Using Microsoft Exchange to access Gmail (Google Apps for Business) contacts, what is the best way to sync the Corporate Directory? For instance, we have 40 staff members and wish to populate each phone with the Gmail profile. Right now we have a third party Android app that does this and copies my contacts to each phone. This is problematic. Any solutions to populate a phone with email and phone contacts? Even it it requires double entry for me...thats ok.

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.

TS3899 Custom Domain of Gmail account(google app for business) greyed out(disabled) in iOS7 mail for no reason.

Dear guys,
I have a free/standard version of google app for business with @simmonstaiwan.com.tw as our domain. One of our user's email account one day suddenly cannot access her email account that was already setup in iOS 7 mail app. Only her company gmail acct grey out, her other personal email accounts are working just fine.
First, I thought it was her iPhone5's issue. Therefore I tried to remove the email account and re-added it back. No work. So I thought maybe it's the custome domain gmail account issue. So, I added her email account to my iPhone4s with iOS7 with correct account name and password. Still not working, the account added successful and is enable, but I just cannot click into or onto that account and see any emails. That account name just greyed out for no reason.
So, I grab an iPad with iOS6 on it and added that account onto the machine. It worked!! Looks like that email account(gmail) only worked on iOS6 device but not iOS7. May I know maybe what really caused this to occur?
Any comments or suggestions or thoughts are very welcome and will be helpful for me to debug.

You set it up, and you failed to distinguish between the SMTP servers or assign the correct one to your copy of Mail (it doesn't actually know which is which, you need to inform it)
Open Mail>Preferences>Accounts (NOT Mail>Accounts) and go down to the SMTP server list, choose the correct server for each account then check the box that says 'Use Only This Server' for each account.
This is not automatic, you get to choose and if you don't then this will result.
Remove the non functional ones.

Calendar on MacBook Pro using Mavericks 10.9 will not sync with Google Apps for Business

Ever since the Mavericks upgrade, I have had problems syncing my MacBook Pro Calendar with my Google Apps for Business Accopunt. When Mavericks first came out, I could do a work-around and set up a second CalDev account and that worked for a while. But with the most recent update to Mavericks, in part apparently to solve Google integration issies, the Calendar app will not sync either through the mail account setup in System pref, or by setting up a separate CalDev account. I have no functioning Calendar on my MacBook, thogh the CalDev account option works fine on my iPhone and iPad, and of course all work on the PC with Google Apps Sync.
Appreciate any advice, or better appreciate if Apple were to get this right ASAP.

Thank you for your answer, unfortunately that is not the solution. I found the plug-in where it was already properly installed in the Root Level Library>Internet Plug-ins Folder. It was NOT to be found in the [User Name]>Library>Internet Plug-Ins Folder, so I copied it there from the Root Level Folder, Rebooted, deleted all cookies, signed in to Netflix, and I still get the same:

So, I tried a complete re-install of Mavericks OSX 10.9, from scratch. I checked all Internet Plug-In Folders and the latest version Silverlight Plug-in is in all of them. Still, I get the same:

EPrint does not work with Google Apps for Business (hosted email)

I have looked up numerous posts, from back into 2011 even, and HP still has not resolved this.
HP's ePrint does not work with companies using Google Apps for Business (hosted email).
Our emails come from our domain, but from the servers/DNS of Google, so we wind up getting
the "550 5.7.1 Command Rehected" error.
This is a major issue as more and more companies (especially small business owners) are moving away
from having in-house/Exchange servers, and they are moving toward hosted systems.
You really need to find a way to stop rejecting emails coming from Google Apps hosted email.
It's been around 4 years now (looking at previous posts). Why hasn't HP found a resolution to this yet?

Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.

But I want to be clear: normally when we use the word "synchronize" or "sync" we are referring to an automatic update to the latest version of the document, whatever the document.
Just to be clear: to "transfer" documents is not really the same as to "synchronize". I will add to the question here with my thoughts. Please excuse me if the om only wants to transfer documents.
We have tried, over many months, to use SugarSync. It worked great when I only put in about 10 files to be synced. It took the latest version and updated it on the other computers that were connected. But when we tried to sync the whole disk ... we just could NOT get it to work right. Meaning it would scan absolutely ALL of the files on the computer looking for the ones that were modified rather than just taking the lastest ones modified and syncing those. Their tech department was not much help: I followed all of the steps they told me to do but we just could not get it to work right. What a disapointment (and a loss of money).
I would love to find a software that automatically detects what the last modified files were and it will update ONLY that on the other devices (no matter what kind of files they are).

I just downloaded a years worth of video off my HD camera. I took up 125 GB on my hard drive. What is the best way to manage this content going forward as there will be a lot more video to come in future years with small children!

What is the best way to sync APPS

OK - I have looked at the forums and have not found the best answer to what I know is just End-User (mine) confusion with syncing Apps with iTunes. I have several devices (2 iPads, 3 iPhones, and an iPod or two) - each have their own mixture of apps, arranged in their own folders depending on the use and the user.
I have not found the right settings on the device and/or in iTunes (MAC) so that backups (and RESTORES) will properly remember which devices had which apps, their folder organizations, etc.
Maybe I am missing something very simple - or maybe this continues to be a shortcoming of iTunes.
Any suggestions would be great.

So -- why is it when I select Sync Apps - I get the POPUP that all apps (and data) on a particular device will be replaced --- that is not what I want. I want to sync - but for this first time (on this rebuilt MAC) I want the device to sync TO iTune. I think that is where part of the problem is. I had a Mac HD crash (OK - not a time for could of, should of, might of ..... ) rebuilt it -- Music, Movies, etc are good - but it seems that I cannot get the devices to push to iTunes their Apps (and folder layouts) if I select to Sync Apps.

What's going to be the best way to sync/delete apps when iPhone arrives?

I'm getting my iPhone 4 delivered, so I'll have to use iTunes to activate it and then sync it myself. Hopefully everything will go alright. I'm more concerned about picking and choosing which apps I load onto my new iPhone before it automatically starts syncing. I don't want to load in some apps that might not be compatible with iPhone 4, plus I just don't want to clutter it up right away. I'm kind of thinking iTunes is going to ask me if I want to use my last iPhone backup to set up the new iphone, rather than let me pick and choose what to load?

iTunes supports syncing multiple devices no problem--after it's all set up, when you plug it in, iTunes will remember which playlists and apps you like to sync to the old phone and to the new phone.
I'd leave the old phone just as it is (other than plugging it in to back it up) until you've got the new phone up and running as you like it.
I haven't done this, but I'm 100% sure it will be possible to NOT load your old phone settings on the new phone. If you are really worried, you can dig into the MobileSync folder (user/library/application support/mobilesync) and move the backup to somewhere else so iTunes can't find it and use it.

i am starting a business and have downloaded a textfree app to text clients with a different number than my personal. In order to save my business contacts i have to add them into my personal contacts. Is there a way to either have another contact list or group my business associates from my personal family and friends?

Actualy you can manage your contacts by computer. Go to www.icloud.com , then sign in with your Apple ID. There you can add, edit, create groups and so on. But of course, you need to turn on back up your contacts by iCloud in your phone, in Settings>>iCloud

I have ordered the rMBP and will giving my old MBP (2010) to my girlfriend what is the best way to remove the programs and files that she wont use and make it her computer rather than my old one?

I have no real need to upgrade but as a student the price it would be silly not to.
I will be giving my MBP to my girlfriend but she wont use a lot of the software on there such as the final cut and CS5 and would rather use the space for her own iTunes library. Some will be kept on though like the old office suite as i have bought the 2011 one as well
Can I also remove myself as a user on the macbook so the only login is hers? I would rather it was her computer rather than my old one!

She'll have whichever operating system that came with your computer. Your updates are tied to your Apple ID so if you've purchased updated OS X versions, she'll want to reinstall them using her own Apple ID (yes, it will cost her something but not much).
Kappy's a know-it-all (and I mean that in the politest of terms) who's a frequent poster here. He has a 'canned' script about how to get your computer ready for resale. I guess he just doesn't have enough points yet to make it an User Tip, but it's a great little rundown of what to do.
BEFORE you erase everything, I would purchase (if you don't already have one) an external USB hard drive and use Time Machine to backup everything. When you startup your new computer (or afterwards if you just can't wait to see the clean, crisp text in TextEdit) you can use Time Machine to properly migrate all your files, apps and all, onto your new MBPR. If you're not familiar with Time Machine, see http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html. Oh, yeah, since you have Office 2011, you'll need your activation code handy as, for some reason, the activation code does not carry over when you use the Time Machine restore. All Adobe, etc., apps are fine. It's just that damned MS Office that gets you.
Hopefully Kappy will jump in here. If not just post a message "Kappy: Preparing MBP for resell?" or something to that effect and I'm sure that he'll see it.

I want to use ZFS filesystem compression on a history database with read-only tablespaces. What is the best way to get the datafiles compressed?

I have 5 history databases that total about 2.2 Terabytes. They use about 15 filesystems, but I can start with 2 that are isolated to only one database. I have asked for ZFS compression to be set on the filesystems, but since these are read-only tablespaces, I do not think any compression will happen. Can I simply offline, copy and rename the files from one filesystem to the other to make the compression happen?

just rsync the files to a compressed Zpool. do this using shadow migration, and you only loose access to the data for a few seconds.
1) make new dataset with compression
2) enable shadow migration between the new and old
3) change the database to use the new location
4) watch as data is automatically copied and compressed :-)
the the down side, you need extra space to pull the off.
