually want a text compare, most recently of a 450-pp. book, where the 250-pp. max. meant I had to do it in two chunks. Acrobat 9 seems happier with more RAM: I learned not to approach the 250-pp. max on my Vista64 machine with 8 GB, but the package seems more reliable on my Win7 machine with 16 GB. It often generates quite a few false positives, which take getting used to. Versions 7 and 8, if I recall correctly, would place the pages side-by-side, which I prefer; version 9 can still be made to do this, I'm note sure about X.

CS5.5 swf fine CS6 swf does not display in browser

I did a flash project for a client in CS5 and CS5.5. I have done periodic updates in 5.5 over the last year with no problems. I just did another update and now that I'm in CS6 I saved as a CS6 .swf. But when I upload the index.html file to the server I do not get the swf. I get a whitebox with the title page the the player securuty message. I then created two index.html files, one with the CS5.5 swf and one with the CS6 swf, uploaded to the server ( site server) and I get the same thing, CS5.5 isplays and CS6 does not. I looked at the embed codes and the only diference I see is the CS6 calls the Flash 15 player. I'm up to date as far as players go so I tried to change the 15 to player 11 ( thats the palyer the CS5.5 swf calls) and I still get the same result.

yes, you're using problematic embedding code: <param name="swfversion" value="12.0.0.0" />
open your fla with cs 5.5 or cs6, whichever you want to use. publish an html file using flash and test with that html file. if there's no reason to check for flash player version, don't tick "detect flash player version" in the publish settings. if there is a reason to check , tick it and specify the required player version (and pick a version that currently exists).

Upgrading from CS5.5 premium to CS6 standard - will I lose Dreamweaver?

I'm currently using CS5.5 Design Premium, which includes Dreamweaver, and am thinking of upgrading to CS6 Design Standard, which doesn't include Dreamweaver. What will happen to my copy of Dreamweaver when I upgrade to CS6 Design Standard?

Using CS5.5 Master Collection for MAC, I can't use "Replace with After Effects composition"

Using CS5.5 Master Collection for MAC, I can't use "Replace with After Effects composition" because I updated AE to CS6 (but only AE). Even that AE CS 5.5 is still installed, it won't connetct.
How can that be fixed?

Any Adobe Desktop applications don't overwrite the older version while installation. They install in seperate folders. You can Install and use CS5 and CS6 on the same computer, even simultaneously.
