Using Oracle Portal in a Laptop

I have a stand-alone portal installation in my laptop. I would like to take the laptop elsewhere to demonstrate a portal I've created, but when I turn off the connection to the Internet I can't connect to the portal. Does anyone know a work around this problem?
I am using Oracle 8i (8.1.7.1.1) Enterprise Edition Database, Oracle 9iAS Portal (1.0.2.2.0) and Oracle 8i (8.1.7.1.1) Patch with Microsoft Internet Explorer as the web interface and Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system.

  • Can no longer connect to iProjects using Oracle Portal

From one day to the other, I can no longer connect to iProjects using Oracle Portal. It gives the message "Cannot connect to iprojects-files.oracle.com" because the username or password is incorrect. I can connect using the web interface though, using the same username and password. I type my username in uppercase and password in lowercase. Tried other combinations (upper and lower) as well, to no avail.
    Any Idea?

JEM24 , your suggestion is included in:
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

Sorry Mindi, also have your tried rebooting your router? That's all. Try that before you attempt to Restore. Cheers.

  • Planning on using Oracle Portal

I'm a web developer and our company is planning to use Oracle Portal. I am now doing my research as to what book should I be reading or online trainings that I ahould be attending. Please note that I have not tried any Oracle software yet. I dont have any knowledge about Oracle Technology. Given this scenario, Can I just go directly and study Portal or should I attend other Oracle Training first before doing so? What kind of training should I go into and what books would you recommend?
I hope to hear from any of you..

Oracle9iAS Portal Bible by R. Greenwald en J. Milbery (ISBN: 0-7645-4749-6) is a beginner's level Portal book.
You can download Portal from the website (it goes with 9iAS, iirc), but it's quite a big installation. You could also go to otn.oracle.com and in the left navigation bar, 3rd section, click 'Portal Studio'. Look around there, you can get a free login to a Portal installation and play with it.
    Hope that helps!

  • Export To Excel Using Oracle Portal Reports

I am exporting reports to Excel (sylk) using oracle 10g portal application. Example of export link is:
http://pens12345.xxxx.yyyy.zzz:1234/pls/portal/SCHEMAPTL.TEST_GR.SHOW?p_arg_names=ccc&p_arg_values=%25&p_arg_names=yy&p_arg_values=%25&p_arg_names=cd&p_arg_values=%25&p_arg_names=page_cnt&p_arg_values=10&p_arg_names=page_cnt2&p_arg_values=%25&p_arg_names=_show_header&p_arg_values=YES&p_arg_names=_max_rows&p_arg_values=65534&p_arg_names=_portal_max_rows&p_arg_values=65534&p_arg_names=_format_out&p_arg_values=EXCEL This will export the max rows for excel that are in page 10. During the export and in the dialog box that lets you know the file is being downloaded and exported, I am getting a row of symbols that look like boxes (it might be in binary format). My export works fine and I am able to view ALL the data in excel, but I wonder what those little boxes mean. Can anybody tell me what is causing this. It does not give the appearance of a clean export. Thanks in advance.

First, apply [SP1|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009351512008E/crbasic2008sp1.exe], see if that helps.

  • Using Oracle Portal as a platform ? (also Jakarta Jetspeed)

We have some major potential projects where we might use Portal as a platform, by platform I mean we probably want the ability to change the behaviour and most likely the GUI of Portal itself.
What I've understood so far Portal seems to run completely as PL/SQL on the database side, We don't have any PL/SQL guru's and it's most likely that we want to change the portal GUI. I haven't been able to find any jsp pages or servlets yet, so
I now fear that the HTML layer also is on the database side as PL/SQL, is this true ?
Please tell me that it is possible to change/replace the GUI and behaviour of the portal without having to be an PL/SQL guru.
Myself I am a firm believer in application frameworks using
MVC-pattern but Portal seems to me to be in total violation of any good framework design models (For an example of a nice model see the Jakarta/Jetspeed project). Does Oracle plan to do anything about this in later releases ?
Does anyone else has any interesting thought on this topic ?

i mean don't advice me to use URLs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unable to use oracle portal 10.3.4

    Hi ,
I am new to Oracle and portal and i am learning the stuff on my local computer.
    1. I downloaded the the oracle package from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
    2. Then I created a very small application with portal Ear and portal web with Eclipse plugin
    3. Created a domain and a new server(Admin server)
    4. When I tried to run I got errors
weblogic.management.DeploymentException: [J2EE:160149]Error while processing library references.
Unresolved application library references, defined in weblogic-application.xml:
    [Extension-Name: beehive-controls-1.0.1-10.0, exact-match: false]...
    5. I manually hadded library references in weblogic-application xml file
    6. Then now I tried to start the server, I get the below error..
weblogic.application.ModuleException: Error reading descriptor: META-INF/communities-config.xml for app module null
Caused by: com.bea.xml.XmlException: failed to load java type corresponding to e=communities-config@http://www.bea.com/ns/portal/90/communities-config
Can you please let me know what am I doing wrong or how to resolve?
No help with Google..Thanks for your help
    Regards

My first thought is that your WLS domain doesn't have the WebLogic Portal entries in it. You can see if it does by looking for a config/jdbc/portalDataSource-jdbc.xml file in the domain folder; if it doesn't exist, your domain doesn't have WLP in it.
If it doesn't have WLP, when creating the domain with the Config Wizard, be sure to check the WebLogic Portal checkbox on the Select Domain Source page (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14246/createdomain.htm#i1076356). This configures the shared libraries, the system classpath, plus some required datasources.

  • Can Oracle Portal use IDM OID rather than portal OID

    Hi,
Is it possible to use OID of IDM during Oracle portal installation?
If we use the OID of IDM should we have to install the SSO component in the portal infra?
How does the process flow work when portal is integrated with IDM OID?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Jay.

<div>In order to use Oracle Portal, you will indeed need OiD. Not only does Oracle Portal use OiD for its users and groups, it also stores metadata for the application server.</div>
<div>Your question about synchronization of user and group information is not easily answered. Pending on your requirements there are lots of possible solutions. I'd recommend to check the OiD integration guide for possible solutions.</div>

  • ADF Application and Oracle Portal Login Page

We have developed ADF application and deployed it in Oracle AS 10.1.2 along with the custom JAAS module, which is working fine with the application custom login page. As a next page, I want to use Oracle Portal login page for the authentication and authorization.
How can I accomplished it? Any idea?
    Thanks,
    AP

    Shay,
    1. I created blank ADF project
    2. I copied myreport.jsp file (this one was generated by Oracle Report Builder) under ..ViewController/public_html directory
    3. Created directory 'lib' under ViewController/public_html/WEB-INF/lib
    4. Copied reports_tld.jar file under the directory created in 3.
    5. Created simple jspx page with the af:link (btw af:goLink does not exists in JDev 12c), set 'destination' to myreport.jsp
After the steps above I could not even compile the application, many problems too many to list here, Basically JDev is trying to build the project with .jsp file generated in Report Builder and is unable to.
So to be sure we are on the same page: I am trying to embed JSP report files generated by Report Builder into ADF project, then create EAR file and deploy on standalone WLS. Finally execute JSP web only report.

  • How to put links to E-Business suite pages in Oracle Portal

    Hi All,
I am looking to create an employee portal using Oracle Portal 11g. One of the requirements is to provide some summary information on, say benefits in the portal and provide a link to the detailed benefits page in e-business suite from there (portal is fully integrated with EBS in our case). Can someone with experience doing this put light on the following :
    1. What is the simplest way to provide the links ?
    2. Is there any way to make them migration proof ? for example : my link now points to the DEV environment and in the production, it should point to the PROD.
    Regards,
    Vinayaka

    Hi,
This question would probably be better addressed in the E-Business Suite forum at https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=3

  • How to put a pdf file in Oracle portal?

I want to put a pdf file in Oracle portal. But how I do it?

Are you using Oracle Portal, or Oracle WebCenter Portal?
In Oracle Portal, you can go to edit mode (use the link or add ?_mode=16 to the url) and create a file item.
In WebCenter Portal, you need to add the content to WebCenter Content (default content repository for WebCenter Portal) and use something like the content presenter to show the content on a page.
    Kind regards,
    Rob

  • Oracle Portal - Associated Procedures With Custom Item

    Dear Gurus,
I need to ask a question, when i have a custom Item built using Oracle Portal 10.1.4.2.0. and we have two procedures associated with this item. I need to display this item in some place with the first procedure and in another place with the second prcoedure.
What i want to explain is written as an example
Custom Item Type asscoiated with two different procedures (News Custom Item Type with two different procedures "brief procedure" and "detail procedure").
In one page i need to invoke the first procedure to display the item in Detail view and the second procedure to diplay the item in Brief view.
How can i invoke different procedures associated with this custom item type or how can i apply different procedures on custom item type to gain different views.
Please can help me or if you need a details i can presents more details.
    hint:
i know something in Oracle Portal called ("Associated procedures"). and we use "related funbctions" attribute when we need to invoke a procedure to render some Custom Item Type.
But i cannot do that and this question is very important
    Best Regards,

I've sorted this now - silly me, I'd left a <blank line> attribute in the display properties...

  • Oracle report 10g publsinng on web and Oracle Portal

I am converting a report that was using oracle OAS9i, we pass to URL(rdf file) userid/password and worked fine. We were not using Portal, even though it is installed by OAS. Now seems we have to use Oracle Portal to publish the same report. Is that right? If not how will I use report servlet to call a rdf file I assume I still need to send oracle user id/password as that is needed to run report(knowing this from old Oracle report 6.0). We really do not want to autheticate any user all users behind use the same Oracle account to print reports. Any hint?
Another thing I find that now reports are closely linked to Portal and looking at web publishing document it seems one needs to view them thru Portal. Please help me understand this why I can not just see the report as once they are processed they produce pdf that any borwser can show.

    Any one??

  • Oracle portal vs php

could you give me about comparation web development using oracle portal and php.
how about speed, security, flexibility ?
where i can find, site with oracle portal ?

I think that this kind of comparison is pretty much useless. It's a completely different environment. PHP is only a scripting language. Altough PHP is powerful, the Oracle 9iAS Portal is a completely different product. It features an RDBMS, Java language, an HTTP Server and various extensions.

  • Oracle Portal

Is Oracle Portal for Intranet Development only? Can you create a portlet and post it on your company web site for the access by external users?
We want to post a form on our company web site for the access by the public to get some data in. Can this be done by using Oracle Portal.

I have installed Oracle Portal from 9i Application Server CD. I chose HTTP only option for this installation and allowed the installation to do the configuration of the Portal.
After that I created a form and report portlet as a part of application. Then I created a page and was able to publish portlets on this page. I checked this page for public access which indicates that users can view this page without loging in the portal.
Now I am stuck, since I am not sure what URL user need to provide to access this page without loging in the portal? From Portal home page user have to login to access this portal, but that is not what we want. We would like to publish this page, so any external user will be able to view the page, enter and submit data back to us.
Can you provide details on how to publish Portal page for external users so they can view and enter data over the web?
