Using f4v Files in Acrobat 9

Is it possible to play f4V files in Acrobat?  Using the flash tool I have included an F4V file but the video will not play.  Are there complatibility issues? Any ideas?
Thank You,
Melanie

  • How to use F4V Files with Premiere 5.5

    Hey all,
I work at a small company that does live streaming of video. We are experimenting with new HD cameras and have found that our best results for streaming has been to use h.264. We are having fantastic results with this, however, Using Flash Meda Live Encoder the end result is an .f4v file. I don't have much experience with this variation of .flv, but I'm honestly finding it quite useless.
I understand that you don't typically edit this type of file, that it is in a sense working backwards. However, our situation is that our streaming quality is highest when we use this format. Obviously, I am unable to get this file into premiere to edit it. I'm actualy unable to play it virtually anywhere as well (moyea converter, moyea flv player, vlc...nothing plays it).
Does anyone have any suggestions as far as where to go from here? I know there is probably a lot more info required for anyone to give me some feedback, so let me know what you need to know about our equipment/settings and I'll supply it.
    Thanks for the help!

@Jim Unfortuntaley, it's not practical for us to encode two files, one streaming and one capturing in a different format.
I do appreciate the help though.
@John That program looks cool, however that doesn't help either because we stream LIVE video. So I need to be encoding through FMLE or WME if I'm doing a windows file.
I actually had some progress using the adobe f4v post processor. I was able to convert the file into another f4v file that was able to import into Premiere. However, once I import it, I get no audio on my file. When I play the file, there is audio, but again when I import it into Premiere, no audio at all.
This seems to be a common problem and a potential bug. But if anyone has any further input, im VERY close to having success if I can only get my audio in there. (I do know I could get the audio into premiere by itself, but I'm trying to create a workflow that I can bring to my boss. He won't be a big fan of having many steps to get everything into Adobe)

  • I can't use thunderbird 31.2.0 to send attachement from a pdf file with Acrobat PRO XI

I can't use thunderbird 31.2.0 (Mozilla) to send attachement from a pdf file with Acrobat PRO XI. Each time, Acrobat replies (in french) : "il n'y a pas de client pour la messagerie par défaut". Thunderbird is indicated as "by default" in the list of programs of Windows.
Even if I type my e-mail address, etc. in the account of Acrobat, it doesn't change. Each time, I have to record a PDF file in a folder and return to Thunderbird to send it as attached. It is a too long process,  compared with Windows XP with Acrobat Reader or Acrobat 5, I had before.
Would you please help me to explain the process. My OS is Windows 8.1.
    Thank you

    Thank you for your answer.
What i want to do : to send PDF files as attached documents in a message
generated by thunderbird by my e-mail address [email protected] or
    another one I have.
When I introduce my e-mail address under Edit-Preferences-Email
Accounts, Acrobat ask the e-mail account, the password, the IMAP for
ingoing message (and I use POP) and SMTP for outgoing messages. Even I
introduce all the datas, it doesn't change, Acrobat is unable to send
the message. And the process is not convenient, because I need all my
outgoing messages be documented inside Thunderbird.
So, I repeat my request : how can I use thenderbird as program by
default from Acrobat or any other software ?
Thank you for your next message.

  • Is there the way to use "Highlight File Format" with Acrobat Reader 9.0 or later?

    hi
Do anyone know the way to use "Highlight File Format" with Acrobat Reader 9.0 later or substitutional way to highlight a PDF file as well as highlight file?
    I want to highlight some words by indicating character's location(from n to m) using Acrobat Reader 6, 7, 8, and 9.
I use highlight xml file to highlight words in Acrobat 6, 7, and 8.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdfs/HighlightFileFormat.pdf
According to this documents, "External Window Handler Plugin" is required to use highlight file.
But I cannot find this plugin in Acrobat Reader 9.
So Acrobat Reader doesn't recognize highlight file.
Well, I know that there is another way to highlight pdf file. It is called "PDF Open Parameters".
However this parameters cannot indicate location of characters but words which is to be searched.
This parameter does not work perfectly to substitute a highlight xml file.
To satisfy what i want to do, the best solution is that Acrobat Reader 9.0 recognizes highlight xml file.
But I think it is impossible because of lack of plugin.
Do anyone know the way to recognize a highlight xml file to 9.0 or another way to highlight some words?
    thanks,
    Asatamax

The feature is disabled by default in reader 9
    (1) Open Adobe Reader
    (2) Click Edit > Preferences > Search, and
    (3) check the box labelled Enable search highlights from external highlight server.
    (response found here: http://support.dtsearch.com/dts0117.htm)
I can't imagine why Adobe choose to disable it. It's a bad joke for us at UNESCO (http://unesdoc.unesco.org)

  • Using Action Wizard on encrypted files in Acrobat X

I am trying to use the Action Wizard to execute batch commands on encrypted files in Acrobat X but it keeps saying it can't open the document. In Preferences, I have the Security Method set to Password Security under Action Wizard, but it never prompts me for a password. Is there something else I need to set?

I found the problem. I needed to change "Starts with:" from "A File Open in Acrobat" (the default in Create New Action) to "Ask When Action is Started".

  • Can using "Reduce File Size" in Acrobat Standard 9 effect DPI

I'm sure the answer is no to this question, but before I wholeheartedly recommend this fantastic tool for use throughout our firm, I need to know if there is the possibility of a PDF's functional DPI being reduced in a scanned PDF by using Reduce File Size.  What I mean, I guess, by functional DPI, is the DPI in the PDF after running the tool.  Courts require 300 dpi on scanned PDFs, which is our standard, but once in a PDF it's impossible to determine (as far as I can tell) DPI in a file.  I notice no reduction in quality when using this tool, but want to make sure that we aren't circumventing court guidelines when using it to help reduce the size of files scanned at 300 dpi.

    Hi Anoop,
I can share the graphic file, but not the pdf which contains it (as it contains confidential information) - thanks!

  • I cannot open this PDF file in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a PDF file that I could open on my Windows XP 32-bit laptop in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader.  I then upgraded to a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  But now in Win7-64, I cannot open this same file using the same apps (Acrobat 8 Pro & Acrobat Reader XI).
When I try to open it in Acrobat 8, it does not load and instead a popup windows appears saying -
    Adobe Updater
Some components needed to complete this operation are missing but information about them may be available on the Adobe website. Would you like to search the Adobe website for the missing components?
And I can choose either the OK or Quit buttons.  When I click OK, a web browser starts and goes to this website -
    http://www.adobe.com/special/adobe_update_manager/?type=Filter&name=FOPN_foweb&version=0.0 .0.0&lang=en_US&os=Windows&osver=6.1.7601&appid=acrobat8pro-en_US&cpu=intel
    This webpage says -
    Adobe Update Manager
Adobe cannot locate the requested plugin. New plugins will be listed on this page. Currently there are no plugins.
So now I am stuck, no direction to go.  I am left without any solution from Adobe for Acrobat on this file.
When I try to open this PDF file in Reader, it does not load and instead a web browser is spawned loading the webpage -
    http://plugin.fileopen.com/Default.aspx?bhcp=1
This is the FileOpen Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat/Reader, which prompts to -
Please click OK to download the FileOpen Plug-in Installer for Adobe Acrobat/Reader
I click on OK, download and run the Installer file, accept the terms, and installed the FileOpen Client (x64) B928.  Upon completion, it prompts to Finish.  But it does not automatically bring Reader up or try to load the file.  So I try again to load the PDF file into Reader.  But once again, the file does not load and the web browser is spawned loading the same FileOpen Plug-in Installer link.  I click OK again, and start the same FileOpen Client process.  This time, it recognizes that I have FileOpen Client installed, and the window gives me two choices, Repair or Remove.  So since I apparently need this Plug-in, I choose Repair.  The process seems to complete the Repair.  But when I try to load the file, it still brings me back to the FileOpen Plug-in webpage.  So now I am stuck again, and left without any solution from Adobe for Reader on this file.
I tried Adobe support.  But apparently Adobe does not support past releases of their products (Acrobat 8), and also does not give free support for the current version of their free products (Reader XI).
    Can this be fixed?

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible?  I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit.  It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues.  And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible?  I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues.  And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other.  So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together.  If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in.  So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed.  I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

  • HOW DO I FIND FILE IN ACROBAT XI

I have downloaded Adobe AIR Application installer and download Adobe Download Assistant; both are on the dock.  I cannot find how to open file in Aarobat XI to convert df to word. How do I find it?

These are not Acrobat. You need to download and install Acrobat in order to use it.
    Flr wrote:
how to open file in Acrobat XI
I am not sure I understand your question but I think you are looking for this.
    1. Right click on the PDF file.
    2. Click on "Open With". You will see Adobe Acrobat in the list.
    3. Click on it.
    Alternatively,
1a. On Windows, open the Start Menu (bottom left of the screen).
1b. On Mac, open the Spotlight (top right of the screen).
    2. Type Acrobat. You will see Adobe Acrobat in the list.
    3. Click on it. Acrobat will open.
    4. Goto File -> Open. Locate the file and click Open.
If Acrobat is not displayed anywhere, it means that the software is not installed on your machine.
    To verify:
1a. On Windows, open Control Panel, then open Programs and Features.
1b. On Mac, open a Finder Window, then click Applications on the left.
    2. Look for Adobe Acrobat in the list.
If Acrobat is not present, download and install from the website http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html or using Adobe Download Assistant.

  • Font Error Message While Editing a PDF File with Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
I have Acrobat XI Pro running on Windows 8.1
I scanned a PDF File and then went to "Tools - Text Recognition - In This File - Edit - OutPutStyle ClearScan etc etc" and got the file into "Edit Mode".
When I replace a "number/digit", the replacement digit font is "very small" and there is a "Yellow Triangle" error message which says the following.
"The Original Font Fd 3168 is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font "Minion Pro" font in its place.
Anybody know how to overcome this error message/problem OR alternatively how do I change the FONT of the whole page to some other Font?
Also how do I find a "similar or equivalent font" for Fd 3168 font that Adobe Acrobat says, is not available.
    TIA

    Hi Bill.  Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately, I don't have the option of using the original DOCX file.  The author lost it, leaving only the pdf around
I'm using AA XI 11.0.06.  Upgraded this morning.  That's running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
I get the boundary boxes by clicking on the 'edit text and images' tool, and they appear.  Or don't in this case
I only need to change a few characters in the file.   However, even just opening up the file in AA and then saving, the "A = " "text" gets deleted.
Could it perhaps be something to do with embedded or missing maths fonts on my machine?  I mean, I don't get any warnings, just can't do anything with the A and AB italic bold text.
    Thanks!

  • How to convert FLV and F4V files to other media formats

How to convert FLV and F4V files to other media formats
Nowadays, every one can download their favorite videos from video sharing websites like YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Google Video, metacafe, Yahoo! Video, Reuters.com and so on at will. However, these video files we got are usually in the format of FLV, or F4V, which are not workable by most portable devices, or some video players and video editors on our PC. With the intention of solving these problems, this guide will show you how to convert FLV and F4V files to other video and audio formats in detail.
    1. Download, install and run Pavtube FLV Converter
As soon as you run this program, the following wine red interface will show up:
    2. Add files, set output format and destination folder
Input FLV and F4V files to this program by clicking on “Add” button, and select a format as the output format in the drop-down list of “Format”, meanwhile, you can press the output folder to specify the destination folder or just use the path set by default. Moreover, “merge into one file” enables you to combine multiple FLV and F4V files to be as a single file, if you have this needs, just tick it.
    3. Set advanced settings
Click “Settings” button, the following interface will pop up. You can change the parameters like screen size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc. on it to optimize the output quality or compress file size.
    4. Convert
After all settings are done, you can press “Convert” button to start transferring, and then the following window will show you the conversion info in detail. According to the info you can manage your time and disk space properly.
Pavtube FLV Converter can definitely complete the conversion at a swift speed with excellent quality; also it adopts an advanced audio-video sync technology, so that audio and video match very well in the resulted files. Therefore you need not worry about these issues.

  • Word 2007 won't save files with Acrobat Pro 9.0 Installed

Last night an issue started occurring while trying to save a document in MS Word 2007 (part of an Office Ultimate install).  After about 10 hours of trying several suggestions from a variety of forums and MS suggestions I found that the only time I cannot save a file by traditional means is when Acrobat is installed.  I tried updating Acrobate and had the same thing happen.  MS says all that's left for me to do is get an answer from Adobe (I have to wonder if it's a copout).
    Steps taken so far:
Disabled the PDF add-in - still unable to save Word files
Removed PDF add-in - still unable to save Word files
Removed entire CS4 suite - Word was able to properly save files
Installed only the parts of the suite that I use frequently (Photoshop, Soundbooth, Premiere, Acrobat) - unable to save Word files
Removed Acrobat Pro 9.0 - Word saves files properly again
When I say it will not save a file I've tried the keyboard shortcuts for Save/Save As, Choosing the Save/Save As from drop down, and even attempted to save by closing the document.  When prompted with the option to save changes I say yes and nothing will happen, I have to close the document with nothing saved.
I hate the idea of reinstalling Acrobat each time I need to use it to keep Word functional.  I've seen a ton of threads on other forums related to this issue.  Has anybody else seen this or know about a fix/work around?  Any help is appreciated.  Please let me know if additional detail is necessary.
The operating system for the affected computer is Windows 7 32-bit.

I installed each update individually (6 of them) and rebooted after each update.  Opened Word and attempted to save a document (after each update/reboot), the documents still cannot be saved (previously created documents still cannot have new detail saved).
Decided to delete the Office folder in the following path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Office
Opened up word and Acrobat went through an installation processes, to replace what was removed I assume.  After this was done I attempted to save a document and was still unable to do so.  Went back and deleted that Office folder in the above path again.  When opening Word this time I cancelled the installation process that Adobe was trying to complete.  Preventing the install of the settings and PDF add-in allowed documents to be saved again in word.
I decided to try to remove the innactive add-in from my Word Options and received the following error message:
"The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed"
Due to my deleting that folder?
I suppose I could cancel that installation that initiates each time I open Word (or any other Office program that benefits from Acrobat Add-ins) but that will be a bit of an annoyance.
Anybody have another suggestion, know what may need to be deleted from the registry to prevent the Add-ins installation when opening Word, or know where that setting can be changed?
Hopefully getting close to a resolution

I am totally baffled as to where the Add Completed From to Responses File dialog box is. I cannot find such a thing.
It is my understanding that once the dialog box found there are options, including creating a new response file. But, I can't find the box (and neither can my associates).
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

In Acrobat 9 Help look under 'Collecting and managing form data' and the other topics under this heading. It is in the "Forms" chapter.
    Collecting and managing form data
When you distribute a form, Acrobat automatically creates a PDF Portfolio for collecting the data submitted by users. By default, this file is saved in the same folder as the original form and is named
filename_responses. You can use this file to compile returned forms.
    Collect user data
1 After a user submits a form, open the returned form.
2 In the Add Completed Form To Responses File dialog box, select one of the following:
Add To An Existing Responses File
Compiles the data in the response file that was created when you used the Distribute Form wizard to send out the form. (If necessary, click Browse and locate the response file.)
    Create A New Responses File
Creates a new response file, using the name and location you specify.
The response file opens after you click OK. Each returned form added to the response file appears as a component file of a PDF Portfolio.
    Compile form data
1 In Acrobat, choose Forms > Compile Returned Forms.
2 In the Compile Data dialog box, do one of the following to select a PDF response file:
Click Browse, and then locate and select the response file.
Type the path to the response file.
3 Click Add File, and navigate to the returned form.
4 Repeat the previous step as many times as necessary to add more returned forms.
After you click OK, the data from the selected forms is added to the response file. Each returned form appears as a component file of a PDF Portfolio.
Add user data to an existing response file
1 In Acrobat, open the response file.
2 In the left navigation panel, click Add.
3 In the Add Returned Forms dialog box, click Add File. Then locate and select the returned forms, and click Open.
4 Repeat the previous step to add any returned forms in other folders. When finished, click OK.
When you finish, each added PDF form appears as a component file of the PDF Portfolio.
Export user data from a response file
Use this process to save all the entries in a PDF Portfolio response file to a spreadsheet or XML file.
1 In Acrobat, open the response file and select the data to export
2 In the left navigation panel, click Export.
3 In the Select Folder To Save File dialog box, specify a name, location, and file format (CSV or XML) for the form data, and click Save.

  • Wrongly transformed the sentences of left and right paragraphs into one sentence in PDF files to txt files by Acrobat 9 Pro

I found that the when transforming PDF files into TXT files by Acrobat 9 Pro, the Acrobat will wrongly transform the sentences of the left hand side and right hand side paragraphs into one sentence, while the correct format should be the later sentence follows the former sentence in each paragraph.
An example PDF is : http://cardiovascres.oxfordjournals.org/content/cardiovascres/45/1/200.full.pdf
Is there any solution for this problem? Or should I use other software (or other version of Acrobat) to solve the problem? Thank you.

PDF is not a word processor file format.
It has no "styles", "format", "layout", "columns", "rows", "tables", etc.
PDF writers paint the content to the canvas that is the PDF page.
Depending on what was used and how it operates this painting can be like a paint by numbers affair.
ISO 32000-1:2008, the ISO standard for PDF explains it all.
So, when exporting to text from your PDF the progression is left to right, top down.
Remember, PDF has no awareness of "columns". What we see is our construct not PDF's.
What you and I see as two columns with a specific read order is our imposition.
What is on the PDF page is simply a line of text characters.
That is how it is with all versions of Acrobat. Applications can only make use of what the file format supports eh.
    What to do?
Master content in a logical hierarchy in the authoring file.
Always use the build-in Headings for Headings.
    Use the built-in "table" feature.
Use a PDF writer process that is compliant with the ISO standard and that supports proper output of Tagged PDF.
A well-formed Tagged PDF will export properly.
Two key design considerations for Tagged PDF are:
    (1)  Support Accessible PDF
    (2)  Support Export of PDF page content.
What constitutes a "well-formed tagged PDF?"
This would be a PDF that is ISO 14289-1, PDF/UA-1 compliant.
    Be well...
