Very strange : Export from Organizer extremely slow

Today I came something strange while "exporting Files as New File" from the Organizer. I decided to report it, because the observation may point to a potential improvement.
In the Organizer (PSE V7), I went through File--> "Export as New File..." to export approximately 350 Jpeg Photo-Files (around 3 MBeach) to a USB Stick. I was knowing that writing to my USB stick was slow. But the Export Process was much slower than expected. It was ***extremely*** slow and after more than 1/2 hour, only 16% of the Photos had been exported. Also my PC (Windows XP Professional with SP3) was extremely slow in responding.
I therefore diced to kill the PSE Organizer.
Then I decided to 1) export the 350 Jpeg Files first to a Folder on my ***internal*** disk and then 2) to copy with Windows Explorer that Folder to my USB Stick. This was much, much more rapid.
From this experience, I get the impression that the "Export as new File" logic of PSE is doing something very vstrange and very inefficient ...something that could get probably improved.

I may not be having a snow leopard problem at all.
Going back to an old project in 1080i of an 8 minute length. the estimated time to render is about 50 minutes it says @20% of the way thru. Thats about 6x real time.
Maybe thats what I should expect. I was hoping for a significant speed increase in rendering times with the new OS. What is teh factor averaging for other people ?
I am rendering down to 720p multi pass 2320 kbit rate .MP4 in h.264
Maybe I have a settings problem in project properties in my other project.
I also got inspired and moved the render folders to a separate disk from the source files and put the caches on a 3rd drive. my I/O readings now are at 60 reads/sec.
Thanks for helping me work this issue out with you guys. Will keep you posted.

  • Export from FCE extremely slow after Snow leopard install

Instead of increasing my export times from FCE Snow Leopard has made them slower by a factor of ten. It is taking an hour to convert 3 minutes of 1080i to 720p !!!!! On an 8 core machine !!!
I am exporting 1080i to 720p with a bitrate of about 2000 for uploads to Utube. I tried using QT10 for export but I am not happy with the loss of control over my exports, it does work but not directly from FCE. The process called by QT10 is very fast and uses all 8 cores, but that process is not being called by FCE.
So at this point I wish I had never gone for the upgrade.
Lots of crashes with QT 7 during the open file dialogue and also same problem with MPEGStream Clip crashing on the file open dialogue as well after this OS upgrade

  • Reverted back to Maverick from Yosemite - extremely slow

I just spent an entire weekend reverting from Yosemite back to the previous operating system. This was the worst upgrade I have ever experienced with Apple. As it was, with Time Machine backup, it worked to restore but I lost files even though. I would like to know when will it be safe to upgrade if ever. I felt like a test-case for Apple.  I should have stayed with my system because it worked great before and very fast. This upgrade is not for everyone and I want to make sure people are warned. Some may experience nothing but good, but for me it was not!!
    my system: MacBook Pro
      Memory: 8 GB
    back to : 10.9.4
processor: 2.2 GHZ intel core 17
symptoms after upgrade to Yosimite: extremely slowness to crawling. Adobe creative software suite upgrades would not install and stalled at 42%
I fixed all that by reverting and using cleaner application from Adobe.

  • Export from Organizer with watermark?

Is there any way to include a watermark in files that I export from the PSE 11 Organizer or is Process Multiple Files in the Editor the only way to add a watermark? Thanks.

You can watermark the files in Editor using a brush. This is not a batch process.
First you have to make the brush with the information to be applied. Here is a tutorial:
    http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshopelements/ht/psewatermark.htm
Once you have the brush, you apply the information with a mouse click. Of course, the brush size
can be altered, the color of choisce can be selected, and you can apply in a suitable location on the picture. It's a good way to do it.
I suggest that if you want to have files both with, and without, the watermark, that you save as, and name them appropriately. You could save them in an album in organizer for export.

  • Load data from file extremely slow due to refresh

    Hi
I am loading a data from a csv file to an existing table in a PeopleSoft schema on Oracle 11G. The process works fine except that it takes an extremely long time. I suspect that this is because SQL Developer is refreshing the table list on the left hand side which for PeopleSoft 9 takes a long time because there are 65,000 tables in the schema. If my suspicion is correct it would seem a bit strange that I would need to refresh the table list when I am importing into an existing table. Can anybody confirm this ?
As a side note I have tried DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DICTIONARY_STATS (or something like that) but this has not improved the performance of loading the large object lists into the LHS or the object details in the RHS with PeopleSoft 9 - is there a way to improve this performance.
    Cheers
    Mark

There are many possible reasons for slow performance, not least the fact that sqldeveloper is probably inserting a row at a time. The best tool for this kind of job is sqlldr which is generally blisteringly fast.

  • PSE9 Organizer extremely slow - why?

I just upgrade to PSE 9 and have been extremely frustrated at how much slower Organizer is than
    PSE 8's organizer was.
If I F12 to compare photos and esc back to the normal view, it takes what seems like almost a minute just to get back with the hourglass (cirlcle thing) displayed showing it is processing something.  What on earth is it doing, I am just changing a view!
If I remove a file from the Organizer and the HDD, it too takes 2-3 times longer than in v8.
I am working in folder view, trying to re-establish all of my keywords that it lost in the conversion and it is taking forever.  I wish I had never switched and I sure wouldn't recommend switching to anyone until Adobe either fixes this version or gets is right in the next version. Definitely, not worth the upgrade to downgrade performance.
I am runing Windows7 Pro32, 2gb ram, decent PC with good graphics card, so it shouldn't be that and it isn't slow in other apps nor was it slow in PSE8.
Is there a setting I need to change to make it stop doing whatever it is doing that is making it so slow??
    Thanks
    ...Rich

I'm currently using Norton AV, and turned it off - no difference.
    Just measured some events:
    1) Hit F11 in Org to view img in full screen mode - instant pop-up. However, 2 min 36 sec to ESC back to thumbnails view.
    2) Used the editor to edit an image, creating a version set. Near instantaneous process in & out of Editor including creation of new version set file.
    3) Selected img in Org, hit Del, and it takes 2 min 45 sec to process.
I've seen similar slow behavior when moving images to diff folders, or adding new images and using the Show All key to get back to normal view.
What is PE9 Org doing???? Did not have this issue with PE7, so I can't blame my aging PC.
I have all those new features (Auto Analyzer, Filters, ...) turned off.

  • Export Data- csv Extremely Slow

I am using SQL Developer 1.5.1 Build MAIN-5440 on Mac OS X 10.5.5 and the Export Data=>csv command is taking 20 minutes to show the file dialogue window. The query takes the expected amount of time and once I choose to save the file the remaining records are retrieved and the file is saved quickly. Anyone know of a workaround for this bug?
    Thanks,
    Jason

As discussed above, there is a bug in the SQL Developer export (since the initial 1.0 release from what I have seen) where the query is executed again (just fetching the first 50 records - not all of them) before the export dialog is displayed. This means that if your statement took 10 minutes to query the first 50 records when you first executed it, then it will take another 10 minutes between selecting the export option and the dialog being displayed. If your statement took a second to query the first 50 records, then it will take only another second between selecting the export option and the dialog being displayed.
Ordinarily, I would suggest that you upgrade to the current version (1.5.3) from 1.2, but 1.5.3 has other problems with the export sometimes not working. The export problems in 1.5.3 are not in 1.5.1, but even 1.5.1 has the bug where the export reruns the query before displaying the export dialog.

  • Exporting to broadband extremely slow render

When I'm exporting a sequence to broadband quality it takes over 5 hours to export about an hour of video. How come its taking this long when I can export at full quality in only 12 minutes?

Think about it like this. You have a file that's 100MB, and you want to make another file in another codec that's 100MB. No problem. Simple transcode does it. Now you want to make a file that's 50MB. Takes twice as much work. Twice as much thinking and compression has to go on to reduce the file size. A lot of calculations have to be made to figure out how to throw out the data to make the file smaller. It can't simply trim off the last third of the movie. OK, now you want it to be 12MB. Now does it do that? A lot more thinking has to go into figuring out which bits of information can be thrown away and which can be preserved to make the file that small. The more compression you put into an image the more processing is required, the more calculations in determining pixels, and the more calculations the longer it takes.

  • Database export/exports are extremely slow

We run PeopleSoft (PeopleTools version 8.46) applications on Oracle 10g (10.1.0.3). database exports/imports were extremely slow, so when we contact PeopleSoft customer connection, we were advised to modify the init.ora file with the "_optimizer_cost_based_transformation=off". After we set the init.ora file, exports/imports are very fast.
What is optimizercost_based_transformation? will database performance have any effect by setting this parameter? Does anybody has issues with 10g export/import issues?
    any help?
    Thanks,

Here is the extract from PeopleSoft customer connection -
    . Required INIT.ORA Parameters for Oracle 10g
    . Change #1 - optimizercost_based_transformation=off
According to Oracle support: "This parameter controls whether query transformations (sub-query unnesting, complex view merging and push join predicate ) are performed using an algorithm that relies only on optimizer cost (new in 10g) or an algorithm that uses a combination of optimizer cost and heuristics (pre-10g). "
Can anbody tell me how extaclty this parameter will affect the performance of the system? Althoght we didn't see any performance issues right now (We are just in the process of implimentaion) Going forward, i am worried to have this im my init.ora file.
Any thoughts/suggestions related to this topic is helpful.
    THanks,

  • Equuim P40-10X: WLan reception is very good but extremely slow

    Hi
I have just bought a Equuim P40 - when I connect it to wireless broadband the reception is very good but it is extremely slow when it comes to load the pages from the internet - any suggestions as to how to rectify this ?
    Thanks !

    Hi
Its not easy to say why the notebook loads the webpages slowly.
Mostly the websites load slowly because of the big data amount.
If the pages use any flash animations or there is a big traffic on websites the serve could be overworked and the sites loads slower.
Also if the antivirus software is enabled and controls every data transfer the websites could loads slowly.
As you see, many different factors can affect the page loading!

  • W530 Extremely slow...

So, ever since I got my lenovo thinkpad W530 (about 1 year ago), it has been abnormally slow...  It also has very alarming glitches with Windows and closes programs randomly...
Today, it has become so slow that it took more than 4 minutes just to open a program.  Opening the internet took about 2 or 3 minutes...
Regardless, it is EXTREMELY slow for such an expensive laptop...
    My scores and specs:
    Processor sub-score = 7.7
    RAM sub-score = 7.7
    Graphics sub-score = 6.6
    Gaming graphics sub-score = 6.6
Primary hard disk score = 5.6
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz
    RAM: 16.0 GB (15.6 usable)
    System type: 64-bit
I scan my computer all of the time (also JUST finished running a scan) and there are not any viruses...
Previously, I only used Microsoft essentials for virus protection...  I had a virus on my conputer about a month ago and my roommate had me get anti-malware Malwarebytes which detected roughly 200+ threats...  I do not have any threats anymore though.
How do I stop my computer from being extremely slow and crashing all of the time??

I have a very similar W530 (but with only 8GB of RAM, as my needs don't justify more). I assume you have the K1000M graphics as I do, though you may not be using it 100% as I do (with "discrete graphics" set in BIOS, as well as OPTIMUS DISABLED).
I do not use Intel built-in graphics at all, as my laptop is plugged in to AC power 99.9999% of the time and virtually never runs on battery.  Even when on battery it's only for limited periods (i.e. at most perhaps 2 hours), so I just leave "discrete graphics" set permanently to avoid any hassle. I never run out of battery before being able to plug it in again to re-charge, so who cares?  Might as well always get best graphics performance if battery lifetime is not a factor.
Also, I also use an external 24" monitor (miniDP->DP, 1920x1200) 99.9999% of the time (i.e. whenever I'm working at home).  So again, I want best graphics performance and quality, hence again "discrete graphics" in the BIOS and OPTIMUS DISABLED.
I've also swapped out the original 500GB spinner drive with a Samsung 512GB 840 Pro SSD.  This has provided a very nice and significant and measurable and observable overall subjective (and objective) performance improvement.  Well worth the cost.
So, my WEI numbers (with W530 plugged in to AC power) are somewhat better than yours:
    Processor sub-score = 7.7
    RAM sub-score = 7.8
    Graphics sub-score = 6.8
    Gaming graphics sub-score = 6.8
Primary hard disk score = 7.9
Note that for an honest and accurate score, running WEI should be done with all your other onscreen and background apps closed, else they will "distract" the whole process.
Also, you might check your Power Manager "Power Plan".  Since I'm virtually always plugged into power, I don't mind using "maximum performance".
Finally, if you say that your malware scans are finding lots to vaporize, I would suggest very strongly that you go through steps 1-7 of this "excellent recipe" for "disinfecting" your system... at least one time, if not every few months.  Note that it includes a scan of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (as step #3 of 7), along with using other well-known and well-regarded products which each look for a unique category of possible "infection".  This is not just anti-virus scanning, this is anti-malware scanning as well (e.g. to find and eliminate browser hijackers and other nonsense that plagues your internet browsing experience).
I myself run both (a) Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus, and (b) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium as my anti-malware.  The "premium" (i.e. non-free, but very reasonably 1-time priced) version of MBAM provides realtime regular database upgrades for up-to-date continuous protection (including against unknown "phone home" access from malware to malware IP addresses), rather than just supporting on-demand scanning.  Well worth the one-time charge, in my opinion.
I've had my W530 since April 2013.  The SSD upgrade in January 2014 was a terrific decision.  I am extremely satisfied with my machine.  Performs beautifully, and don't see any real difference from my desktop machine.

  • Very strange aMule behaviour

    Hello all,
ever since I've upgraded my system (pacman -Su) I get very strange behaviour from aMule.
I see nothing on all of the panels that list stuff (for example search results or even shared files) -- this is despite that aMule counts these items - it simply doesn't show them. (for example it says Shared Files(2))
I guess something messed up with the wxWidget that does the sortable list stuff component or something?
    Rotem

Without knowing the code, can't say for sure, but it sounds like the buffer was never cleared on your server.
Typically, a client does not send data over the network until a buffer is full - then it sends the entire buffer. The server typically won't read (input.isReady() should return false) until it's receieve buffer is full.
However, if you kill the server/client processes and restart them - it normally would clear out the buffers - as java does automatic GC pickup.
Try adding a gc() to the termination of the server, and also try making the clients flush() their output streams before closing the connection.
    Let us know what happens.

  • Importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow

importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow, the system has i7 processor and memory is 64 gb and has internal raid storage. what could be the issue.

If you would like to test the tuning and setup of your Premiere installation go to our Premiere Pro BenchMark PPBM, the Instructions page has the download file.  This single download can test Premiere 6, 7 or 8 with the identical benchmark.  We maybe able to tell you why you are having problems.

  • Adobe media encoder extremely slow VS export from Premiere,Why?

I am exporting a 30 min AVCHD to QT NTSC DV widescreen. When I sent it to AME it was taking an extremely long time,it said it would take 8 Hours! When I put it to export straight from Premiere it only took about 25 minutes.I have CS5 on my laptop and it did not have the same problem when I sent it to AME, it only took about 20 min. I tried uninstalling CS5 and reinstalling but that didn't work. This is frustrating because I need to export a lot of files in different formats. Anyone know what can be causing this
I also tested this exporting in other formats such as MPEG2 DVD and it has the same issues.

If you queue or export from Premiere the resize will be done by the Mercury Playback Engine (ie the nVidia card does that grunt work) which makes it A LOT faster (like 4-10 times).
If you drop a file into AME directly it's done by the CPU.
    Is that what you're doing?
