Verizon Internet Options, wireless, work with alarm system
I live in a rural area with no DSL, cable, or landline. I use a Verizon mifi for my home internet connection and my alarm system uses a cellular connection for my alarm monitoring system. I am interested in upgrading my alarm system to accomomodate the remote arming/disarming features, and possibly to add some cameras but I was told that I needed an always on internet connection. Does Verizon have an option for this? Does anyone have any recommendations? It would have to be Verizon service related or satellite based, as I stated there are no hard lines available. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I know I'm not the only person with this situation so I'd be interested in what others have come up with.
Thanks!
The only product Verizon sells which acts as an always-on service without DSL or FiOS, is Verizon Wireless HomeFusion "LTE Connected" Internet. There are data limits and it is rather expensive, especially if you rack up overages. The other option is to see if you have a WISP in your area. Or, try ordering something like a T1 and splitting that with neighbors (won't be very fast but it's 1.5Mbp/1.5Mbps).

my Extensis suitcaseX 11.0.4 is no longer working with my system OSX10.6.8, what is the best and cheapest font management software to use that's compatible with this system and my existing CS design software?
If you upgraded to Snow Leopard, then it would seem that Suitcase 11 is not compatible with Snow Leopard and you'd need to buy Suitcase Fusion 3 for $99.95.

Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion
Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion
My experience with upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion is that the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless will print just fine, although it seems to take a little longer to find the printer on the network. My scan function however locks up and will not work. This really is an annoyance, though, since I have VueScan, which works fine with Lion.
Hopefully, Apple and HP will not orphan the OS native scanning feature for HP multifunction printers. -
How to work with file system in linux within a JSF app?
I use this line in my backing bean to log some events:
FileHandler fhxml = new FileHandler("../webapps/MyWebApp/Log/MyWebAppLog.xml", append);
fhxml.setFormatter(new XMLFormatter());That works fine in windows but when I deploy it in my Tomcat 6 in linux It doesn't work. How can I work with file system in linux? You should never use relative paths to access the filesystem. The path would be relative to the current working directory which is not per se the same in all environments. To convert a relative web path to an absolute file system path, you need ServletContext#getRealPath(). Use this absolute file system path in the java.io stuff. In a JSF application on top of Servlet API you can get the underlying ServletContext by ExternalContext#getContext().
Alternatively, if the file is located in one of the default paths of the classpath or if its path is added to the classpath, you can also just use ExternalContext#getResource() or even #getResourceAsStream() using just the file name. -

What would be the newest (full) version of Dreamweaver that would work with my system as shown above?
I read that CS5.5 requires a 64-bit processor so I guess I have to rule that version out.The only version available is CS5.5 and it runs fine on Win XP.
There's no 64 bit version of DW and nothing about that mentioned in the System Requirements
http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/tech-specs.html
Only After Effects and Premiere Pro are 64 bit at the moment
http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/faq.html#64bit-support
Download the free DW CS5.5 Trial and try DW out for 30 days (after that you have to make a purchasing decision)
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=dreamweaver
Although subscription version are now available, consider carefully if that purchasing model is suitable for your needs.
All's well while you're paying your monthly or annual fee. When you stop paying, you cannot use the product.

I have upgraded Safari in my Mac, but the new Safari does not work with my system. So I find myself without any working browser. How can I solve this problem and/or install my previous Safari version?
Reinstall Safari 5.1.10 for OS X 10.6.8: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1569. Might do the trick.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari 5.1.10, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters. -
Getting support through this site is terrible. Having said that I have been trying to access the store in order to order PS CC and I have been unable to connect. I have an internet connection that works with everyone else. The URL comes up in the browse window and the address simply hangs. This has been going on for the past three hours.

Hi Susan,
I checked using the email you provided, and there's no history of any orders under that email address. (Then, I removed your email address from you post, since this is a public forum and it's best not to broadcast contact information.)
I'll message you privately, and you can send along your email from Adobe if you'd like.

Is the Sony PVM-1351Q going to work with my system?
I am looking into getting this for my boyfriend who is a video editor. I'm not sure exactly what he needs but I do know that as of now, he only has one monitor. He was telling me the other night that he needed another monitor for color correction and I found the Sony PVM-1351Q in my price range, used. At first I was just going to get him a regular high quality computer monitor but this seemed better somehow. Is this something an editor needs?
I'm also curious if this will work with his system. I'm writing from his email right now.
Any info on this would help or if you have another suggestion for what he might want, that would be great. This is a fine monitor for what he needs to do... color correct. It is a standard definition monitor, and would work great for DV projects.

I had a Tascam US 122 usb interface, but it didn't work with OSX Mavericks. What model would work with this? Would the US-144 mkii work with my system?
Thanks! You didn't mention the kind of track in GB you are trying to create, but if you are connecting the keyboard with a guitar chord to the Tascam, you will need to set up a Real Instrument Track in GB to hear anything. If your keyboard has a midi out, use a midi cable to the midi input of the Tascam, create Software Instrument Track, and you will hear something. But with a guitar chord, it won't send the right signal to a Software Instrument Track. The headphone jack in the Tascam monitors the signal coming back to it out of GB (if you choose the US-122 as your monitor in GB's preferences), so you wouldn't hear your keyboard if the track is not set up correctly. It could be the drivers, but since you didn't mention the type of keyboard or the type of GB track, I thought that might be a possible answer as well.

How could we have the Sonos wireless speakers work with Aruba System?
Answer- Generally we may notice that the Sonos wireless devices are not able to pass discovers / requests / replies through Aruba controller . One of the main reason could be the DLNA limitation on the controller when Airgroup is enabled. In such situations, if we disable Airgroup we can notice these devices start working fine. But if we want to use Sonos wireless speakers with AirGroup enabled on their Aruba wireless networks, we may have to enable some DLNA Airgroup services.
If we check through the blocked AirGroup services multiple times (show airgroup blocked-service-id dlna). We can find the following service IDs to the DLNA Media airgroup service in order to make this system work as desired:
airgroupservice "DLNA Media"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:GroupRenderingControl:1"
id "urn:schemas-sonos-com:service:Queue:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:AVTransport:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1"
id "urn:schemas-tencent-com:service:QPlay:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:GroupManagement:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ZoneGroupTopology:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:DeviceProperties:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:MusicServices:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:AlarmClock:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:ZonePlayer:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:SystemProperties:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1"
id "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ConnectionManager:1"
We can add these under an airgroup service as "Sonos Services" or any other name in order to differentiate this traffic from other DLNA traffic.vikrams-Is this method supported for IAP-103 running 6.4.0.3-4.1.0.2_45704? I create the Service however when I try to add the service ID to my Sonos defined service, it is asking for the service ID in the format of: _<alpha numeric string>._tcp or ._udp? Thanks!Leandro

I'm not sure I properly asked my question. I have a need to post a resume to an employer who requires that the information be submitted via Internet Explorer. My OSX vs 10.4.11 will not accept downloads of the current IE version and Microsoft no longer supports any earlier versions that would work with my Mac. A web search shows thousands of download possibilties, but I am leery of what kind of schmutz might come with them. Has anyone in the community have any recent experience with a secure Internet Explorer download
Probably best to go to a library and submit your resume there.
You can make many web browsers claim to be ie. Here is how.
TenFourFox -- It's a port of the latest FireFox to run on older hardware and software.
"World's most advanced web browser. Finely tuned for the Power PC."

OmniWeb uses the lastest Safari framework. The open source WebKit. Other browsers like Safari and iCab use the OS version of WebKit. The OmniWeb downloaded dmg includes it's own copy of the latest WebKit.

I'm looking to buy an alarm system that will call and text me when the alarm is tripped.
The system has GSM service.
PPRO211GSM - Visonic Power Max Pro Kit with Built-in GSM
How do I establish a new line for this as a new line in my friends and family type account?
What do I 'put in the alarm system' to have it participate in the Verizon network?
Thanks
http://www.homesecuritystore.com/p-1822-ppro211gsm-visonic-power-max-pro-kit-with-built-in-gsm.aspxLike Ann said, the system is based on GSM technology. In the product description, it says:
The PPRO211GSM kit only requires a SIM card from either AT&T or Tmobile and as many prepaid minutes as you desire. The system will function and make calls so long as there are prepaid minutes available on your SIM card.
Additionally:
PLEASE NOTE: If you are looking to do MONITORING for your system, your SIM card will require a DATA PACKAGE included with the SIM card from your cellphone provider.
Verizon is based on CDMA technology, and does not use SIM cards to identify accounts and users. The two systems are not compatible, so you would need an account with AT & T, T-Mobile, or a local GSM service provider in order for this to work for you. -
Netflix and Youtube (internet option) is not working on Apple TV 2 I bought - please advise how to fix this. Please note this is not to do with signing in as the internet menu and option to sign in is not given at all on screen/within ATV2. The only menu options which appear on screen are "computer" and "settings" and nothing else.
I have read from some other posts this may be because of the country in which I am located (currently the UAE) - this of course is not an acceptable excuse and if the real reason I hope Apple will fix this immediately. From the box I bought the description on the reverse side of the packaging clearly states "Plays movies and TV shows from Netflix, live and archived games from MLB, NBA, and NHL, and videos from YouTube and Vimeo".
If it is a country specific/territory issue then the packaging must be changed for countries in which this does not work as this product is being missold to customers, especially as having the option to stream Netflix, YouTube and Vimeo is one of its unique selling points - without which I would not have bought it in the 1st place!
Currently very disappointed in Apple (normally a complete Apple fan!)
Any help appreciated (positive comments only thank you).In reply to the comment "You seem to be saying that the box that you have is different in some way". I'm actually not saying that at all as I have no idea what your box says and therefore can't comment.
And unless you're on the packaging design or distribution teams it would be a giant leap to presume every single box around the world is the same based on the product being the same.
As a marketing person I know companies of all sizes and shapes tailor their products to cater for individual markets. E.g. coca cola cans have different designs based on distribution location and languages used in particular countries and even the product itself can differ, although this may not be the case with Apple of course.
I'm simply describing what is on my box and I don't neccessarily mean to be abrupt however I certainly wouldn't waste my time typing on this forum to say the box says something when it actually does not.
Let me know if you can postively affect the outcome of this problem/help in someway and I'll be sure to send the image.
Thanks.
