Using directory alias with a wanboot installation

I have setup a Jumpstart server and have been using it for a while without issues. Now I want to incorporate wanboot into the process so that I do not need boot servers in each of our subnets. Since the jumpstart directory structure is already in place and I have apache running on the same server, I did not want to have to recreate the whole jumpstart directory structure. So I decided to create an alias in the apache configuration for the jumpstart directory:
root@swamphenxb:/usr/local/apache2/conf> cat httpd.conf
<snip>
# ScriptAlias: This controls which directories contain server scripts.
# ScriptAliases are essentially the same as Aliases, except that
# documents in the target directory are treated as applications and
# run by the server when requested rather than as documents sent to the
# client. The same rules about trailing "/" apply to ScriptAlias
# directives as to Alias.
Alias /jumpstart /export/jumpstart
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin/"
</IfModule>
<IfModule cgid_module>
# ScriptSock: On threaded servers, designate the path to the UNIX
# socket used to communicate with the CGI daemon of mod_cgid.
#Scriptsock logs/cgisock
</IfModule>
# "/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin" should be changed to whatever your ScriptAliased
# CGI directory exists, if you have that configured.
<Directory "/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride None
Options None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
*<Directory /export/jumpstart>*
AllowOverride None
Options All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
*</Directory>*
The wanboot.conf file is located in /etc/netboot and looks with the following information:
root@swamphenxb:/usr/local/apache2/conf> cat /etc/netboot/wanboot.conf

I have the client configured to boot from the web server and when I attempt to boot, I get the following message:
{2} ok boot net - install
Boot device: /pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@0 File and args: - install
/pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@0: 1000 Mbps full duplex link up
HTTP: Bad Response: 500 Internal Server Error (boot_file missing)
Boot load failed
I am able to see a listing of all the directories and files including the boot_file in my browser. The permissions for the /etc/netboot directory is:
root@swamphenxb:/etc/netboot> ls -al
total 26
drwx------ 3 daemon other 512 Nov 20 13:09 .
drwxr-xr-x 63 root sys 6144 Nov 2 11:43 ..
drwx------ 3 daemon other 512 Nov 20 13:10 170.12.144.0
-rw------- 1 daemon other 80 Nov 5 17:02 system.conf
-rw------- 1 daemon other 3331 Nov 2 14:07 wanboot.conf
It looks like maybe wanboot does not like the alias I am using, but I want to verify that before I move on to plan B. Thanks.

    Hi there i am currently trying to develope a java
    stored procedure and place it in oracle and will try
    to use that procedure to send a message to a server
    but then it doesnt seems to work. is it possible?And what do you do with exceptions in your java proc?
    I haven't ever done it myself, but I would be very surprised if it wasn't possible. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that you have to configure various things to allow it in Oracle itself.

  • Using URL alias with Weblogic - How do you do it?

    Bear with me I have zero experience with Weblogic.
    We use Weblogic as a component of Hyperion Planning, meaning for Hyperion Planning weblogic is installed and acts as the java application AND webserver.
    Currently our Hyperion Planning URL is http://servername:port as per security audit we need to use an alias so that users do not have straight access to the direct URL link.
    Therefore we created on the DNS a URL alias BFS.companyname.com. Now I need to associate this alias with the Planning URL which is in weblogic.
    I have logged into the weblogic admin console and see 'Virtual Hosts', I enter in the host name BFS.companyname.com and select the target which is the Hyperion Planning workspace (http://servername:port) apply changes yet nothing occurs.
    If anyone has done a URL direction could you please post the instructions on how to do so...thanks
    JTS

    Just to share this will all. The URL alias redirection is done within Apache webserver and not the Weblogic program.
    Edit the httpd.conf file with this information below:
    1. Configure Apache to listen on port 80:
    a. Back up the configuration file, e:\Hyperion\common\httpServers\Apache\2.0.52\conf\ht tpd.conf
    b. Add "Listen 80" to the Listen section.
    c. In the Virtual Hosts section, (around line 955), uncomment the line, "NameVirtualHost *:19000"
    d. Add "NameVirtualHost *:80"
    e. Uncomment the "<VirtualHost *:19000>" code block, down to "</VirtualHost>"
    f. Edit and add the following block to Virtual Hosts
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName www.myserver.com
    DocumentRoot e:/Hyperion/common/httpServers/Apache/2.0.52/htdocs
    </VirtualHost>
    g. Restart Apache.
    2. Redirect Web Page
    a. Create a page in the virtual web directory, index.html that contains the following html code:
    <html><head>
    <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0; url=http://myserver:19000/workspace/index.jsp">
    </head><body>
    </body></html>
    b. Have someone in NSE alter or create a DNS entry that redirects "hyperion" to the appropriate IP address. The default page (index.html) on the default port (80) will execute the redirect in the html document above, launching the workspace login screen.

  • I use a yahoo email as my Apple ID. How can I use an alias with no one knowing

    How do I know if my daughter is using an alias for her iCloud/Apple id.

    Any apple id has ability to create up to three aliases that nobody would know. Purpose of creating more then one alias is to give people different email addresses. Example would be if I had automotive business and computer business, so emails addressed to [email protected] and [email protected] would go to my mail box.
    Downside - they all go to the same mail account - which is your first account alias. So if you were to go to icloud.com website and sign in with your [email protected] or [email protected] - you will still see all of those icloud.com emails (not the yahoo ones).
    Close enough?

  • Using column alias with CASE

    It is possible to use a column alias with a CASE in a SELECT? e.g. I have this code
    SELECT
    CASE WHEN categ_1 = 'BASIC' THEN total_1 WHEN categ_2 = 'BASIC' THEN total_2 END
    FROM totalsBut the results column name comes out as CASEWHENCATEG_1='BASIC'THENTOTAL_1WHENCATEG_2='BASIC'THENTOTAL_2END
    I want to use an alias but can't get it to work with the CASE. I guessed at
    SELECT
    CASE WHEN categ_1 = 'BASIC' THEN total_1 WHEN categ_2 = 'BASIC' THEN total_2 END 'alias'
    FROM totalswhich doesn't work.

    Try without the single quotes after END

  • Yosemite Server: Apache shm errors with proxy_balancer | SASL errors using user alias

    Dear OSX Server Ninjas,
    I recently upgraded my 10.9.5 Mac mini running Server 3.2.2 to Yosemite + Server v4, directly to v4.0.3. The box serves the whole Mail/Cal/Contacts/VPN palette as well as some websites, Git repos and some custom software. See below for network setup.
    After battling the most blatant issues (some easy to fix but hard to find, others hard on both), I'm almost back to a working server setup … but some things keep bugging me even after days of log-reading and OD tricks. In the last days, I have read countless discussions here as well as on stackoverflow/serverfault/apple.stackexchange and blogs, so I'll try to be as thorough and precise as possible to show what I have tried so far – sorry in advance for the long post
    … and since you might not read to the bottom: Thanks in advance for any help, especially with the Apache problem!
    My setup
    OSX Server v4.0.3 running on Yosemite 10.10.1 ➞ both latest official releases
    host + DNS
    Hostname configured for public domain mydomain.net, web traffic on selected ports comes in through router NAT
    Server has a static IP on the local subnet 192.168.178.0/24
    Server running local DNS and performing lookups for all clients in the local subnet, forwarding to the router at 192.168.178.1
    Primary zone for mydomain.net with records (A, NS, MX) pointing to said static IP
    changeip -checkhostname is successful
    Public IP is currently configured at the domain registrar through his name servers
    SSL
    Trusted third-party certificate installed for host.mydomain.net (Common Name + SAN for two subdomains)
    Used to secure all services
    Qualys SSL Test Grade B (capped due to OSX's openssl 0.9.x not being capable of TLS1.2 and Intermediate CA SHA-1 )
    TLS working both inbound and outbound according to CheckTLS.com
    OpenDirectory
    Recreated after upgrade (probably not necessary, since issue persists), re-imported groups + users from WGM backup files
    Only the server itself is bound to the directory, other devices just access services through network accounts (CRAM-MD5, MD5-Digest)
    Problems
    Apache shm errors: Apache fails to create slot memory when proxy module is enabled
    As soon as I start a service which requires the Apache proxy_balancer module (e.g. Cal/Contacts, ProfileManager), this starts filling up my Apache's error log:
    [Mon Jan 12 01:41:17.979882 2015] [proxy_balancer:emerg] [pid 2949] (28)No space left on device: AH01179: balancer slotmem_create failed for p26d9e669--1011640492

    [Mon Jan 12 01:41:28.297355 2015] [:emerg] [pid 3026] AH00020: Configuration Failed, exiting
    When I increase the Apache LogLevel to trace1, I get this as well:
    [Mon Jan 12 02:11:43.190303 2015] [slotmem_shm:debug] [pid 5501] mod_slotmem_shm.c(367): AH02602: create didn't find /private/var/run/slotmem-shm-p26d9e669-813569972.shm in global list
    This causes the Apache to crash constantly, which is … unnerving. After googling around for a while, I tried the following steps:
    Stop Services that use the Apache (Web, *DAV, ProfileManager)
    sudo apachectl stop
    Remove all orphan cache/slot files (.shm, ssl-cache, proxy.*) from /private/var/run
    Reboot the server
    Start up the Services again
    Curiously enough, this worked for a while! But I was getting several log messages about dropped proxy connections, and sometimes the ProfileManager page would time out. Then, the issue started to reappear and does not seem to be fixed again with the steps above. I looked through the Apache config files and config plists for the Services in question, as well as the default config files. The only thing I have so far is that as long as there are no active proxy connections, the Apache runs smoothly – but all goes awry when slotmem files are created (a lot of them). Sometimes, I am able to turn on the Calendar service, but switching on Contacts produces the error … one time, I even got Calendar + Contacts running, and all went well until I enabled Profile Manager.
    I found several error reports with similar or identical errors from other Apache 2.4.x users, but most of those were developer talk on mailing lists, or suggested steps that did not work for me (or were inapplicable on the OS X Server Apache environment).
    SASL errors using user alias for WebDAV-Digest authentication
    Short version: I am unable to authenticate through WebDAV-Digest with a user's alias (defined in Server Admin > Users > Context Menu > Advanced Options or WGM). Using the main short name of the same user works flawlessly. Password Server Error log just shows:
    AUTH2: {234023578237md5hash2384234, mainshortname} WEBDAV-DIGEST authentication failed, SASL error -13 (password incorrect).
    The password is 100% correct: When I set up a test CalDAV account and put in alias+PW, it did not work (OS X Dialog showed “could not be verified”, Server log as above). Leaving the password field filled and just switching the user to the main short name went through instantaneously, with the Server log showing
    AUTH2: {234023578237md5hash2384234, mainshortname} WEBDAV-DIGEST authentication succeeded.
    Notice the same MD5 hash and canonical short name, yet different results. I don't know if this is a new “feature”, a result of mail aliases being handled differently (at least I read that somewhere) …
    Additional Questions
    Should I configure the DNS for public use, instead of the Split-Brain configuration (local network gets local IP, outside traffic is directed by registrar NS)? I read several articles explaining that Split-Brain is common in large organizations, but might introduce weird networking issues. Entering the external IP as a Round Robin alternative for the internal does not seem sensible to me.
    I also have a question concerning LDAP log entries like this one below, but I'll put that in this already open discussion:
    => bdb_idl_delete_key: c_get failed: DB_LOCK_DEADLOCK: Locker killed to resolve a deadlock (-30994)

    Today the same error occurred on a customers server.
    We don't use Calendar or Contacts.
    We only have some websites configured and want use NetInstall for deployments.
    As soon as I disable the Profilemanager the httpd starts over and other websites and NetInstall via HTTP are working fine.
    When I reenable Profilemanager the httpd processes are gone and I see the same stuff in Apache's error log...

    Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
    Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
    If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • What is best practice for using a SAN with ASM in an 11gR2 RAC installation

    I'm setting up a RAC environment. Planning on using Oracle 11g release 2 for RAC & ASM, although the db will initially be 10g r2. OS: RedHat. I have a SAN available to me and want to know the best way to utilise that via ASM.
    I've chosen ASM as it allows me to store everything, including the voting and cluster registry files.
    So I think I'll need three disk groups: Data (+spfile, control#1, redo#1, cluster files#1), Flashback (+control#2, redo#2, archived redo, backups, cluster files#2) and Cluster - Cluster files#3. So that last one in tiny.
    The SAN and ASM are both capable of doing lots of the same work, and it's a waste to get them both to stripe & mirror.
    If I let the SAN do the redundancy work, then I can minimize the data transfer to the SAN. The administrative load of managing the discs is up to the Sys Admin, rather than the DBA, so that's attractive as well.
    If I let ASM do the work, it can be intelligent about the data redundacy it uses.
    It looks like I should have LUN (Logical Unit Numbers) with RAID 0+1. And then mark the disk groups as extrenal redundancy.
    Does this seem the best option ?
    Can I avoid this third disk group just for the voting and cluster registry files ?
    Am I OK to have this lower version of Oracle 10gr2 DB on a RAC 11gr2 and ASM 11gr2 ?
    TIA, Duncan

    Hi Duncan,
    if your storage uses SAN RAID 0+1 and you use "External" redundancy, then ASM will not mirror (only stripe).
    Hence theoretically 1 LUN per diskgroup would be enough. (External redundancy will also only create 1 voting disk, hence only one LUN is needed).
    However there are 2 things to note:
    -> Tests have shown that for the OS it is better to have multiple LUNs, since the I/O can be better handled. Therefore it is recommended to have 4 disks in a diskgroup.
    -> LUNs in a diskgroup should be the same size and should have same I/O characteristica. If you now have in mind, that maybe your database one time will need more space (more disks) than you should use a disk size, which can easily be added, without waisting too much space.
    E.g:
    If you have a 900GB database then does it make sense to only use 1 lun with 1TB?
    What happens if the database grows, but only grows slightly above 1TB? Then you should add another disk with 1TB.... You loose a lot of space.
    Hence it does make more sence to use 4 disks á 250GB, since the "disks" needed to grow the disk groups can be extended more easily. (just add another 250G disk).
    O.k. there is also the possibility to resize a disk in ASM, but it is a lot easier to simple add an additional lun.
    PS: If you use a "NORMAL" redundancy diskgroup, then you need at least 3 disks in your diskgroup (in 3 failgroups) to be able to handle the 3 voting disks.
    Hope that helps a little.
    Sebastian

  • Load Balancing Directory Servers with Access Manager - Simple questions

    Hi.
    We are in the process of configuring 2 Access Manager instances (servers) accessing the same logical LDAP repository (comprising physically of two Directory Servers working together with Multi-Master Replication configured and tested) For doing this, we are following guide number 819-6258.
    The guide uses BigIP load balancer for load balancing the directory servers. However, we intend to use Directory Proxy Server. Since we faced some (unresolved) issues last time that we used DPS, there are some simple questions that I would be very grateful to have answers to:
    1. The guide, in section 3.2.10 (To configure Access Manager 1 with the Directory Server load balancer), talks about making changes at 4 places, and replacing the existing entry (hostname and port) with the load balancer's hostname and port (assuming that the load balancer has already been configured). It says that changes need not be made on Access Manager 2 since the LDAPs are in replication, and hence changes will be replicated at all places. However, the guide also states that changes have to be made in two files, namely AMConfig.properties, and the serverconfig.xml file. But these changes will not be reflected on Access Manager 2, since these files are local on each machine.
    Question 1. Do changes have to be made in AMConfig.properties and serverconfig.xml files on the other machine hosting Access Manager 2?
    Question 2: What is the purpose of putting these values here? Specifically, what is achieved by specifying the Directory server host and port in AMConfig.properties, as well as in serverconfig.xml?
    Question 3. In the HTTP console, there is the option of specifying multiple primary LDAP servers, as well as multiple secondary LDAP servers. What is the purpose of these? Are secondary servers attempted when none of the list in the primary list are accessible? Also, if there are multiple entries in the primary server list, are they accessed in a round robin fashion (hereby providing rudimentary load balancing), or are other servers accessed only when the one mentioned first is not reachable etc.?
    2. Since I do not have a load balancer setup yet, I tried the following deviation to the above, which, according to me, should have worked. If viewed in the HTTP console, LDAP / Membership / MSISDN and Policy configuration all pointed to the DS on host 1. When I changed all these to point to the directory server on host 2 (and made AMConfig.properties and serverconfig.xml on host 1 point to DS of host 2 as well), things should have worked fine, but apparently Access manager 1 could not be started. Error from Webserver:

    In effect, AM on 1 did not start. On rolling back the changes, things again worked like previously.
    Will be really grateful for any help / insight / experience on dealing with the above.
    Thanks!

    Update to the above, incase anyone is reading:
    We setup a similar setup in Windows, and it worked. Here is a detailed account of what was done:
    1. Host 1: Start installer, install automatically, chose Directory server, Directory Administration server, Directory Proxy server, Web server, Access Manager.
    All installed, and worked fine. (AMConfig.properties, serverconfig.xml, and the info in LDAP service, all pointed to HOST1:389)
    2. Host 2: Start installer, install automatically, chose Directory server, Directory Administration server, Directory Proxy server, Web server, Access Manager.
    All installed, and worked fine. (AMConfig.properties, serverconfig.xml, and the info in LDAP service, all pointed to HOST2:389)
    3. Host 1: Started replication. Set to Master
    4. Host 2: Started replication. Set to Master
    5. Host 1: Setup replication agreement to Host 2
    6. Host 2: Setup replication agreement to Host 1
    7. Initiated the remote replica from Host 1 ----> Host 2
    Note that since default installation uses abc.....xyz as the encryption key, setting this to same was not an issue.
    9. Started webserver for Host 1 and logged into AM as amadmin.
    10. Added Host 2 FQDN in DNS Aliases / Realms
    11. Added http://HOST2_FQDN:80 in the Platform server (instance) list.
    12. Started Host 2 webserver. Logged in AM on Host 2, things worked fine.
    At this stage, note the following:
    a) Host 1:
    AMConfig.properties file has
    com.iplanet.am.directory.host=host1_FQDN
    and
    com.iplanet.am.directory.port=389
    serverconfig.xml has:
    <Server name="Server1" host="host1_FQDN" port="389" type="SIMPLE" />
    b) Host 2:
    AMConfig.properties file has
    com.iplanet.am.directory.host=host2_FQDN
    and
    com.iplanet.am.directory.port=389
    serverconfig.xml has:
    <Server name="Server1" host="host2_FQDN" port="389" type="SIMPLE" />
    c) If one logs into AM, and checks LDAP servers for LDAP / Policy Configuration / Membership etc services, they all contain Host2_FQDN:389 (which makes sense, since replica 2 was initialized from 1)
    Returning back to the configuations:
    13. On Host 1, login into the Admin server console of the Directory server. Navigate to the DPS, and confgure the following:
    a) Network Group
    b) LDAP servers
    c) Load Balancing
    d) Change Group
    e) Action on-bind
    f) Allow all actions (permit modification / deletion etc.).
    g) any other configuations required - Am willing to give detailed steps if someone needs them to help me / themselves! :)
    So now, we have DPS configured and running on Host1:489, and distributing load to DS1 and DS2 on a 50:50 basis.
    14. Now, log into AM on Host 1, and instead of Host1_fqdn:389 (for DS) in the following places, specify Host1_fqdn:489 (for the DPS)--
    LDAP Authentication
    MSISDN server
    Membership Service
    Policy configuation.
    Verified that this propagated to the Policy Configuration service and the LDAP authentication service that are already registered with the default organization.
    15. Log out of AM. Following the documentation, modify directory.host and directory.port in AMConfig.properties to point to Host 1_FQDN and 489 respectively. Make this change in AMConfig.properties of both Host 1 as well as 2.
    16. Edit serverconfig.xml on both hosts, and instead of they pointing to their local directory servers, point both to host1_FQDN:489
    17. When you start the webserver, it will refuse to start. Will spew errors such as:

    Success!
    The server https-host1_FQDN has started up.
    The server infact, didn't start up (nothing even listening on 58080).
    However, if AMConfig.properties is left as it originally was, and only serverconfig.xml files were changed as mentioned above, web servers started fine, and things worked all okay. (Alright, except for some glitches when viewed in /amconsole. If /amserver/console is accessed, all is good. Can this mean that all is still not well? I am not sure).
    So far so good. Now comes the sad part. When the same is done on Solaris 9, things dont work. You continue to get the above error, OR the following error, and the web server will refuse to start:
    Differences in Solaris and Windows are as follows:
    1. Windows hosts have 1 IP and hostname. Solaris hosts have 3 IPs and hostnames (for DS, DPS, and webserver).
    No other difference from an architectural perspective.
    Any help / insight on why the above is not working (and why the hell does the documentation seem so sketchy / insecure / incorrect).
    Thanks a bunch!

    Good point, I do belive what you are referring to is this:
    Any client, whether running inside a server or not, has EJB security properties. Table 15-2 lists the EJB client security properties controlled by the ejb_sec.properties file. By default, OC4J searches for this file in the current directory when running as a client, or in ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config when running in the server. You can specify the location of this file explicitly with the system property setting -Dejb_sec_properties_location=pathname.
    Table 15-2 EJB Client Security Properties
    Property Meaning
    # oc4j.iiop.keyStoreLoc
    The path and name of the keystore. An absolute path is recommended.
    # oc4j.iiop.keyStorePass
    The password for the keystore.
    # oc4j.iiop.trustStoreLoc
    The path name and name of the truststore. An absolute path is recommended.
    # oc4j.iiop.trustStorePass
    The password for the truststore.
    # oc4j.iiop.enable.clientauth
    Whether the client supports client-side authentication. If this property is set to true, you must specify a keystore location and password.
    # oc4j.iiop.ciphersuites
    Which cipher suites are to be enabled. The valid cipher suites are:
    TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
    SSL_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5
    SSL_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5
    TLS_DHE_DSS_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA
    SSL_DHE_DSS_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA
    nameservice.useSSL
    Whether to use SSL when making the initial connection to the server.
    client.sendpassword
    Whether to send user name and password in clear form (unencrypted) in the service context when not using SSL. If this property is set to true, the user name and password are sent only to servers listed in the trustedServer list.
    oc4j.iiop.trustedServers
    A list of servers that can be trusted to receive passwords sent in clear form. This has no effect if client.sendpassword is set to false. The list is comma-delimited. Each entry in the list can be an IP address, a host name, a host name pattern (for example, *.example.com), or * (where "*" alone means that all servers are trusted.

  • New SAP NW AS ABAP 7.01 SP03 Unicode with standard sapinst installer (beta)

    Hello community,
    a new SAP NW AS ABAP 7.01 SP03 version with the Standard SAPINST installer (note: the "trial version" is beta!) and optimzed single user memory consumption (~2GB pagefile) is available for testing purposes.
    NOTE: The installation step "LOAD DATABASE" may take up to 8h depending on your harddisk (1h on a fast disk). Next release will install faster.

    Best Regards, Oliver

    I have installed the Microsoft loopback adaptor, and I still got asked for a DNS entry.  However I've unchecked it and continued...
    After now several attempts at installing and uninstalling and trying again, I got this on the last attempt - this was after starting a new installation and choosing the 'copy to a new folder' option rather than continuing with the former installation...  (It said 'Please inform the installation development' at the end)
