Video Coversion

I am having problem converting files so they can be uploaded to my Ipod.
I have spent hours convertin my AVI to MOV files using quick time and they appear in my movies bit in itunes easily. The issue comes when I try to convert them for use on my IPOD.
I get the following message "Error Occured while convertin the file. You do not have enough privelages for this operation. iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your music folder and folders in your music, then try converting this file again."
I store my music on a networked drive I access via AFP (dont have enough room on my laptop).
I have checked the permissions and the folder and sub folders are set to read & write. Itunes doesn't have any issues copy files to the folders when it imports music or videos just when it try's to convert them.
Any help please shout.

One way you might check to see if it is an issue with the networked drive is to start up iTunes so that you can create a new library...
How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
Now create a new library on your internal drive. Now use File -> Add to library... navigate to the networked drive library and pick those same videos which will then be copied to your new internal drive library. Now try converting them from the internal drive library. If it works then it must be something about the networking.
For now you can switch back to your old library and File -> Add to library... the newly converted versions on the internal. Afterwards you can kill in the internal library if you wish or just leave it for the next time you have an issue like this.

  • After Effects Installation error: Invalid Type Context

I am currently working with Creative Cloud CS6 After Effects on a Windows 7 Toshiba Satellite, Core i3. I've been having trouble opening the program suddenly. I thought it might be due to a plug in which I had been trying to get working with both my After Effects and Premier (which works fine btw) to use to read a specific video coversion file (AVS). It didn't ever work so I unistalled all the plug ins I could find, uninstalled After Effects and reinstalled it. Then I started getting the error "Invalid type context" and AE would crash. I've uninstalled and re-installed twice and still cannot get AE past this error.
Edit: Got a chance to write dow the info message after the error:
"After Effects error: Crash in Progress. Last logged message was: <1588> <ae.blitpipe> <2> Making new context"
I've looked for help in the FAQ and also done a couple searches in the forums, but found no topics about this type of error. Any thoughts?

    1. I've uninstalled all files pertaining to AVS conversion from my computer.
    2. I've given After effects full permissions through my windows firewall and McAffe too.
    3. I've reinstalled twice since my first post.
    4. I've stopped Adobe QT32 from running while AE loads.
    5. I've run the program as an administrator and tried running it configured for Vista OS.
    6. I've removed all preferences and cannot find any folder for AE preferences in my AppData folder.
I'm still unable to keep the program from crashing as it initializes the user interface (farther along than before). I'm still getting the Invalid Type Context file. It brings up a save project option, which I haven't tried as I haven't gotten far enough along in AE to have any work to save.
I did get this detail report in an attempt to diagnose the problem:
      C:\Users\Darci\AppData\Local\Temp\WER3C3.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
      C:\Users\Darci\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2104.tmp.appcompat.txt
      C:\Users\Darci\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2EBB.tmp.mdmp
I really need help as I'm at the end of all possible suggestions for this type of problem.

  • Digital to Analog Coversion-Write to Video

I am running FCE, and have no problem capturing video from my VCR via a canopus advc-300 device. However, I am trying to write to video and record a sequence onto a VHS tape, and I keep getting an error message that says my tape is write protected. I know this isnt the case....do i need to change any settings on FCE to allow me to record my sequence to a VHS?

    Couple of thoughts:
    1) Make sure your audio is mixed down (Sequence>Render Only>Mix Down)
    2) I've often found that I have better success with these kinds of outputs if I make a Quicktime reference movie of the project, import that, and play it out of the Viewer while recording
    3) What kind of connection are using to go from Canopus to deck? VHS ...S-VHS ... I guess, just make sure you have your cables going out of the box and into the deck. The deck should be on before you even fire up your project
    4) Under the View sub-menu, you should have it set to NTSC device

  • Trying to convert video made in iMovie from Mp4 to M4v so I can burn to DVD downloaded Aimersoft video converter but not having any luck

I have downloaded a wedding video done on my iPad and put it in iMovie on my MAC.  Have spent many hours refining it and now want to burn onto DVDs for other family.
When I did this same thing 4 years ago, I had one-to-one help at apple store and saved the video in M4V format and it was not a problem to share the video.
Now this video is in Mp4 and I need it in M4V - that is what the burning devise tells me.
I downloaded a video converter, but it didn't seem to make the coversion.
    IDEAS?

Have you tried this -> https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/free-mp4-converter/id693443591?mt=12?
It's free at the Mac App Store...

  • Sound in video not in sync

I just recently purchased Lenogo DVD to Ipod coversion software, and it converted the videos BUT the sound is faster than the movie. IS there any way to fix this problem? Also, sometimes the video jumps and a little choppy. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try using this free Windows app.

I have had good results with it on most video formats.

  • Video playback error 8100 Pearl

Hi, new to the BB family, great board. I'm trying to view video I download on my media card.  It is the .avi format, so I thought it should work ok. The video is from a casio camera, only 8mb, and it is recognized on the handset in the media card video folder, but when I select play, I get the error message.  I'm leaning toward thinking I have a coversion problem, but not sure.  I'm going through the BB desktop software "Media Manager" and I select the "convert for optimum playback" option. Is there an easy way to convert these short .avi clips to a readable format?  Is there any software recommended for this?  Thanks

Try resetting your iPad by holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears then let go & let the iPad boot up normally.
If you still get the error, uninstall then reinstall the Uverse App.

  • Problems setting up video chat

I have an AIM account and use it with iChat and my friend has a .mac account that she uses with iChat. When we tried to set up a video conversation, it sends the invite and one of us accepts it starts to set up the video conversation. Then it stops and on her comupter is says "could not start becasue (her name) did not respond" and mine says "could not start because (my name) did not respond" when the coversation was initiated on one end and accepted on the other.

    Hi ees86,
You state here you are using a OS level that is below the point where Apple introduced you seeing the error log.
You are having what people on 10.4.7 and above are referring to as the Error 8 problem.
This is about ports not being open as the simplest cause.
Check the Mac Firewall (System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall tab.
If it is On then set the ports as the second pic here
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html
Also check how you have those same ports opened in your modem.
If you are using Port Forwarding then it is likely the device is doing NAT as well.
There can be conflict with the way different devices do NAT.
If you have UPnP then switch to that.
It might be only one of you has to change
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page15.html#CertainBuddy
Test with test accounts as well.
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html
If you have a modem and a separate router both should not be doing DHCP (Distributing IP adddreses to your LAN) as this causes SubNets that overlap.
Also iChat does not like it if two devices both do NAT based port openings. Use UPnP where you can.

  • Video name not showing

Hopefully a quick fix for this.  I converted and copied a bunch of mp4 files across to the TouchPad, but I can't tell what each video file is because no file name is displayed.  Did I do something wrong in the coversion, or is this a bug?

Yes, it's a bug.  Been reported already, and hopefully the first OTA update will squash it!

  • Exporting to web size Quicktime video from FCP Problems

I have run into a problem...
A few weeks ago and checked my Software Update and noticed that their was a newer version of Quicktime, so I installed the update and now have the newest version of Quicktime. Every since then, when exporting to Quicktime using the Export - Using Quicktime Coversion commands. The Use settings have changed. They are now...
    LAN/Intranet
    Broadband - High
    Broadband - Medium
    Broadband - Low
    Dial Up
    Dial Up - Audio Only
    Streaming - Medium
    Streaming - Low
These are the choices I have now after updating my Quicktime. They have changed since before. With the older version of Quicktime, I used to be able to select the highest quality option, LAN and get a very good picture and a decent file size. For example, a 2 minute 16 second video was 16.5 MB.
Now when I go to export using the LAN setting, it takes forever and always seems to start at 7% completed, saving that less than a minute until completion, then it slowly savs, 2 minutes until completion, 4 minutes etc. until it says 45 minutes.
Something is wrong and I don't know what. Please help.
    Thanks

Well I did a search of the forums and found this infomation...that Compressing as H.264 means that only people with Quicktime 7 can view the movie. I checked my compression settings and indeed the default compression setting I was exporting with was H.264.
What was the compression I had before I upgraded to Quicktime 7? I think if I switch my compreesion to this from H.264 my problems could be solved.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Iphoto crashing after using mini-dvi to video adapter

Hi, IPhoto on my Macbook is crashing. I can open it, then as soon as I scroll down it locks up and I have to force quit.
This started happening right after I used a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter cable to hook my macbook up to my TV. The adapter/s-video connection worked and I was able to see the video on the tv. But iphoto immediately locked up the computer when I went to slide show and now it locks every time I open it.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you:)
    Dorothy

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Wrong 'mini dvi to video' adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33

I recently bought the M9319 mini dvi - video adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33 to find that the mini dvi on the adapter is a different size to the one on the computer and the adapters supplied with the computer.
I've been doing a bit of research into this and it seems a bit of a grey area. Apple have not made it clear in advertising this product that it is only suitable for the newest 12" Powerbooks and even state that it will work with a 1.33 machine in their following article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86507
Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggest an alternative product that will work? Did Apple make an older version that works with the 1.33?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Graeme.

Just took the adapter to my local Apple store and they identified it as a mini VGA to video adapter - not what it said on the packaging!
I've noticed a few posts with this problem, so just double check before you leave the store that the packaging matches the product.

  • Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter - do you need cables as well?????????????

Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter
i have this already, but do i need a certain cable to go into the TV. as it only has one port instead of the usual 3 av leads have???
    help please,confused...............

Look in your question and you'll find the answer...
Apple mini DVI to Video Adapter
...the usual 3 av (audio/video) leads...
DVI is video only so you only need one port... if you were hooking up audio and video you'd need three (1 for video - 2 for the left/right audio channels)

  • Macbook + mini-DVI to video adapter problems!

    Hi,
My roommate and I both have Macbooks - I got mine in June '06, it's one of the older black 80 gb models and hers is a white 120 gb that she got in August '07. We bought a mini-DVI to video adapter so we could watch DVDs and video files on our TV, but have been having some trouble with it lately. At first, it worked perfectly with her computer, but in the past few weeks has been malfunctioning - when she plugs it in, the default background shows up on the TV screen but nothing else, any windows she has open only show up on the TV if she drags them to the right on her screen until she can't see them on her computer anymore, so we're unable to watch anything fullscreen. Any tips on how to fix this?
Also, the adapter has never worked with my computer - any time I plug mine in, my computer display becomes enlarged and slightly distorted, and on the TV screen is distorted by horizontal lines that move up and down the screen. Any ideas here?
Thanks so much for the help!

    Hi cbeth,
    welcome to macbook forum.
For your friend macbook, try to press F7 back and forth to switch between mirror and expanded mode.
Try to update your macbook hardware firmware and software using software updater and repair permission after that...application/utilities/disk utility/repair permission.
Also reset your PRAM and PMU.
Open your friend system preference / display and try to compare and set yours similar to hers, including resolution, color depth, refresh rate.
    Good Luck.

  • Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter for eMac ?

    Hi,
I use an Apple Mini DVI to VGA on my eMac to expand my monitor space, connect to an old Pinceton 15" lcd, both are on 1024 x 768 res in millions colors, and work fine.
My question is I have plan to buy an Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter since some of my project require a transfer process to an old vcr or Sony TRV-27 mini dv cam.
Would the adapter compatible for my eMac mini DVI port ? because eMac is not mentioned as apple compatible for this adapter at apple store, yet there is a review said it work great on ones eMac.
Anybody else using this adapter that would share with me ?
    Thank you.

look like it is indeed an apple mini vga adapter that I use, and now I need an adapter that allow me to connect to a TV, VCR or Mini-DV camcorder.
will that Apple Mini-DVI to Video adapter compatible to my eMac. Or do they have mini-vga to video adapter on aapple store.
    Thank you any information.
