Using one mouse for two computers

Hello... I use the bluetooth mouse and keyboard that came with my iMac G5... I also have an iBook G4 that I'm using right now. I usually just use the trackpad, but sometimes would like to use a mouse. Can I just use the mouse from the iMac, or do I have to "unpair" it from the iMac first? I've tried to just bring it near the iBook and attempt to pair it, but the iBook doesn't recognize it.

Hi..Try using the Bluetooth set up assistant .
I don't think U need to un-pair it
located in the "Utilities" folder in your macs "Applications" folder .Set up a wireless mouse on the laptop ..

Adobe CC or any perpetual previous version allows you to install & activate it two times (on the same computer or other different one).
As per End user license agreement, only one computer can be used at one given time.

How to use ONE IPod on TWO Computers

I have an Desktop-PC using ITunes 5.0 and an IPod 20 GB. When I connect my IPod with my Laptop, the complete IPod is deleting by the ITunes on the Laptop. How can I use ONE IPod on TWO Computers without deleting the music hole time?!

I think you need to manually update on at least the computer that has the smaller music selection.
it may be best to turn off automatic updates on both machines and manually add and delete songs.
or you could network both computers to share one music library

Howdy! I have itunes on my PC Tower. I just bought a MacBook Pro and wanted to buy a song, but "it said no" .... I have to create an account first. My ID/Password did not work. Can I just have one ID for both computers?

You may need to 'authorize' your new computer under the Store menu from w/in iTunes. Keep in mind that your iPod (if you use one) will only sync with one computer--not both. Also, the songs you buy on one computer will not automatically show up on the other--you will need to transfer them yourself (burn a CD, copy files, etc.)

Using one library for multiple computers and accounts (not store accounts)

Okay, we currently have four macs in the house. One was recently bought: i7 iMac (late 2009), another is dying: (mid 2005 iMac), another is going somewhere else: (late 2006 iMac) and another is a laptop: C2D MBP (late 2008). We might add another computer into the mix some time later.
Anyway, what I want to do is have one iTunes library which all of the computers can access (even guest's/friend's computers). We have a Time Capsule, and as I have heard one can make the TC the HDD for the iTunes library, I thought it best for it to be there.
The only thing is, how can each computer (and the possible multiple accounts) each access the same library, without duplicating and messing anything up? Is that possible? If it is too hard for multiple computers to do this, I would still want the (late 2009) iMac to be able to use the same library for the two accounts on it.

Make sure everything you want to share is on the centralized drive (music, video, and books, but if any of you have mobile devices, keep the apps on your local drive). Mount the drive on your computer. (Remember, from now on you must do this before starting iTunes.) If iTunes isn't running, start it now.
At the moment iTunes thinks the library is on the local computer and has all the music on it so that has to be changed. Click on Music in the left window pane, select all, and delete. This deletes all the music from the library and, if you choose, from the computer too. (Until you are sure this set-up is to your liking, don't delete the music from the drive.) Now go to Preferences and select the Advanced tab. Set iTunes to look at the music folder on your shared drive. And finally, select File>Add to Library to repopulate your iTunes library. This could take a while if you have a large music collection.
Since you changed the music location, anything that is added to one person's library will be saved onto the shared drive so it isn't too much of a hassle to manually add music. You'll have to rebuild playlists which is a minor hassle but it’s a one time deal.

PSE 10 one program for two computers

Hello; my question is, it possible to use my PSE 10 that is installed on my PC and use it on my laptop via a home network ? downloading the program onto my PC is not an option. I once had it installed I had to replace my drive thus using the two allowed installs by adobe. I contacted adobe about another licence, they were not much help, they only wanted to sell me another program. thanks for any info on this matter. Paolo

You can certainly install PSE on two computers. If you have used both your activations and you no longer have one of the computers to deactivate it so you can reinstall on a new one, you will need to contact activation support:

Using one controller for two Soft Synths

Does anyone know how to use one MIDI controller to play two soft synths? In particular, I would like to use the bottom half of the controller's range to play one instrument, and the top half to control another. Any suggestions?

Sounds easy enough. All you need to do is split your controller, and send each range of keys to a separate MIDI channel. Then, set each of the sounds you want to control to only receive MIDI from that channel and record enable both tracks.
I think there's a way to set this up in the environment too.

running Sun DSEE 6.3.1 on two servers, server 1 has name ds1.example.com, server 2 has name ds2.example.com. There is a round robin DNS record ds.example.com, which alternates between:
ds1.example.com
ds2.example.com
and
ds2.example.com
ds1.example.com
An LDAP client connects to one of the servers over SSL using the name ds.example.com. We want to generate a certificate using the name ds.example.com and use it on both directory servers.
If we generate a CSR using DSCC on server 1 and get back a signed certificate, the certificate can be installed correctly on server 1. However, if we use the same signed certificate on server 2 it fails with error:
Unable to find private key for this certificate.
Failed to add the certificate.
Error executing the operation. The error code is 11.
What is the correct way to generate one CSR, have it signed by a CA and then implement this signed certificate on multiple servers?

From one Directory Server (ds1) generate CSR with the name ds.example.com in the request. Once you get the signed cert import it into the same server you generated CSR with. Then from ds1.example.com :
scp -p <slapd install/instance path>/alias/* <account>@ds2.example.com:<slapd install/instance path>/alias/
to copy the contents of the alias path to the same location on the other Directory Server. Make sure file permissions are the same.

My son has ipod shuffle and has a separate itunes account, but before he got an ipad for his birthday, we set up itunes on my home computer, using my itunes account.
His account has lots of credit whereas mine now doesn't as we have to use my account to purchase his music!
We need to know if it's possible for him to purchase music from his itunes account either directly from his ipad or from my computer using his itunes a/c and ipod. A friend told him that he can't use his ipod on another account as it would wipe out his songs. Is this correct?

Using a WD external HD via Firewire 800 to backup my main computer with Time Machine. I use my 13" MacBook Pro while away from home for weeks, then putting it away when home. (Note: not networking between them.) I do want each computer to be identical so that when I leave with my MacBook, my programs and data are the same. I do have MobileMe at both locations. Can I update the MacBook before going back to it by disconnecting Time Machine from my iMac, connecting Time Machine to my MacBook Pro via Firewire 800 and restoring?

Yes. Just set-up separate user accounts on your PC, then setup iTunes in each account and sync as if it was on two separate PCs.

One Time Machine drive for two computers

Okay I know that I can use one drive for my macbook pro and my iMac. But, I am wanting to keep both my computer connected to the drive, without having to disconnect one and then hooking up to the other. Is there a way for both computer to recognize the drive and pull from it for backups. Can a usb switch solve this problem or is there software that will work. Also if there is a way to do this I know that i will have to off set the backup time so that both computers are not writing to it at the same time. Thanks in advance,

you can't have a drive directly plugged in into two computers at once. what you can do is keep it plugged into one computer, back up that computer directly and back up the other computer over network (wireless or ethernet). you don't need to worry about overlapping backup times. the OS will take care of it itself.

You can't. You can only sync with one library at a time. I is possible, though not recommended, to sync contacts with one computer and media with another. There is no way to sync contacts with more than one computer.
The best idea would be to sync it with your MacBook and the cloud, and sync Outlook on the PC with the cloud.
Since iCloud requires Windows 7, you would probably be best to sync contacts and calendars with Google or Yahoo.
