Using Safari 1.2 with OSX 10.3.9: how to upgrade to Safari 1.3.1 + 1.3.2?

I'm using Safari 1.2 with my OSX 10.3.9. I want to upgrade to the latest/best version of Safari that can run with 10.3.9. I see (and have downloaded) the updates 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 for Safari on the Apple Download page, but I can't install 1.3.1 yet because it says it "is not compatible" with what I already have.
I have a feeling there is a Safari 1.3 update out there that I need to download first, but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere on the Apple site.
My questions:
What is the most up-to-date version of Safari for 10.3.9?
If I'm using Safari 1.2 currently, what steps to I go through to get to the latest version?
And most importantly: Where do I download these versions? (Link or URL please).
Thanks!

Safari 1.3 is available as part of the Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update. Your best bet at this stage is to download and reapply the 10.3.9 Combo Update. That should get you started. The latest Safari version for Panther is 1.3.2.

I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have just bought Apple iLife 11 on dvd so that I can install iWeb and iDVD, as macs no longer ship with these apps. When I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate.
Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?

Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

  • So I just bought a used MacBook from Amazon with OSX 10.5.8.  I am trying to install new software and operating system, but I don't have the passwords to the Users set up in the computer.  What do I do?

So I just bought a used MacBook from Amazon with OSX 10.5.8.  I am trying to install new software and operating system, but I don't have the passwords to the Users set up in the computer.  What do I do?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

Using a Macbook 2008 with Lion, 10.7.5, how can I project photos/keynote presentation on my smart tv? It is connected to tv with mini-dvi/hdmi cable, but I don't know how to display the images. Thanks!

Did you switch the TV's input to the HDMI port you are using with the computer? Did you open Displays preferences to see if a second screen is displayed and then check the box to mirror to the TV screen? Did you search Google for any help links on how to do what you are trying to do?

  • Using Power Book G4 with OSX 10.5.8 okay from virus attack?

Is my Mac Powerbook G$ with OSX 10.5.8 safe from virus attack or do I need to protect Safar?

It is very important to speak precisely about these matters to avoid jumping to unfounded conclusions that lead to erroneous reactions. You said "virus attack" which is a mischaracterization of the problem. It was a vulnerability, only the potential for a man-in-the-middle attack which has absolutely nothing to do with viruses.
For your Mac to be attacked, it would have to be attempting an SSL connection with Safari or other related frameworks, and there would have to be another user on the same wifi network as yourself intercepting the transmissions and skilled enough in network coding to implement a man-in-the-middle attack. So users on school and public wifi networks using Safari were vulnerable, but home users on their own password-protected networks or Chrome/Firefox users were not particularly vulnerable.
From the articles on Mac sites that I read, which described all of the above, it was also said that only Mavericks was vulnerable. However, there were other security updates issued for Mountain Lion and Lion to address other issues.
10.5.8 along with 10.6 are no longer supported due to age and no longer receive security updates.

  • TS3230 Why aren't Google and Yahoo loading in Safari with Maverics?  After several failed attempts, a "wireless diagnostics" zipped folder appeared on my desktop.  I'm using a macbook pro with OSX 10.9.2

I updated to Maverics and now yahoo and google do not load in Safari - i get a "connot connect to server" warning.  other websites load just fine.
Also, after several attempts to access the aforementioned sites, a zipped file/folder appeared on my desktop titled "WirelessDiagnostics"
What in the world is going on here?  I attached a screenshot of the zip file.

Double-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    www.google.com
    Launch the Network Utility application.
    Step 1
Select the Lookup tab and paste into the address field (command-V). Press return. Post the output that appears below – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Select the Ping tab and do the same. Please enter the same input as you did in Step 1. Don't use the output of Step 1 as input to Step 2.
    Important Note
Some web browsers and mail clients will automatically convert a domain name such as "www.example.com" to a clickable URL, such as http://www.example.com. That will interfere with the test. If necessary, edit the input in the Network Utility window to remove any added characters.

  • Why is my Mac using so much RAM with OSX 10.9?

    Hey, everyone!
I have a mid-2010 Mac Pro with 6 GB's of RAM. Before I upgraded to Mavericks, I would have about 3-4 gigs FREE. Now, I only have one or less.
To give you an idea of what I run on my mac: ProTools 10, Adobe Premiere CS6, FCP X, Photoshop CS6 and a web browser (Can be Chrome/ Safari/ Firefox).
Is this a known issue or is something wrong with my computer?
    Thanks for the help

  • Can I use my external hdd with OSX server

Hi i am thinking about using OSX server, but I dont have very much space on the computer I would b running it of of so I would store everything on my 4TB Wd external HDD. Is this posible, and how would I set it up to do that? Also, my external also has some backups from other computers on it and will I loose any of that? I would probably partition it so that 1TB of it has all the servers files and everything.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Yep you can use any connected drive for server storage, its under the settings tab called Service Data
No you wouldn't lose anything on the drive (assuming its Mac formatted) but clean partition would be a good idea

  • After upgrading to 9.0.1, I now have space at the top of my screen -- whole page used to be filled, with tabs at top. How to get back to how it was before.

My screen saver shows for a few inches in back of the on-line application I'm in now, after upgrading to 9.0.1. How do I get its appearance back to how it was before? My tabs are at the top, which they were before. But this 2 inch space at the top is distracting.

Check that that space is coming from a toolbar that doesn't display properly.

I cannot open my comcast.net email accounts. I can see the Inbox Preview page but I can open, send a new email, etc.. It started Monday evening November 11, 2011. It happened a couple of times a few weeks ago then resolved.

Download and install the 10.6.8 Combo Update over your current installation of 10.6.8.It should repair whatever is corrupted. The Mac App Store does not belong in the Utilities folder, Mac OS X expects it to be in the Apps folder where it is installed..
