Using my iPod Nano 4GB (2nd gen) with the Fatman iTube's remote control.

I am using the iPod Nano 4GB with my new 'Fatman iTube' valve amp and dock.

All works fine (beautiful sound) but only some of the remote control functions work.
Volume and power off/on and treble/bass work fine but the iPod functions like skip and FF and playlists and menu dont work from the remote control.
The company that make the amp (TLA) and the dealer (Audio T) both inform me that this is a common problem with remote controls on 3rd party iPod dock hi-fi systems and that Apple are not revealing when they will issue a software fix.
It only happens with 2nd gen Nanos. All other iPod types talk with these remotes with no problem.
I have been given a temporary 'workaround' by the manufacturer which is OK for now.
Have any of you had similar problems between the 2nd generation Nano and remote controls on 3rd party (non Apple) hifi systems?

IPod Nano 4Gb (2nd Gen) not detected by Windows or iTunes

I am hoping someone can help me with this as I am at my wits end.
When I plug my iPod into the usb port, it begins the charging process, but neither windows, nor iTunes will detect any new devices. I have tried the 4 R's (the fifth needs a connection with iTunes), putting it into disc mode, and even on 3 different windows computers, but no dice. To save the no doubt normal questions, The usb ports are 2.0, and brand spanking new, which i have tested sucessfully with other usb devices, so I know it's not the usb port. I have the latest drivers & updates installed, and the latest version of iTunes also installed.
Other potentially useful info:
The model is iPod nano 4bg alu 2nd gen
It's not new, i was given it as a gift by a friend who upgraded to the video model.
Though I can't be sure, I suspect that the dock cable isn't an apple product. Given that *very few* places where I live sell official iPod accessories, it is difficult for me to check.
Like I said, i really hope someone can help me, I really don't know how long i can go listening to my friends rather dubious music tastes...

I have a iPod nano 4 GB (2nd gen.) I have had it for years and up till recently the battery was great on it.
For a few weeks now my battery will die very quickly. I will have it fully charged and within 2 hours it will be dead. I have no applications running, just music. Nothing has changed at how I use it, but the battery just does not hold.
I charged it again last night and listened to music for about 30 min when I checked it, the battery was about dead. I gave it a few min. then it said it was half way charged?
I do not have wi-fi or anything on this...just music.
I also checked to make sure its software was up to date which it is. Can it just be the batterys worn out?

Yes. Your iPod's Lithium ion battery will slowly start to lose its ability to retain full capacity over time. Nothing lasts forever. Sorry.

As of this moment, goPod version 1.4 does not support the nano 2nd gen or the new iPod 5th gen.
But as goPod removes the volume cap imposed by European law, you should not need the use of goPod if your iPod was purchased in Australia.

Recently for christmas I've bought a new iPod touch 2nd gen and it's awesome, everything is great about it - in my opinion; except for the fact that I tried to dock it on the fatman itube docking station and found it not to work. Before I used it I was aware that the 2nd gen is unable to charge on the dock however I didn't expect the speakers not to work too. All that happens is a message on the ipod comes up saying unable to charge with this accessory but doesn't put any sound output into the fatman, it just sits there blasting out it's own quiet internal speaker, and also strangely the remote DOES work too???
I've read on the net that maybe resetting the ipod by holding the home+stand-by switch for 10 secs but this resets and does not fix the problem...
There are many photos on the fatman website showing a ipod touch docked so it seems to be sold as working with it but who's to blame for this fault? Apple or fatman?? And does anybody know of a fix for it?
Also I tried my mums ipod nano with the fatman - works fine, and my firmware on the ipod touch is nice and up to date with version 2.2 so I can't see anything else I can do. This was my christmas & birthday present and at the moment I'm quite annoyed that all I can do to it is stick a mini jack in the headphone socket - not ideal since there's no video output or remote control that way!!!
Please give advice if there is any out there,

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.

Does Av digital adapter works with the universal dock for remote control?

if I only connect the Lightning to 30 pin adapter to the universal dock for remote control it works so good with music, spotify, Netflix, YouTube etc.
but if I add the av digital lightning adapter to watch on Tv, the dock and remote control don't work anymore what can I do? I want to watch stuff on tv and use the IR dock for remote control please help me what's going wrong?

I recently purchased a universal dock for my iphone 3g. It works great. I just had one question. When my iphone is sitting on it for lets say 20 - 30 minutes. Then if i press the buttons on the remote. nothing happens! If I then press the home button while it is on the cradle then, the remote, it plays music. There after lets say if I stop stop the music through the remote and again press the remote button after a few minutes it starts playing. So what happens after a long time. Why do i have to press the home button on the iphone for the remote to work. Is that how it is supposed to work???

Backup the 3g by syncing in iTunes. Then connect the new one and sync everything to it from your backup.

hey guys.im new to this whole ipod thing and have been trying for 6 days to get itunes 7.6 to download but it wont!!! i have service pack 2 and im pretty sure i meet all the other erquirements. everytime i try to download it, my computer says it is "not a valid Win32 application." please help! i've tried everything!

Try deleting the temp files and then downloading iTunes again as described here:

When the window pops up asking if you want to run or save, choose save. Then run the installer after the save completes.

My Ipod freezes the second i disconnect it from the computer (I mean the cable) and the only way for me to turn it back on is to reconnect it to the computer.

Definitely sounds like your iPod's battery is dead especially if you have left it to charge for such a long period of time. You may want to double check this article first through to make sure you have tried everything.

You can have Apple replace it for you for a very hefty price, a third party repair company for much less such as [iresq|http://www.iresq.com>, or you can even do it yourself if you wish.
Or simply look into getting a new iPod if you wish.

He owns a company that buys supplies from another company so we end up getting a lot of points fast. Using two iPods on two XP accounts with the same music

I can't find an answer to this exact question in the forum. We have two iPods and a Windows XP account each. I set up two iTunes accounts for the iPod as instructed, using a shared music folder on the Documents and Settings/All Users/Shared documents folder. This appeared to work quite well. However I continued to load a lot of CDs onto one of the accounts, but although the shared iTunes music folder seems to have all the CDs loaded in it (and the second iTunes account points to the correct folder), the second iTunes account doesn't access that music loaded after I set up the two accounts. Can anyone tell me how to sort this out?

iTunes does not automatically add files to library like you are looking for. The user that did not add the files has to do a file or folder import to get the tracks into that library.
This is the one feature I really want added. I have already put in the suggestion.

Don't understand question, Changing iPod shouldn't affect iTunes on the computer you sync with. Plug in new iPod, it should take you through some screens of options asking how you want to setup the new iPod.
Just did this when going from 7+ year old iPod video to iPod Touch 5th gen.
