Verizon's new ripoff/scam???

So how does Verizon treat their loyal customers? Well it seems like recently they have treated me with false promises and fake promotions.....
It's strange that despite to speaking with multiple reps about certain promotions, NONE of them seem to make a "note" on my account to document our discussion and promises they make.
2 recently failed promos:
1) A loyalty promotion of getting 30gb of data for $130 was promised to me in October. Since it was in the middle of my billing cycle it was supposed to go into effect the following billing cycle.......3 billing cycles later and nothing has changed. When I call to find out what happened, nobody knows what promo I'm talking about. Of course they still offer me 30gb data but at $75 more than what I'm currently paying.
2) Get $100 bill credit for a new smartphone activation. With this promotion I activated 2 new lines and was told to wait 2-3 billing cycles for it to reflect. 3 cycles later nothing has shown up. I call about this issue and guess what?????? Nobody knows what promo I'm talking about again!!! How is that possible?!?!?! They decide to research my account and call me back about 6 hours later to tell me that they still cannot find that promotion. And of course there is no notations on my account regarding such promo?
I feel ripped off, lied to and scammed by a company that I have been a customer with for over 8 years. I have 8 active lines!!! I'm looking forward to better customer service and treatment from Sprint who will right off the bat save me $$ on my monthly bill. They will be glad to have my account.
Sad story but it's true. The ending will be a happy one though! Sprint HERE WE COME!

I am  an new customer to verizon and received the standard router, the MI424-wr model (Fios qualtium. 75/25) and was intersted in more info about Verizon's new FiOS GigE Wireless N Router. how much would i be paying for it to swap for the current router i received from verizon when i signed up with verizon for FiOS GigE Wireless N Router?
The MI424WR Rev I is free if you have a 75/25 or greater plan.  (Or used to be.)  It is also popular and sometimes they are out of it and must give new customers a lower Rev model.
Call customer service and ask them to send you the Rev I.   If they are available you should be able to get one at no cost.   Don't bother with going to a Verizon store.  They can swap equipment, but they will not give you a model upgrade.

  • Verizon's new FiOS GigE Wireless N Router and High Speed Internet

So I got a deal in the mail to get an upgrade to [50/25] Mbps Internet (I currently have [15/5]...when I was reviewing it on line this message came up...
Verizon will provide up to [50/25] Mbps Internet with a wired connection. If you use your Internet primarily for wireless or WiFi connections, you have the option to upgrade to Verizon's new FiOS GigE Wireless N Router which will maximize your speed delivered through your wireless connection.
Upon completion of your order, you'll be provided with information for purchasing a router at Verizon's online equipment and accessories store.
I am VERY interested in getting super fast internet...my current internet is really good but it wouldnt hurt to bump it up.  I have several devices using internet in the home...most of them wireless (including my PS3).  I currently use a Verizon Actiontec router.
So here is my question...do I really need to get the above router to take advantage of that [50/25]? Also one other thing...My house is fairly large and I would really like to have two routers...is it possible to use two routers or a setup to have one upstairs and another downstairs?
Thanks in advance for the answers!

There are a lot of variables that affect wireless range.
Walls, interference, other networks in the area, etc.
You don't indicate which older Actiontec you have.
Wireless capabilities also vary by Actiontec hardware revision (A,C,D,E,F,G,I).
In general, wireless range for 802.11n is somewhat less than 802.11g, even though the bandwidth is higher.
This is especially true on the 5Ghz band (which the latest Actiontec doesn;t support).
If you only need another 10 feet, you could try moving the router, or replacing the antenna with a high gain antenna.

  • Signing Into Verizon Email, News Entertainment Homepage

Why can't I use the sign in for the Verizon Email News Entertainment page any longer? The only way I can sign in now is to sign in using the Accounts sign in and put go to Verizon Email News Enertainment page. If I use the sign in on the enterainment page I get a Verizon page that says this page is no longer available and a click here for the home page which takes me to the Verizon Enterainment page and I am signed in. Why am I getting the extra Verizon page with not much on it which states the enertainment page is no longer available. Sometimes I get the page that says website cannot be displayed. I might note that when I get the page that says the verizon entertainment page is not avaiable--click here for the home page I see that the browser has changed to &=truerememberme after the verizon.com. Also I can get into the entertainment page if I get the page not available message if I click onto the HOME picture at the top of my computer. But why the Page Not Available message page?

    Hello,
Could you provide more detail to the issue you're having so we can see if we're experiencing the same problem on our end?
    1) What are the URLs you're using for:
the 'Verizon Email News Entertainment' page
    the 'Accounts' sign in page
    2) What browser(s) are you using?
    3) When did you notice this change and has it worked fine for you before?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Verizon - The New Comcast!

    Well, now I HATE Verizon.
Last Tuesday (6/28) I called about getting a new DVR. The woman reviewed my account and talked me into upgrading to the Ultimate HD package from the HD Essentials and said I'd get the same movie package that I had ( I had Starz, Encore and Showtime) AND save me some money by tweaking some things.
For the box, she gave me the tech support number and said to tell them that the box doesn't do what I want it to and they'll send you a new box.
I called and told them I don't care if it's the new 7232 DVR I just want a new 7000 series whatever. He said "No Problem, all we're sending out is the 7000 series". I just wanted something that will let me hook a hard drive to when IMG 1.9 comes out without having to spend $40 to upgrade for the privilage of paying $20 in rent every month!
I called several times this past week inquiring about where the box is because know Verizon is usually quick about shipping. Everyone I spoke with said all is fine and it may take 5 days to get it.
Well, I lost half of my movie channels - no more Starz! No more Encore! Also, during one of my calls about the DVR, I was offered Starz Gaming and Internet Security. I said No. Turns out they thought I said yes and added it to my account. I had to call and cancel those.
When I asked about the status of my DVR, they gave me a number to call. They guy said we have no record of your order and to hold while he set up a 3-way call to billing. The billing woman said I'd have to go online and spend $40 or drive 35 minutes to Roxborough to exchange my DVR. REALLY?
It turns out that basically everything Verizon told me over the last week and eight phone calls are lies.
I never thought that Comcast would ever actually look good to me!!!

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you have been going through with the box and the subscriptions. I have sent you a private message to get more information on your account to get you taken care of.

  • Verizon iphone trade-in scam!?

I was surprised and infuriated this morning to receive an email acknowledging the receipt of my iphone 5 (appraised for $200 per Verizon's survey questions), and that I would be receiving a credit for $36!!!???  When I checked the reason for this, it states that the "phone won't power on."  THIS IS ABSURD.  I used this phone up until the DAY I sent it back... I followed their instructions EXPLICITLY... I even charged the phone before sending it back.  I took them WEEKS to acknowledge it was received and process it (no wonder it wouldn't turn on -  battery is dead!), and now I am getting scammed out of the value of the phone?  I immediately called the direct number for the trade-in department, where I was told I couldn't be assisted at that time, was told my complaint would be escalated and I should hear back within 7-10 business days.  I was provided a contact email for support and emailed them immediately with the details of my complaint - haven't heard anything back.  I am shocked by how this program is being handled... after reading other posts on line, it seems I am definitely not the only one.  I am requesting a credit for the FULL amount the device was appraised for, since there are NO defects or issues with it OR for my device to be mailed back to me IMMEDIATELY.  This has been a HORRIBLE experience and I have been a loyal customer for years... very disappointed.

happygojessie, It's surely not our intention to have you feel scammed in any way! Our Trade In http://bit.ly/GGnDDC team would be the best avenue to review the cause and provide details and options for the decrease in value for you appraised device. I'm glad that you were promised a contact back within 7 - 10 days. I'm confident this team will be able to fully resolve your concerns.

  • Beware! Verizon Trade & Upgrade Event Scam Alert

Do not be fooled into renewing a 2-year contract by the Verizon Wireless Trade & Upgrade Event like I was.
I purchased a new iPhone 5s because I would be break even with the $200 Verizon Wireless promised to give me for trading in my iPhone 4s.
However, Verizon paid almost $100 less, with no reason given on the gift card email, or the status page on their website.
I Worte an email over 10 business days ago, and I called over 7 business days ago. The email has gone unanswered, and the phone call was futile as I never received the promised return call.
The iPhone 4s I sent them had been replaced under Apple Care, and it was only a few weeks old. It was in perfect condition. I took photos to document (which I plan to include in my complaint against Verizon Wireless with the Florida Attorney General's office).
I am very unhappy with Verizon Wireless' unfair tactics in refusing to pay the agreed upon amount for a phone that was 100% perfect and had all the data wiped (including find my iPhone).
I am offended and insulted by the complete lack of communication and professionalism demonstrated by the complete lack of response by Verizon Wireless when I brought this matter to their attention in writing and over the phone.
I would strongly recommend an alternative to using Verizon Wireless' Trade & Upgrade Event, and I intend to follow up on this matter through all means at my disposal to ensure that Verizon Wireless does not continue to profit from its fraudulent behavior.

Sorry to hear about this. You should have sold it on eBay and fetched at least $200...

  • "New" iPhone Scam

My two year upgrade was available two weeks ago, so I went to my Verizon wireless store in Columbia, Maryland to upgrade it. I wanted an iPhone 5s 32gig, but they didn't have this in stock so it was shipped to my house. When I received it, I called to activate it adn went in to the new phone to restore my most recent backup from iCloud. At the step where you sign in to your Apple account however, someone else's e-mail address was already saved. I couldn't move forward and use my phone without knowing this person's password. I called the help line and they told me the only explanation for this was that Verizon had sent me a used phone, instead of the new one that I paid for. I went to the store to return it and now had to wait another week for them to send me a new phone. Let's hope this time that the phone is actually new and usable. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before or heard of this happening? I now assume that the "new" phones that we pay for in full are used and wiped to make us believe they are brand new.

No there's no way for them to install a virus.  The stories have it all wrong.  They steal info by the usual phishing tactic - you give it to them because you get sucked into responding to them.  When you responded, they have confirmed an active number and that you are a possible sucker for the next scheme.

  • Verizon Device Recycling Program--SCAM! DO NOT USE!

My flawless 32 GB iPhone 4S was appraised at $210.  I dutifully followed the instructions--deleted all the data, and turned "Find my iPhone" OFF.  I remember thinking as I was doing it, "I should video myself doing this as proof" because I knew how important it was for the trade-in value, but thought better of it because I had no prior poor experiences with Verizon and believed them to be a trustworthy company.  BOY WAS I WRONG.  After weeks of waiting, my iPhone got appraised at $17!  The stated reason? "Find my iPhone enabled".  I immediately started calling the worthless customer service line and have since requested several "escalations".  I received one email back from the "support" team, with the purpose supplying me with a photo of my phone's screen--but guess what?  No photo attached to the email.  I called customer service back again and they were able to read my the IMEI number from the photo that I never received--It didn't match my phones (Thank God I saved the original box!).  I am absolutely livid.  I either want my phone back (not going to happen customer service says!) or I want the full $210 credit.  This is such nonsense, someone in this magical "support" team should be able to actually provide customer service and speak to me.  Otherwise Verizon has lost a longtime customer and the BBB will receive another complaint (and from what I understand, there have been hundreds already).

We had a similar problem with our iPhone4. They both worked perfectly and were in excellent condition. We used them right up until we got our iphone 6. They were appraised at $200 each. I followed the instructions to the letter. Remembering to turn off find my phone and resetting the phone to factory settings to wipe any passwords. I even called Verizon before I mailed them to make sure they were deactivated. I was told that they are deactivated as soon as we turned on our new iphones.
However we got our gift card e-mailed to us for $36! I called to ask why and was told that our phones weren't deactivated. I explained that I made sure they were and I remember turning off find my phone on both phones. They said they would get someone from the factory to call me. No call. Still waiting! I wonder if find my phone was turned back on when we activated our new phones. I don't know but I'm sure I followed all the instructions before mailing the phones and Verizon hasn't given me a good explanation for why we only got $36 for each phone rather than $200 as expected. If I'd known this I could have sold them on ebay for alot more.
The only reason we continued to stay with Verizon was because of this deal. I was expecting $200 for each iphone that I sent. I'm now thinking of switching to Sprint as I heard they are buying new customers out of existing contracts.  So unless Verizon pays the difference or gives us our old phones back I think we will be leaving.

  • Verizon's New POP settings for Email

The probelm  I am having is with Apple Mail. In preferences there is no section for a port entry for outgoing mail. incoming is set to 995 and is working fine. The outgoing takes a long time to send or sends but acts as if it is stil trying. I never know what is actually sent until someone replies.

IF these work then the new ones will.  A quick look at the doc for the droid seems to show no way to change the ports.  Although the ports recommended are now common with many vendors, the smtp is not the now very old standard one. Note the pop port is the standard ssl port.

  • Cancelled postpaid acct. with Verizon, need new sim card.

I was foolishly set up with a postpaid data account through Verizon on my new ipad 3. I cancelled my acct. once I realized it was the pre-paid account I really wanted and I was told that I need to get a new sim card from Verizon now. I went to two Verizon stores today and was told that they do not have the right size sim card for the ipad 3 and that I had to go to the Apple Store. Went to the Apple Store and was told that they don't have any extra sim cards. Verizon Wireless 1800 number said they don't have sim cards either and that I had to go to the Verizon store or order one from Verizonwireless.com  I am so annoyed!!! Has anyone had this problem? Where the heck do I get a new sim card???

I disagree that there is nothing the ISPs can do
We appear to have embraced the email technology and ease of use these past 30 years without any review or concern. Most email is SMTP which is Simple Mail Transport Protocol. That’s the problem the word Simple. No security and no authentication. The ability to send emails using someone else’s address shows how basic it is.
To add to this most Email providers continue to facilitate it via basic user ID and password with the user ID invariably the email address so any hacker is half way in.
These phishing scams appear obvious to those that are aware but they catch X% each time. They would not do it if it didn't work.
Then there is us. We go to all the time and trouble of protecting our Internet banking details only to keep forgetting them. Registered with a site lately?. Clicked the forgotten user id or password button?. Yes all this comes back over plain text SMTP. Each email on its own may not mean much but to a hacker entering your increasingly large email storage they can see patterns and subsequently guess or discover likely passwords used elsewhere. We are creatures of habit.
In the early days of Email there were proposals for Secure Email yet the technology has simply been ignored in pursuit of ease of use. So there is something both ISPs and we can do but it will take all of us to understand the issues and how important this is becoming. SMTP Email is the Achilles heel.
    Some solutions
Closure of Emailing from other domains (i.e Talk21 emails must come from Talk21.com)
ISPs should be responsible for the Domains they host. They should also know their identity
Secure Email – Use of digital signatures to verify who is emailing
    Secure Email - Encrypted Email
Triple Authentication – something in addition to User ID and password such as token, mobile phone key etc.
Zonal filtering. i.e I only want emails from the UK or EU or validated DNS
Government to pass a law outlawing unsolicitated Email (not personal or without just cause or where the email has been obtained from a third party without consent)
I don't disagree with some of your comments, unfortunately there are a few items you haven't considered.
There are 1000s, if not 10s of 1000s of ISPs around the world. There are 10s of 1000s, if not 100s of 1000s of hosting companies around the world. Many, many are rogue. Many countries have no anti-spam or even anti-"illegal" hosting - many just take the money. There are actually a few friendly hosts in the UK. It is virtually impossible to get each and every one to adhere to "the rules".
You say talk21.com emails to come from "only" talk21.com domains - how do you actually police this ? How do you prevent botnets sending out spam "from" any and every known domain ?
Which Government are you referring to ? Spamming is already illegal in many countries, but that isn't the actual problem.
There are various of blocklists out there, and BT/Yahoo! does use them - e.g. the Spamhaus RBL. Many people use various similar lists of known spam friendly hosts and IP address ranges.
There are billions of spam emails sent daily, and if it was as easy as you believe to prevent it happening, then it would be already prevented.
There are millions of affected computers around the world in various botnets, and more and more are being infected all the time now that countries such as India and China are increasing massively in their connection rates.
Clearly each end user can do their own personal checks etc, but it isn't as simple as that. People will "always" fall foul to various dodgy schemes - even silly obvious one, because "it might be correct".
Many end users do not update their software, and many end users click on links and install stuff because it "looks safe" ......
I could go on for pages, and pages, but it wont solve the actual problem any day soon.

  • Verizon Edge Plan A Scam

I purchased a Galaxy S4 almost a year ago, and have paid over 50% of the cost, in fact I only have 3 more payments to go. I wanted to Edge up to a Iphone 5s. I tried to go to a Verizon Store, and they could not help me stating that even though my account showed I was on the Edge plan it would not let them process the upgrade. I then tried to go through the website, which would let me get to the point of purchase then no option to use the Edge at checkout. As a last ditch effort I tried calling customer service. After 30 minutes of getting put on hold, then bounced to sales they told me they had never seen this issue before. I was told there was some code they could use to override the issue, however the representatives supervisor had to do the research and would call me back in an hour. The call never came. I am at the end of my rope on this one, and definitely have no choice but to finish out the payments on this phone without Verizon honoring their supposed Edge plan. I have been a subscriber since 1999, but at this point I think I am just going to have to jump ship to another carrier that will honor their service agreements. I have never had this issue with Verizon before, obviously they just do not care to keep your business anymore.

A year ago? The edge plan went live in August 25, 2013 maybe that is why you cannot edge up.
Also now instead of six months to get a new device you can do it every thirty days.
Go to a Verizon wireless corporate store not a reseller

  • Deactivated Verizon Number, New Account

Long story short, I was on a plan with my sister. She deactivated my phone, and now I want to start a new account with my old number. I have an Apple iPhone 5, and the Verizon SIM Card with my old number. How do I go about making a new account with my old number?

Your phone number might already be recycled and no longer available for you. The best way for you to have kept the phone number was if your sister authorized to transfer the billing responsibility for your line to your own account through the Assumption of Liability process.

You can't tell, and it really doesn't matter.  You turned in a phone with a bad battery and got a like new phone with a new battery.  It has the same warranty period as your original phone or 90 days from the date of replacement, whichever is longer.
If a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received within the WarrantyPeriod, at its option and to the extent permitted by law, Apple will either (1) repair the hardware defect at no charge, using new parts or refurbished parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or refurbished that is equivalent to new in performance and reliability and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product.
