Using interactive QuickTime movie on Windows is fixed!!

With the release of 7.2, the problem listed in this thread
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=154423&tstart=0
has been resolved! If you update your PC to QuickTime 7.2, interactive QuickTime movies exported from Keynote will work without opening Internet Explorer

Welcome to the discussions, Christopher.
Over in the Keynote discussions we've been going over this for quite awhile. Unfortunately, there's no easy solution to your problem. I've even gone as far as attempting to preload the chapter track thinking that might solve the problem, but it doesn't work.
One thing I don't think I've tried is setting up the first slide to advance "on-click" so that there's no animation before the first transition. The problem, of course, is that there's no "loading" animation to let it know when it's ready to go.
Another thing I haven't tried but that might work is to create the movie so that it doesn't autoplay, and then, using the embed commands, set autoplay to be the full length of the movie (so that it will automatically play, but only after it's completely downloaded). Look here for the autoplay embed commands.

  • How to use interactive quicktime movie on an ios device?

Hello in am exporting a lot of keynote presentation in quicktime format so they can be playedback on any computer running itunes and quicktime. But on ios there is no option to configure that format?
    All ideas are welcome.

    Hi Roger
SmoothSync is not free, but it's very cheap (£2:19)
    Reminder synchronization is included
And there is a separate (also not free) module for Contacts.

  • Why does the slider disappear every time I use it to move the window (Windows: FF 32.0)?

Why does the slider disappear every time I use it to move the window (Windows: FF 32.0)? How do I get the slider back?

Problem solved: I have been using Walnut for Firefox ver. 2.0.28 theme. For some reason this has been causing the problem. Started FF in Safe Mode, and the slider problem disappeared. Then proceeded to re-enable the Walnut theme: the problem reappeared. Disabled Walnut theme and reenabled all my other add-ons (about 6 of them). Still no problem. So, clearly there is a problem with the use of Walnut theme in FF ver. 32, at least on my Windows 7 installation.
Thanks for all your suggestions and help. Good job, all!

  • Exporting an  interactive quicktime movie to be be used on PC

I have created a Keynote 06 presentation that is to be interactive. I exported to Quicktime using Sorenson 3 compress, best setting. When I go to watch the presentation it is not interactive. My goal was to create a Keynote presentation that stays on until I click on the PC laptop and this would tell Keynote to advance 1 slide and hold until I click the the keyboard again. What I currently have is a Quicktime movie which is 5m33s total running time it plays all the way through, it is not interactive at all. I need to know what am I doing wrong. I have to deliver this presentation for tomorrow A.M. so any and all help is appreciated.
    Sebastian

    No, no special keys.
At this point, I'd suggest creating a two frame presentation with a hyperlink on the first slide that takes you to the second slide and a hyperlink on the second slide that takes you to the first slide. No transitions, just text on the slides labeled slide one and slide two.
See if you can get this simple presentation to work correctly. If it doesn't determining what the problem is will be a lot easier than working with a large presentation.

  • Can't use HDV quicktime .mov files (captured in Final Cut Pro) on a mac at work) on my PC at home

    Hiya everyone!
I've taken some work home from the macs at work, but can't open it on my PC.
Footage was captured in FCP on a mac at work, HDV quicktime .mov, but won't open in the newest quicktime, windows media player and more importantly in Adobe After Effects CS3 or Premiere Pro CS3 on my PC at home.
When I try opening the files in quicktime, the screen is white, but the audio plays. They don't open in windows media player at all. When I try to import them into Premiere, I get a message reading, "Error Message, Codec missing or unavailable". But they import into After Effects, except they only play as white...
I've tried converting them into almost everything, and they often play (as .avi for example in the newest QT, WMP, Adobe Premiere and AE), but they increase A LOT in size and decrease A LOT in quality.
The HDV files that won't open read as:
    Source: *.mov
    Format: HDV 1080i50, 1920 x 1080, Millions 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), 48.000 kHz
    Movie FPS: 25.00
    Playing FPS: (Available when playing)
    Data Size: 69.53 MB
    Data Rate: 28.10 mbits/sec
    Current time: 00:00:01.64
    Duration: 00:00:20.76
    Normal size: 1920 x 1080
    Current size: 1920 x 1080
Anything smaller than 1920 x 1080 plays fine.
I've been all through google, and the adobe and apple sites, and the best I could find is here:

No one in the whole world seems to have an answer...
Does anyone here know how I can use the HDV files from the work macs on my PC at home?

As a rule of thumb, any CoDec associated with the Apple Pro applications is generally not available on Windows. This also includes their flavor of HDV. The only exception at this point is ProRes, for which they added a player component recently. So therefore this would have to be what you use for capture/ export from FCP. Apart from that you can of course always buy a capture card from Blackmagic or AJA with the benefit of the CoDecs being available cross-platform... Or you use a commercial software-only CoDec like Cineform.

HEy, I have been looking into this problem... i also wanted to play quicktime files using my pc... The last thing i tried was downloadiing these codecs
    1)apple pro res *for pc
    2)mpeg 2 codec for pc
I have HDV files captured on a Mac G5 they are 30p 720,
I think i am close to solving the problem because: before installing the codecs i couldn't see the video and only audio.. but now i open it and i can see the video partially... here are my screen captures....
anyone interested in getting this solved???,... i would also like some help in importing m2t files from VLC player to HDV split where they can be read and edited. Thank you.
Ultimately my goal is to be able to edit these HDV files directly and export them back out with good quality.. because my only editing choice right now is Windows movie maker.
this is an error i got from the HDV split program. Its supposed to read m2t files..

  • Interactive Quicktime Movie Events (Keynote)

I'm developing an AIR app that lets the user play a quicktime .mov from their computer.  This movie will most likely come from an exported Keynote presentation.
In case you're not familiar, Keynote lets you export a quicktime movie that is interactive... it will automatically pause after each transition and you can click anywhere on the movie to make it continue to the next slide.
In the flash VideoDisplay component it plays right through these "pause points" instead of stopping automatically.
Is there any way to have quicktime movies automatically pause at those points?  Or is there a way to at least get a callback when they're supposed to happen so that I can pause it manually with actionscript?
I know it sounds far fetched, but this would basically let you play a keynote presentation inside flash.

  • Interactive quicktime movie from keynote doesn't stream correctly on web

    hello,
Any help with this would be extremely appreciated as I've been trying to solve the problem for 3 days straight. I've created an interactive slide show in keynote and now want to stream it on my website. The problem is that the finished product, a QuickTime movie keeps re-starting when it reaches the first interactive link until the movie is completely loaded. At that point it then correctly stops at the first link but by this time it has looped the beginning of my movie three times. I've tried figuring out a way to partially load the movie before it starts playing through JavaScript to no avail. I'd like to avoid loading the whole movie before starting it due to its length. If I have to pre-load the entire movie, I'd like a status bar for loading but controls hidden while it plays.
    Help please!

  • Safari Crash When Microsoft Scrollwheel Used Over Quicktime Movie

Lets say I have a Quicktime Movie displayed in a web page opened in Safari. If I put the cursor over the movie and scroll up and down with the scroll wheel, the movie will go into scrub mode briefly before completely crashing the system. The computer will not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard input. I have to ssh into the machine and issue a 'sudo reboot' to recover (not really a recover though). I have the most current firmware and system updates. The problem is reproducible with a fresh user account, as well as with a clean system install.
    • I tried a different Microsoft Mouse that was of the same model and it did the same thing.
    • I just tested a Kensington StudioMouse, and the problem doesn't exist.
    • I also tried the Microsoft mouse on another MacBook and it did not exhibit the same problem.
Anyone have any insight to what might be going on?

New information: I guess the mouse was a Red Herring, as the problem is now happening with any type of mouse, as well as the trackpad. So, scratch that information. Actually, whenever a page with Quicktime embedded is displayed, it crashes. Same with opening movies in Quicktime Player. Something is fundamentally wrong here...
Yes, it happens in a test accout as well. I even went to the trouble of zeroing the drive, and reinstalling a fresh copy of the OS. I tested pre updates, and post updates, and it is reproducable across all instances. This was all done in front of a Genius at the Apple Store.
The problem is, Safari doesn't "crash", so no crash report is generated. The whole UI just locks up. I can move the mouse around, but it does not react to clicking or keyboard input. I can SSH into the box, and when I run "top", I don't see anything pegging the CPU.
Firefox work perfectly displaying Quicktime Movies. Also, if I set Safari to run in Rosetta, I experience no problems. It has something to do with Safari and the Intel Quicktime Plugins.
    This is all too baffling...

  • Converting quicktime movie to windows movie maker!

Okay! So I have a project due tomorrow and me and some of my friends made a movie with my Kodak EasyShare camera. When we put it onto my computer, it saved itself as a QuickTime video. Following the transfer of the video onto my computer, I opened Windows Movie Maker and attempted to transfer the video clip onto the Movie Maker.
    The following message appeared:
The file C:\Documents and Settings\Elizabeth\My Documents\My Pictures\Project Pic and Files Storage\100_1248.mov is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.
How do I convert my video on QuickTime to be imported into Windows Movie Maker? All suggestions would be creatly appreciated! Thanks, Karlee.

What I've done in the past is to covert the .mov to a .avi using QT pro, then movie maker was able to accept it.

  • Exporting Quicktime Interactive to Windows BUG - Fixed in Keynote 3 ???

There is a problem I have exporting from Keynote 2 to QT on Windows:
When the slide advances - a browser window opens and an error comes up "File not found".
There was a whole discussion a year ago I found about people having this crippling and annoying issue.
Does anybody know if this was fixed with Keynote 3?
My deadline is approaching fast and I don’t want to buy the new version if it is not fixed.
    Powerbook G4 1Ghz/1Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    Powerbook G4 1Ghz/1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Welcome to the discussions, YoBo71.
No, it has not been fixed and we're not sure if the problem is actually with Keynote or if it's with the way QuickTime for Windows is parsing the file. We DO know that if the Windows PC is using QuickTime 7, then you don't want to distribute Keynote produced interactive QuickTime movies.

  • Keynot export as Interactive Quicktime to Windows fails

I'm using Keynote 2.02. When I export my presentation as an Interactive Quicktime file, the file will not play at the Windows XP machine without error promts every time a " page is turned" in the presentation. Just as if Quick time (in Windows) was looking for a new image and cannot find it. The XP Internet Explorer error promt states "Cannot find 'file:///c:/.........presentationfile_name.mov_slidexxx'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
    Anyone have a clue ?
    Max

Yes this is a known issue. If the PC is running QuickTime 7, interactive QuickTime movies won't work.

  • How to find the frames-per-second of a Quicktime movie using Applescript?

Is there a way to find out the real-time "frames per second" of a Quicktime movie?
The only Applescript movie properties in Quicktime which I have found to be useful are "duration" and "time scale". The real-time duration of the movie in seconds is found by dividing "duration" by "time scale".
But "time scale" only sometimes relates to any real time property. In some cases it does (2500 = PAL 25 fps, 2997 = NTSC 29.97 fps) but for many other movie types I've opened (DivX, flv, mp4 etc) the "time scale" is often reported as "600" even though the Quicktime movie inspector window will report a frame rate of 25, 29.97, 15 or some other number.
Where does the Quicktime movie inspector window extract the FPS from, and is it possible to extract that same number, or calculate the real-time FPS of a Quicktime movie using Applescript only?
    Thanks.

Thanks for this but unfortunately it only works for some movie types. For .dv .flv and .divx movies, this script correctly calculates the FPS. But for .mpg .mp4 and .m4v it does not.
For .mpg movies I tested, the count of frames was always 1, so clearly the FPS calculation is always wrong.
For the .mp4 and .m4v movies I tried, the FPS was always reported as 43, regardless of whether the actual FPS was 25 or 29.97. In all cases the count of frames was incorrect.
    A bug in Quicktime?

  • Quicktime movies play a half scrambled screen  in Windows XP with QT7

Sometimes the quicktime movies in windows xp will only play 1/2 screen and thats scrambled. The lower part of screen is usually a pixaly blue color. The Apple quicktime movies for fcp demos are like that. The same files play fine on my mac. What can I do to correct this if anything.
I am running the latest version of quicktime for windows
