Using Photoshop CC on Macbook Pro retina

Hi, I am a web designer and I am trying to find a way forward in using Photoshop CC on my Macbook Pro (late 2013).  I have found posts that say you can open photoshop CS6 in "Low Resolution" however I cannot find the same option in Photoshop CC.  Zooming my design comps by 200% surely is not the answer.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give.
- Michael

Exactly! Thank you dxjoel.
I'm having the same problem... I've been combing the web for a solution and nothing in site. I'm on MacBookPro Retina 15" running CS6 13.0.6.
Why can't Adobe PS render at same size as every other program? As a designer, 'lo-res mode' is not an option.
I'm attaching a screenshot of he SAME 480x480 IMAGE in photoshop, chrome and safari.
Can you imagine, as a web designer, how it's hard to work like this? There is no longer the 1:1 ratio that I get from CS6 on my iMac or PC.
Here's a screenshot of the SAME IMAGE on CS6 (at 200%) and Chrome (at 100%)... Pretty close!, but upon close examination, there's pixelation in CS6 side that's not there in the actual image. So, not comfortable with that workflow. I have relied on Photoshop as a pixel-perfect product for ~20yrs... now I can't use it on this machine.
I mean, even when I go to Help > Update ... the PS program's dialogue text is pixelated! Something is very 'off' here. Is this issue fixed in the CC version?
Need some answers, or it's time to look for new options.
Thanks!
David

  • Can i use iWeb on my Macbook pro Retina?

    Hi guys
Is it possible to download iWeb, and use it on my Macbook pro Retina from 2013?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Of course, but note that iWeb will look blurry on your display because it's not ready for the Retina display. To install iWeb, you have to buy iLife '09 or '11 in Amazon or eBay, and then, install iWeb performing a custom install. As iLife comes in a DVD, you have to buy an external optical drive or, if you have another Mac or PC, you can use Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5287

  • Using FCP 7 with Macbook Pro Retina Display?

    Hi there
I am one of the many editor that won't be moving to FCPX and sticking with FCP 7 for the time being.
My question is has anyone used FCP 7 with the new Retina Macbook Pros ?
I'm basically looking to see it FCP 7 is useable on the retina display to help me to decide to buy one or not....My current Macbook Pro is nearly 4 years old and crying for an update but there a few concerns with the new model
    1. Screen resolution is actually lower running FCP 7 and other software that isn't optimised for retina display?
    2. No Firewire ports
    3. No audio input
    Any help really appreciated

FCP 7 is no longer in apples update lists so there is a chance that it has issues with the newer hardware (thunderbolt). I would guess there must be a firewire 800 PCIe card that could be used via a thunderbolt doc but how fcp is going to behave with it remains to be seen. Also FCP should not be able to take advantage of the retina display for the reason above.
Of course someone with such a macbook pro and fcp could always jump in this thread and clarify matters for all.
    Good luck

  • Using magic trackpad affect macbook pro retina's battery life?

Hi, I just got new macbook pro 15 with retina. I was not sure how much it affects on macbook's battery while using the Magic Trackpad or Magic mouse. If it affects indeed then how much...thanks...

You are using Bluetooth if you have got a Magic Trackpad, so it affects the battery. However, it's not a big difference respecting to using the built-in trackpad or a USB mouse, so I wouldn't worry

  • Fuzzy edges and display of font, graphics and pics using Elements 12 on Macbook Pro retina 13"

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 13" retina display. The edges and display of font, graphics and pics in Elements12 are fuzzy. They werent like that on my old macbook that didnt have retina display.

Neither Photoshop Elements nor Premiere Elements support the retina display capabilities. There are a couple of feature requests for support to be added to Photoshop Elements but I don't find any for Premiere elements. You might care to open one at http://feedback.photoshop.com.
Here are the PSE one I found:

  • Using lower resolutions on MacBook Pro Retina a good Idea?

Ever since I got my MBP retina I have been having eye strain issues to the point of basically almost returning the unit. I recently discovered that by using the lower resolutions (1280x800) (1024x640) I am having a much easier time and my eyes relax quite a bit more. My questions is does this have any negative effect on performance? I understand I sacrifice space but I just struggle with the native (1440x900). Or perhaps a none retina display would be the option. I just sold my mid 2009 macbook pro and now regret it.

No the performance would, if anything, improve if you use a lower resolution. Although I can't seem to understand how the retina MBP would give you more eyestrain at 1440x900 than your old 2009 MBP at the same resolution? If the problem is the pixel density then it wouldn't matter if you run the screen at native 1440x900 or 1280x800. You would still have the same amount of pixels running (2880x1800).
Well my answer to your question is; no the performance will not be affected.

  • What controller do I use with my 15" Macbook Pro Retina to play games like the Lego Star Wars series?

I have a bright and shining new 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display. I did not upgrade the processor or the storage. I want to play games on this great computer, too, games that need a controller . . ie . . The Lego Star Wars series and other action games that require a controller like I use on my X Box 360.
    What works? What works best?

It would help to post this in a more proper form. This is for the iTunes family of stores.

  • Photoshop cc on macbook pro retina display?

Is there a way to disable the native retina view in Photoshop CC? At the moment I can't use Photoshop at all because I can simply not see what I am doing in that tiny document view. I want to see my documents/images in the same size as I see them else where and in other adobe programs (illustrator, flash etc). This is seriously very enoying.
How are you thinking regarding this?

PS does not like two dissimilar gpu's.  Try disabling the Intel the check the gpu setting in preferences/performance.

  • Installing Photoshop C6C on MacBook Pro Retina

Hi, I have been trying to install Photoshop C6C on OSX Mountain lion for days now. 5 support calls lately but no help. Most consultants just take the call then go offline. Others come up with ridiculous suggestions. Given I have spent $1k on software for no benefit, is it possible to pay someone from Abobe to install it so that it works? I assume it is all a question of money?

have you seen error(s)?  if so, start by troubleshooting the install logs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html

  • "Some Updates Failed to Install" when trying to update PhotoShop CS5 on MacBook Pro Retina laptop

Is there a way to make the update install?

I too am having the same problem. How is this question not answered? Why is there no explanation for why there was an error downloading the update? MAJOR PROBLEM.

  • Photoshop CS6 a little 'jerky' when moving layers & resizing window (Macbook Pro Retina 650m)

As title says, when I open Photoshop CS6 and simple make a new layer and either use the type tool, it appears to be a little Sluggish/Jerky when moving the layer around.. The same applies when resizing photoshop itself.
I'm updated to the latest version of CS6 and have tried all the combinations in the 'Performance' section of Photoshop.
My Macbook Pro Retina is the 3.4ghz 650m and 8GB RAM offering (OS Mavericks). It's really annoying me as even my old laptop could run it smoothly and that was an i5 and much lower-end graphics card.
The only way I can really describe it (and i'm no tech professional) is when comparing it to silky smooth 60 fps, it looks like it's skipping frames and in term looking 'jerky'. I also use Illustrator and don't really witness the same problem with it.
I know this may have been asked quite a bit.. But I've never found the solution.. Could anybody advise me on what it potentially could be down too? (Might I add the laptop has just had a fresh install of the OS and a fresh copy of CS6)

You could check through the GPU FAQ for anything you might have missed
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html
You say you have tried all settings in Performance, but I wonder what your  cache levels are set at?  If more than 1, then OK.
There's the general performance FAQ (no doubt lots of overlap)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/optimize-performance-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
Is this with all image docs, or particular ones?  For instance I have been playing with using ACR to process 32bit HDR files, and it puts a huge load on the system.

  • IPhone 6 Plus 64GB (iOS 8.1 or 8.1.1) springboard crashes repeatedly when making phone calls via Continuity on Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 using Yosemite 10.10.1

I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems.  Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call.  Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1.  I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not.  I'm hoping Apple notices this post.  If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well.  Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.

I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists.

I've been using a late 2013 Macbook pro Retina, In "About this mac" + "More info" I can not see Model Year anything but I can see all the info like Serial number etc

i saw it on my friend's macbook air. She got the logic board replacement and then it was just gone. But it is not confirm that this was the actual reason. wait for other repliers to come. Maybe an expert can tell you.
