Using limiter on audio, how to apply to all clips?

so am putting a limiter filter on like 30 clips, I know that if I highlight them all and double clip the filter it will add it to all of them. But when I highlight them all again and go to the limiter settings it is still only affecting one clip, how can I use the settings for all the clips?

How to apply transitions between clips in the same track?

Hey guys,
I'm in Uni on Final Cut Pro 5 and all the videos and discussions tell of how to apply transitions between clips in the same track.
I like to have my clips on different tracks so that I can overlap them at specific points but I don't know how to do this?
If I have track one. . .which ends. . .and have track 2 beginning below that (and have it overlapped for a few seconds) I don't know how to enable the transition at the point where track 2 begins.
Can anyone help?

Let's say I overlap track 2 as I don't like the beginning of it. . .so I want the transition from the end of track one to track two to occur in the middle of track 2 - should I just trim the track to the point I want the transition to occur as opposed to have it overlapping?

The suggestion given would be applicable to your Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7.
As an aside, have you updated 12 to 12.1 yet? If not, please do so using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. The major perk of the update
is that it corrects an Expert workspace Text/Style issue. There are other less defined advantages included.

How do I move all clips from an event into the edit line...

If I have an event of tons of clips that comprise an hour of footage, how can I select all of those clips at once from the event library and transfer them to the edit line above?
There is no Select All feature, that I can see, and it takes forever to highlight each chunk of clips, one at a time, and drag them up.
I'd like to drag the whole 1 hour's worth of clips in one event in my library up to the edit line at once.

I am trying to somehow "select all" clips, (not just all shots within a clip), but all 100 or so slips from an entire tape, from the first clip, to the last clip, and everything in between, and move them all up to the edit pane at once.
As it is now, I have to click on a thumbnail, select the entire clip, and move one clip at a time up to the edit pane.
I want to move all the clips up at once.

My effects in final cut pro x apply to all clips beneath them. How do I get that to stop?

I want to put a fade in on the clips in my video, but I do not want that to apply to the background I have placed in the layer below. Yet when I put the fade on, the effect applies to the selected clip and every layer below it. How do I turn off this feature?

By fade in I assume you mean a basic Cross Dissolve transition. The best way to ensure transparency fades it to use the Opacity controls in the Video Animation editor. Select the clip you need to apply the fades to and type Control-V. The animation editor will pop up from the clip and the Opacity controls will by on the bottom of the list. Click on the little black disclosure icon on the right side which will extend the area even more. When you mouse over the left edge near the top of the area, a circle will appear. Clicking and dragging on that circle to the right will create a "ramp in" opacity. The same for the right edge to be used as a fade out.

Friend gave me used iphone3-we used it for 6 mos -now when we synced it to PC, our used iphone now has the contents of our existing iPod - lost everything that was on our used iphone!! How to get it all back (we only care about home videos/photos). Help

A friend gave us her used iphone. We used it to take home videos and photos, and now that we synced it to our PC it has lost everything on it, and it has been replaced with the contents of our already existing iPod. In other words, all our music, photos and apps that were on our existing itunes account (used with our IPOD) etc, have been put into this used iPhone. Is there any way to get back all that stuff (mainly just want our home videos and photos back!!) Where on earth are they? Are they stored somewhere on my PC? I feel so dumb for syncing it now, and very sad for having lost my precious videos of my kids.

If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
See:
Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

How do I make all clips the same brightness?

I'm editing a four-minute video with ten clips, opening and closing titles, and a graphic. It's essentially a talking head presentation. The sound from a lapel mic is good as is the framing. But we used available lighting coming through a large window. So the top of the frame, the white background, is a little darker than the bottom. Also some clips are somewhat overall darker than others.
Is there a way that I could make them all the same brightness? In the Adjust panel I can select only one clip at a time to change the lighting. It would be neat if there was an action that would make all the clips equally bright.

Yes, there is. Assuming you have several similar clips, you make all the adjustments you think they all will need to one clip. Then, select the adjusted clip, right click, "Copy". Select the rest of the similar clips, right click and "Paste Effects and Adjustments". All the clips will now have the same adjustments.
Make this an early part of the work because ALL effects and adjustments are applied. After this first and primary adjustment is made, more adjustments can be made to individual clips.

Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40. (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

How do I merge all clips in EVENTS into one long clip so it works with IDVD

When you import a EVENT in IDVD it splits them up into the clips so you cant add more than 1 Event . I
Without importing into projects and then exporting to idvd is there a simple way to do this?

you can not share/import/.. Events..
Events are just for storage and usage in Projects.
• you have to create a Project out of clips from your Events
• then, share to Mediabrowser..
• do as many Projects as you like..
• then, launch iDVD
• look under Media/Movies.. you see a list of your Projects..
• you can add as many Projects to a DVD as you like - as long as you stay under 120min..

How do I transfer multiple clips to my sequence, Video only, I don't want the Audio.

I used Ctrl + A in my bin to select all clips, I drag it to my sequence but it puts both audio and video, all I want is the video, and the Source Track Selection only shows when selecting one clip.

Double-click the Desert Footage bin to open it. There are a series of short shots in this bin.
1. Click the Icon View button on the bin to see thumbnails for the clips.
2. Drag and drop the thumbnails in the bin to position them in the order you would like them to appear in the sequence.
3. Make sure the Desert Footage bin is selected. Select all of the clips in the bin by pressing Control + A (Windows) or Command + A (Mac OS).
4. Drag and drop the clips into the sequence, positioning them on the Video 1 track right at the beginning of the Timeline, above the music clip.

Video filters not working when applied to sequence clips

I have looked through the forums and haven't found the solution to my problem. I am having problems with video filters on clips in the timeline. I have footage that needs color correction. In the viewer I created a 3 way filter for one clip, saved it, and applied to all clips in the browser. They all open corrected in the viewer. (I did this because i was reviewing the clips with my client).
When I put the clip in the timeline it does not indicate it needs a render, the filter does not appear on the clip, but when I double click and open the sequence clip in the viewer the color correction tab is there. I've removed attributes and tried again several times, both using the menu with the clip selected, and by doulbleclicking the clip into the viewer and apply the filter there. The tab is always there but the filter does not appear on the clip. It only appears when the process is done to clips from the browser inthe viewer. I've checked the RT for unlimted, I've done a render all video, I've checked settings under the render tab and filters is checked. I've gone into another project and have the same problem in a different project with different clips. I had a recent project where I used a blur effect and it worked fine. My video is DV and my sequence settings are DV NTSC.
I've run out of my ideas and comments from ither threads. What is my next troubleshoot? Should I delete preferecnes? I haven't done that with FCP, can I do it myself or use Rescue? Could that create other problems for me? Any other ideas?
I work in Afghanistan and have no resources here for any Mac support besides books and forums.

Not sure what the issue is with your application of the 3-Way Color Corrector in the Browser. My guess, is that perhaps you only thought you applied the "saved" instance of the 3-way corrector but instead applied a default neutral instance of the corrector. How did you save the correction you applied to the other instances? A good method is, having applied and tweaked it as needed to a sample clip instance, you can drag a copy of it out of the clip's Filter tab and drop it directly into your Browser window. To check, then double click that Browser instance of the corrector to open it in the Viewer window and see if has the corrections settings as expected and no the default ones. If so, go ahead and drag it to another clip instance in the Browser and then drag that clip to your sequence ... has the correction "stuck" bow? But while we figure it out, for now, why not just apply the saved correction directly to the clips in the sequence? Regarding trashing your preferences ... download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion. Very straightforward to use.

However, if something performs unexpectedly, if it's not a bug, it's at least a user-inconvenience.
When an unexpected result like this occurs in a product, often the documentation writer is given the task of writing the workaround into the docs. That's not a great way to fix bugs permanently, even if it does help in the short term. So, it's probably a good idea to point to where in the documentation it seems that the product-performance problem is smoothed over, when filing the report/request.
Feature enhancement requests and bugs are filed the same way. And, developers do listen to requests. Many features in many Adobe products originated in feature requests. However, product managers and, financial-management folks above them, who have some power to decide where to expend resources, set the priorities. Adobe's new subscription model is supposed to release some of the pressure on developers to meet a new release deadline every-so-often, where a whole bunch of product improvements is revealed, and instead, under the idea of making constant improvements available through more-frequent updates, users will get results sooner.

So if you can not get complete set of data you will take a subset (which can be empty, BTW) and say this is a complete list?In a 10.2.0.4 database a user with CONNECT role only can see every username. Can't see all the details but that's the intent of the view. I don't know if this is a doc bug or what.
And, it is, BTW, a very good thing DBA_USERS is not available to everyone. List of users is part of security and is at least confidential.Agree 100%. I just thought it was a bit odd for you to suggest that I RTFM the ALL_USERS definition, and point out that the docs state it's a list of users visible to the current user, when your suggestion to the OP was to use DBA_USERS. It's likely that a user with the ability to query DBA_USERS would have all users visible to them anyway. I just didn't understand your rather rude followup directed at me. I'm just trying to help, just like everyone else here.
