Variables in Rows/Columns in the BEX BI7.0

Hi Experts,
In BI 7.0, two tabs are there to drag and drop infoobjects/Key figures into them: One is "FILTER" and other is "Rows/Columns".
We can see the created variables can be dregged and dropped into both pan (FILTER and Rows/Columns). What is the diff when Variables dragged into FILTER and Row/Columns.
Where is the correct way to use created variables either in the tab "FILTER" or "Rows/Columns" or both??

Hi Sapna,
if you drag a characteristic to default values of the filter, you have to restrict it: doppelclick on characteristic and after that please choose some values to restrict the characteristic. After that you will see the difference.

GR and IR as separate columns in the BEx report

Hi,
I am working on a Purchasing report in which the user needs the snap shot of PO history,Like PO no.,Item,Netprice,PO Qty,Net order value,GR no.,IR number etc.
I created a view on EKPO and EKBE.Here,based on the BELNR(Material document) field we are taking GR and IR values.(When VGABE =1 BELNR=GR and VGABE = 2 BELNR=IR).I created DSO to load the data.The problem is they need the GR and IR as separate columns in the BEx report.Could u please help me how to achieve this in BI?

A Characteristci appears twice under the Rows Column on the left hand side.

Hi All,
According to the requirement , there are 2 Material Numbers ,1 of them is used for Compounding,which is not required in the Report,but as it is used for Compounding ,we need to place that in the rows.
We have put tat in "NO DISPLAY" mode,but Material Number appears twice under the Rows column, on the left hand side of the screen, in the Portal when we execute the Report.How Can we have to display only 1 Material Number on the left hand side of the screen?

the left hand side of the screen is reakky vague....you should be more specific...
Probably you need to filter out the compounding characteristics in the global filter area.

Adding new customized column in the Bex Report

Hi Experts,
I have an existing column (say A ) in Bex and I want to add one more column (say B) based on the values that I have in column A.
For e.g.,
A          B
5          5   (=A1)
8          3   (=A2 - A1)
15        7   (=A3 - A2)
I am able to create a new column B and bring the values based on above formula to get the expected results. Though the results are correct and also I saved the report as workbook, when I try to refresh the query again and open the workbook, the new column 'B' is getting disappeared.
Could someone please help me on this?

Can you please explain what do you mean by "the grid becomes static" when you use "Convert to Formula"?
I'm studying Excel integration in the BEx Analyser and it seems to me that when you select Convert to Formula and save the query, then you load new records into the Cube, when you open the query again it's no longer refreshed (even if you select "Refresh Workbook on Open". Is it what you mean?
I'd appreciate more detailed explanation. I'd appreciate too this documentation about BExGetData.

You can fill selected values of the table by writing to it or the corresponding property using a property node - the table is just a 2D array of strings. I think for your "disable" question you are referring to the shortcut menu (when you right click). If you are using LabVIEW 8.x, you can edit or disable that shortcut menu - just right click on your table at edit time and choose Advanced >> Run-Time Shortcut Menu.

Problem with dynamic columns in the BEx report

Hi Gurus,
I am tryging to build some planning application using BI-IP and input ready queries.
I'm facing issues with making the columns in the query 'dynamic'. The example is given below: -
Lets say there are states and cities for which we have to plan sales volumes. Depending on the value I choose for 'State' it should create as many columns for 'Cities' as per the hierarchy of the cities.
Lets say if I choose Maharashtra then the report shud look like :-
State-> Maharashtra
Rows               Column1                      Column2                      Column3
GL Account      Mumbai/0quantity        Pune/0quantity            Aurangabad/ 0quantity
1000000            1000                               1500                              1200
State--> Karnatka
Rows                 Column1                  Column2
GL account        Bangalore                 Mangalore
1000000
Any idea how this can be achieved?

How to insert data to the specified row column of the multi column list box

Hi All
How do i insert data into the specified column of the multi cplumn list box?
I have a table that containsall station nos and name.Then another table contains the data the various stations having at for 24 hrs.That is 12 am to 11 pm.
And i want to display each stations details as follows using a multi column list box/table
My stationinfo table
stnno   stnname......................
s1           stn1
s2            stn2
s3             stn3
The other table
stnno      sysdatetime       data
s1             12am                   1
s2              12am                   4
s1               1 am                 2
So the station s1,s2.... will have data for 24 hrs.
And i want to display it as follows using a multicolumn listbox
stnname        12am   1 am ......................................11pm
s1                   ...................
s2                 ........................
What i have in my mind is to get all station nos
and in a for loop get the station's data from 12 am to 11 pm
or
select every statios data for each hor.But in this case i have to query the database 24 times.So i dont think its a good way.
Or any other better query available?
Can anybody suggest me a good idea?
One more thing...how to insert data into the specified field row or column of a multi column list box?

Need to display the BW documents as a column in the Bex report

Hi,
I know, from Bex you can Goto "Goto -> Documents" or "Goto -> Documents for navigation status" context menu to display documents.
But I was wondering, is there a way to display the documents as a column in the report, instead of going through the menu?

the very purpose of it being a document is that it can have any data that might be required to identify the value like an image etc... this would be the reason why you cannot display the document directly on the page..
Options are :
1. When loading the data - have a routine that looks into the document and populates the text attribute of the IOBJ
2. Use a virtual characteristic to pick up the value of the characteristic and fetch the document content ( Not sure if this can be done )
3. If you are using Web reporting - use the table interface to fetch the value of the document and put it into the cell.

When I put the display properties of the char Infoobject as "Key and Text" in the output the 'Key' and the 'Name' are displayed in two different columns, and there is no Heading for the column that shows 'Name' but my requirment is to have to have the Heading for the column that displays 'Text' also.

One of the work arounds will be to have 2 columns 1 having key and ohter only text and u can then set the headings as u need.

How to create variables for Characteristic Info-objects in Rows / Columns

I want to create variables in abovementioned manner for COPA retraction in BPS, as COPA retraction does not recognise variables created in "filter" section of Bex. Can sumone advise , as I have tried all the possibilities of creating but failed to do so?

Actually my problem will be solved if I am able to create variables in either Rows/Columns area of BeX.
Variables are getting created easily in Filter section of BeX (but in COPA , it will not serve any purpose COPA retraction does not recognise contents of Filter/variables contained in the filter).
In fact variables are getting created in Rows/Colums of Bex, but they are in the form of structures. (Again multiple structures (more than 1) are not recognised in COPA retraction.

How would I change the variables in multiple methods with the user input?

-when the program runs it will ask the user for what they want to set the tic tac toe at between 3 - 5.

Issue in using presentation variable as filter condition in the reports

I have an issue in using presentation variable as filter condition in my reports the details are as follows:
Details :
We want to implement the Max and Min variables through Presentation variables only.we do not want to implement it through session variables in this case.
We have two variables MIN and MAX to be used as Presentation Variables,for a column of the report (which is a quantity),so that the user wants to see the data for this column within a particular range.i.e the Min and the Max.This part has been implemented well . The issue is when the user wants to see the full data.In that case we will not pass any values to these two Presentation Variable or in other words we are not restricting the report data so we are not passing any value to the variables,this is when the report is throwing the error. we want to leave this variables blank in that case.but this is giving error.
Please suggest how can I overcome this issue.

i think you have to use guided navigation for this. create two reports first is the one you are having currently and second is the one in which remove the presentation variable from the column formula. i.e. the same report with no aggregation applied.
Now create a dummy report and make it return value only when the presentation variable value is not equal to max or min. guide the report to navigate between the first and second report based on the result of the dummy report.

Overall Result Row is not the Sum of Individual Values!

I am frustrated with a weird problem. I have an expense report in which Expense1 is shown a value of 8,126. If I drilldown by company code, the sum of the company codes is 8,235, but the "Overall Result" row is showing 8,126.
I tried drilling down by GL accounts, cost centers, profit centers, material and even currency. For all of these drilldowns the "Overall Result" row is 8,126 but the individual values sum out to be 8,235.
First I thought it could be "Zero Suppression" that is hiding some values from the display. But "Zero Suppression" was not active at all. I have checked the LISTCUBE and saw that the Expense1 should be 8,235 and not 8,126. The key figure properties "Calculate Result As" and "Calculate Single Values As" are set to "Nothing Defined" and "Use Default Direction". But still for some strange reason, the "Overall Result" row is different than the sum of individual rows. It's driving me crazy as I have ran out of ideas to figure out what's happening. Could someone help me with this? I would appreciate any input with points!

Remove the 'Suppress Zero rows/columns' from the query definition and then check the values.
Column A might have value, but for the same row column B might have zero, hence the row was not shown in the result set, but the overall result will include all such values as well, even thought it was not shown in the result set.

Is header row/columns behavior documented anywhere?

Would someone please direct me to a guide on how header row/columns work?
It's clear they work differently, but how?
I'd like to create columns that increment in months, quarter, etc. I know how to do that with cells, not not header rows. If you put a date in a cell and copy it out it increments by days. There must be a way to increment by months quarters, etc.
But that's not my real question. The question is what are all the features of a header row / column? I can find nothing in the user guide.

I am new to Business Objects so please bear with me. I am using a cross tab in Web intelligence.
I want to compute sum across rows & columns & divide the cells with this sum. foreg.

       Count                Count             Sum

Sum 3                      6
Now I want to first obtain sum across column & rows. and then divide cells in interval1 with 3 & in interval2 with 6

Now on Cross Tab the data is arranged as follow -:
Business Magzines                                                                                4                      3                   6
% of Business Magzine
Literature                                                                                5                       3                  1
% of Literature Books
Now the purpose is calculate sum across row & column . Use this sum to calculate %.
Now Count gives distribution in specific intervals.
I need to have total . Let's say of first column i.e. 9.
Use this SUM(9) & calculate % of particular product.----> % of Business Magzines     (4/9) *100
                                                                                % of Literature     books (5/9)*100
Items may change depending on the data entered i.e. it may grow more than these two items or reduce.
