Vectorizing in Illustrator CC?

So, I am pretty new to all this and am trying to vectorize an image(client logo) in Illustrator CC and not having great results.  I went to window-image trace and using the preview and it is not even close to correct, any other ideas? Thanks for any and all help.

nugfamily,
The right way is to recreate, using the aprorpiate tools, which depend on the actual artwork, Type tool for text, Rectangle/Ellipse/whatever Tool for simple shape, Pen Tool for many other shapes, all done on top of a locked image, which may be dimmed.

  • Can´t copy vector from Illustrator to Edge Animate

In the newest version this should be a function, but nothing happens for me when I copy the object in Illustrator and try to paste it in Edge Animate. Any help?
Another question would be why the filters are even among the tools in Edge when they don´t work on anything, neither vectors not photos.. and also, texts often don´t end up correct in the preview. Seriously, I work as a graphic news designer professionally and pay money for your products. This is not OK.

That´s how you went about it in the older versions. In the New 2014 Edge you´re supposed to be able to just ctrl+C a vector from Illustrator and ctrl-V it in Edge. That´s one of the big new features. But nothing happens for me and there doesn´t seem to be any one else who experiences this problem since I haven´t found anything on it when googling.
    Thanks anyway.

The artwork in the PDF might already be a vector graphic.
If not you need to trace it either automatically or manually

Why can't I copy an image or vector from Illustrator CC and paste to Fireworks CS6? This was possible with Illustrator CS6. I know they are different versions but since there is no Fireworks CC, is there a fix update???

Yes, other users have complained about that. Unfortunately, Fireworks' development was halted a year ago, and I would be surprised if Adobe spends any money or time to fix bugs and interoperability issues in Fireworks. I would not expect any real updates or fixes.
Tough to swallow, but FW is dead in the water and EOL'ed.

  • Placing a vector from Illustrator in P.S I loose the quality?

Hello and thanks in advance for your help,
I created a vector image in Illustrator. When I drag and drop it into my photoshop document I loost the quality of the vector that I just created. The image looks blurry and I can't read the text I had on it. Why does this happen? How do I create a vector in Illustrator and then place it in photoshop with the same high quality?

Make sure your document resolutions and your raster effects setting in AI match. Sounds very much like you are using raster effects like drop shadows which would still make the file bahve like any other pixel image and cause resampling to the target document res...

  • Importing Flash Vectors to Illustrator.  Issues with Missing Lines.  Please Advise.

So I have done many hours of animation in flash over the years.  And what I am trying to do is import some of the characters I have created in Flash into Illustrator and convert them to PSD.  This is for a print project that I am working on.  The reason I want to get the images to photoshop is so I can add some effects and coloring techniques I simply can not do in Illustator or Flash.
Here is the method I am using.
    1) Select the vector image in Flash and Export Selection to Adobe FXG.
    2) Open FXG in Illustartor
    3) Export to PSD
    4) Open in Photoshop and Color.
The problem I am having is the line art that was drawn with the pencil tool in Flash simply vanishes when imported to Illustartor.  Also a lot of the line art that was draw with the pencil tool is gradient filled or the image I am trying to export may have multiple color Pencil Lines.  So  just trying to outline the images in AI does not provide the look or effect I want.
Does anyone have a solution to this, or have any tips for me.
    Thanks.

FXG is a bust. Never worked right in the first place. The rest would require much more specific details like a sample file perhaps, screenshots, how the characters are animated and whatnot. FL and AI simply use completely different vector engines, so there may be all sorts of issues at play here.

  • Jagged edges in vector in Illustrator cs6

Hello, I am new to Illustrator and I just atempted my first vector drawing.  The problem I have is that I finished all of the lines using the pen tool on all the outlines.  I saved it as an svgz file and then I selected all of the lines and converted it to a live paint object to add in color using the live paint bucket tool.  This all went well until at the end I noticed that along the outlines the color looked jagged along it.
Also I can see the outline of the pen tool when it intersects with other outlines with the pen tool.
In the previous version of the Image before I converted it to a live paint object it did not do this.
Above is before I converted it to a live paint object.
I would greatly appreciate any advice as I am very new to this and am very confused.

All monitors need to display content with pixels. You can't eliminate all aspects of a pixel display. Things should be smooth when printed, and increasing/decreasing the size of the objects won't change the pixels which you see due to the pixel display.

  • Photoshop vector vs Illustrator vector

    whats the difference?

It is easier to create complex shapes in Illustrator and you have a master file in vector format from which the logo can be produced in all different sizes for different purposes.
As I said, an Illustrator file can be placed in a Photoshop file if desired.

  • Vectors in Illustrator, versus CAD and GIS programs

I like that Illustrator can handle .dwg files, so I don't have to restart to windows as often. However, I've found that Illustrator's ability to handle large files, especially imported .dwg files is really, really, ridiculously slow. Compared to AutoCAD and ArcGIS, drawing and manipulating the same number of lines and symbols on the screen, even though Illustrator is not dealing with the Z-coordinates, is probably 80-100 times slower. I want to know why this is so. Also, it seems to be even slower on the Mac version of CS4 than the PC version on the same machine.

Because CAD sees the files as arthimazic and Illustrator seesit as something that has to be drawn or if you wish rendered before output but I think that should be changed my6self as that one change would give Illustrator the real advantage users have been looking for smaller files size, better rendering and super fast working speed.

  • Can I save my vector from Illustrator's Trial version?

I have downloaded Illustrators trial and created a vector image. Is it possible to use this vector for my website?

    Dlascari,
In addition to what Monika said, you can use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S/Cmd+option+Shift+S to Save for Web, notice the Transparency option for PNG and GIF and the Art/Text Optimize option in the Image Size window.
And the artwork is just as usable when created in the trial version.

  • What do you think of this vector based illustration that I made?

TTell me what I need to work on and how. Thanks in advance.

Your trace over the image is fairly accurate as regards the trace. Here I removed most of the color and laid it over the photo.
Your treatment of the subject is flat, uninspiring, don't ya think?
One way of rectifying that is to use mesh fills so you can add highlights, darker regions and "easily" modify them as you go. This would give the drawing some dimension. You could also go for making a bazillion polygons to go for a more modernistic interpretation.
But we have no idea of what you are wanting to achieve. It would be easier (and more time effective on our part), if you pointed to similar drawings that you wanted to emulate. Else we could give a hundred ways of drawing it that do not fit your goals, whatever they are.

  • Gradient fill disappearing when converting vector/Illustrator file to shape layer

    Hi,
When coverting a vector or Illustrator file (such as a logo) into a shape layer any gradient fill is lost. Is there no way to ensure the gradient fill is converted across or is this a matter for a future release of After Effects?
    Many thanks.

That's a limitation of the current feature.

  • Why is photoshop cc changing dimensions of illustrator vectors?

How and why is photoshop cc changing the dimensions of vector images from illustrator cc?
Copy and paste has been a regular part of my workflow for years, going back since CS2.
Now I cant copy a vector from illustrator and paste into photoshop with out photshop changing the dimensions.
Photoshop now doesnt even find the dimensions stored on the clipboard when you want to open a new document.

  • How to Import Vector Identified Files into Photoshop Without Losing Quality

    Hello,
I am creating a series of music worksheets on photoshop. I have created some music scores in a music writing software called Sibelius 7. It has the capability to export the sheet music graphics in the following forms: .pdf, .eps, .bmp, .tiff, .png, .svg .
However, I have tried to 'place' each of them into my photoshop file to see which one will work. But on saving the photoshop document as a .pdf with any of the graphics formats, the vector quality of the image has been lost, as it pixelates on zooming in. I have also tried to import an .svg file into adobe illustrator to save it as an .ai file and then import that into photoshop, but the image is again pixelated.
I don't really know what is happening, as I am essentially trying to import a file that is a vector (or at least does not pixelate on zooming) into photoshop, hoping for the same qualities to be retained, but it is being lost for some reason.
    What should I do?
    Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I opened the vectored pdf into illustrator. I tested illustrator by saving that document as a new pdf and the vector quality was still retained. I the following images, I copied and pasted the vector from illustrator into photoshop. However, on saving this new photoshop document as a pdf, it does not retain the vector format, as you can see with the pixelation that occurs when zooming in on an object.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with jpeg images imported from Illustrator

Hi, i am kind of new with Premire and video, though have experience in web design and coding, but i have noticed a weird problem with premiere pro cs 5.5  when i  import jpeg pictures and put them as intro before the video that where done in adobe illustrator and have vectors and stuff, the quality of the image gets pretty bad and blurry...i searched through the internet looking for clues on what to do like changing to png, tiff formats but nothing has helped so far....any ideas on what to do. So when i import jpeg, png images from illustrator (that have vectors or illustrations) do i have to do something special with it, or import it in some special format??? i would appreciate the help.
This is how the image looks on youtube:

Anyway here is the video with its poor image quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_oMNzXAZ8Y&feature=youtu.be
THANX guys would appreciate the help!!!

    hiya.
video likes 72 dpi ( though some will say it doesnt matter .. thats a long story ). basically video 'shows' 72 dpi ( basically what the monitor resolution is...typically 72 dpi ).  As you know from print and dimensions, there is a relative sorta thing with byte count ( file size in bytes ), ppi ( I usually say dpi but in video its ppi ....same thing basically )..., and dimensions ( width x height ).
soooo , as you know in print and web stuff...there is a relationship between number of dots or pixels, dimensions in inches or pixels, and overall byte count of file size....
That said, in "print" it is usually best to go with 300dpi.. In video it is best to go with 72 ppi.....
Also, in print and going offest press.. its nice to go with cmyk ( for color separations ).. but in video and web its best to go with RGB.
The video stuff doesnt deal with vector stuff... it just sees and deals with bitmapped stuff...vector stuff is a mathematical sorta thing whereas video stuff is just plain old bitmaps ( like BMP, TIF, JPG, etc )...
Ideally your still images and graphics in a video editing program would be bitmapped rgb 72 ppi.. and match exactly the dimension of your video format ( eg. 1080p ).  That said, it is normal to have LARGER images ( still images and graphics ) than your project dimensions if you PLAN ON SCALING AND MOTION )... like, your original graphic or pic can be larger than the project if you plan on scaling it down over time to make it look like you are zooming out in the video ....
To get the best results of a graphic or picture in a video is to have it exactly the project size ( eg. 1920x1080 px at 72 ppi for full HD ).
soooooo.... if you convert your vector to bitmap, save as psd or tif or something... at 72ppi , with the dimensions in inches or pixels that equals the video ( 1920x1080 for example )... you will see what you want in your second sample ( the original )...
ps.. you can import layers to the video if you wanna do a psd file and have ONE of those layers the one you use in your video ...can label it something like " video layer " ... whatever...
