Using ipod classic with altec lansing inmotion im600

has anyone had any experience where the music just stops and the display goes to the battery full pattern while in the middle of playing music through a dock?
this has been happening with my ipod and it doesn't seem to happen when it's not connected to the dock.

it is possible you might have to buy an attachment...i think you have to do that with BOse speakers, but i'm not sure abou these

  • Compatability with Altec Lansing inMotion player

    Hi guys,
I am thinking of switching to the iPod fifth generation, but I have some concerns. Will the 60GB or 30GB iPod fit into my Altec Lansing player? I use the Altec Lansing inMotion IM3c.
I need to know if it will fit.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi--
How can you tell if you have an IM3 or an IM3c? I'm in the same dilemma regarding upgrading to a 5G iPod.
    Thanks!
    Sharon
Following up on my previous post:
Altec Lansing customer support told me today that
they are to come out with an adapter for the Nano
first and sometime in the future should make an
adapter for the 5th gen ipods to fit the IM3. For
now, they said only the IM3c version will work with
    the 5th gen ipods.
I had pointed out to the person I spoke with that
there appeared to be a lot of 5G ipod owners not
wanting to replace expensive speakers for lack of an
adapter. So, based on the age of a persons' IM3,
Altec Lansing may exchange an IM3 for an IM3c--as
they are doing for me. Now that's customer service!

  • IPod nano and Altec Lansing inMotion im5, clicks between tracks?

When I'm using my iPod nano with the Altec Lansing inMotion im5 there are 'clicks' between the tracks. When I'm using my iPod headphone I don't hear these 'clicks'. What could be wrong?

I've been playing around with my iPod nano and the im5 speaker system. I guess that the clicks might be caused by a gap (longer than 5 seconds) between the songs. It would have been no problem when the iPod should have a crossfade playback like iTunes has. I haven't heard the clicks when I use the iPod dock. The one I heard was just a strange end of a song....sorry!

  • Do the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Speakers work with 80GB iPod Classic???

I have already bought these speakers and now I am worried that they might not work with my new iPod. On the website, it does not say that it is compatible with the new iPod classic, but its doesn't say that its not either. Just incase you don't know what speakers I'm talking about, its this one: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/canadastore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=E2 856423&fnode=home/shopipod/ipodaccessories/speakers&nplm=TM019LL/A
    PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm beginning to think that speakers should work with the Classic ipods because they don't need software to run??? You connect them to the ipod using a dock or a lead. I think the issue with the camera connector could be to do with the software that it uses to transfer photos from camera to ipod.
I'm looking at speakers which'll either be the soundtraveller k3000 or the Altec Lansing Orbit. Both are within budget and have decent battery life although the latter doesn't appear to be able to run off mains but has longer battery life.
What I might do is email the 2 companies and ask or even possibly phone them as both are UK based.

  • Using iPod Classic with Real Player

I recently received an 80GB iPod Classic. This is my first portable media player. I have purchased music from the Real Store using RealPlayer. This music is rights protected, and I do have the proper rights to use the downloads. In Real Player, these music downloads come with a .rax suffix, instead of .mp3. Can anyone tell me how to set up my system to play my Real Store purchases on my new iPod? Everything I've read leads me to believe it can be done, but I've tried the recommendations on the Real Support site, to no avail. I would really appreciate any insight.

Really? My general impression is that all copy protection is proprietry and, as far as the end user is concerned, is just a bad thing. iTunes can't read WMA protected content, Window Media Player can't read iTunes protected content. RealMedia just extentds the compatability headache. Media Players will generally cope with only one form of protected content.
I don't have any practial experience with the Real protected format, but the usual workaround for this is to burn your protected content out to CD, assuming you have the necessary rights, then import in an unprotected format. There will be a small loss of quality due to the re-encoding but this should be minimal. There are also programs that can speed up this process for some formats by virtualising the CD and automating the intermediate stages.

  • Is it possible to use iPod Classic with OSX 10.3?

I bought my dad an iPod classic for Christmas and it was a perfect gift cause he has tons of music and just my old 3rd Gen. ipod to use. He clearly needed an update. The problem is that he uses my old iMac G4 that is running OSX 10.3. Is there anyway that i can get this iPod to work with 10.3 or do i have to spend more money to upgrade to tiger? any help is great, thanks so much!
    ~joseph

    Joseph,
The system requirements for the iPod classic include Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later. You can upgrade to Tiger or if your dad's computer will support it, you can get Leopard.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Using iPod classic with Apple TV

Can I hook my iPod classic up to Apple TV? If so, can I control it using the remote?

    No.

  • Using ipod Classic with OS X 10.3

Have just bought an ipod classic for a friend who has OS X 10.3. Have just noticed that the minimum spec is OS X 10.4. Are there any workarounds so that he can use the ipod till he upgrades his OS?

    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=228265
Basically, what that is saying is you first need to format the iPod on a computer that has the correct OS and iTunes, then your friend can use a 3rd party iPod manager such as Yamipod.
He will need to do that because iTunes won't recognize the Classic under 10.3.

  • Using IPod Classic with Monitor Audio IDECK

This past year I have purchased an 80G IPod as well as an IDECK from Monitor Audio. I have been unable to get my IPod to play on this system yet my wife's old 20G IPod does work on it. According to the paperwork with the IDECK, my IPod needs to have a version of 2.2 or greater. Mine only show a version of 1.2.1. How do I upgrade the version to 2.2 or greater? I have been unable to find any downloads that will do this.

You can't get software version 2.2 for your Classic because it doesn't exist.
It's referring to software for older iPods, not the Classic.
There have been many, many reports on this forum and others about the fact that the new iPod Classic will not work with existing 3rd party docks, and it seems that this is the case with the iDeck.
You should contact Monitor Audio and ask when they plan to make their deck compatible with the new iPods.

  • Using iPod Classic with IPad?

Hello all! I hope this doesn't confuse some. Is it possible to directly connect and iPod classic to an iPad and use the stuff in the iPod to watch on the iPad?
For example; I have lots of movies in my iPod, is it possible to somehow connect my iPod to my iPad and watch the movies on my iPad?
I know some 3rd party cables and/or adapters will be needed...I just want to know if it can be done.
    Thank you!

No, it will not work the way you describe. You can connect both to the computer and use iTunes, assuming the movies were purchased from iTunes.

  • I have an old iPod Classic with 80 GB (I think) of space. I saved all my songs in an external hard drive, but the iTunes library resided in an old computer (no longer working). Can I get the libray from my iPod and use it in my new computer (Windows)?

You might want to check your process for moving your iTunes music against this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

  • What version of iTunes should I use for my 160gb iPod classic with a 2.0.1 software?

I have a 160gb iPod classic with a 2.0.1 software. I just had my laptop fixed and I downloaded the new iTunes but I can't sync my iPod. I think this is because it's not compatible with each other (am i right?) Well, anyway, I need to know what verstion of iTunes to use so that I can sync again on my iPod. Thank you!

    hi PT the devil advocate,
    The first reason why I'm suggesting this is because of the first question ask in this post;
    sphericalcamel wrote:
I updated iTunes to whatever is current through software update, but when I tried to run it I was informed that it needed 10.4.9 to run (and for some reason software update didn't pick up that requirement).
The second reason, is because you will not receive full support on older software version. Like said above, you cannot buy song with an older iTunes version.
Beside, I said in a previous reply of this post that this is my personal preference to keep software up-to-date and that _I do understand_ that other person could prefer to stick with software version that have been proven to work well and not update. Having say this, I do not beleive that you need to play the devil's advocate here.
Nevertheless, this is normally suggested to keep software up-to-date in order to prevent either security issue (lot of updates are for improving security) and also for bugs issue. I'm not suggesting to buy Leopard here. I'm only saying that 10.4.2 is out-dated by 9 version which are free upgrade and that at version 11, 10.4 should be quite mature now for all computer.
For me, based on this, I do not see any reason why someone should not be running previous version than 10.4.11. If there is sleeping bugs running 10.4.3 and not 10.4.2, I'm suggesting to adress this issue instead because _there must be a solution to this_.
In order to solve the issue, I'm just suggesting to post it on Tiger forum.

  • Does ipod touch 4th generation work with Altec Lansing Octiv Mini Executive Edition?

i want to buy a speaker and i wonder if my ipod touch 4th generation work with Altec Lansing Octiv Mini Executive Edition
    plz answer

If anyone is interested I managed to solve this problem by reformatting the ipod as a mac ipod, with the help of friends system. This does get rid of the music but as I had it backed up wasn't a problem. I then plugged the mac Ipod back into a windows pc and reformatted it as a windows ipod which updated the firmware correctly and have'nt had a problem since.
