Using iTunesU, all GET ALL icons are grayed-out!!!

Dear iTune Friends,
I have been recently downloading courses from iTunesU, until recently when...
I discovered that after double-clicking the course-photo, the GET ALL icon appears normally. But after a few seconds, it turns gray and will not respond to any or all mouse-clicks.
It happens every where that I go, Arizona State, Stanford, The Open University, Yale and even Oxford.
I am using iTunes 10.1.1 and Mac OSX 10.6.6.
Not a single thing has changed, it suddenly began happening and Apple Tech is, as usual, non-responsive.
Could someone please direct me onto the correct pathway for resolution?
Best Regards,
Robert O. Cobb, PhD

  • HT6437 My itunes cannot locate my ipod. All the sync option are grayed out and diagnostics says that itunes cannot find usb ports and that no device is connected when it is. What should I do to solve this issue?

So itunes is giving me problems. Since around Christmas time, itunes decided to stop reading my ipod. I connect it to my computer with the usb cable and my computer will recognize that a device is connected but itunes will not. If I go to file->devices and try to sync, all of my sync options are grayed out, while before it would just automatically sync.
When I run diagnostics it tells me that under ports that it cannot find usb ports (it has a green circle?), a type of cable isn't found, and that no device is connected with the usb cable (which my ipod is). I have been trying to fix this issue but nothing is working. I've tried restarting my ipod, itunes, and my computer, i've also tried resetting my ipod and uninstalling itunes then reinstalling itunes but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Do the USB ports work for other devices?
    Does the iPod charge?

  • All options in iWeb are grayed out!

This might be a stupid noob question, but when I first launch iWeb, it gave me a bunch of options to choose different templates and create on my own page. Now when launch iWeb, all the options are pretty much grayed out. The only option to choose from under "File" is "Close". Just about all the other options under the other menus are grayed out as well. Any help would be appreciated.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The only thing that I have heard other people try that has worked more times than on chance alone is to delete the iWeb application and then reinstall iWeb 1.0 from your iLife or recovery disks. Then update to 1.1.1 via Software Update.

  • Unable to format usb stick all options in erase are grayed out

Iam having a problem with a 2 week old emtec 128gb usb stick, it is stuck on read only.
I bought it because i recently bought a new macbook pro 2013 and i needed a drive that worked on both mac and windows to transfer mostley media files from my old hp to the mac.
It worked fine the fist couple of times i used it, copying/pasting files between windows and mac, and then i connected it to my gf macbook to copy some files but i couldnt because it had changed to read only. I connected back to my macbook to change it in the get info but there was no option to change it on the bottom in the sharing & permissions it just has "you can only read". I connected back to my gf macbook and tryed the same thing but that didnt work eirther. I then tried to repair the stick in disk utility but i only had the option to verify and that told me to repair it but the repair button it gryed out, so i then tryed to re-format it but all the options in the erase part are gryed out.
I have also tryed to format it on a pc but that didnt work it say it is "write protected". There is no physical switch on the stick itself that makes it read only. The sticks format is fat32.
So my question is, does anyone know of this happening before and if so did they find a solution??

So emtec had a restore tool for that modle usb stick, they sent me this download http://www.emtec-international.com/sites/default/files/drivers/restore.ziip
This fixed it, even tho i stated i own a mac in the email i sent to emtec this restore program will ONLY work on windows

  • I turned off my ipod and turned it back on, and lots of apps are grayed out

I have an Ipod touch 2nd gen 16gb, and I turned it off last night, and turned it back on, and lots of the apps lost the picture for their icon, all of the data is there, but the icons are grayed out, I tried restoring from a backup, and restoring, and nothing helped. I thought it had to do with the putting iOS 4.3 on it, since I am stuck on 4.2.1, and I tried the same with my 3rd gen 8gb, the 3rd gen also grayed out the apps, and when I plugged it into Itunes to update to 4.3, I had iTunes check for updates, and it didn't find anything, please help!

Your "3rd gen 8gb" iPod is really a 2G iPod.  Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods.
You stated: "I tried restoring from a backup, and restoring, and nothing helped."  What do you mean by the second restoring?
Have you tried restoring to factory defaults/new iPod since you may have corruption that is also in your backup.

  • Typewriter tool options are grayed out

I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional Windows version. In the Typewriter toolbar there are icons to increase/decrease the size of the text or increase/decrease the line spacing for text typed with the Typewriter. I can type with the Typewriter, but size and line spacing icons are grayed out. Why would this be? (no security on the files I'm working with)

Has anyone found any solution to this yet? I have the exact same problem. When I click on the Typewriter tool and start typing, the option button for chaning size and spacing remain grayed out. This is quite strange. I am using Acrobat 8.1.5 for Windows.

  • After years of owning all things Mac, I am finally trying to use iChat, and can't get it to work. I see my buddy, but all I can do is send a message--the video and audio chat icons are gray, as is inviting to a video chat under Buddies.

After years of owning all things Mac, I am finally trying to use iChat, and can't get it to work. I am using gmail, and I see my buddy (no camera icon next to her name), but all I can do is send a message--the video and audio chat icons are gray, as is inviting to a video chat under Buddies. My buddy has the same problem as I.  We are able to do video chat through gmail, but I had hoped to use iChat.  I am using OS 10.6.8, iChat v. 5.0.3.  What am I missing?

    HI,
iChat will Video chat to another iChat in a Jabber Buddy List (Google run a Jabber server for GoogleTalk)
However it will not Video to the Web Page login to iGoogle or the Web Mail Page login.  (where people can Google Chat as it were in a  Web Browser).
Nor does it video to the Google Talk Stand alone app for PCs or any other Jabber apps on any platform.
iChat uses a connection Process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which is also used by other VoIP devices.
Jabber/XMPP invited the Jingle Protocol for Jabber Applications.
Google have included this in their Standalone app and the Plug-in for Web Browsers on both PCs and Mac (you can get this as a Standalone Plug-in or as part of Chrome)
More on this here  This article has been changed several time in the recent months.  It now claims a greater involvement by Google in writing the Jingle Library (Although now Google's version does not work with the others)
This tends to mean that using the web Login to Google to Chat also cannot video chat to other Jabber apps that are using Jingle.
If your Buddy is using iChat then check the Video Menu has two items to Enable Camera/Video chat and Microphone/Audio chats are ticked.
In the View Menu the Show Status Items should be ticked (Selecting them toggles the tick and the function On or Off)
It could be Internet speed but at this stage I would doubt this at this stage.

Mine appear in gray, too; I think that's just the style.
Does this problem occur on all pages? (If it only appears on YouTube or other pages with Flash players, it may be related to keystrokes being captured by the plugin.)
A standard diagnostic for possible interference by add-ons is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If your keyboard shortcuts work correctly, this points to one of your add-ons or custom settings as the problem.
    Any change?

  • Cannot Share - All Options are Grayed Out

New to iMovie '08 and having problems getting my projected rendered. Here's what I did: First, I imported 4 .mp4 files. No problem there. They came in in the order I wanted, all the thumbnails are fine, I can play it from the 'play' button at the very lower left and all I want to do now is burn to DVD. However, all the Share options are gray. Yes, I select the project in the Library before trying to Share. Of note, the 'play' button on the middle left at the bottom of the upper half of iMovie, if I press that, does nothing. What's going on? How do I get this thing rendered? Thanks!

    David,
Have you moved the clips you wish to use in your project from the Library to the Project pane?
From what you describe, it sounds like you haven't.

  • All my desktop icons are Adobe Reader icons, can't access related files

I was trying to open a file this morning, and when a pop-menu asked what application I wanted to choose (from a list) to open it, I clicked on Adobe Reader - just as a guess.   After that,  just about all my desktop icons are Adobe icons, and when I click on them, the pop up menus says I can't access the file.   These icons also show up on my menu of all my MS Office programs like Outlook, Word, Excel,  etc.
Tech support at Adobe recommended I use System Restore, but it also is now an Adobe icon, so I can't open it.    If anyone can help reverse this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi,
This also happened to me this morning. Now all my icons are PDF symbols and Reader opens when I try to open any other program. I uninstalled Reader it and it fixed itself but when I reinstalled the program the same issue occurred.
I wanted to make PDF reader the default application when openning PDF's vs. Distiller, tinkered and broke my computer.
Any clues on how to bring everything back to normaL?

I have no idea how to open it because when I use spotlight search to open it it gives me a message saying "Creative Cloud is not open anymore" help!

Since you didn't include any pertinent info such as the Mac model and OS version you are running, here is some general information:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
Depending on which OS yours came with originally - and which OS you are now running - you would either need your original install disks - you can call Apple for replacements by giving them your serial number. Or you may be able to reinstall the OS by using recovery (again, depends on which model/which OS).

If it is still slow after removing Symantec, you may need a RAM upgrade. Yosemite can run very poorly on older machines with only 4 GB RAM.
