Using Native Oracle XML DB Web Services - REST POST web service possible?

My goal is to expose some pl/sql procedures as a REST web services.
The Database is 11gR2
The request method needs to be a POST (not GET as a request will perform insert/updates ) - the request body will contain a xml structure
Have setup XMLDB Database-native Web Services as per
11g documentation "Using Native Oracle XML DB Web Services"
It seems this setup support only SOAP requests!?
RESTful webservice with GET is (sort of) supported using
Embedded PL/SQL Gateway as describer here:
http://ora-00001.blogspot.com/2009/07/creating-rest-web-service-with-plsql.html
Although no support for POST
Obviously the post is from 2009 so just want to know if anything changed since.
Has anyone found a way to expose pl/sql procedures using XML DB or other approach as a REST POST web services?
(As the relative low number of calls/hour and also the aim to have the least amount of moving parts therefor looking for a DB centric solution)
Thanks
Pete

I think the post referred to was more an exercise of what could be achieved. The quickest way, nowadays, to get this done with not too much hassle is via APEX

  • Use native webkit renderer instead of Adobe Air for web content (getting webgl running)?

    I'm doing a little R&D right now to see what is possible with the DPS in order to evaluate if it's the right (powerful enough) tool for us. Right now it's for internal purposes, that is a DPS app/magazine as a means of showing our clients our work. One idea I had was trying to use WebGL features in order to create things such as turntables (or even 3D walkthroughs of things like fair booth designs with pre-baked textures in order to ensure proper performance), however unfortunately the content viewer seems to be using Adobe Air 4 for rendering web content, which means WebGL isn't supported. Am I right about this?
    Is there any way how we can get around this? The Adobe Air viewer seems to be extremely limited in terms of HTML5 feature support, including lack of proper rendering of Edge Animate compositions.

    If you are an existing DPS customer you can go to https://appbuilder.digitalpublishing.acrobat.com and create a custom viewer to test.

    I have the alias *.xsql set to map to the servlet named oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet under the Servlet Aliases section, but I'm not sure how to add the servlet under the Servlet section, as I'm guessing that this is the problem I'm now experiencing. I tried adding oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet as both the servlet name and class, but this is not working.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Rani,
    The following is part of a message that was posted back on Nov. 7 of '99 from Steve Muench. I just followed this exactly with the Java Web Server 1.0.1 and it worked fine (including adding the classpath settings and xsql servlet mappings as it says below). Thanks,Dan
    Here's the steps I just followed to run all the XSQL Demos under JSWDK 1.0.1
    (1) Downloaded jswdk1_0_1-win.zip from Sun
    (2) Installed in D:\jswdk-1.0.1
    (3) Edited "startserver.bat" to add the
    classpath entries needed by XSQL Servlet:
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\classes111.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\oraclexsql.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\oraclexmlsql.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\xmlparserv2.jar
    (4)Edited d:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/WEB-INF/servlets.properties and added the line:
    xsql.code=oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
    (5) Edited d:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/WEB-INF/mappings.properties
    and added the line:
    .xsql=xsql
    (6) Copied D:\xsql\demo to D:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/xsql/demo
    (7) Started the Webserver with "startserver.bat"
    (8) Browsed http://localhost:8080/xsql/demo/index.html
    (9) Exercised all the demos.
    Hope this helps.

  • Parsing errors with CDATA tags using oracle xml parser v2

    I'm using the oracle.xml.parser.v2 parser to combine a
    generated xml document from a database with a static
    xsl file to produce html. Within the xml document, there
    are fairly large CDATA sections (500 lines) which happen
    to contain javaScript.
    Occasionally, I'm getting xml tags in the final html
    document! It seems that the oracle parser pukes
    on a certain type of data within a CDATA tag, and then
    replaces an angle bracket (<) of a tag with a #60. This
    can cause html tags being viewed in the document. At
    first, I thought the amount of JavaScript within the
    CDATA tag was too large for the parser to handle,
    because when I split it up into 2 or more parts the errors
    went away. But, re-arranging the JavaScript (String in the CDATA tag)
    can make the errors disappear. And, if I
    use the Saxon parser to manually combine the xsl with
    the xml, the output is fine. If anyone knows that this is
    a confirmed bug by Oracle, or any other relevant info on
    this, please let me know.

    Hi,
    Your lucky, i've just finished a project that used the oracle parser extensively.
    I think the problem may stem from your xsl. Although your cdata tags may be well formed, in the xsl you might need to escape the text again, this may mean that the xsl needs to print a further cdata tag around the data. This is because the parser (well the version I was using) strips the cdata tags before the transformation happens.
    This is the probably the cause of the nasty html output.

    On further test, If I let the default oracle xml parser be loaded, then I do not get the the exception.
    I have removed the following lines from orion-application.xml
         <imported-shared-libraries>
              <remove-inherited name="oracle.xml"/>
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    Now, If I access the JPDK provider URL
    http://ple-fjunod.peoplesoft.com:9820/pspc/providers/psprovider/ps/EMPLOYEE
    I get the excepted page
    Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.

    pdkjava.jar version: 10.1.3.2.0
    Can someone please tell me that if I remove the inherited default oracle XML parser using remove-inherited tag in orion-application.xml, how do I make the JPDK use my own packaged xerces XML parser.

  • Nls support with oracle xml parser in java

    I'm using The JAXP interface to manipulate xml with xsl. the implementation that I use is Oracle xml parser.
    My xml contains a lot of hebrew chars, and in the result stream each char translated into 5-6 chars, which makes the result to be 5-6 times bigger than it suppose to be, and harder for me to debug my application.
    The client's browser shows the results well.
    How can I make the transformator to transform the hebrew chars to hebrew char istead of longer and not readable string ?

  • XML parsing problems with Oracle XML parser for PL/SQL

    I am using the Oracle XML parser for PL/SQL to transform XML into HTML usign XSL. The parser gives me sporadic errors trying to parse various XML documents. For the same XML source, the XMLPARSER will parse without errors one day and the next day will give me errors such as "invalid char in text", "Expected ';'.", or even Java null pointer exceptions.
    I have verified that the XML sources are well formed, so I am pretty certain that the problems I am having are bugs in the XMLPARSER.
    Is there going to be a XML parser for PL/SQL version 2 that will fix these bugs? If so, when??? If not, is there anything else I could do to fix these problems?
    Thanks!

    You can use the latest version.

  • Resolving oracle/xml classes

    I am running Oracle8.1.7 on a Windows 2000 PC and have developed an application using java1.2.2 that makes use of oracle/xml/sql/query/OracleXMLQuery
    My problem is that when deploying the application into Oracle DB I get the following error:
    resolving: METER001/dbAccess
    errors : METER001/dbAccess
    ORA-29521: referenced name oracle/xml/sql/query/OracleXMLQuery could not be found
    resolving: METER001/Class1
    At first I thought the problem was due to different java versions and I did a loadjava with XSU12.jar, but I still get the same error. If I connect to database using browser integrated into JDEV3.2.3 as user level used for deploying application I can view oracle/xml/sql/query/OracleXMLQuery under the SYS schema and can see the correct class with correct parameters.
    I did have this working before, but after setting up a new machine (same software) while remembering the problem I can't remember how I corrected it.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    I have just tried something else that makes even less sense to me. I logged on with sql as SYS and ran sql query:
    select status, object_name from all_objects where owner='SYS' and object_type='JAVA CLASS' and object_name like 'oracle/xml/sql%'
    The results I obtained did not agree with what I could view with jdev database browser.
    Why whould these be different?

  • Oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLException: XSL-1009: Attribute 'xsl:version' not found in 'RO

    I'm using the oracle.xml.parser.v2. The files (xml, xsl) are:

    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="king.xsl" ?>

    <xsl:text> &; FAMILY </xsl:text>
    </TO>

    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    The error is: oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLException: XSL-1009: Attribute 'xsl:version' not found in 'ROWSET'.
    The files are well formed (tested with XML Spy 3.5). Can you see what's the problem? or is it a bug with the parser?
    help,
    Alberto

    I encountered the same problem. When I change the order of the XML and XSL files, i am the same problem.
    Perhaps it's the environment AIX 4.3.3, JDK IBM 1.2.2 with JIT disable (because when JIT is enable some other problems become)??
    How can i resolve this bug ?
    Thanks.

  • Sending document to oracle xml gateway web service and body is url encoded

    Hello,
    a question from a complete newbie to web services. I have some code that is sending a soap message to an oracle xml gateway web service. In the soap message the values in the soap body look like &lt ;CNTROLAREA&gt ;
    when I would be expecting <CNTROLAREA>. What I have been told is that the content of the ReceiveDocument element has been url encoded which causes the &lt and to correct it I need to change the paramater type from object to xmlnode and to build the request as an xmldocument. The xmlnode and xmldocument comes from a .net guy so I've been trying to find the equivalent in java but am not having any luck. I have a lot of reading to do but was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction on how to correct the problem. I captured the soap message being sent using tcpmon. Why does the body have the &lt instead of the < as I was expecting and is there an xmldocument type? The header part of the soap message looks as I expect. "><soapenv:Header><ns1:XMLGateway_Header xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/fnd/XMLGateway"><ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>XML</ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>. It is being sent as a com.oracle.xmlns.apps.fnd.XMLGateway.XMLGateway_Header type.
    thanks
    Thanks

  • Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB

    Hi all...
    I think I need some help one this subject....
    We have a 10G Release 2 Oracle single instance ( not RAC) install on a Linux Redhat v5.3 64 bit server. Are developers are user Visual Studio .Net and wnat to send xml files to a web service so that the xml file (containing data) can call a PL/SQL package (to be written) which will take the data out of the xml input file and insert rows into a prefined table within the instance. Now they have browsed the web and have come upon the following links...
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb_web_services.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb22pro.htm#i1026724
    Currently, within the database I looked at the schema XDB and have unlocked the account and connected as the user XDB. There are some 680 objects in the following groups...
    SQL> select object_type, count(*) from dba_objects where owner='XDB' group by object_type;
    OBJECT_TYPE COUNT(*)
    SEQUENCE 2
    PROCEDURE 5
    OPERATOR 8
    LOB 334
    LIBRARY 12
    PACKAGE 20
    PACKAGE BODY 17
    XML SCHEMA 25
    TYPE BODY 5
    TRIGGER 12
    TABLE 36
    INDEX 51
    FUNCTION 5
    INDEXTYPE 2
    VIEW 2
    TYPE 144
    16 rows selected.
    Now in the links above it mentions that the xdbconfig.xml needs to be altered etc. However, I have searched the entire $ORACLE_HOME and there is no file definition of that description.
    From a DBA prospective...what do I have to install on the Linux server? I assume from the Oracle Database 10g Companion Products I need to lay down Oracle HTTP Server in a new Oracle home as the first step...or not? Does the HTML DB need to be installed as well?
    And for Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB...what else has to be installed? And from what product line?
    Thanks in Advance....
    Cheers
    Roegr

    Hi Marco...
    First of all ...thanks for the reply.
    I followed the link and the infor in that web page. However, there were a few things that did not work....
    1. The http://localhost:8080/ as is brought up a web page withe the heading as
    ==========
    ORACLE DATABASE 10g EXPRESS EDITION LICENSE AGREEMENT..
    ==========
    The other browser test ftp://localhost:2100/
    did not find any page?
    2. Then I went onto running (as the sysdba) the pl/sql to enable the ORAWSV Entry Service
    however it error out. So I did a describe on DBMS_XDB and the function deleteServlet does not appear
    then I had a look and this link to > http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=471
    was for 11G and the other link > http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369.pdf
    was for 11G.
    However, we are on 10G
