VGA BIOS Updates

I wish that someone Would Get MSI to get rid of the video BIOS flashing with live update. From what I know it don't work never has and probably never will. alot like the active X and install from the WEB witch don't work for $hit.

Been telling them that for a long time but they tell me that most folks normally don't have problems and that it is user error.  I see probably a couple of bad BIOS flashes for VGA in a month but I'll bet there are some going unreported or most aren't experiencing problems.
It's the inquisitive ones or the misinformed that end up shooting thier foot off.
Trust me, I'd like to see it go away too, but this is really not worth discussing as it doesn't seem to be a problem for them.
If you want to start a rant thread, about Live Update, then do it in AUS, maybe they will see it then.
No offense Boot but I am going to lock this one down, I got a bad feeling about this one.

  • VGA BIOS UPDATE

I have a MS-8866 Geforce4 mx 440 card. I am wondering if there is a vga bios update available. I still have the one comes with the card(I think 07.00T)

I recently used the live update software that came with my card and it said i could use a new VGA bios. Cautiously i continued by the letter and now I have a computer with a G4MX440SE-T that doesn't work. If any one out there knows a fix I'll will forever be grateful!

  • Where is msi vga bios update for GF4 Ti cards?

It seems like many other card vendors are updating the bios on their GF4 cards for better performance. My friend got a nice performance boost on his winfast from a bios update. Everytime I search on MSI Live Update (I have to update Live Update...whats up with so many versions of a simple download utility) it says there are no vga bios updates for my GF4/4400. I read on these forums that .25 (I think) was a disaster and trashed everybodys cards. Is there news on an improved update?

Msi are going to be last, and then if they release new bios for G4Ti cards.
Don´t you now they suck, I would sell my card right now if I could.
I'm using Asus DVCR for TV because Wincoder with my version did not support full screen window.
I got fantastic stupid tips from MSI support, because my MSI-CLOCK and 3D!Turbo don't work.  And it still not work with XP.
If I had 1$ for hour that i had spent to this card trying to let work right.  I could get better card from other vendor.  I will never get anything with MSI stamp.  I'ts better to spent more money and save time for better thinks.

  • Failed vga bios update

I used the liveupdate 3 to update my vga bios and when it rebooted the computer the videocard wont work now.  I flipped the twinbios to the safe mode but nothing happened.  When i put my old card in it works fine.  Any suggestions?

Nope, I don't think so, not on the Dongle unless MSI is doing something I do not know about.
The Jumper is located on the card itself, please refer to the manual for the location.
If you have flashed the wrong BIOS:
The MSI cards have a dual bios feature.
Move the jumper to 2'nd position (there is only one jumper on the cards).
    Boot with the secondary bios
Move jumper back while system is up and running
Use live update again (the backup bios is not being overwritten since you moved the jumper back).

  • VGA Bios update problem

I keep getting the error "Can not find the VGA BIOS State." when ever I try to update the bios.  I can't find any information about it anywhere either.

Do not try to update your VGA BIOS, it is not like a motherboard. Live Update has been known to render cards useless. Consider yourself lucky, you may have had a brush with death.
Take a look or do a search of this forum and you will see what I mean.

  • What's with updating VGA bios? Is this necessary if your hardware is fine?

How much improvement does it do really? Does it make the images look better? Does the fps improve fignificantly, if at all? Does it make the card cooler? Some treat it like a wonder cure. Is it?

VGA BIOS update is only issued to address a particular issue, you should only update it if absolutely necessary!!
Updating your VGA BIOS won't make your card faster, run cooler, or make images look better. But if it goes wrong, it will make your card dead!

  • K8MM-V 7142 updated vga bios

i have a couple of system using k8mm-v board which has VIA/S3 UnichromePro IGP, recently we have upgraded most monitor to 17"/19" Wide screeen LCD, here the problem come, the onboard vga bios does not support those wxga resolution like 1440x900 or 1650x1024, google around found this is related to vga bios issue, not driver. i have updated those system to ver 1A bios, vga bios seems remain the unchanged. is there any service/beta bios available to fix this problem? tq.

these are only low end sempron powered (tats the whole point for all-in-one board) office station which only do basic office documents/spreadsheets work & internet browsing, nothing more nothing less. pretty no point buying new display card for this. even a 5 years old 845g onboard display driving the wide screen lcd without any problem (their vga bios updated with driver though).

  • Does MSI provide Bios Updates for 8800GTX?

Do they provide bios updates fpr the 8800GTX?

It's the same problem as 7 month ago.  I'm not sure if i postet the problem here, so I describe it once more.
When I'm running bios 7.20 on my mainboard everything is fine (I'm running bios 7.20 for 7 month no with no problem, so the PSU (BeQuiet 550W) can't be the problem)). If I change the bios to a higher or a lower version my Windows XP looks like this:
    http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/5262/041000011rv2.jpg
It doesn't matter if I reinstall VGA driver or use the windows standart one, it always looks like this.
Vista gives me a bluescreen bevor the Desktop shoud appear.
I knew to other guys who have the same Mainboard and also have a 8800GTX (ok, twice times other brand but the cards themselves should be equal). The only differnce is that they have a higher VGA-bios version, for example eVGA has Provides an VGA Bios update for the 8800GTX but they don't say what esspecially is fixed.
So far everything is fine, using bios 7.20 is ok for me, BUT I now want to buy an Intel Q6600 CPU and for that I need to upgrade at least to 7.50.
So Maybe MSI has a newer bios for their 8800GTX which solves the problem. I'm sure that it is nothing else. Windows has always been fresh installed, VGA driver is always the newest one (Did I say that the Windows VGA driver doesn't work to on XP?) and with bios 7.20 I have no problems, I can play, work, everything so I don't think it's a hardware fault.
The only differnce between my Mainboard + Graka and the Mainboard + Graka from my friends is the VGA-Bios version. So I thought this must be it.
I poorly can't try another 8800GTX at my mainboard because they won't give me her cards.

  • BIOS update for MSI NX7900GTO?

    Hi-
I was having some stability problems in Linux with this card, so I wanted to check for a VGA BIOS update as I've never updated it.
The card model is NX7900GTO-T2D512E.  According to the sticker, the BIOS is 5.71.22.39.13.
I couldn't find anything on the MSI site.  Does anyone know if this is the latest BIOS for my card?
    Thanks!
    John

Like Bas said, never update a VGA bios, they dont need updating.
Its most likely a driver issue, NVidia isnt known for supporting Linux OS'es very well.
And Linux peeps cant tweak the driver since NVidia uses closed sources i.e. you cant tweak/write it like the code from Linux, so they are bound to have  a few errors.
All you can try is different drivers and see if that resolves anything.
Look here for old/beta Linux drivers:

  • Problem Updating my VGA BIOS

    Hello.
I am having a problem updating my VGA Bios.  I can download it, buyt when I go to install it, I get an error and it tries to send to Microsoft.  It has something to do with the VGA Bios Flasher.
I have a GeForce FX 5900 TD-128.  It shows the bios there, but has a problem installing the new version of the bios.  I am not sure why.
Is there any reason why this is happening?

I am surprised there is even a BIOS revision for that card.
Generally there is no reason to update the VGA BIOS unless you have an exact reason to do so. If there is no documentation to support this from the vendor then I woould not touch it with a ten foot pole.
I have explained this in several posts already, if you'd like to search for it.
Perhaps it's a good reason that it won't work!

  • N560GTX-Ti OC problem after update VGA BIOS with Live Update 5 | SPLIT

Hello there. You people say the latest BIOS version for 560 OC is 201, but mine is totally different: 70.24.0a.00.00.
And I experience strange stuttering in all of the games. Maybe BIOS upgrade is needed?

Could you please give me the password for the attached file (201ti_Svet.rar)? I'm having occassional freezes with my GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC (system completely stops responding while display and sound freeze and it takes around 5 seconds for the PC to respond to reset button). This happens, for example, under Windows 7 in 3DMark11 Deep Sea Demo and in Windows XP randomly, but most often in web browser when watching Adobe Flash content with hardware acceleration enabled? I sincerely hope that BIOS update will help. Thank you in advance.

However if you need BIOS update prior to have some RAM or GPU working fine (or other stuff), then maybe consider updating to 1.6 and then to 1.9 and finally to 1.B (1.11). I suggest using MFlash (files can be downloaded on MSI's product site, instructions should be included). For Forum Flash tool you need proper files provided (usually) by Svet or Flobelix.
Before attempting to flash, make sure your system is stable!
I downloaded BIOS 1,5 and 1,6 and in both cases i have same issue it stucks on 100% on M-Flash, after this I can normaly shut down pc and it work but witch 1.4 BIOS. I just want know whyi can;t
    updtate.

  • MSI z77a GD80 PCI-e running at 8x and Bios update problem

Hi guys, first of all, sorry for my bad English, this is also my first topic, i recently bought a new PC, the spec is:
    i7 3770k @4,3ghz
    Corsair H80
    MSI z77a GD80 bios 1.2
    GTX 680 lightning
    8gb ddr3 1600mhz cas9 G.Skill
    1TB HDD WD Caviar Black
    Asus xonar DX
The problem is, since the first bios, i can't run my PCI-E at 16x, i know when my card is idle the PCI-E goes to 1.1@4x , but when it's in use, it turns to PCI-E 3.0@8x   , I'm also waiting for bios updates to check if it solves my problem, but when i try to download the new version 1.3, the download fails ( I'm trying to download with Live update 5 )m is there somebody that can help me solve this problem pls?
    I've tried until now:
Replace the card into the first PCI-E slot again
    Clear the PCI-E slot
Update to bios 1.1 and 1.2 ( 1.3 is not even downloading )
Set PCI Gen 3 from Auto to disable, and it keeps running with PCI-E 3.0@8x
    Thx for any help !

As per the manual, the VGA must be in the primary slot to run 16X. BIOS setting for graphics 3.0 should be set to Auto.
    Do not use Live Update for BIOS updates. Too many borked boards are the result. Use the forum's USB method;
      >> Forum Flash Method <<
Just curious. If I installed Add-on card that run at PCI-E 4X on 3rd slot (2nd slot is empty) what's configuration will apply ?
