Using Message built-in

Hello!
I am trying to utilize the message built-in function in Forms6i to accomplish the following:
Create and display a message w/ OK & Cancel buttons.
If user selects CANCEL, return to the form and make no changes.
If user selects OK, run a predefined set of instructions. If these instructions process without error, then display another message that reads 'Saved OK'. If there were errors, then display a message that reads 'Save not OK'
Thanks for your time and input

USE IN FORMS6I ALERTS.
DECLARE

alert_button := Show_Alert('MY_ALERT');
IF alert_button = ALERT_BUTTON1 THEN
DO SOMETHING
ELSE
END IF;
END;

  • Using Message Built-In - Message dialog box appears twice

    Hi all,
    I'm using the message built-in to display messages in forms.
    I use the message command twice to make it appear as a dialog box.(Using it once displays it in status bar)
    Eg.
    Message('Hello World');
    Message('Hello World');
    Sometimes, the dialog box appears twice instead of once.
    Is there a way to solve this ?
    Regards,
    Sam

    With an alert, you can write up to 200 characters in the alert box. With a message, you can write up to 255 characters, and if you want the message to pop up in an alert box, you can write a double message. I use:
    Message('Hello World');
    Message(' ',no_acknowledge);

  • I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic.  And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4.  However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.

    I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic.  And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4, so it appears my headset mic is fine.  I can also use voice activated dialing, although it fails miserably interpreting numbers.  However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.   I just get barely audible static.  Any suggestions?   Thanks.

    Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.
    Thanks!

  • 'Tab' character used in the Message Built-in

    Hi. I know you can concatenate a chr(10) function into the Message built-in, but is there a similar way to concatenate a 'tab' into the Message built-in or an Alert? Basically I want to pop-up a message and use the 'tab' character to seperate 2 columns of text. Like this:
    "This a message to the user:
    VarName1 <tab> VarValue1
    VarName2 <tab> VarValue2
    VarName3 <tab> VarValue3
    VarName4 <tab> VarValue4"
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    Can we see any example how in different ways/value you want to display in message?
    For keep the orignal formatting/spacing in the forum page you can use tags before and after the example/coding section.
    All small letters in curly brackets. See the FAQ on right corner of page for more clarification.

  • How do I use the built-in camera or webcam?

    I know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very baic stuff in it) and the help menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for web cam, webcam or isight.
    Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/web cam as a camera and also as a web cam?
    Thank you

    There should have been a seventy page booklet in the box with your new iMac.  If yours is the latest version, clicking here will download it if you cannot find the physical copy.  If yours is an older iMac model, you can search for the correct manual from the iNtel iMac Support Page > "Manuals" link.
    After that, Mac 101 is a great web-based information source.  If you don't need general help, take a look here for specifics about each application of interest.
    VortexBoy wrote: ... and the help menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for web cam, webcam or isight....
    If your posted info is correct that you are running Mac OS X (10.7.3), you should be able to get started by using your Mac's Finder > Help menu command.  Searching for "camera" (without quotation marks) on my 10.7.3 Mac returns Mac's Help article entitled "Use your Mac’s built-in camera."  This is the web version of the same help.
    Other apps, like QuickTime Player (the Lion QT 10.x version), and iMovie (part of iLife that came with your Mac) can also use your iMac's camera.
    iMovie Help or this web page version of the same help will explain how to "Record video directly into iMovie".
    Use QTX Player's File > New Movie Recording menu command to record video with it.  You can configure size and quality of the recorded material by using QTX's preferences as shown in this image:

    Different apps do not all work the same.  For function-specific help, search Help in separate camera applications; i.e., after you launch Photo Booth, iChat, QTX, iChat, etc., use the individual app's Help menu command to search for more info on the camera or what you want to do.
    This article offers great basic tips about how to position, light, and use built-in cameras.  Although its subject shows it was written for iMacs, it is equally applicable to other reader's inbuilt Apple cameras, too.
    For more specialized functions than those offered by the camera software already included with your Mac, you can search the Mac App Store for other apps that can use your camera.
    For webcam help with iChat, use Apple's iChat Support page if you need more help that that provided in the dialog boxes and iChat > Help on your Mac.
    To use your camera with FaceTime, search your Mac's FaceTime > Help or these web versions of the same Help topics that should be available on your Mac.
    Skype or other third party webcam apps will offer their own Help menus of varying quality.  In additon to these app Help services, some apps offer comprehensive Support services via their web page.  If you decide to add Skype to your Mac, you can click here to review the excellent Skype Support pages.
    If you need to start a new topic for specific questions after you get started, give as much detail about what you want to do and what you may have already tried unsuccessfully.  We will offer specific suggestions based on the details you provide.
    Enjoy your new Mac!

  • How can I use the built-in Isight camera with an external camera (usb/firewire) at the same time?

    How can I use the built-in Isight camera and an external video camera at the same time?
    I'm wanting to stream over Oovoo/Skype/etc. using 2 cameras.
    Thanks

    Simple question with a not so simple answer.
    (a) If you mean that you want to run multiple apps simultaneously using a different camera with each app, you may encounter computing power limitations.  Digital video is processor intensive.  The only way to know if your Mac can do this it to try it.  If the video does not work together but each app works when it it the only app running, you are likely overloading your Mac's ability to process and/or move all the required data in your data bus.  You can get a better indication of whether this is the case by watching your Activity Monitor utility while running the apps you want to use.
    (b) If you mean that you want to have more than one compatible camera connected to your Mac simultaneously for ease of changing between video sources, some, but not necessarily all, apps you are using to operate your camera(s) allow you to select between your cameras.
    How you select among connected cameras depends on which application you are using. Here is how camera selection works in a few examples:
    (1) For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
    If you cannot see the "Camera" choices bar, your Mac is recognizing only one (or none) of your cameras. In that case, consider the suggestions fromhttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 for iSight problems or refer to your other camera's documentation for help.
    This particular choices bar solution applies ONLY to iChat. Most other applications also have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.
    (2) For instance, iMovie HD's camera choice is NOT set via Preferences. When you have more than one compatible camera connected, iMovie6 HD uses a drop-down menu choice something like this (depending on which version of iMovie you use):
    Note: Because I had no built-in iSight connected when I made this example, and because my external iSight was not connected, the drop-down menu showed only "Time Lapse." Because your Mac has a built-in iSight, your built-in iSight would show in the drop-down menu even when no other camera is connected. Connecting an additional Mac compatible webcam should allow you to choose either camera.
    Other iMovie versions work slightly differently.
    iMovie 9 (from iLife '11) uses a different camera choice button shown in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84285.html
    iMovie 8 (from iLife '09) is slightly different as explained in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/8.0/en/10172.html
    In general, you can use your Mac's help for the application in use to find out how to select among more than one connected camera.
    (3) Photo Booth in Snow Leopard 10.6.x and later uses the Photo Booth > Camera menu command to select which camera to use.
    Note for readers with older Mac OS X: The previous version of Photo Booth that came with Tiger (10.4.x) is such a simple, basic app that it offers no menu selectable choice. Unless your built-in iSight is already occupied as the camera being used by some open application before you launch Photo Booth, Photo Booth will use ONLY your built-in iSight.
    However, you can use the trick from ¶ 4 of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302781 to let Photo Booth use an external camera.
    (If you have an external Firewire camera connected, it may be used in preference to any USB webcam. If that is a problem for you, merely disconnect the problem Firewire device.)
    (4) For FaceTime, launch the app and click the Video menu item.
    If your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, a "Camera" section listing the cameras from which you can choose will appear there. Clicking on the desired camera name will let you select the one you want as shown in this image from my Mac Pro and LED Cinema Display:
    If your Mac recognizes only one compatible camera, the "Camera" section will not appear in the Video menu, but FaceTime will automatically use the connected camera that is recognized by OS X.
    (5) I do not use Skype oir Oovoo.  For those or other apps, see Help for each app for info on how to select your desired camera.

  • Printer is in use message, and unable to print!

    Good Afternoon-
    I work with a copier sales/service company, and I've been dealing with a driver installation issue that I'm hoping SOMEONE can help me with.
    When installing a copier on a customer network, I use the manufacturer's installer file, and then configure the new printer in "System Preferences"... followed by some configuration settings in CUPS.  Most times the installation goes off without a hitch, but occasionally when printing a test page (or ANY page for that matter) I see a "Processing-Printer is in use" message in CUPS, and then after 30 seconds or so, the job fails to print.
    I set them up as a IP printer, using Line Printer Daemon with "lp" in the queue name, and the correct drivers.  I've set up multiple machines in the same office, sometimes using the same OS-X version... only to have one of the devices fail to print.  Everything else works correctly, including the built-in printer utility that's in the print drivers.
    Can someone point me in the right direction... I'm stumped at this point.
    Thanks in advance- Steve
    (Please keep in mind for every 100 printer installations I do, 3-4 will be on a Mac.... and I'm Mac "Familiar", not fluent... so please answer accordingly)

    Pahu-
    Thanks for the quick response.  I will change the configuration when I can get back to the customer's location, and see if that resolves the problem.
    What's odd to me is I'm just wondering WHY some computers will print just fine with the LPD configuration, while others won't.  I will try your suggestion though.. Deeply appreciated!!

  • When using the built in web server, is there a way to specify a different

    When using the built in web server, is there a way to specify a different error handler when you try to access a NON .CFM file? Right now I get the standard:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: filename.ext
    Is there any setting to override this and direct the message to your own .cfm template? The missing template handler in the CF Admin work only for .cfm files.
    Thx

    The in-built web server for ColdFusion 8 is JRun. I am on ColdFusion 10, however, and so cannot offer hands-on advice. (CF10 replaced JRun with Tomcat.)
    My guess is that you have to modify the file {CF_ROOT}/WEB-INF/web.xml. Don't forget to create a back-up first!
    You may then proceed as follows.
    1) In the ColdFusion root (CF_ROOT), create the file myCustomFileNotFound.cfm. Give it some content, like
    My custom File Not Found page. Current time: <cfoutput>#now()#</cfoutput>
    2) Open the file {CF_ROOT}/WEB-INF/web.xml in a text editor. Add the following error-handling specification just before the end tag </web-app>:
    <error-page>
    <error-code>404</error-code>
    <location>/myCustomFileNotFound.cfm</location>
    </error-page>
    Save the file web.xml.
    3) Restart ColdFusion. Test by browsing to a URL requesting filename.ext

  • E71x little "@" shown when NOT using Messaging

    I have NEVER used messaging or the "set up e-mail" function built into the "Messaging" key of E71x. Instead, I use Nokia email (installed as a standalone app), which is NOT autostart.
    However, whenever I start the phone, I see the "@" in the bottom line. I've checked that neither the built-in messaging or the installed Nokia Email is running.
    If I go to "set up email" in the built-in messaging, but press "cancel" all the time. When I get out, nothing changes, but the "@" sign rightly goes away.
    What's going on here? The built-in messaging of E71x has brought many other annoyance, and even not using it cannot drive the ghost away?
    Thanks for your help.

    In that case, I suspect that even though you don't have an email account set up, the phone's message store is corrupt so it thinks it's got a mailbox set up somewhere which has an unread message. Sadly the only way to fix it that I know of is to eliminate the corrupt message store, which is a directory called "Mail2" in a subdirectory of a hidden folder called "Private" on either the phone memory or the memory card, depending on where you're storing your messages.
    To keep any real messages, use another Nokia device and the bluetooth "Switch" app to transfer the message store to another handset. Then transfer it back. This will rebuild the message store completely, eliminating the spurious message (if any). PLEASE back up your phone before doing this if you need the messages! It's very easy for it to go wrong and for you to lose your message store.

  • How can I use Messages app on non-Verizon phone?

    Hi. I have two phones: A VZW personal phone and a T-Mobile phone from my employer. I wish to carry only one device when I'm at work (my T-Mobile work phone) but I wish to be able to get texts from my personal VZW number on that phone. I know I can't forward texts, so I installed the Verizon Messages Android app on my work phone, but I can't set it up with my VZW number (I figured it should work because I was able set it up on my tablet at home and it works fine there).
    After I install the app on the non-Verizon phone, I open it and I get a screen asking me if I want to use the app for my default messaging app. If I click no, the app closes without giving me a chance to set it up with my personal account like it did when I installed it on my tablet.
    I also noticed after I installed it, it's called Messages+ instead of Messages. Are they the same thing?

    Hi, has this been resolved? I am in a very similar situation and need the app to work on my new Sprint LG G3 exactly the way it operated on my Sprint iPhone 5S. Here is how it worked on my Sprint iPhone: downloaded the VZ Messages app, followed the prompts to tie it into my work Verizon Galaxy S5 number, and started to receive texts sent to my S5 on my iPhone but in the separate VZ Messages app and not in the native iPhone messages app.
    But when I install the VZ Messages app on my Sprint LG G3, it only asks if I want to "Change default message app? Use Message+ instead of Messaging as your default message application?" That is not what I want so I tap "Cancel" and the app closes. I am not prompted with the opportunity to tie it to my Verizon S5 number like I was on the iPhone. The ability to have the VZ Messages app on my Sprint LG G3 along side the native G3 messaging app, the exact same way it worked on my Sprint iPhone, is very important and the whole reason I switched from AT&T to Verizon for my work phone.

    Can everybody help me, or have tips for me! I have checked a lot of OSS Messages (PI High Availabilty etc... its all correct on the System)
    Sorry for my bad English
    Best Regards,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
    did you check if the browser is using a proxy? (In this case your scenario unfortunately won't work).
    P4-port should generally be routed via a proxy (described in the help.sap.com), but within the PI-Tools(JNLP) the proxy-usage is not implemented.  There is even a SAP-note that describes how to check the JavaWebStart-Proxyconfiguration, but this won't help either.
    If there is a proxy defined in the browser everything is working fine till you pass the logon-screen but even with the correct "javaws"-settings you won't be able to go on.
    (This problem is pretty bad if you do have developers and the SAP-servers seperated because of security issues. I'm hoping that this malfunction will be solved with upcoming patches.)
    Solution: Establish a connection without any proxy in between.
      E.g.: a terminal server in the same network
    It would be helpful to find more people with the same problem to force a fix from SAP for that.
    If anyone else is having problems with this, please add a comment to this thread.
    Best regards
    Christian

  • Can we use the built-in Row fetch for Multiple reports in a page?

    I need to create a page with multiple report regions. Each of it is based on a table. Those tables are different. I somewhat remembered that we can NOT use the built in automatic row fetch process if there are multiple report regions, neither the built in DML process. You have to make your own fetch and insert/update/delete process if you intend to.
    Also if I write my own row fetch and update processes, do I have to consider lock mechnism? or just simply write select and insert/update?
    Any input is appreciated.

    I think I found the answer. Would Scott or other gurus take a look at the thread and confirm it, in case the limitation is not in 2.0?
    Re: automatic row fetch
    What I am concered about is that the locking mechanism. If I have to write my own process to fetch and insert/update, other than the regular select and insert/update statements, do I have to put commit by myself, or htmldb can handle it automatically? Is there an example for this?
    Thanks in advance.
