Using Lightroom Mobile to sync photos to desktop – proper workflow?

Just wondering what people suggest as a workflow for importing photos taken on a cameraphone into a Lightroom library.
I want the photos to be saved into the same folders on my hard drive that the rest of my photos go into (Pictures > 2014 > 8 > 3 etc). Using Lightroom Mobile and syncing with the desktop app works well, but the files aren't saved inside my library, are they ...
Is there a way i can do this without physically importing them?

Hi,
it would be interesting to know exactly what you are doing here.
Does it mean that you upload the images from your Lr Desktop?
It might take a while before the sync is done.
Which version of Lr are you using?
If you compare Lr Mobile with lightroom.adobe.com - is there any difference?
Does it help to update Lr Mobile to 1.2.1?
Thanks,
Ignacio

  • When I use lightroom mobile it does not show all the photos in my camera roll.  I have 57 and it only shows 32

WHen I use lightroom mobile  I have 57 photos on my iphone . I transfer them to my ipad and then I try to put them in Lightroom mobile from my ipad camera roll and only 32 show and transfer

Same problem here, and with even fewer photos. There should be 14 photos (per the LR collection info), but when I view on my iPhone (5s), only 11 appear. They do all appear on my computer.  I've tried the following to make it work on my phone:
Creating a new collection and importing there. It says one photo is in the collection, but none actually appear.
Completely shutting down and rebooting the iPhone.
    Deleting and re-downloaded the app.
    None of these have worked.

  • How to sync the video to my iPad using Lightroom Mobile

    HI,
I wonder how to sync the video to my iPad using Lightroom Mobile. At the moment seems those video files have not been uploaded. I got all my still images downloaded to the iPad except video files.
Hope someone here can help. I am trying to use Lightroom to replace iPhoto. This is the only thing bothering me.
    Thanks.

  • Using Lightroom Mobile as travel downloader/editor

    Friends,
I'm a new member of the Lightroom family.  I'd like to use Lightroom Mobile while traveling whereby I download RAWs (or RAWs and .jpegs) to my iPad, edit the images on my iPad, then easily sync/transfer those edits to my computer when I get home.  Is that possible?
    Thanks!
    Steve

I don't think it matters that the iPad isn't colour managed (and LrM isn't designed for it). OK, it might if you are brave or stupid enough to make exhibition quality prints without reviewing the image on a real computer. Instead the adjustments on the iPad are ball park, equivalent to Quick Develop, they give you time to think about the image, try out crops, rate and flag etc. Your time in front of a monitor is then spent on fine tuning.
An alternative workflow is possible if you get access to a real computer while you're travelling and if it has decent upload speeds. Log into your lightroom.adobe.com in a web browser and drag the photos from Explorer/Finder into a collection in the browser window. The raw file then uploads, and will be synced down to your computer when you get home. You can then make adjustments in LrMobile and avoid kludges like Syncomatic.
Personally, I think the small laptop is still the way to go. For now anyway.

  • Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines

I have use of so many cloud services including the 20gb that Adobe gives me.  Is there a way i can sync my catalog on the cloud so that i can have all my metadata on both my laptop and desk top?  I also have 300gb of cloud storage though Copy.  I would just like some recomendations on how best to go about it. Thanks

    Hi Pat,
Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines
If you’re running Lightroom on a laptop during your location shoots, you might want to take all the edits, keywords, metadata, and of course the photos themselves, and add them to the Lightroom catalog on your studio computer. It’s easier than it sounds: basically, you choose which catalog to export from your laptop, then you take the folder it creates over to your studio computer and import it.
You need to decide whether you want to export a folder (all the imported photos from your shoot), or a collection (just your Picks from the shoot). In this case, we’ll go with a collection, so go to the Collections panel and click on the collection you want to merge with your main catalog back in your studio. (If you had chosen a folder, the only difference would be you’d go to the Folders panel and click on the folder from that shoot instead. Either way, all the metadata you added, and any edits you made in Lightroom, will still be transferred over to the other machine.)
Please refer to http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1930499 for more details.
    Thanks!

  • Can you use lightroom mobile to share your catalog on another computer?

Can you use lightroom mobile to share your catalog on another computer?

What you can do is use Lightroom Web via your browser on the other computer. You go into your browser and log into your Adobe account at https://lightroom.adobe.com/. You can then:
use the P, U, X keyboard shortcuts to add pick flags
use numbers 0-5 to add ratings
    remove photos from collections
let others see a collection by making it public, sharing to FB etc, giving them the Adobe URL
add new originals to LrMobile by dragging them from the other computer's folders and dropping them in the browser - the newly uploaded file will be automatically added to your main catalogue. Try this, it's got lots of potential uses.

  • Those who purchased Lightroom outright can not use Lightroom Mobile without a subscription?

This seems quite odd that the licence does not include the Android platform and Adobe force the purchase of their CC subscription.

If the company in question is not one of the owners of the cloud, then I would share your surprise.

Your final point about losing one's catalog if the internet goes down doesn't make sense to me, if I understand you correctly.
My catalog remains on my PC along with the LR software.  LR Mobile uses the internet to sync some of the information stored within it with mobile devices.  If I lose the internet I lose communication between the devices but not my catalog.
I'll try to clarify. To use Lightroom Mobile, a Creative Cloud Photography Plan is a minimum pre-requisite costing (about £8 a month where I live). If that is your only license agreement, if you do not own a perpetual license of Lightroom, I can see subscription ending scenario being triggered in the event of an extended internet blackout or a combination of events the designers did not think of. This is an interesting readRe: Top Ten Questions About Creative Cloud.
Take 3 scenarios, all without a perpetual license:
    a) you do not own a perpetual license and are on a trip, a field trip, without internet access for more than 7 days and you are using LR on a laptop, the 7 day period grace gets triggered. Let's assume that you are offline for more than 14 days, you might very well loose access to your catalog but not to your files unless you get internet connection (good luck if your visiting certain parts of the world)
    b) you stop paying your subscription, you lost access to your catalog
    c) for reasons now unknown to us we loose internet connectivity for a month or the Adobe servers are unreachable, you lost access to your cataog
What is in your catalog? You keywords, collections, saved prints, possibly books, and crucially any adjustments made to your files. So loosing your catalog = loosing all your hard work.
I have been on trips with extended periods without internet connectivity but had my camera, laptop and LR installed on it; photography was the whole point of the trip. Without a perpetual license I would have lost access to my catalog more than once. As for c) not happening, I am old enough to remember the year 2000 problem and the mad rush to fix all of this computer programs that only supported 2 digit years and were not meant to have been in use 40 years after they were wrote.
I fail to understand why we have to design systems that must have access to the internet on a regular basis. It makes the internet a single point failure.
To sum up, you must own a perpetual license not to suffer a subscription ending scenario.

  • I have Lightroom 5.5 as standalone app on my laptop and I want to use Lightroom mobile too. But I am not an Adobe CC subscriber. Can I use LR mobile? Right now it's telling me it's on trial and I have only 17 days left.

I have Lightroom 5.5 as standalone app on my laptop and I want to use Lightroom mobile too. But I am not an Adobe CC subscriber and I don't have Photoshop CC. Can I use LR mobile? Right now it's telling me it's on trial and I have only 17 days left.

But I paid for my Lightroom 5.5, LR Mobile is an app for LR5, isn't that unfair not to allow me to use LR Mobile? Adobe should change this policy.

One additional Note. One of the things you can do is to try Lightroom mobile free for 30 days.

  • Lightroom Mobile Not Syncing Star Ratings

I have a couple of collections set up to sync with Lightroom mobile.  My problem is that the star ratings do not sync when I initially set things up.  Changes I make to the star ratings after the photos are synced will work.
Any other changes I make either on mobile or desktop will work as they should
Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a possible fix?.
Mac OSX 10.9.4, Lightroom 5.5, Lightroom Mobile 1.1.0

    Hi lukejc1,
did you sync the collections you are having problems with Lightroom v. 5.4 and modified the ratings on LRmobile v.1.1?
One "fix" would be to stop syncing this collection in LRdesktop, wait until collection disappears on LRmobile and then start syncing this collection again.
    Thanks,

  • How to use Lightroom Mobile on iPad

Tried everything. Tried to find Adobe Lightroom Mobile app in the Apple store. Couldn't find it. So downloaded to PC. Obviously, that doesn't help with the iPad. I have Creative Cloud membership. I just want to be able to view the slideshow that I made on my PC in LR on my iPad.  It should not be so difficult!
I can't even find a "community" to enter this question in! Oh this sucks. Why is it so damned difficult? Am I that DUMB?

LR Mobile is an adjunct to LR Desktop, not a standalone product, and does not have the power or storage to handle raw files.  LR Mobile synchronizes things from and to the Desktop version of LR through the Adobe cloud and the Desktop version is where the master catalog and original images reside.

  • I want to use Lightroom for all my photo work but want a folder on my Mac to just dump all my pictures in before transferring selected ones to Lightroom. Can I get rid of iPhoto as everyone tells me to and use something else as a My Pictures folder ?

I don't see my question listed anywhere. Has it disappeared in a cloud-help.

Your question is gone in the title.
It is a matter of your preferences.
I use Aperture instead of iPhoto, a way which can be similar to your idea to use Lightroom.
I prefer to put all my originals (Masters) on 2 external HD. Identic
Does Lightroom allow you to keep Masters on external HD and use referenced files ?
It will be a way to keep pictures (Many GB) out of the Mac and be able to find them from different Macs.
Also keep them on 2 different HD is safety.

  • Does Adobe offer just the PSE 11 Editor without the Organizer?  I use Lightroom to manage my photos.

I no longer use the organizer but use Lightroom 4.  However I would like to upgrade to PSE 11 without installing or paying for the organizer.

The Organizer is part and parcel of the installation and of PSE's coding. After Install you can ignore the Organizer and just use the Editor. This what I do...Lr 4.2 is my DAM and raw convertor, and for any further adjustments I send images across to PSE11 Editor.
The price is what it is...includes both Organizer and Editor, and there is no way of  separating these 2 components, and therefore there is only either the upgrade pricing or new pricing for the program, as a whole.

  • Lightroom Mobile stopped syncing my photos after the first collection.

Has anyone else had similar issues? My computer has the files described as complete, but the app is simply not syncing.

WWWHHHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHH.... Can you tell I am frustrated???? I have 10 collections synced without a glitch, but all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, the last two do not want to sync. AT ALL. It says on desktop they are syncing, I see the syncing animation on ipad, the two collections have showed up on ipad, but that is where it stops. Those two test collections have  a total of 9 photographs in them, LRdesktop says that it is syncing 9 photographs, but nothing happens. The animation keeps going, and by now those two collections should have long been on ipad...
So for some reason to me unknown, LR mobile randomly stops working and syncing, and the only option is delete all data so far... Since I have 10 collections that have a total of 2882 photographs in them, I am not very happy to have to delete all data and have to start it all up from scratch again, yet this seems to be the only thing doable to get out of a gridlock...
Major frustration is that I can only reach a call center in India where I presume they are working from a script, and if the problem does not fit the script they can NOT help you. I have now spoken to four people overthere and they all promise to call me back, but of course nobody does call me back.
I have been waiting for a couple of days now, and the suggestion I got in the last call half an hour ago was to wait longer, they are researching it.
Why can I not talk to a guy in England and what if their research takes them 50 days? Who is to say...
It is not acceptable to have to delete all data time after time till mobile decides it has enough, and wants an delete all data again. This is all very confusing for my workflow of course, because in the end I forget which ones I did and which ones not.
I am ready to pull out all my hair... strand by strand. The most frustrating thing is that you can not reach a real live person in England or USA who could actually troubleshoot live... Althoug I can imagine now that the only solution will be delete all data again...
It means that you are never sure whether mobile is going to work or to act up. It seems that if it starts to act up, the whole thing is messed up... It means that for the last four days I had moments of utter happiness followed by utter dispair, the latter on now again, because I seem to spend time that I should be working on photographs on browsing the forums to see if anybody else had that problem and how they solved it.
Is Delete all data really the only way out of gridlock??? Where is Julianne Kost when you need her...

  • Lightroom mobile not syncing

I have LR 5.5 and I have enabled collections to sync.  Previously the collections would show up in LR mobile but no images in the collections.  A couple of collections would say they have 100 photos but only show 3 or so... blacked out the rest.  When I clicked on the cloud it would say all is up to date.
LR 5.5 would say syncing 900 photos but again I would not see them in LR mobile.
So I reviewed some posts on this forum and tried deleting data from LR mobile to start over.... now no collections show up.  And LR 5.5 does not show how many photos are being synced.
    What am I doing wrong?

Could you please update to the most recent Lr desktop verions 5.7. We fixed lots of sync related issues which might solve what your are seeing.
