Version 4 Error: Expected Container, found Object Reference

We're in the process of upgrading our sequences from 3.5 to
4.0 and for the most part, everything is seamless. However, there is one situation I’ve found
that throws a RTE in 4.0 but works fine in 3.5.
When calling SetPropertyObject on an object reference, the following
error is thrown:
Parameter 'newValue': Expected Container, found Object Reference.
-17308; Specified value does not have the expected type.
Attached is a sequence snippet illustrating this
behavior. The last step should assign
the variable in Parameters with the name in TempStr (“Fred” in this example) to
the first element in the TraceObjRefs array (an array of object references).
What is really confounding is that this works as expected in
3.5. Any insight as to what changed or
what’s the best way to work around this?

We are seeing something similar in TS 4.1.
We have a container with subproperties which are also containers (of the same type actually). Technically, this is an array, we are using the container to be able to address by name. When I extract one of the sub-properties either by GetPropertyObject or by GetNthSubproperty and then try to assign it to a container of the same type, I get the error "Expected container, found object reference".
I attached a sequence with some experiments, using the NI_Limits type and found a solution: the Evaluate method seems to actually copy the values from the source container to the target; but only when it is not called as "PropertyObject.Evaluate()" but stand alone.
But I did not quite understand the mechanics of the aliases. In the sequence, I create an alias, as indicated in the previous posts. Then I can apparently not change that alias again. I used the "Data" member in the NI_Limits container to differentiate between the individual containers.
After the second SetPropertyObject, the value stays the same as before. But when I then change the value in one of the source objects, the other changes with it.
So I am not quite clear what an alias actually is and what its effects are.

I don't know if the error it's from windows or from any software of the Adobe. How can i solve this problem?

Well "Protector Suite QL" is some security tool and apparently it requires authentication procedures and blocks access to critical system routines. You need to fix that. Nothing to do with Adobe at all.

Error 1054 Open VI Object Reference

Hi Ppl,
I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 and I'm debugging a code that uses the Open VI Object Reference node. The parent reference thats passed in is a refrence of a VI instance and the vi object class is the control type. Though the control is present in the VI, the node returns error 1054 and says object not found.
I'm wondering why this was. However when the parent is the VI reference itself instead of the instance VI this works. I'm not able to understand the problem.

Hi Ravi,
Have you filled in the node_vbak1 with some elements? Lets say in a supply function or wddoinit etc.?
Just check that. After that, make sure you have IntializeLeadSelection property set to true for the node_vbak1.

BSP - 500 Internal Server Error Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.

Hello Colleagues, I'm new to BSP maybe someone could help me.
I’m taking data from a DB table through select an put them into htmlb tables.
The layout looks like:

we have already checked and maintain also.
but no use.
and this user moved to QUA and maintain Personnel number also it is working well in QUA.
but it is not working in PRD. it is having all authorizations also.
once we deleted user in PRD and then created in PRD assign all roles but no use.
we got same error in particular USER only.
and clear the cache in portal side and browser side also there is no use.
and PMS documentation update it.but no use.
what is missing authorization to particular user and how to solve this issue please suggest us.

Expected Object Reference?

Hello,
I am attempting to create my own version of modelsupport2.dll's parallel UUT dialog. (It will use the TestStand Sync Manager to enqueue requests just like the existing Parallel model's parallel UUT dialog does.) I am faced with a couple issues right off the bat that don't make a whole lot of sense to me.
For one thing, despite the fact that my dialog box (written in VB .NET by the way) is initialized in a sub-sequence of the TestUUTs execution entry point that is configured to run in a separate thread, the TestUUTs sequence still hangs around and waits for the dialog box to close before continuing on. (This is clearly a problem since the whole point is to have the main thread continually process requests while the dialog box on a separate thread is busy enqueuing requests...) Does anyone have any idea why that could be happening? Maybe other sequence settings that I'm not aware of?
Another problem I'm having (although I wasn't initially having this problem) is the following error message: "Expected Object Reference, found Object Reference". The error code shows "-17308; Specified value does not have the expected type". This happens in the .NET action step in which I call my .NET assembly to create the object representing the dialog. The object reference specified for the create object call is a parameter called CustomDialogRefParam - a parameter of type Object Reference. The TestUUTs execution entry point has a CustomDialogRef local variable of the same type, and it passes it by reference to the Run UUT Info Dialog subsequence... The idea was that the Run UUT Info Dialog subsequence would create the object, and from that point on, it would be available to the TestUUTs sequence. Is there anything fundamentally wrong with this idea, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing this sort of error?

Thanks for the feedback. I actually fixed the problem with the thread not operating independently, (although I can't say I'm completely sure why I needed to do what I did). The function call that starts the dialog is passed the sequence context from TestStand. In order to allow TestStand to continue I had to set the sequence context's thread to the "externally suspended" state. I can now get it to work in a very simple fashion. (Basically, all it does is open up and wait for the user to click the exit button. When that happens, the dialog uses the sync manager component to enqueue the appropriate requests to cause TestStand to stop all test sockets and exit the "process dialog requests" consumer loop. Only problem I have now, is that for some reason, if I put a break point in the sequence after the dialog has been initialized, execution on the main thread stops as expected, but then attempting to step into, step over, or continue cause it to just hang. (I can't even terminate the process - I have to actually close TestStand entirely.) So long as I don't pause execution though, it runs flawlessly.
I'm still stuck on the passing of the .NET object reference though. Oddly enough, it seems to work if I reference the object reference in a subsequence using the following syntax:
RunState.Caller.Locals.CustomDialogRef
But if I try to create an object reference parameter and pass the custom dialog ref by reference, it still fails with this strange "type mismatch"... I still can't find any solution that works for accessing the object reference from sequences that are started on a separate execution... Maybe I can store the reference in a station global... I hate using globals though - it goes against my idea of good programming.
Anyway, thanks again, and any additional suggestions are certainly appreciated.

Runtime error in WebDynpro - Access via 'NULL' object reference not possibl

 In the context area i have root node (WDSCREEN1) and Sub nodes are IMPORTING and EXPORTING and child nodes as shown above. When i am referring them everything is fine except T_REPORT.

Getting error on Portal : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible

While executing a bapi,I am getting this error : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
I am calling a bapi with only one required parameter from Portal as per the design of the bapi and the bapi itself is calling some other functions internally.
I a using ECC 5.00 i,e. EA-HR 5.00. On SDN it is suggested to Apply OSS Note 1018036. But it is applicable to EA-HR 6.00 and subsequent releases,I guess.
Need your suggestions and also need to know if the above Note can be applied to EA-HR 5.00.

Check that you have entries in the Table MARI. else you will get this message.

Object Reference Column in a SqlCe Data Table

This may be a strange question...
I've defined a table in a SqlCe database (using VS C#2010 Express) that will never have any data persisted in it. I did this so I can instantiate versions of it using the designer generated strongly typed table definition without ever directly using
the one that's in the database. (That may be obtuse, but it seems to work quite well, I don't need to worry about the database overhead, and I get all the documentation and code creation the designer provides).
I've now run into a situation where I'd like one of the columns in the instantiated tables to contain references to C# objects (always requiring casting of course to use them). Can I do that and, if so, what SqlCe datatype would I use to get a column
that can contain an object reference?

I'll admit to trying to cut some corners, which I'd like to do if there's a way that doesn't cross some .Net, Visual Studio or C# line.
As you noted, I do want to store a reference to the object ONLY during runtime. I can certainly use a List or a DataTable created for that purpose, which is really what I want to do. I'd like to use a DataTable that I already have setup
to store other variables, so that as I traverse it (e.g. using foreach DataRow), I can reference the object as well as the other variables using the foreach DataRow reference.
The trick I want to use is to define the DataTable using the VS database designer rather than manually creating the code that defines it. The designer is visual, easy to use, self-documenting, and of special note makes the code that uses
the DataTable easy to read because the resulting DataTable is strongly-typed. I should have more clearly exhibited in the sample code how I use the strong-typing in the line that sets myDataRow. It should read: "MyDatabaseDataSet.MyTableDataRow
myDataRow = myDataTable.Rows[I];", where "MyDatabaseDataSet.MyTableDataRow" uses to the VS generated strongly-typed DataRow definition. Note that the code does not store data in the database's
DataTable itself. It merely uses the database's DataTable DEFINITIONS to instantiate other tables.
I have used this approach when the all data in the DataTable is of one or more native C# types (int, decimal, etc) for which there are corresponding SqlCe types. However, I'd like to use it with a custom type (MyObject), if that's possible, and am
looking for what SqlCe type might work for that purpose, if any.
I admit that this may be an unusual way to create a DataTable definition. I'm not sure where I can up with the idea. I may have read it somewhere or just cooked it up myself. But I really like what the strong-typing provides (without having
to manually create it myself).
Is there any way to include custom types using this idea?

Reconstructing Object references

Im attempting to serialize an object which contains other object references, and then deserialize it back into a difference instance of the same java application. How can I reconstruct the object references inside my serialized object so that they once again point to the correct objects? I dont want to use any corba apis or anything like that, there must be some java native way of doing this (finding objects ie name resolution)...

You have to read in the serialized object and cast it to the serialized object type.

This restores the object back to its type.
If you are using Drag and Drop, I would suggest creating a new constructor that accepts the bean name, and reading the object from within it's class. You can then restore the models from the constructor

Field-symbols v/s Object references in OO-ABAP

can anyone please tell me what is the difference between using field-symbols and object references in OO ABAP? Is there a specific need for field-symbols now that we have references?

Please note that both Field symbols & Object References are different .
You can use Field symbols during the following situations
1) When you want to modify the value of internal table, the field symbol would be useful since you do not have to use any Modify statement as in case of work area. The Field symbol works as a pointer and any changes to the field symbol will directly affect the value of the internal table
2) Make sure that you do not reassign the field symbol within a Loop iteration
3) Field symbols are useful when you work with dynamic internal tables ( tables whose structure is determined during run time)
4) After Read an internal table ( Read itab...) into a Field symbol, make sure you do a Sy-subrc check or check if the field symbol is assigned.IF not this will give you a run time error
You can use Object References while creating an object to a class. They are instances of a class.

Delete Duplicates from internal table with object references

How can I delete duplicates from an internal table in ABAP OO based on the value of one of the attributes?
I have created a method, with the following code:
LOOP AT me->business_document_lines INTO l_add_line.
 CREATE OBJECT ot_line_owner
 EXPORTING
 i_user = l_add_line->add_line_data-line_owner
 i_busdoc = me->business_document_id.
 APPEND ot_line_owner TO e_line_owners.
ENDLOOP.
e_line_owners are defined as a table containing only object references.
One of the attribute of the object in the table is called USER. And I would like to do a "delete ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM e_line_owners", based on that attribute.
How can do this?

Assuming that the instance attribute is public you could try to use the following coding:
SORT e_line_owners BY table_line->user.
DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM e_line_owners
 COMPARING table_line->user.
However, I am not really sure (cannot test myself) whether TABLE_LINE can be used together with SORT and DELETE.
Alternative solution:
DATA:
 ld_idx TYPE sy-tabix.
LOOP AT e_line_owners INTO ls_line.
 ld_idx = syst-tabix + 1.
 LOOP AT e_line_owners TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS FROM ld_idx
 WHERE ( table_line->user = ls_line->user ).
 DELETE e_line_owners INDEX syst-tabix.
 ENDLOOP.
ENDLOOP.
