Using elements photo-downloader

I have just bought PSE 9 to g with Premiere elements 9, I had been only downloading video clips to my computer via elements photo-downloader, but now I'm putting on photos as well, the photos are now loading into the main file (I specified) on C that my video clip were going to - I guess it looks a bit of a mess, but is that normal, or is it possible to specify that photos download into a different file than the videos? If it is possible, how do I do this?
Thanks.

Open the Organizer and press Ctrl+G to bring up the downloader dialog.
Click the Browse button and choose My Pictures or a folder of your choice (My Pictures is the best option as Adobe uses as the Watch folder by default).
Then connect your camera or card reader.
If you already have photos in folders Click File >>Get Photos >>From Files & Folders
Browse to a folder and press Ctrl+A to select all images and click Get Media or Open.

  • Problem using Bridge Photo Downloader with new camera

I have the new Olympus E5. I can't use the Photo Downloader in Bridge for RAW files. It doesn't convert the ORF ( RAW ) files to dng.

No, in the last several versions of PSE for mac prior to PSE 9, Adobe Bridge was included for keywording and such. The version of bridge that ships with the big Creative Suite programs includes the full Adobe Raw Converter, the one you get with full Photoshop. Elements has always had a somewhat cut down version of the Adobe raw converter--same basic plug-in, but doesn't have all the features enabled.
In PSE 8, for some reason the full features were not disabled in the version of bridge that ships with PSE (prior to that opening a file into the bridge converter showed you exactly the same features you got if you just opened a raw file directly into the PSE Editor's version of the converter). However, that was just a one-time thing. (I'm guessing they ran out of time or something).
But all versions of Elements include their own raw converter, with the smaller feature set, whether or not you use Bridge or Organizer. If you don't use bridge or organizer, you can open a raw file into the Elements editor by using File>Open, and that will bring up the PSE converter window.
In PSE 9, Adobe has stopped shipping any version of bridge, and now includes a version of the Organizer that windows PSE users have been getting. But you can still use bridge if you have it from PSE 8, only you can't update it anymore. You can still update the raw converter in PSE itself.

  • Using elements photos for other programmes

how can i get my photos from adobe elements for use in other programmes/projects, I want to use them in a Boots photo albumn but cant seem to locate the photos on my computer from elements 11

If you are not sure which folder your images are located in, you can select a thumbnail in Organizer and the select the Information tab in PSE11 or right click and choose Show Properties in earlier versions.
The file path to your image will be shown and you can click to go directly to the folder location.
You could then upload directly from the folder using your originals, without affecting Elements provided you don‘t physically move anything.

  • Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader Results without using Photo Downloader

I always used the Photo Downloader to download files, rename them and organize them into folders named by date.
I recently upgraded to a Network Attached Storage device that has a USB Port directly on the front of it and allows me to dump all my camera files straight onto the external hard drive. However, it does not rename them - so it uses the raw file names that the camera assigns them and doesn't organize them in any way.
This is really handy for me as I don't have to copy 16gb of photos across a wireless network when I want to clear out a memory card. However, I haven't found a way to organize the files after the fact.
Is there any way to have Adobe Bridge (or any other Mac software!) go through those files and move/rename them the same way that Photo Downloader always did directly from the camera? How?
    Thanks!

If you are sure your files have the metadata, in other words you can place your memory card into a reader and the information is there,
next step, is a total Bridge Preferences reset
Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

  • Camera RAW not appearing in Photo Downloader

    Hello,
Since moving to a new PC (from Windows XP to Windows Vista 32-bit), the Elements Photo Downloader never shows the RAW files just .jpg files.
I'll try and describe my setup in detail:
    Windows Vista 32-bit
Photoshop Elements 5.0 (applied the 5.0.2 update)
Camera RAW plug-in 4.4.1 (tried with 4.3.1 also, no luck)
    Camera is Canon 400D, Firmware v 1.0.4
The only difference between when I had it working under XP is a firmware update to my camera. Could this have caused the problem? If so, which version of Camera RAW should I use?
    Many Thanks.

Don't try to download directly from the camera...use a card reader. Your firmware update prolly broke XP's ability to see the camera as a disk instead of a device.

  • Adobe Bridge CC -- ongoing problems with Photo Downloader (scrolling, crashing, etc)

    Hello Community,
Thanks in advance for any suggestions to improve my Bridge CC experience! I have recurring problems, esp. when using the Photo Downloader (in other words, daily problems) -- scrolling either up or down to select photos is a nightmare, as the scrolling either jumps or stops without rhyme or reason, making the photo selection process tedious and maddening. Additionally, if I spend more than a few minutes selecting which photos to load to my computer (i.e., from iPhone), Bridge crashes.
I have been using Bridge for about a decade, and never EVER had a single problem with it until CC. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro, all software updated, etc. No fancy bells or whistles, no peripherals, etc... Just trying to get my pictures from phone and tablet to the computer.
    Many thanks.

    Moving discussion to Bridge forum.

  • Convert to dng is greyed out in CS3 Bridge Photo Downloader

I have no idea what has happened, but when I use the Photo Downloader in Bridge (CS3) to copy using my card reader, the option to convert to dng is greyed out and is not available for me to select.  I can convert to dng using the stand alone dng converter and also from within Camera Raw with no problem, but I like the convenience of doing the conversion using the Photo Downloader.  This option was available to me and worked perfectly up until a couple of weeks ago.  Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance.

  • CS6 Photo Downloader not functioning correctly.

CS6 Photo Downloader locks up when I attempt to download photos.  Buttons like browse, settings, get media do function.  This worked fine with CS5 Bridge on this machine.  The machine is a windows 7 box.
I had CS5 Master Suite side X side installed with CS 6 Master Suite. When I noticed problems with the CS 6 Photo Downloader not working correctly I uninstalled CS5 Master Suite.  This did not resolve the issue and I am stuck with lots of photos that are unable to be downloaded using CS6 Photo Downloader.
    Any ideas?

  • File rename in Photo downloader

I wish to use the Photo Downloader in Bridge (CS3) to rename photos as I import them. However I want the format Name_yymmdd_1234. However I cannot find in the dropdown menu a format that will do this. Odd as I thought it a commonly used format. The closest I can find in the drop-down menu is Custom name+shotdate(yyyymmdd) What I am after is Custom name+shotdate(yymmdd) eg sue_080602_0044 so the year is only 2 digits. I can find this OK in Batch rename but I wish to use Photo Downloader to rename as files are imported. Am I not seeing something or is it not possible. Thanks
    Sue

    Sue
You are right, that combination, among many others, is not present.
personally I prefer the yyyy instead of yy but everyone seems to have its own way. That's why they provide so many options in the Bridge Batch Rename :-)
You can either choose to import the files using Photodownloader without renaming and do this after downloading in Bridge, or use a renaming application like A Better Finder Rename (google it for a link) a cheap and easy to use application that let's you have many ways to rename but also add or delete characters at a specific position. You can rename a whole folder at once or select a bunch, it is fast and easy.

  • Disable Photo downloader in photoshop album starter 3.0

When I connect my camera via USB, the photo downloader starts & ties up the camera software. Other forum topics instruct to choose edit / preferences / camera or card reader & deselect "use Adobe photo downloader to get photos from camera or reader", but that is not a choice in photoshop album starter 3.0. Any ideas?

    > Is there any way to get rid of the photo downloader icon in the try for PSA 3.0?
You can right click on it and select the option, but it will come back next time you reboot or start PSA SE. To get rid of it permanently: In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps and reaname the file apdproxy.exe to something else [like "apdproxy-save.exe"].

  • Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 - Photo Downloader causes computer to restart

I upgraded my computer running Windows XP from Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition 2.0 to 3.0. This put an icon, the Photo Downloader, on my task bar. When I turned my lap-top on it would load the desk top with no problems, but when loading the icons on the task bar it would get to the camera icon, there would be a long pause and my computer would shut down and restart. This happened intermittantly at first, than all the time. I uninstalled PhotoShop 2.0 and all its upgrades and 3.0. The problem resolved. I reinstalled PhotoShop 3.0 and the problem seems to have come back. Today as the camera icon loaded my computer shut down and restarted. The error reported is: Stop error caused by a device driver. I don't use the Photo Downloader. Can I remove it from my start up?

Is that where Colin Walls says to to to C:\Program Files\Adobe Starter Edition\3.0\Apps and rename the file "apdproxy.exe" to "apdproxy-same.exe"? This was suggested to make the icon go away in the taskbar. I have clicked on Disable for the icon, and "fingers crosssed" my computer hasn't restarted recently. You're right, my error message was that there was a driver problem, but I reloaded Photoshop twice and it didn't help. As soon as that icon loads (before I diabled it) the computer restarts. Do you know if "Disable-ing" the icon causes is to not start-up when I boot the computer? And that it is not running in the background? Thanks. Dayle Marsh

  • Photo Downloader from CD/DVD-ROM?

A few years ago I backed up my old RAW files onto CD's and DVD's. Now, I'd like to convert them to DNG and copy them to my server's hard drives. I was hoping to be able to use the Photo Downloader to accomplish this, by using the same workflow I use when getting the images off of compact flash. I was surprised to see that I was unable to select my CD-ROM as the source. Is there a way around this? Am I missing something? Any suggestions for another way to do this?

It's not a matter of unpacking. I need to convert them to DNG, rename, and place them in the right folders. I currently use Photo Downloader to do this, but it only seems to see 'removable disks'. My photos are on CD's and DVD's.

  • Bridge Photo Downloader Crashes Elements 8 iphone 4S

Photoshop Elements 8 (version 8.0). This is first time I tried to use photo downloader from Adobe Bridge (CS4 3.0.0.464) with my iphone 4s. It crashes every time. Have been to preferences and deleted adobe.downloader.plist. Still crashes. Thanks for your help!

I’m assuming Bridge is not recognizing the phone as a camera.
Go to Applications and try using Image Capture to get the photos on to your computer.
Or you can get a cheap photo transfer app for the phone:
