Using Lightroom in a multiple user instance
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I currently work at a high school and create the schools yearbook. I would like to start to manage my photos using Lightroom. I have 5 licenses and would like to hear suggestions about how to best teach my students proper techniques in managing and organizing their folders. Ultimately I would like for students to be able to add images to one common library and have the images show up across multiple computers. I am under e impression that this is not possible, as the catalog contains all of the image data (retouch info, tags etc). I am hoping that there is a way though.
LR uses a single-user database. There is no way multiple users can work with the same catalog, at least not at the same time. It's also not possible to have the Catalog on a network drive. Catalogs need to be on local drives.

Problem: Using iTunes 6 with multiple user accounts in XP
I recently installed iTunes 6.0.0.18 as an upgrade in Windows XP Professional. After installing the software and a restart, I attempted to use iTunes with success as the Administrator. However as another user, iTunes when launched will prompt the user with the user license agreement. When the user accepts the agreement, iTunes never opens, however I have noticed that the hard drive where the music files are located is continually accessed. When logging out an "End Task" message pops up stating that Quicktime Helper Files are still being used.
After the problem arose I attempted twice to completely uninstall iTunes, restart, cleanup the directories, reinstall, and then give all users full control permissions in both the directory structure of iTunes and the registry, with the exact same results.
Currently I have no fix for this problem, but I suspect that it is an issue with the software (iTunes 6.0.0.18). I have since downgraded back to iTunes 5.0.1.4 and am not having any issues.Hello B,
So I finally had time to download the latest version of iTunes (ver. 6.0.1.3) and install it (logged on as the Administrator account). Please note that during the install I did get an error message that stated something to the effect that "a program tried to access memory location XXXX which is "READ" only." I believe this to be the new memory lock "virus" deterrent system that Intel has recently introduced with the latest 64-bit processors and motherboards, (which I have) but I am only guessing. In any case the installer finished in the background without incident.
After installing iTunes I launched it as the Administrator, and everything work just fine. I then logged off and logged in as my user account and attempted to run iTunes. I got the license agreement window, clicked "Accept" and nothing happened, but again I noticed that the Network card and my NAS were being accessed. I launched "services.msc" to check, as you suggested, to see if my QuickTime service had started. Much to my surprise the service was not listed. So I figured, well if there is such a service that needs to be launched then perhaps launching QuickTime would start this service, (still baffled to why the service is not listed in Windows Services). I launched QuickTime, and while leaving QuickTime open I then attempted to launch iTunes. Much to my surprise it started! I then closed both apps and have attempted to start iTunes several times since with success. A crazy fluke but, the steps listed above seemed to work for me. I can only hope that it helps others out who may be experiencing the same issue.
So it seems that my issue has been resolved. Thank you for all your time and efforts on this matter, I do appreciate it.

OS: Red Hat ES 5.2
OBIEE : 10.1.3.4
We one development server(Linux) where one OBIEE 10.1.3.4 was installed with os user as 'ora1a' (Deployed on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.4)
and now I have installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on same Linux Server with different user(ora2b) and different mount point (Deployed on Another Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.4 )
But My OBIEE was not working and I came to know that only one can be working by default.
After following few notes i have update NQSConfig.inc and odbc.ini with different ports ie from 9704 to 9725 and bounced BI server and presentation server
But still its not working can any one tell me what are all needs to update to make it work

Need help with multiple users of a catalog
I run Lightroom in a small office and several of us have to have access to the image catalog, using Windows XP. To accomplish this, the images were placed on a shared external drive, the catalog was created on a USB flash drive and Lightroom was loaded on multiple computers. Everything has been fine and this strategy will work for us. However, when I move the catalog to another computer (logged on as a different user) the catalog appears with all keywords and image adjustments, but my import presets are not available. The preset files are located in the preset folder that accompanies the catalog, but they won't appear in the drop down box within Lightroom when attempting to import images. My temporary solution is to recreate the import presets, which I have done for one other user so far, but I don't want to have to do that for each new user. If one looks for the preset file, it is located in a folder called "user", but I have not figured out how to get Lightroom to recognize and use the preset files after logging on as a different user. When I move the catalog (USB flash drive) back to my computer (original computer, original user), then everything is fine again and I can see and use al the presets.
Anyone use Lightroom accross users or machines? Any way to get Lightroom to "see" and use import presets by multiple users?

If each user has a preset folder/directory, could you not create a symlink that points to oen on the USB device? And then keep all the presets there?

I've just come across the lightroom product and have downloaded a demo.
It looks great, but am I able to use this to allow multiple users to manage the files? i.e. on a server. Or is this software designed for use by one user on one PC?
If not does any other Adobe software offer this functionailty?

Thank you!A single Lightroom license entitles you to install the program on two computers, Windows or Mac or both. But it is for your own personal use only, not for multiple users. If you want to install on multiple computers for multiple users then you need a license for each computer and user.

Running Aperture 2 on my iMac that I share with my wife. We each have a separate login for things like ichat, mail, safari prefs, etc. I am the photo enthusiast (hobby), but she likes to post a lot of the pictures (of our kids primarily) on our family website, and can make her way around Aperture enough to drag pix to an external upload folder
I've been using Aperture with the library on the internal drive, with backup on the external FW400, but am using it under her login so she has access to the pictures (library in her "pictures" folder). I would prefer running under my login so I have access to my setup. Would it make sense/work well to put the library on the external drive so it can be accessed by any user? Are there any permissions that would need to be changed? Or should I try to put the library in a shared folder on the internal hard drive?
I have a separate external HD for time machine.

What I do is use iPhoto as the multiple user photo application and every month I put our favorite images into iPhoto. Time Capsule with multiple users. Data Safe?

I was just wondering if the I use Time Capsule with multiple users (multiple macs) I believe the backups are all seperated and password protected. Am I right?
But what about the migration assistant? Doesn't the migration assistant help you to transfer your data from one mac to your new one without asking for a password? So wouldn't it be easy to use the migration assistant to get data of another time capsul backup?
At the work place of my girlfriend they are using time capsul, and I'm not sure if I would advise her to backup her data to that timecapsule. Ok you can exclude folders, but not the mailaccount.Youknowthebo wrote:

I mean I understand that if you migrate a user account from one mac to another you wouldn't gain access to the home folder of that user, but as I understood the migration assistant it is possible to migrate data to a folder of your choice. First post... Be gentle. I've been using lightroom for my personal photography since I switched to digital photography several years back. I'm currently using a Canon 5DIII, lightroom 5, running on a recent generation IMAC and it all works together very intuitively. I've tried using a HP laptop in the past when traveling but I find that I have problems when trying to sync up the images between the laptop and the IMAC and seem to always lose something or lose my image tweaks or something... so I've since returned to just waiting until I return from the trips to tweak my photos on the imac.
Ok The question: I've recently started a outdoor gear review site Rugged Individual and as you will see if you check out the site, I'm having a hard time with photo management between all the different authors, and so have some horrible stock pics on the site. My dream is to be able to have all the collaborating writers and photographers manage the images for their reviews in Lightroom or in a way that I could centrally access them from lightroom. This would make tweaking the images to look consistent SOOOOO much easier.
Is there a way to have 10 or more individuals use the same lighroom database? There would be a mix of different OS's.
I've searched the forums but haven't figured out how to do this effectively. If there is another product that could be added to lightroom, or a cloud solution that lighroom could leverage, I would be very interested in trying it out.

Unfortunately Lightroom does have certain limitations:
A particular catalog can only be accessed by one instance of Lightroom at one time.
(ie it is not designed for multiple simultaneous access.);
As far as I am aware a catalog cannot be accessed remotely although images can be.
Victoria Brampton has a solution using Dropbox where both the images and the catalog are stored on Dropbox.
Individual users download the catalog to thier workstation and work on images etc and then shut down Lightroom and update the catalog back to Dropbox.
No one else should acessing the catalog or images while one user is using the catalog and images otherwise a conflict will arise and someones work will be erased.
Disclaimer: this sort of setup is NOT supported by Adobe and is not risk free (for more reasons than I have elaborated).

How Can I Use Multiple Weblogic Instances in a Single OS

Actually I have to install Some different applications. Few of them need weblogic 10.3.6 and others need 10.3.4. The OS am using is Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.
Now I am able to install 2 separate(One of 10.3.4 and 10.3.6) instances with two different users,In two different directories.
I have installed the weblogic 10.3.6 version with a user webadmin and installed node manager with port 5556. This is working fine.
The main problem here is :
In the second instance (10.3.4 ) installed with a a different user and gave the port number to NodeManager as 1600 and its not getting started. Its throwing error and also after some errors in the terminal am able to see that its reverting to port number 5556 only.
What might be the issue?
I have to install 2 different versions of weblogic in a single Server. But am failing with NodeManager. What Can I do to have multiple weblogic instances with multiple versions in a single server ?
Can anyone suggest a resolution for this please ?

We are a school district using an Active Directory environment. We currently use other Adobe products with multiple users on different machines and it works fine. If Lightroom does work in a domain environment what are the required local user permissions needed for it tor work properly? Thanks!
Lightroom is not a multiuser program. It is required that the catalog is located on a hard drive that is local to the machine accessing it. There are no workarounds.

Multiple Users on Lightroom? Or Other Solution?
I just called Adobe technical support and spoke with someone about using Lightroom to organize patient photos in a medical office. I was told that Lightroom does not support multiple users, and there is no work-around solution or plug-in for this. Can you please confirm this? I need a software to organize a photo library/catalog of appx 20K before and after photos. Multiple users (appx 3-5) need to be able to access and update the same library/catalog simultaneously. We are a Mac only office. Please help.

Lightroom is the wrong tool for the job - consider Bridge instead.
At the risk of stating the obvious: no matter which way you go (software-wise), you (your team, I mean) need to make sure one person isn't stompling on what another has done (or preventing access denial when it's needed).
That said, many have come up with Lightroom-based solutions that support some people working on one set of photos (or same set of photos, but different metadata/settings), whilst another team member works on a different set (or same set, but not same settings/metadata). - whether any of these ad-hoc solutions would be acceptable to you, I can't say.
But most of them involve using catalog export/import, or xmp, and/or reserving exclusive (master) catalog access temporarily...

Coldfusion 11 Multiple Instance Multiple User Access to Settings Summary exception
I have a multi-instance and using multiple user administration. One of my users notified me he was checking an exception when viewing "Settings Summary" in CFIDE. I was able to replicate the issue by creating a new user and assigning all available permissions. Going out on a limb, I'm guessing the the function $funcCHECKROOTADMINUSER is checking if the user is the "admin" user, which they are not.
Can someone confirm if this is actually what is happening?

How to create multiple component instances at runtime using java

I need to create component instances at runtime using java.I found ComponentSet.add method.But I am not finding a way to get handle of ComponentSet.
I see methods with params of IRuntimeNode.But how to get ComponentSet from IRuntimeNode.

This is a common challenge for those using Configurator Extensions with multiple instantiation for the first time. The problem is that the CIO's representation of the structure for multiply-instantiable Components differs slightly from what both Configurator Developer users and Configurator Runtime users see in those respective applications. Multiply-instantiable Components are not direct children of the Model in which they're defined. Internally, there is an entity that sits between the parent Model and the instantiable Components; that intermediate entity is the ComponentSet object you've found in the CIO documentation.
If the name of your multiply-instantiable Component is "My Component", then its ComponentSet may be accessed simply by calling getChildByName("My Component") on its parent Model; a List of the instantiated Components may be accessed with the ComponentSet's getChildComponentNodes() method, and instances may be added and deleted using its add() and delete() methods.

Multiple weblogic instances using IIS to proxy the requests
I have a need to run multiple weblogic instances using IIS as the web
server.
Does anyone know if this is possible. I am aware and have been able to run
multiple weblogic servers as an nt service,
but in those cases weblogic was being called and IIS was being bypassed.
Now the user base wishes to use IIS to proxy the requests.
I have been able to set IIS to forward using the .jhtml and .jsp file
extensions to the iisproxy.dll, but have not been able to forward these
requests to multiple weblogic instances. When the request is made it is
only looking in the first instance of weblogic for the request.
Is it possible to use weblogic and IIS with two or more weblogic instances,
without weblogic acting as a webserver.
I dont believe this is possible but I need to find out if this really is the
case.

EdYou need run each IIS web server instance in its own memory space. This can
be set through the Management Console for IIS.

that IIS & NT proxies .JSP pages to the weblogic servers. It's very
unstable this way & I wouldn't recommend this config.
We switched to Apache with virtual hosts to do this & it works fine. It's
probably not the answer you want to hear, but it works very well.

I need to dump the table to the text file. The table has NVARCHAR data type field and simple select * from table_name does not work. What do I have to do? Do I need convert NVARCHAR to VARCHAR and if yes, then how? Thanks, Oleg
