Using Order by in reports

hi
i have a query in my report which gets data ordered by accounting date
when i run the query in toad i get the data correctly ordered by date from older dates to new dates
when i run the same report from applications11i i get the data from new dates to old dates.i tried order by date ASC,and order by date DESC ,but there is no change is there any other syntax that will get my data ordered by old dates to new dates.

we use oracle reports 6i.
i cannot run the report from report developer as there are some SRW calls in the reports which can be run from only aplications.
in the property pallette of the report filed for date thre are is option of
'break by' and there are three options like ascending,descemding and none
i set that to none and gave the order by in the main query.
this query runs good in the toad with expected results,but the same query results
other output when i run it from applications 11i reports.

I am implementing the same solution, and after adding the lexical parameter reference in the SQL statement and calling the report from Oracle Forms the report failed with the following error on the report server:
Terminated with error: <br>REP-300: missing expression select wcsr_no , wcsr_date , wcsr_rec_week_zone , wcsr_loc_house_num || ' ' || wcsr_loc_pre_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_name || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_type || ' ' || wcsr_loc_post_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_unit || ' ' || wcsr_loc_city || ' ' || wcsr ==>
No change has been done to the SQL statement except adding the &p_orderby parameter at the end of the query.
Any suggestions? Are all parameters defined as "bind" parameters on the Repotr Object Navigator.?

Production Order qty in Report Painter

Can we get Production Order qty in Report Painter?
I have tried and used couple of Libaries but the values are not getting updated in report.
Can anybody please tell me which Library and Table combination to to get the result.

Prod order qty (Target / Plan / Actual) is available in KKO0 reports
To activate them:
a. OKN0: Assign a cost comp str here and choose Product Group = Material Group.. Transport this setting
b. Run KKRV every month after period end settlements are over...
c. Finally execute KKO0 reports
b and c you need to do every month... a is one time setting

'Move order pick slip report' Report not picking XML publisher Template.

SUB: i have to create one XML report on .RDF(move order pick slip report).
Submitting procedure move order pick slip report : i have created one Discrete Job and released that Job, then Component pick release for that particular job. then move order number will generates. then automatically fires the 'Move Order Pick Slip' Report.
NOTE: what i meant to say is i am not submitting the report from SRS window. it will fires automatically when Component pick release.
For this i have taken .xml and generated .rtf according to my layout and i have registered with XML publisher also.it is correct . But while running the report i am geting output as XML codes not in template(wht i have .rtf) format.
if i have to see the output in template from. (i have taken in conc program output as XML also) still same problem.
please help me if anybody having solutions.

Hi Valli,
1:The first thing i would suggest that please check the BI Publisher version you are using (on apps/and on template builder also).
2: In any case if your report is not picking up the template and generating the xml output , i suggest you to attach one program "XML Report Publisher" in your SRS.
Oncwe you run your report and its generate the xml output. you have to take the request id & from view ---> submit request--->XML Report Publisher. run this request again.
it will ask for the request id , select the appropriate request id and it will generate the pdf output as per your requirement.
But this is temporary solution , i strongly recommend you to check the updated version of BI Publisher and instaal it on your oracle apps instance. also use the updated version of bi publisher for Layout(Template Builder).

How to order / group a report by a placeholder column ?

How to order / group a report by a placeholder column populated by the group filter ?
In more detail .....
My Data model editor's select statement brings back (say 1000 rows) from the database.
The group filter decides (on performing certain validations) whether to print a row or not in the report.
Additionally the group filter calculates a "rule type" (just a rule number to say on basis of what rule, the row was selected)
I would like to order/group the report on the placeholder column which was calculated by the group filter ?
Obviously, I won't be able to add the "ORDER BY :CP_RULE_NUMBER" in the sql statement as the placeholer column cp_rule_number
is determined by the group filter level only. (If I do, I get a frequency error)
Any ideas ?

how is the group filter implemented?
If its pure PL/SQL, what about putting the filter-procedure in a stored function into the database? Then you could use the group filter in your query.

AWR files in oracle
If i don't then it is difficult to find the queries thata re related to my application as most of those are the sysqueries, i just need schema specific queries in the SQL ordered by Elapsed Time section. Perhaps you are using the wrong tool?
A system-level report like AWR or ADDM is no use to you as it seems your application code is not significant at the system level.
You might want to consider tracing the sessions from your application using client_id or module to identify sessions belonging to your application then possibly use TRCSESS and TKPROF.

Then open interactive report action menu and Select Columns.
Order your columns. And then again from action menu Save Report.
In select list select "As default report setting".

Optimal outline order for Hyperion Reporting

What is the best outline order for faster report retrieval ? I am not referring to optimal order for calculation which is modified hour glass.

hyperion Reporting (Financial Reporting)uses Report scripts to generate its data. The optimal report has dense dimensions as the columns and inner most row of data from the dense dimensions. if you have a common format of how the reports pull data having the outline ordered from the left most report row member to the right most member
So if you had the sparse dimensions of product market and customer and your report looks like customer, product market switching the order of the dimensions to match that could help report preformance (assuming you are drilling into each of these dimensions. I've also heard having your most commonly accessed sparse dimension last is better. And of course if you are using attribute dimensions in your report having the base dimension associated with the attribute dimensions last is recommended for better report retrieval (I don't know why)

hai this is purely for release of purchase order
we can controle the external documents like po at net order value , depending on the document type (po document type like domestic po, imports po) after setting the controles those controles we are giving to authorities ex manager can rel a po of value 1 lakh director can have the control upto 10 lakh and ceo may have the control of 25 lakh depending on the orgnisation size. Now if u want to release the document which is comes under control respective officers has to go that t code then they have to release the purchse order .

Work orders planned cost report

Hello
In our organization, works order can have two types of settlement receivers (cost centers or internal orders). To report planned cost by receivers, we create automatically groups of works orders (by receiver) and uses standard transaction S_ALR_*.
But it works only if settlement is not modified.
Does one of you know a better way to report those costs?

I don't want to report planned costs by maintenance objects but by receivers.
For exmaple: i have 2 work orders on the same receiver (cost center 1)
WO1 CC1 11/2011 500u20AC
WO2 CC1 11/2011 600u20AC
I try to report planned cost for CC1

the result is not accurate like this (kd_data not sorted desc):
I want the column "kd_data" sort descending because i use ORDER BY kd_data DESC in insert statement on the store procedure.
By the way, if i execute code like :
SELECT kd_data, nm_data FROM dtoth.tableA ORDER BY kd_data desc;
the result is correct like this
So, what solution for my code in the store procedure ?

to get the data sorted, you should order by in your select in the stored procedure
sorting while inserting does not guarenatee order..
remove the order by in insert statement and put that in the select statement
so, your procedure should be

CREATE procedure dtoth.report
AS

DELETE FROM dtoth.temp_tableA;
INSERT INTO dtoth.temp_tableA SELECT kd_data, nm_data FROM dtoth.tableA;

1. I have a report built in oracle report. Currently there is a Visual Basic program want to pass some parameter to this report. Can Visual Basic program pass the parameter to this oracel report?
2. Based on yr answer, do i have to installed the oracle report? or just copy and register the Rwsxa60.ocx (i'm using oracle report 6i) in the PC? So can i use this activeX control.
3. Is this activeX control similar to Crystal report object which can found in VB?
4. Is there an example/guide on how the Visual Basic pass the parameter to oracel form?
