Using time capsule model A1409 and trying to use it as only backup. Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule. And also it is asking for password. Have tried all of mine and it will not work.

And also it is asking for password for the server John Garland's Time Capsule so Time machine can access it..
Have tried all of passwords can think of and none work.
Held the reset button for one second on back of capsule and do not see if anything happened.
What a conundrum.

I have a 2TB Timecapsule and really only use it for Time Machine backups. But the Wi-Fi side is used to sync my iPad at times.
Mine is wiredup thus;
Eth cable from iMac to modem (not the WAN port should you have one), then eth cable from modem to T/Cap in the WAN port (bottom port with an O sign above it)
I believe when its connected up you may have to set up a wireless network. Follow the instructions to set up Wi-Fi and Network
and then give it a password. The WiFi icon should appear in the menu bar where you can switch it on or off.
Its been sometime since I set it with the help of Apple Techs so I might be a bit rusty.

nm-applet keeps asking me for a password for my wireless network even though I followed the instructions on the NetworkManger page on the Arch wiki. The message in the password dialogue is as follows:
The application 'nm-applet' (/usr/bin/nm-applet) wants access to the default keyring, but it is locked
Which I thought was strange because I don't have a keyring called default. It does not ask me if I want the password to be unlocked automatically like the wiki says.

Mail.app still asks for passwords, i tried everything !
each time I launch mail, it asks me for my passwords (3 for pop accounts + 1 for smtp). I tried to delete the preferences, I tried to delete the accounts and re-create them, I tried "SOS trousseau d'acces", I put the file login.keychain on the desktop, system.keychain too, I tried disk utilility to repair the authorizations, I reboot each time, NO WAY, it drives me crazy ! it looks like every change has no effect on the "trousseau d'acces".
You might try deleting the file located at:
/Users/cynthiabartz/Library/Mail/[email protected]/Deleted%20Messages.mbox/Messages/29051.emlx
If the quicklook daemon is crashing on it, Mail might be too. -

All purchases are associated to the ID that was used to download/purchase it. There is no way around it, it is due to copyright DMCA laws. You will have to login in with her ID or delete it and re download it with yours. Sorry.

IOS6 asking for Password for Apps
Hi Everyone,
I got my iPhone 5 recently and synced with two of my Apple ID to download the apps I need. Some apps were purchased on my 1st AppleID, and some apps were purchased on my 2nd AppleID.
At the moment I have apps from both ID in my iPhone5(iOS 6.0), but whenever I launch the Apps from 1st ID, it asks for password. If you cancel, the app just closes.
Now this is very annoying as I have some paid apps that are scattered across two different AppleID, and they are not exactly cheap to buy again:
1st ID: has two dictionaries $40, plus games $12,
2nd ID: has games $10 and different dictionaries $15
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Is this a new restriction that was put into iOS6? do we have to keep putting in passwords every time we use apps from our previous ID?The Apple policy is that you can deauthorize a Mac in the same way you authorized your new one, it is in the same iTunes app Store menu. But it must be in your physical possession to do so. Otherwise, if you have authorized five Macs, once a year Apple allows you to deauthorize all five at once, whether in your possession or not. But you cannot activate that process until there are a full five authorized Macs.
However, perhaps contacting iTunes Support they can assist you in deauthorizing a stolen Mac, outside the normal policy. In iTunes Support go to the Authorization section and you can email iTunes Support for assistance;

We are using Outlook 2011 for Mac on OS X Version 10.8.8. We have IMAP email service through BlueHost. Just about everyday, Outlook says that the BlueHost password is incorrect and asks if we would like to re-enter it. When this started, we would enter the password and ask that the password be saved in Keychain. But this question keeps popping up just about everyday. How do we get Outlook to keep this password permanently so we are not prompted for the password anymore?

Computer stopped asking for password all the sudden
Hi, i have my iMac 24 late 2006 model set up to ask for password upon waking up from sleep or screen saver, been working fine for the last 3 months but all the sudden today i noticed when i tapped the space bar the screen by passed the password request, how strange, anyone know what i can do about this?
I ran disk utilities, nothing changed
Restarted, nothing changed
Restarted with LEO OSX install DVD and disk utilities, nothing changed
checked the settings in security over and over, nothing changednew update solved the bug

I can't update my apps each time it asks for password when entered it goes straight back to update. I don't think I am alone in this. I have tried changing the date, rebooting, switching off and on signing out and nothing works. Does anyone know of a solution or will I have to take it to an apple shop. My misses has no trouble with her updates, they are both on iOS 6. Hope someone can help.

I use IMAC upstairs connected to the house wifi downstairs where the networked printer is. I have 'found' the network printer on my IMAC settings but when i send to print I am getting a pop-up box which has 'apple' as user name and is asking for password. I have tried my own IMAC password but to no avail. The printer also shows a pop-up box stating 'awaiting authentication.
Any help appreciatedYou are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it. -

A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
the Fusion virtual machine.If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it. -
When I select the Airport Express as Remote Speaker in Itunes I just see trying to connect and it can't connect.
I changed my password on the Airport and I don't see where I can put in the new password in Itunes.
This problem is on my Imac. On my Mac Pro a window came up asking for password to connect because it was the first time.
I can connect on the Mac Pro but not my Imac.Update on my problem connecting in Itunes with my Airport Express. Not sure if anything I tried made a difference
but I finally got the Pop up window saying this device requires a Password. I entered the password and I can once again use the Airport Express as a remote speaker. -

There are a couple things that you can try to resolve this issue. First, I would recommend processing any updates needed to the computer and iTunes. You can check for updates in iTunes by selecting the help menu and check for updates. If iTunes is on the current version, see the article below.
