  • Using a mac with Parallels Desktop for Mac License

    Hi!
Is it really possible to use Parallels Desktop for Mac Licence that allows us to program and test apps and use all apps of windows in a mac?
    Thanks.

For details on Parallels capabilities you'll need to check with its authors, but in general you can run Visual Studio and write and test Windows Store apps on Windows 8.1 running in parallels

When I go to type '@' when in WindowsXP (using Parallels Desktop for Mac) the symbol ' " ' appears; I have to type ' " ' to achieve the ' @ ' symbols. Can anyone help?

Try switching the keyboard layout in XP to other countries. Maybe US from UK.

  • Parallels Desktop for Mac

I am purchasing a new Mac-Mini and want to run Parallels Desktop for Mac. I previously was using Virual PC for the Mac. Does anyone know whether I can use the windows professional onthe Virual disk to load windows in the Parallel program?

The short answer is technically yes, but not easily (depending on your threshold of "easily") and more headache than it may be worth. Check out the following threads (one from the Parallels support forums, the other from elsewhere in Apple Discussions that offer input and a solution. For the steps in the post in Apple Discussions you do need a copy of Windows running somewhere for this to work.

Also - although doing this is technically possible, I'm not sure you wouldn't be in violation of the Virtual PC EULA in doing so.

Yes it will work. The iPad Air 2 is the latest and most up to date iPad and you can sync it with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

  • Using Parallels Desktop for Mac

I have a Mac 10.5.8. I also am running Leopard. I want to be able to run Windows XP. I'm scared of getting a virus using Windows. So my question is this. Can I partition off space on my Mac, using Windows with Parallel 5? So if i get a virus that I can't get rid of, I can just rid myself of the partition. Is this possible?
    Thank You!

Windows viruses will affect Windows, not the Mac. Parallels creates a pseudo-disk by creating a sparsebundle disc image. The disc image is independent of OS X in the sense that a virus infecting the Windows system on the disc image cannot migrate to the Mac anymore than it could if you had a separate PC.
That said you can use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition on your hard drive then install Windows on that partition. You can then create a Parallels virtual machine that uses the Windows installation on the Boot Camp partition.
For clarification 10.5.8 is a version of Leopard, not a Mac model.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 activation issue on MAC running Parallels Desktop for Windows 7

I have a MacBook Pro laptop running both OSX and Windows 7 (using Parallels Desktop). I installed the MAC version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 when I booted in the MAC OSX mode. I also Installed Adobe Photoshop 10 in the Windows 7 mode (running as a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop). Both programs indicate that they are activated. If I boot the computer in the Windows 7 mode (not using Parallels Desktop) and start the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 program it indicates that it is NOT activated and that I "already have two copies activated".
Question: Since I only actually have two copies activated how do I get the program activated for the Windows 7 boot operating mode?
    Thanks in advance.

  • VMWare Fusion vs. Parallels Desktop for Mac + Captivate?

I'm likely to purchase a new MacBook Pro in the very near future, and wish to run Captivate on it. I've seen a few posts in this forum by folks using VMWare Fusion with mixed results. The posts are a couple of years old, so I'm curious to get the latest thoughts.
    1. Which software -- VMW or Parallels -- would you recommend to run Captivate, and why?
    2. Which version of Windows should I purchase?
    3. What configuration do you recommend for the Mac: RAM, processor speed, hard drive speed (7200 vs 5400 rpm)?
    Thanks.

    HI,
I use VMWare Fusion on a souped up PC platform. I had been away from the MAC platform for over 10 years and had to allow myself time to get used to the new MAC OS interface. I found that switching between VMWare Fusion and the MAC OS was straightforward - after I got used to things. Since I don't want to invest in a new Adobe Technical Suite and a new Adobe CS4 Master Collection, I use VMWare Fusion on a daily basis.
I would much rather run everything on a real MAC, but since that alternative is not economic (nor are all features available) I am happy to run the MAC OS with my graphics card, and still have the full benefits of the graphics card when I'm running Photoshop and Illustrator from VMWare Fusion.

  • Problem with parallels desktop.....

hi. im not sure if this has been said or answered before but i have installed the trial version of parallels desktop for mac. i don't really know how to use it and i just really wanted to see what it does. unfortunately....i dont need it. but, now i have tried uninstalling it by dragging it to the trash and it said i dont have sufficient permissions or something like that. i did disk utility to try to correct permissions or what not.
how can i uninstall this program?? it is a 15 day trial....do i wait the 15 days for it it expire then try to remove it or try reinstalling the program??
thanks for the help in advance! : )
    -mark-

If you'd like to skip the manual, just open the disk image that you downloaded (.dmg) and then run the uninstall program. If you deleted the dmg file, just download it again.
You should reboot once you uninstall it to remove the network adapter.

    Utter nonsense.

Just use the defaults. Windows 7 is very slow and really RAM-hungry. You will need 8 GB of RAM on your Mac because Windows 7 needs 2 GB all by itself. Even with that, it runs twice as slow as Windows XP.
If you've already spent money, there isn't much you can do at this point. I suggest using Apple Pages and, when you are ready to submit something to your professor, export it as a Word document and then re-save that Word document as a Word XML doc. I don't know why Pages doesn't export in docx format. It is built into the operating system. I even have a little utility that will save your clipboard directly to docx. You can download a fully-functional demo from: http://www.etresoft.com/pastefiler
There are many other utilities that can do the same, including Office 2011 itself. I prefer Pages because it supports modern OS X technologies and is much faster and easier to use than Word, but Pages only exports to DOC, not DOCX. Word is better if you are doing really sophisticated document, but it costs a fair amount money.

Are there any known issues upgrading to 10.8.3 from 10.7.5 with Parallels Desktop already installed in 10.7.5?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Most of the applications compatible with Lion are also compatible with Mountain Lion, so you shouldn't have any problem. Mountain Lion supports the latest update for Parallels 7 and 8, so if you haven't got one of these versions, you should upgrade it before upgrading Mac OS X. That application uses extensions, so it may cause kernel panics

  • MS Remote Desktop for Mac (v8.0.9 - 8.0.12): issue with "Session (ID #) remote control failed."

    Hello,
I'm a SysAdmin for a small-med business in CO. We use a cluster of 3 RDS servers that are load-balanced with round-robin DNS and an RD Gateway. When I remote in from a PC, all works as expected. However, when I remote in from my MacPro (my main machine at home)
and try to remote control a user's session, I get this error:
Note the ID number is unique to the user's RDP session, so will vary each time.
This is 100% a bug in the "Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac" program; I am positive of it at this point.
Does anyone from MS actually monitor these threads at all, or am I wasting my time? Thanks...

    Hi,
As this happens with him specific from MRD MAC check whether he is taking RDP with IP address or hostname. Also try to uncheck the Option "Bypass RD Gateway for local address" under RDSH configuration and verify the result.
Also for more detail he can collect log from MAC side by following path.

    Hope it helps!
