V11.1.2.1 Sorting Data Form - Honor Hierarchy

Could someone please tell me how does Honor Hierarchy work?
I understand the user guide but it doesn't seem to be doing what it explains.
I am expecting the data sorting to be within each hierarchy, but it works across data anyways.

Honor Hierarchy: Sort within the hierarchy. If this option is not selected, sort works across data.
But as if I understand it correctly, it doesn't work. Would appreciate if someone can share some detailed reference around it.

Invalid data form - v11.1.2

Message reads, "The data form Budget Formulation Worksheet is invalid. Check log for details."
I've looked at a few threads that address this itopic, but none of the responses fix our issue. We're running v11.1.2.0. New app. No data loaded, yet. No user variables. Essbase has been refreshed. New data form. I've reduced every dimension to a single member (i.e., no iDescendants). Accounts in the rows, Periods in the columns, Year, Scenario, Version, Entity in the Page and a couple lof dims in POV.
We're in a tightly contolled environment with no access to the log files. Will have the IT boy fetch us the log files, but need to give him specific files names and locations. I found the path below:
UNIX: Oracle WebLogic Server:
MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/epmsystem1/diagnostics/logs/starter
Do we still request the HyS9Planning-syserr.log and HyS9Planning-sysout.log or are they only applicable to Windows?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi John,
Thanks for the post. The data form started working this afternoon. I reworked the form to leaf level for every dimension just to start fresh, even though I'm 99% sure I did this yesterday. Then worked my way up the dimensions, one by one, until I was at the top of the house.
Works like a champ. Why is it working today? I found out a coworker was loading data into the app. Up to this point the cube was empty. That must have been the key.

Using hidden dimensions on data form (Planning V11)

Hi,
I’m using EPM – Planning 11.1.1.2.0.
I’m building a data form. I’d like to use 5 dimensions in columns of my table. And I’d like to set hidden 2 of 5 these dimensions.
My trouble that Planning can show me this data form if hidden ONE dimension has been set LAST in order. In other variants I had an error (browser IE was crashed). If I set TWO hidden dimensions (has been set LAST in order) Planning shows me data form but when I try to enter data my browser was crashed again.
How can I build my form to use it (hidden dimensions in table columns) successfully? I can't found any limits to use hidden option for dimensions in columns in admin guides for EPM 11.
Have you such trouble too?

Sorting data in the form

Is there any other way to sort data in the form other than the order by block property? I have a form built off of a view. The view returns data quickly up until I add the order by clause. his happens in sqlplus as well as in the form.

Use drag and drop to sort data in report

I found a good description to sort data in a Tabular Form per drag and drop.

It works fine if one follow the hint from Baki (For apex 4.2 one have to adapt a css class).
Afterwards I tried the same with an Interactive Report. It nearly works.
I once again had to adapt a css class.
I used the
apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA
class instead of the
uReportStandard
in the JavaScript for the Interactive Report.
Everything went fine. Except the "Save the Thing to the DB" issiu did not work.
The following code do not work (the "APEX_APPLICATION.G_FROWID.COUNT" is allways 0):

Data Forms in Smart View - Add Members

We have data forms with Add Member functionality. When opening that data form using Smart View it puts red border around top member but then instead of allowing user to select a member it lists all of them in the rows. A good example is ICP data form where user can select partner to report balance. The data form online allows selection of individual partners but when same data form opened in Smart View it lists all 1,000+ ICP True entities.
Is syntax different when data form to be used with Smart View?
We have V11.1.1.3.

You have to suppress no data/zeros in SmartView and refresh the form to see the rows collapsed. I had created an enhancement request for this and it is currently under review by development. I would suggest you do the same if you'd like to see this fixed.

Hi evrybody, it makes me sick i need to get data form database and fill combobox in required order (last item added to database - last firstName) actualy i already did that, but i'm useing DefaultComboBoxModel and all records are sorted in alphabetical order. Thanks very much for any help

The items in the JComboBox are displayed in the order in which you add them to the combo box. Use an order by clause in your SQL statement.

Order Planning data form by column value

Hi,
i have a big problem for sort the dataform with the value of a column.
I need to sort the rows in the data form using the value of a column. Today you can do it with the right mouse option, but I need this on load of dataform.
With javascript is possibile? I do not know javascript, can someone describe the methods to be used or has a code example.

I've come across similar requirements in the past. The way I'd handle is to change the dimension structure slightly for it to cater for the requirement.
Your current structure must be like below:
+Activity 1
---Sub Activity 1.1
---Sub Activity 1.2
+Activity 2
---Sub Activity 2.1
---Sub Activity 2.2
What you might think of converting this to could be like below:
+Activity 1
---Activity 1.0
---Sub Activity 1.1
---Sub Activity 1.2
+Activity 2
---Activity 2.0
---Sub Activity 2.1
---Sub Activity 2.2
By this way as both activity and sub activity remains at level 0, you will not need to fiddle around the target version. Plus you can still rely on suppressing missing data if there is a requirement to hide sub activities in certain accounts but show only activities. Another advantage of this is that it allows inputting data to both activity and sub activity without worrying about data override.

Planning Data Form Lock

Hi,
I am wondering whether the Excel Lock & Send mechanism can be implemented in Hyperion Planning data form. I am using 9.3.1 of Hyperion Planning. This means that when one user is working (writing) on the data form with the specific page members, the other users can only read the data form (or get some sort of notification) for the same combination only.
Of course, one possible solution is to use the custom javascript to do so (I am not so sure how difficult this can be,either). Anyone got any experience on that?

Like you said this would require custom java script. Additionally you would need a central location to store user states to be able to flip the read switch.
Unless you are very good at javascript or someone provides you a custom script this is a non-trival exercise.
Likely you would use the xmlphttprequest function, setup a custom web service and have it interact with a database to store user state.
Implenting process, communication, and appropriate security is the manner to avoid people over-writing other values.

Dynamic period columns in data forms?

We are running HFM v11.1.1.3
I have some input data forms that shows some different periods and scenarios, however the periods sometimes needs to be changed, so I was wondering if anyone knows a way in doing this dynamic?
For January we would like it to be:
C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
and in March it should be:
C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
C4=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR-2
in June and September it should be
C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
C4=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR-3
so basically this would require 3 different forms, and with linked forms as well it will be many forms. So if there could be build in some kind of if statement?

Hi Kenneth,
Nobody is answering you because there is no way to do that with Data Forms.
If you are skilled with Excel, and if you understand the implications of going that path, you can create dynamic Excel grids that send data to HFM using HFM functions.
Depending on your needs and your budget, you can also create a custom web application that would replace data forms.
If you want to stick with data forms, then you will need to create 3 forms (+the linked forms you mentioned).

Arrange members in hierarchical order in planning data form

I am trying to hierarchically arrange the dimension members in row of a data form.
Assume the following hierarchy
Parent1
--- Child 11
--- Child 12
Parent2
--- Child 21
--- Child 22
When I place this dimension in the row of a Hyperion planning data form and select "honor hierarchy", the members are arranged in reverse order.
--- Child 11
--- Child 12
Parent1
--- Child 21
--- Child 22
Parent2
How do i arrange them such that the parent appears above the child ?

We had a similar issue with & in smarlist and patch .502 fixed it. However i put in your memeber "Cost per Minor Suite Turn (< 5K)" in the .502 environment and i saw the same issue: where "Cost per Minor Suite Turn (< 5K)" cuts off to Cost per Minor Suite Turn (
and i tried just "Cost per Minor Suite Turn < 5K" and it provided this Cost per Minor Suite Turn.
We also have a 11.1.2.4 environment i tried it in there and the same issue exsits. And i guess the only work around is spelling it out because that is what they told us regarding the & in smarlists.

Error during the save process with Planning data form

Hi,
When in Planning web-client, I am trying to make changes to data on a data form. The cells are level-0 members (Yellow and writeable in a bottom-up Working version). When I save, it takes a while to process the request, then gives me the following error message: "There was an error during the save process."
The data form is fairly large, could this be causing the problem? I am a able to save data on other forms that correspond to the exact same set of members and dimensions with no problem. What are possible causes of this error? I have tried stopping and starting planning and the entire EPM system. Thank you.

I believe you are using V11, I would stop planning, clear out log \Hyperion\logs\services\HyS9Planning-sysout.log, start planning, replicate the error and then going in look if the log has any more detailed information.

How can I maintain sorted data when I cut and paste?

I work almost exclusively with .csv files that I download from the local multi-list service (I'm a real estate agent). I can sort and chart data on the multi-list website but the interface for Apple users is pretty bad (Citrix client running through a gateway). I was looking forward to being able to download and manipulate data on my iBook as well as be able to present it to clients in a polished and professional manner. As far as I am concerned Numbers seems like a Beta at this point. I have sent in feedback and realize that I will never receive a reply from doing so. I really want to like this program but right now I just want to run my iBook over with my truck. Any help will be much appreciated.
I have three Numbers windows open. One is labeled "Sold" (20 columns, 693 rows+1 header), one is labeled "WE" (20 columns, 679 rows+1 header) and one is an untitled template (20 columns, 1 header). When I sort the data in "Sold" and "WE" to the parameters I need I end up with 18 rows in "Sold" and 22 rows in "WE". My goal is to take the sorted data and paste it into the untitled template.
I select the 18 rows in "Sold" and then select copy (this takes 25.65 seconds BTW!!!). I go to the untitled template and then paste (20.86 seconds). Numbers pastes the entire 693 rows from "Sold" into the untitled template.
I have tried to choose rows. I have tried to choose columns. I have selected individual cells and I have also tried to "select all cells". Each time I get a different result on what gets pasted into the untitled template. I have also tried "paste", "paste and match style" and "paste values" each time getting anything but what I need (the 18 sorted rows).
Does anyone know how to do this?

Is the form handler servlet a part of your portal web application?
Seems like yes, if you use getContextPath() :-)
then the form handler servlet should be able access the same session object
through
request.getSession()
If this is not the case, than you could get the session id at the time when
you create the form (in your portlet jsp file) and pass it as request
parameter to the form handler servlet.
That form handler servlet can return it later ...
By the way - the session id is contained in the session cookie, that the
browser sends everytime to the server in the requests. So when it hits the
".../application..." url, the server should automatically recognize to which
session it belongs...

Error in visualizing a Data Form "WDEFGenerator.cpp"

Hi,
I have migrated an HFM application from version 4.01 SP2 to version 11.1.2.1
Everything works fine appart from an error in visualizing a Data Form:
In the previous version of HFM this error was not verified.
If I disable the option SuppressNoDataRows I get no errors but I would like to keep this option enabled.
Does anyone know what could be the problem?
