Using -pack + -standalone switches with Weblogic ?

Hi,
Does anyone know as to whats the issue with using -pack + -standalone switches with Weblogic ? Its been mentioned in the documentation that its not advisable to use those in combination when we build and EAR. We have been doing this in our project for atleast a month now and have not come across any issue due to this.
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks,

  • How to integrate Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal

    Hi
I am following this documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1013214
to setup my development environment for developing portal applications, but I cannot set it up, my eclipse does not have PORTAL perspective.
I have downloaded the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5) and the Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3 as mentioned in the documentation.
The Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3 includes a workshop version of eclipse, but that is not based on a recent Eclipse, that is why I would like to use the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5).
It is weird int he Oracle Portal 10.3 installation that I cannot install the Weblogic Portal without the Workshop.
Could you help me in this? How can I integrate the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal?
    Thank you.

For WebLogic Portal tooling you have a couple of options. For WebLogic Portal 10.3 and older, Workshop for WebLogic will be your tooling environment.
Starting in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2, which released this year, the development tools have migrated to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. The WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 installer will install both the runtime and the IDE configured with additional WebLogic Portal Eclipse features (Portal Project Configuration, Perspecitives, Palettes, Deployment, etc).
If you are interest in the latest version, you can download from the WebLogic Portal OTN page - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/index.html

  • Using saaj 1.2 with weblogic 8.1

according to .This link, weblogic 8.1 implements SAAJ 1.1 version. How can i use SAAJ 1.2 with weblogic 8.1?
I removed webservices.jar from startweblogic.bat script. then i put saaj-api.jar and saaj-impl.jar (from JWSDP 1.4) in app server's classpath. Thirdly, i deployed an EJB that uses SAAJ 1.2 . However, I am getting following exception which shows that the bean is still using weblogic's implementation of SAAJ i.e. version 1.1.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: endpoint should be String or URL
    at weblogic.webservice.core.soap.SOAPConnectionImpl.call(SOAPConnectionImpl.java:43)[b]
how can i get rid of this and use SOAPConnection from saaj-impl.jar library????

    Hi,
just run the SetEnv.cmd and check in classpath,it might still have the webservice.jar.
    Probably remove it from setEnv.cmd.

  • A Tip for using EJB 3.0 with WebLogic Ant Tasks

I started out writing this up as a problem, but then I found the answer so I'm, posting a tip instead.
When I tried to write an EJB [stateless] using EJB 3.0 in my legacy Weblogic ear project I started getting this error:
    <pre>
No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'test'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
    </pre>
This is why: wlcompile will put the class files in the App-Inf/classes directory unless it finds an ejb-jar.xml file in the META-INF directory for the module it is working on. With EJB 3.0, I wasn't using an ejb-jar.xml file because it was unnecessary. Later, Appc runs and it complains <b>because there are no classes module directory, they went into the shared ear folder instead.</b>
Here's I how it working again: Use javac [not wlcompile] to compile the EJB 3.0 module and make sure that the class files go into the correct module directory. Then you can use wlappc to generate all the associated files for the EJB. I have sucessfully deployed an ear file that uses both EJB 2.x and EJB 3.0 with this approach.
I wish Weblogic's own ejb3.0 sample application used their split directory deployment.
    Good Luck.
    John Aronson

    Hi John,
I am working on development an enterprise application using EJB 3.0 on Weblogic 10.
While developing, I am keeping all my classes (from ejb's as well as web) into APP-INF/classes directory. It is working fine for Web and ejb 2.0 packages, but ejb 3.0 packages, I get the following error when I keep my ejb 3.0 beans classes in APP-INF/classes directory.
No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'customer'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
One solution is to keep the classes under customer ejb directory, but I wan tto keep all the classes in APP-INF/classes directory so that when using Eclipse IDE I can output all compiled sources into APP-INF/classes directory.
Has anyone faced this situation? Any suggestions to fix this issue?

  • Using Catalyst 3550 Switch with Linksys Home Router and Cable Internet

I've about pulled what little hair I have out of my head on this one, and need some configuration help.
I have a Cisco Catalyst 3550 switch with five Windows 7 desktops, an Avaya PBX and five Avaya IP phones attached.  All of these devices are on a 192.168.0.0/24 subnet, and are communicating properly.  I will refer to this as network # 1. I also have SEPARATE network, we'll call network # 2, using AT&T ADSL service and a Netgear 4-port/wireless router/ADSL modem combo device, which is functioning properly with a couple of other Windows 7 desktops over its own wired Ethernet network, using DHCP, and also on a 192.168.0.0/24 subnet.  I thought it would be a simple integration, just plugging one of the 3550's ports to one of the DSL router's ports, in order to give the five Windows 7 desktop computers on network # 1 internet access via the DSL modem. Guess I was wrong.  When I connect the two switches together, although I get a good connectivity (green lights on both ports) and am able to ping the DSL router's gateway address (192.168.0.252) from network # 1's computers, the computers on network # 1 cannot access the internet. Also, the working computers on network # 2 lose their internet access as long as the two switches are connected together. I am not a Cisco guru, but there's got to be a way to make this scenario work.  Can someone provide me with a 3550 configuration that will allow me to extend my internet service from network # 2 on the DSL router to my 3550 switch and their computers?  Here's what I am looking for:
INTERNET ---> ADSL MODEM ---> NETGEAR ROUTER ---> CISCO 3550 SWITCH ---> NETWORK DEVICES WITH INTERNET ACCESS

The Netgear router is probably what's doing the natting. Is the 3550 configured for routing or is it straight L2? If you have the 3550 configured as L3, then it's going to be easy to do what you want. Just add a static route on the Netgear to point the subnet that it doesn't know about to the 3550. For example, if the Netgear is addressed at 192.168.1.1 and the Cisco 3550 is addressed at 192.168.1.2, but it also knows about the 192.168.0.0/24 (separate vlan), then you would put a static route on your Netgear for 192.168.0.0/24 to go to 192.168.1.2.
The way that I would do it is to create a separate vlan on the 3550 and assign an address to it. Once you do that, make the port that the other switch connects to an access port of that vlan. (It would need to be on the same subnet as the existing equipment.) All of your devices would use it as a default gateway and then you would do the rest as above. You could also use RIP between the Netgear and Cisco if you can't do static routing.
    HTH,
    John

  • Using Oracle8 JDBC Drivers with WebLogic 5.1

We are currently using the BEA WebLogic 5.1 application server and Oracle 8.0.4. We are using the JDBC OCI driver that came out-of-the-box with the WebLogic software. However, we would like to use the driver developed by Oracle, instead.
Does the Oracle8 JDBC driver (both type 2 and type 4) interoperate with WebLogic 5.1? If not, what are the problems that prohibit them being used together?
    Thanks... Steve Bursch

Summarizing from previous threads on this forum (I have not run this configuration myself):
The main issue is that you will not be able to use Oracle-specific functionality from the Oracle driver.
This includes all types in oracle.sql, or any APIs on oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleXxxx classes, or JPublisher-generated wrappers for SQL Object Types, collections, or REFs.
Also, since Oracle does not support side-channel result sets, but requires explicit REF CURSOR out parameters from stored procedures/functions, you will not be able to return REF CURSORs to the client, from stored proedures or functions - the getCursor() API that is required is Oracle-specific and not part of JDBC.
As long as you limit yourself strictly to standard JDBC types, and do not require the return of result sets from the server, you should probably be fine.

If you mean you want to send video from another computer to the iMac display,
the answer is: NO WAY. iMacs have no video input; the mini-DVI is output-only.
If you want to send iMac video to a shared external monitor, it might work -- if
you can find a KVM switch for a USB keyboard & mouse.

  • How to use a KVM switch with a Pavillion 23

I have a Pavillion 23, and it has no VGA port, but it does have a USB port.
I have another machine that is not an all in one pc, and I was hoping to use a KVM switch to use the Pavillion 23's video monitor capabilites, and just toggle between it and my other machine. I have a USB to VGA converter. Can this work? Will this create some sort of infinate loop? I have a sneaking suspicion that I need a 2nd usb to VGA converter. Am I right?

    Hi,
This will be the out port, not in port therefore you can't use the 23" monitor.

  • How do I use jdk 1.4 with weblogic 6.1?

Want to use jdk 1.4 features(logging and regular expression) in a weblogic
application I am developing. How do I get weblogic 6.1 to run with jdk1.4

This is off topic but see the url below on edocs.
You will need to make sure that your classpath points to the 1.4 jdk. Changing
your $JAVA_HOME in the startup script is pretty much it.
When developing your application, make sure your classpath is set properly .For
example in the setExamplesSever.sh script you point to the 1.4 jdk.
FYI This is not yet a supported platform.

  • Use of KVM switch with an IMAC

Have a new IMAC and wanted to use my existing IOGEAR KVM switch. Normally, the two computers plug into the switch and from the switch to the computer. Since the computer and monitor are all one, is this still possible - or how do I use this with the IMAC?

You show that you are running Tiger. This is the Leopard forum.
I suggest reposting in the iMAC forum regardless. It is not a Leopard issue it is a hardware question.

  • Using Oracle thin driver with Weblogic 6.1

    hi all,
i am trying to create a ConnectionPool using WLS6.1 and Oracle 8.0.5.
Since i cannot use the weblogic driver (due to the old version of oracle that
    i have)
i am trying to use instead the oracle thin driver.
i configured my pool as follows:

when i try to assing the created pool to a server (using the 'Target' link),
    i always got this exception

    Hi Sree,
You have to place the classes11.zip file in the beginning of the classpath.i did it. my CLASSPATH is now

  • How to use on/off switch with the cover on?

Ive only just got my IPAD so it may well be me but why is the on/off switch 'under' the cover.  Surely, I dont have to take the cover off everytime I want to switch it on and off?  Or should I not switch it on and off and just use the cover to put in 'standby' mode?

Unless you will not be using the iPad for a long time, you do not need to switch it OFF, just use the magic cover to put it to sleep (standby).
BTW, the ON/OFF switch is at the top, not the Home button at front.

  • How is ATG-Data utilized with weblogic compared to Jboss?

    Greetings,
I have expertise with ATG on Jboss and am new to WebLogic. So far so good but I have a few questions that I have not been able to answer on my own.
How does WebLogic handle ATG-Data? I have set the server start options within config.xml for each instance - the java options for module list, server name, atg data directory location and memory requirements as I normally do with the run.conf for jboss. However, nothing gets populated in the ATG-Data directory when starting up the servers. On set runassembler with standalone and liveconfig on as well. (understanding that i can use pack and standalone together with weblogic).
Any ideas what I could be missing?
    Thanks!
    -Kip

OK I got ATG-Data directory working as I was expecting. Seems CIM was my hindrance. I scrapped the managed servers that CIM created for me and recreated them from admin console and then redeployed the -standalone ears using nostage deployment plan.
With this I now get ATG-Data directory where I wanted it: /opt/Oracle/ATG-Data/servers/store-a/localconfig (last entry for config layer in the store-a.out log)
This ATG-Data directory is configured in the domains config.xml for server-start arguments under the managed server group.
    -Xms1280m -Xmx1280m -Xmn256m -XX:PermSize=512m -Datg.dynamo.data-dir=/opt/Oracle/ATG-Data -Datg.dynamo.server.name=store-a
    This is progress!
However, the module list shows all modules that were applied during runassembler for that atg server in the log - I am unable to override the module startup list with -Datg.dynamo.modules= within server start arguments.
The reason I want to override the list is because I prefer to use the same ATGProduction ear for lock manager and procedit servers without requirement them to load all the modules that were assembled in the ear.
I appreciate any tips or suggestions for best practices!
    Thanks!
