Video and data on same DVD

Hi. I've heard it is possible to mix a standard video DVD with a DVD that has data on it. (Mulitmodal? DVD) Basically, you create a DVD with the TS folders for both audio and video. In addition, on the root directory, you can create a folder that has data on it. So if you right click and choose open, you can see the files.
I can see doing this through some of the more sophisticated authoring programs, but I love a few of the templates iDVD has. So my question is, can I create this format with iDVD? Maybe author to a virtual disk, add my data, then use Toast to actually burn the DVD?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Mark

You'll be happy to find out that iDVD will handle your challenge without any fancy footwork. The feature you're looking for is DVD-ROM Content, and you'll find an option for that in iDVD (Edit DVD-ROM Content) on the advanced menu.
Naturally, this reduces space for your video productions, but it's a great place for sending the original photos, some background in Word format, or really any electronic file. Only computers can access this data, and they need to do it through Finder on a Mac (PCs shouldn't have any problem either).

Can I save both DVD-R and DVD-Video files onto the same DVD?

    Hi Stan,
I just want the user to be able to run my video clips either on a
computer or on a standard DVD player. It would be nice to include both
formats on a single disc. I am new to this and am not sure what format
is most widely used for standard DVD players. Thanks for your response
and any guidance you can give me.

  • Synchronize Video and Data - DIAdem Version?

Which version of DIAdem is needed to sync video and data playback?  Can I sync two videos at the same time with one data source or does it have to be one video with one data source?

  • Jpegs and Movie on same DVD?

This may sound like a stupid question and I am new here...but, is there a way I could include a set of piks that can be downloaded onto a computer and using the same DVD to show a movie I made on a regular DVD player?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rob

You should check "dvdrom content" in the DVD inspector within DVD SP. Then it lets you select the directory (choose) from which you want the content (including jpg's for example) included. What I do is to select a directory which contains my photo directory so I get a new folder on the DVD called something like "Photos."
Otherswise you get lots of files at the root level on the DVD which is confusing to users. For example, I have a folder on my hard drive called "DVDROM" and it contains a directory called "Photos" which is where the actual jpgs are.
    It works perfectly for me.

  • I need a program that I can download home videos and burn to a dvd

I need a program that I can download home videos and burn to a dvd to watch on TV.

I don't know what you mean by "download home video" but there are several DVD burner apps in the MAS. Just search burn DVD and you'll see them.

  • Why do my videos freeze when I try to sync video and data?

When using DIAdem 2010 to view synchorized video and data, it always works well on the first playback.  But then on subsquent playbacks the video will freeze while the data keeps playing.  I'm using MP4 videos.  I'm thinking it's not related to the PC - we just upgraded to a machine with a Quad i7 processer and 16GB RAM.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Is there are a particluar codec the video should be saved with?

  • Synchrosnised video and data acquisition

I am a Labview user who would like to capture video and data (from one video
camera and 4 strain gauges) simultaneously, then be able to play the video
whilst being able to process the data streams. Is there a simple way to do
    this? - Thanks!

I use Imaq for Labview to do the image acquisition, while using a traslation
system. It works. The Motion controller is controlled by Labview too.
    (RS232)
It doesnt seem u need syncronization from ur mail, maybe just a simultaneous
acquisition. In this case it's very easy.

  • How to Slice Video, and Audio at same time

    Hello Everyone.
When I click on Control K, it dose create a Slice in my Timeline, I want to create a Slice for my Audio as well,  at the same time.
But every time I Slice a Video, and when I want to delete the Slice portion of the movie that I cut, the audio is still there, and I have to use the Razor Tool to select the cut portion under the Sliced movie.
    Thanks
    Simon.

    Rod,
Through CS3, Ctrl+K worked on all Unlocked Tracks. With CS4, things changed a bit, as one could now Target multiple and even none contiguous Tracks. Ctrl+K still functions the same BUT now only affects Tracks that are Targeted, so no need for Locking them anymore. This has not changed with CS5.
Hope that this helps - it was changed as of CS4.
    Hunt
PS - another workflow in CS3 and before, is to do the Crtl+K and then just ignore the Cut in some of the Clips, and just Alt+clicking on what you wish to remove, leaving the others alone. Though there is a Cut, one does not have to concern themselves with them, unless they wish to. Personally, I like the CS4 and later way of doing it - saves that Locking/Unlocking, or having to Alt+click to do things. However, I am a lazy sot.

  • Possible to have both HD and SD on same dvd?

    Hi there.
I was wondering if it was possible to have both a HD1080i60, and a DVNTSC on the same dvd?
The DVD is a standard def dvd, but i would like to have a "Extras" section, which would include a couple of HD clips.
    Is this possible?
Do i just need to make the HD seqeunces 16:9 ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

rom content? what exactly does that mean, and how would i go about doin it?
I just want to have a bonus section on my dvd, that includes HD versions of edits that are SD letterbox on the actual movie.. So the whole point is to have a the bonus section show that those edits look like in actual HD, not letterboxed...
    So is this possible?

  • Recording Video and Audio at Same time with simultaneous sync

I want to record a keyboard performance into garageband and at the same time record the playing of that performance with my video camera. Then I want to create a movie using the music from garageband and the video from the camera. I was thinking that if I can sync the video and audio when I'm recording the session, then that part is taken care of. Or, maybe this is easier than I think it is?
Is there a way to do this so that I can use the garageband record performance and have it synced to the video on the camera?
I don't want to use the audio from the video camera because the performance that is captured in Garageband will be much better and I can do editing of the individual notes in GB.
In the end, I just want to make a movie and/or podcast of the performance.
I'm a newbie regarding this, but I did search the forums and couldn't find anything specific. Mostly it was about importing video into GB3 and then syncing new audio. I'll basically have audio and video from the same performance in two separate locations and I want to bring them together perfectly in Garageband.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Powerbook G4 - DVI   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Okay. I got the video and audio all together. I told you I'd link to it when it was up.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxssYpUNJm8
There's also a copy of it at http://www.myspace.com/bonjimmy/
And as a quick side comment, even though I uploaded the same video to both YouTube and MySpace, the MySpace version is much better. YouTube must do something to the video after it's uploaded.
What I learned doing this project:
I recorded the video first (which gave me the sequencing of the piano performance) and then I dubbed the audio in later. However, there wasn't a good way to sync the video and the prerecorded piano, so there are some spots where the dubbed audio vocal isn't accurate to the video. I'm not sure what the pros do for this. I was hoping I'd remember how I sang for the video but when a couple weeks go by before re-doing the audio, it's about impossible. I tried, though.
I remember working with an old 4-track and smpte to a sequencer a long time ago. With the way it is now, it's pretty cool that you can record digitally and mix and match and everything falls together perfectly as long as you have a place to match the video and the audio. It's pretty cool.
    What else???
Does anyone have suggestions that would have made it better? Also, if you have suggestions on my performance or whatever, I'd love comments, but you can do that on the linked page.
Thanks again for all your help. (The point of the video is because I'm thinking about getting back out there and doing some more playing... I'm looking for a band or something else interesting...)

  • Combine OS and Data on same RAID 5 array

Our company is buying a new Xserve to replace our first XServe with 4 drives. Currently, we have the XServe set up with two RAID 1 arrays - one for data and one for the OS. Given that the new XServes no longer have four drives, we are trying to decide how we should configure the new RAID. We are thinking of going with a RAID 5 using all three disks. I would like to know if combining the OS and data on the same RAID array is contrary to best practices. Any perspective appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tim

Like so many thing - 'it depends'.
There is no one 'right answer'.
It depends largely on the application - what does this server do?
It also depends on the volume of data - how much data are you planning to store?
It also depends on the importance of the data on the machine, as well as backup replication and failover processes (if any).
Then you can add them all together and work out the cost/benefit analysis of the options.
For example, if you're running a database on the machine, you probably don't want RAID 5 at all.
If you have a robust replication and failover plan and can tolerate the entire machine crashing due to a failed disk, you might not care since you can run on the backup/failover until the machine is restored to production.
If data integrity is your primary goal and you don't currently have a backup plan you might opt for RAID 1 boot/data and the third drive as a hot spare or backup disk.
If this is your only machine you might benefit from using RAID 5 regardless of the application, but that only addresses one of many possible points of failure.
As you can see, there are so many variables the 'right' solution will depend on your particular circumstances.

  • Import video and audio from a dvd into FCP

Is there an easier way to import video and audio into Final Cut Pro - I am playing it on a DVD player and making a digital tape of it. Then logging and capturing it into FCP.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Yes, there are a few ways that are faster. Have a look at this thread http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=3465691
You could use software, such as "streamclip", or import by plugging your camera into your capture device and hooking your capture device into your computer and capturing by non-controllable device settings.
    Good Luck

  • Lack of voice and data at same time is killing me

after using a treo 750 (WM 6.1) on att for the last three years I guess I didn't realize the benefit of having ATT and gsm in general.  There are plenty of downsides...mainly pricing for single accounts (however their family plan was directly on par with sprint's).  I am constantly trying to use data apps while talking on the phone to no avail.  I started off just thinking I could do without, but a week later, I still really really miss it.  My wife does too...as it is her I am usually giving directions or other web information to while on the phone.  There was nothing like google map's satellite view to help someone verify they are at the right place..."see a large tree on your right with a tall brown building behind it, yep that's the one"   Anyone else have this feeling?  Wifi isn't an option for me most of the time.

Voice and data simultaneously is not available while using any CDMA network due to network limitations. This is true for all types of phones, not just Palm or not just the Pre. Your example of checking email or using google maps, the gps data may have been stored before activating the call. try browsing the web while making a call, and try to go to a web page you've never visited before, so that you know it can't be a cashed version of the page.

  • Burning music and video as data files onto DVD-R?

How can I (using what program) burn music and videos to a DVD-R on my MBP? To be clear, I just want to use the DVD's as storage, not to watch them on a DVD player
Thanks (and sorry for the potentially stupid question)

Put a CD-R in your optical drive. Drag the files you want onto the disk icon and then drag the disk to the trash. That'll burn the files onto the disk. Real simple.

  • Component video and HDMI at same time

Does anyone know if the AppleTV HDMI output and component video output are both active at the same time? (I want to send one to a plasma and the other to a projector, but I couldn't get anything out of the component output until I dosconnected the HDMI).

I think it would be too easy for us consumers if it worked as it should. I'd like to be able to set independent resolutions for Component vs HDMI AND have them both active, but it won't work like this. Bummer.
As to your problem, HDMI senses whether it is attached, and if it is attached, it takes precedence, disabling the component outputs. A simple albeit kludgy solution to your problem is to unplug the HDMI cable from the ATV when you want to use the Component outputs. (As your troubleshooting suggested... )
