Validating data/Test for dso

Hello Guys
I am writing a TD for a DSO and need to put Test conditions and validating procedures.
so what could i do to prove my dso is working fine.
1. Is this a true test to run extraction and check number of records in dso/psa equals source table or rsa3 or the extractor.
2. And how do u verify delta load. would that be number of records loaded during the delta load equal to the new records in source or what else can i do to verify delta load test
i kind of need this soon so please if u can help. i will assign points right away.

Hello Mark,
1. You can check the number of records of the given selection in RSA3 in the source system.
2. Its not easy to find the new records as delta captures both new and modified records, but if you still want to find you can check the DSO change log table for NEW Record Flag.

When ever any changes done in BOM , it can be captured in the same ECM number generated during the creation of bom under a valid date either u have entered or it will take current date as default date .
Now , if you forget that date , you should goto CC03-Engineering number and then check date from which it is valid .In CS02 , you should give that date along the same ECM number .Generally , it automatically pop up or else if it takes the current date during CS02 txn , u need to change the valid from date of ECM number

Validity Date change for Reimbursement types

Hello Experts,
We have a requirement to change the Validity period for Medical Reimbursement(SLTA) in table V_T7INAA from Calandar year to Financial year(Salary year for Payscale groupings for allowances). Shall we proceed by delimitting the existing validity period (As Calandar year) till 31.03.2009, since we need the new validity period from 01.04.2009(As financial year). Also which are the the things we should take care while making these changes?

Source List validity dates for MRP only

Hi.
Is there a way to do the following:
Set purchasing view "source list required" so that the material must be purchased from ANY of the sources on the source list... AND...
Setup the source list so that there are no overlaps, and MRP sources from consecutive contracts based on the source list validity dates.
For example, 1/1/10 to 5/1/10 -> Contract A (mrp relevant); 5/2/10-10/1/10 -> Contract B (mrp relevant). But on 5/3/10 I want to be able to manually change the requisition away from "B" and release against Contract A. In other words, I want MRP to get the sourcing close to correct, but allow the user the ability to override the MRP sourcing, AND still ensure that the source the user picks is on the source list somewhere.
When I try this now, the system generates "Source list not included in list despite source list requirement." The source list checking seems to be done all the way at the validity period level.

Using MS Access as a Data Source for BW

I have used MS Excel spreadsheets and 'mainframe' databases as data sources for BW in the past.
The company I ma working with has a large MS Access database containing historical sales data (from an R/3 3.1H system) that they wish to upload into BW v3.5 for comparison purposes.
My undersatnding was that MS Access was not a valid data source for BW. Could someone point out the error of my thinking and suggest how to set up MS Access as a data source.

Welcome onboard!
True, as far as I know, MS Access is not supported by BW. But you can use MSSQL instead. MSSQL is supported. I think the free version of MSSQL called MSDE (Microsoft SQL Desktop Edition) is also supported (Although I have not tried it yet)
Importing MSACCESS data to a similar table in MSSQL is very easy. Just use the Data Transfer Utility bundled with MSSQL. It will bulk insert data from MSACCESS to MSSQL. Then from MSSQL, you can set up BW to connect to it and you are done...

F:convertDateTime - how to define two valid date formats?

I have an input field that accepts a date. There are two valid date formats allowed: yyyyMMdd & yyyyMMM
I am currently doing this ...
<h:inputText ...>
<f:convertDateTime pattern="yyyyMMdd" />
<f:convertDateTime pattern="yyyyMMM" />
</h:inputText>
... but only the second date format is being accepted as valid.
How can I specify two valid date formats for the input?

The fact of the matter is that you have a very specific need. There is only one way to tailor to specific needs in a generic API: allow to override default behavior. The other option is to create a bloated API that tries to incorporate so many bells and whistles that it becomes unusable. So in my opinion, JSF is designed exactly the way it is supposed to be in this respect.

Validity & Number range for permits

Hi,
Can we map validity for permits in SAP PM permit standard functionality. I was advised for WCM however that seems a complex system as per our requirement.
Validity of permits, auto permit number assignment while assigning permit is the requirement.
Any inputs?

Hope you have gone through that blog.
Permits are approvals which will be created as one time master data & the same can be used for many orders.
So, it doesn't have any number range. Also, this master data is very limited.
You can't set the validity date range for permit, I feel.
Instead, in IPMD, you can sen Usage Block that will avoid the usage of that specific permit further.
Suggest you to read some documents & links on permits to understand the concept.

Unable to consolidate data from two DSOs into an InfoCube for reporting.

I am working on BW 7.0 to create BEx Report as below:
This report will have data coming from two different sources, some data from COPA DSO [such as Customer Number, Product Hierarchy1, Product Hierarchy2, Product Hierarchy3, Product Hierarchy4. Product Hierarchy5, Product Hierarchy6 and a few other Key Figures] and the rest [such as Product Hierarchy, Reference Document, Condition Type (both Active & Inactive), Condition Value and a few other Key Figures] from another DSO (ZSD_DS18) which is a copy of the BCT DSO (0SD_O06). I've chosen this DSO because this is the BCT DSO which is used to store data from a Standard Extractor 2LIS_13_VDKON.
Below are the screenshots of these 2 DSOs:
I have successfully extracted the data from 2LIS_13_VDKON (includes PROD_HIER but not Customer Number) and loaded into a DSO (ZSD_D17).
All the testing is done using only one Sales Document No (VBELN).
First test that I tried is.. to create an Infocube and loaded data from ZCOPA_01 and ZSD_DS18 and when the LISTCUBE was run on this InfoCube, the data is coming up in two different lines which is not very meaningful. Screenshot below:
Therefore, I have created another DSO (ZSD_DS17) to Consolidate the data from ZCOPA_01 & ZSD_DS18 establishing mappings between some of common Chars such as below:
ZCOPA_01 ZSD_DS18
0REFER_DOC <-> 0BILL_NUM
0REFER_ITM <-> 0BILL_ITEM
0ME_ORDER <-> 0DOC_NUMBER
0ME_ITEM <-> 0S_ORD_ITEM
51 records are loaded from ZSD_DS18 into ZSD_DS17 and 4 records are loaded from ZCOPA_01 into ZSD_DS17 for a particular Sales Document Number.
When I am using a Write-Optimized DSO, data is coming in just 1 line but it is showing only 4 lines which is aggregated which is as expected since W/O DSO aggregates the data. However, when I use Standard DSO, the data is again splitting up into many lines.
Is there something that I am missing in here while designing the Data Model or does this call for some ABAP being done, if so, where or should I have to talk to the Functional Lead and then Enhance the Standard Extractor, and even if I do that, I would still have to bring in those Key Figures from ZCOPA_01 for my reporting?

in your (current) InfoCube setup, you could work with "constant selection" on the key figures
for the COPA key figures, you'll need to add product hierarchy to the key figures with a selection of # and constant selection flagged
for the SD key figures, you'll have to do the same for customer & the product hierarchy levels (instead of product hierarchy)

Validity Date options in the Portal for Child Subtype

For Child Subtype, the three options
1. Valid from Today
2. Valid as of Future Date
3. Validity Period
are present in the portal depending on the usecase maintained. For the 2nd & 3rd option, the user can enter only future dates.
Past dates are not allowed to be entered from the portal but are allowed in the backend.
We have a requirement of allowing past dates from the portal. But when we try to do this, we get an error 'Start data should be today's date or later'.
What is the reason of preventing past dates for the record in the portal when this is available in backend?

Some companies don't want employees to be able to back-date records for children due to eg. rules for reimbursement, absence quotas etc. They want HR-department to check if setting dates in past is OK.
But you can change this behaviour by creating an implementation of HRXSS_PER_BEGDA. It is found in PTARQ -> Customizing-> Service-specific settings ->Own data -> Change default start date.
Make sure you test the use case, because not all use-cases allow setting dates.
Code would be like this:

Checking for a valid date

I have a program that takes a user's input from three text boxes to make a date. I need to be able to check to make sure that the day of the month is correct. For example if they enter 02/35/02 an error message should apear. I am trying to use a Calendar object to do this with but it isn't working. Here is my code:

Regd : How to find Validity date for a user in central user system

Hi Experts;
I want to get the list of users with profile SAP_ALL with following details like validity ,user type ,user name ,user id..
I can get through SUIM for each individual systems.Its very difficult to login to each system ,generate the report.So I prefered to go for Central system
But if I use central user system I have no option to find validity and user type for the system ( SUIM - > Cross system application )
I have also tried to the table USRO2 ( which gives only the list of users in the central system )
So is there any possible ways to find the Users with profile SAP _ALL with validity date in the central user system. So that I can easily generate it as one report instead of logging to each and every system

I need your help to know if we can use BAPI_PROFITCENTER_CHANGE to change the validity period of a profit center.I am using this BAPI in a LSMW program.
The changes I want to make are something like changing the validity dates from
1) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2007 - 12/12/9999
2) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2005 - 12/12/9999
3) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2006 - 12/12/2010
or should I use BAPI_PROFITCENTER_CREATE?
