Video looks Blocky, Blurry, Fuzzy in AE (1280X720 29.97fps)

Im trying to make a montage of gameplay I have recorded of myself playing PS3 the files are .m2ts, so im using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 to cut the video into clips so I could then export them into AE (After Effects).
So it can make it esier to work with other than cuting the video in After Effects this way I have all my clips organized the way I want.
The way im doing that is by going over to Export --> Media --> with these settings Format: QuickTime Video Codec: Photo - JPEG Quality: 100
Now I open the rendered .MOV file using Windows Media Player and everything looks flawless nice video quality is not gone.
So then comes the AE part now my clips are ready to be mastered and added effects to so I go into Import --> File --> and choose my .MOV file which I have exported from Premiere Pro
But for some reason my video looks Blocky, Blurry, Fuzzy real low quality which is not what I want I have it set on Full and yet it looks horrible.
It looks like AE is having trouble opening the video properly or something in the settings is wrong but from my point of view the composition matches everything from the clips: 1280X720 29.97fps
Here is the picture of how my video looks on After Effects as you can see the text is wierd looking and in the settings you can see I have it on 100% and Full
This next picture below is how it looks on my Windows Media Player as you can see everything looks way nicer
Now this last image is the settings that come up on AE so that you can see my video has the right settings
If anyone can help me out with this I would really appreciate it I know there has to be a solution out there!
Thanks in advance

I recommend you read this for starters and then work your way through thze AE help, including the topic relevant here.

  • Video import is blurry/fuzzy

Hello. I am trying to build a safe file for my home videos from Sony AVCHD camcorder. When imported to imovie 11, the movies lose quality. Interestingly, when I imported my old movies from a dv cassete recorder, the movies look excelent.
By searching the web, I learnt the problem is that the modern cameras compress the files, so that after importing we lose quality.
My question to the forum is how can I store the files? Is there a solution? Can Final Cut Pro help me?
I am not a professional, just trying to safeguard these videos.
Thank you very much in advance,

    this might help / http://www.aimersoft.com/convert-avchd/convert-avchd-to-imovie.html

  • My DVD's video looks a little fuzzy

I have noticed that the DVD palyer on the Macook pro dost not have crystal clead DVD picture,,,Is there a setting I am not on that wil make the picture look better??????

Slam down a few "Jack Daniels" and it will clear right up!
Try running the videos via VLC and see if they look the same. If they do, it may be an issue with your screen and/or video circuit.

  • MPEG source video looks fuzzy on DV sequence

Please excuse my inexperience, but I would like some advice. My school just purchased two JVC Everio GZ-HD7U cameras, and we are using CS4 for post-production. We shot some video, copied the video .TOD files to my computer, used JVC's software to convert to MPEG, and loaded the video into PP.
When I preview the video in the source monitor, it looks great. Really crisp, good color, etc. When I create a Widescreen DV 48kHz sequence from the preset and drop in this clip, the video looks very blurry in the Program window. However, when I make a sequence from the HDV 60i preset, the video looks just as phenomenal as in the source monitor.
Here's the properties on a typical source video:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 302.7 MB
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;03;13;04
Average Data Rate: 1.6 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
I assumed that since the video was shot in 1440 x 1080 that it would look fine when resized to 720 x 480 (DV). What is the reason that it looks so blurry? I noticed that the "Fields" dropdown on the HDV 60i preset shows Upper Field First whereas the DV preset shows Lower Field First; is this a reason?
    Thanks for the advice,
    Matthew

Quality aside - process related question. I have an HDV sequence on the timeline in PP cs4 which I "Send to Encore" with Dynamic Link.(All updated to latest level) I open Encore and set the project to DVD with the default settings. The clip is imported into Encore and I edit the Transcode Settings > Export Settings Presets, I set Format to Mpeg2-DVD. Under Basic Video Settings I select Widescreen 16:9. On Source I select crop and crop 12 pixels off the top and bottom. The Output Crop Setting is set to scale to fit. I Select OK and name the preset Test. On Exit I set the Transcode Settings DVD Transcoding Quality Preset to the preset Test. The Video is transcoded but the crop settings are Not applied. Should the crop setting should be applied (Dynamic Link bug)? If I export thru AME with the same transcoder settings the crop is applied.
    Thanks.

  • Edited video is exporting blurry as matched source, but looks great in the monitor before export?

I've pulled in 5 videos and clippled them up to create a 50 second reel showing short segments of each. The video is for an HTML 5 embed on a website so it's at an odd size (235x162).
Everything looks great when viewing the editable composition within Premiere (and I've tried this in After Effects as well), but when I go to export the video ends up blurry no matter if I match the source or fiddle with the settings.
I'm guessing something is going on due to sourcing from multiple video files that are in different wrappers and codecs? If so, why would I be able to edit so cleanly (and render in program), but cannot export at the same quality??
If it's the codec issue, what's the best format to convert all of these to if it's exporting to an HTML 5 video (if that last part even matters)?
Does anyone have experience with the best settings for exporting .mp4 h.264 for web use? I want to get this thing small in file size, but still good quality.
Here's a rundown of the imported videos I've been clipping up assuming its an issue with one of them (audio does not matter, we're not exporting it):
    MPEG4, AVC, Variable rate, Progressive
    Quicktime MPEG-4, AVC,  Progressive
    Quicktime MPEG-4, AVC, Progressive
    MPEG-4, AVC, Variable rate, Progressive
Quicktime MPEG-4, Sorenson 3, Not progressive but I'm not seeing what it is
    Thank you!

    Hi Collin,
Try 1 pass VBR instead of 2 pass VBR in the encoding settings.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevin

  • My YouTube video looks blurry using Adobe Media Encoder

Im trying to upload a video to YouTube but the video always turns out blurry and pixilated regardless of what settings I use in my Adobe Media Encoder. I shot the video on a Sony 1080i HD camcorder, I know YouTube reduces the quality but I expect my images (ie peoples faces) should still be clear enough to see but that hasnt been the case. I went to the following site for guidance but I still cant get it right.
    http://www.squidoo.com/youtuberight
Here are my settings that I thought would make my video look great on YouTube. What am I doing wrong?
    H.264 format
    Frame Width (pixels): 320
    Frame Height (pixels): 240
    4:3 Aspect Ratio
    30 frames per second
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 Pass
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 0.344
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 0.64
    MP3 audio
    Drogba

I heard sometime ago that YouTube converts everything uploaded to
Flash or FLV format. I have not used the iPod format for this purpose in CS3 but Rick has obviously found that it works well, however, I would recommend using Adobe Media Encoder to FLV and set it to 320X240 with no more than 1MB/sec bit rate to maximize quality and minimize file size since it's not going to be larger than that on Youtube.
The FLV raw file will be ecoded using VP6 or Sorenson's older version courtesy of PPro CS3 unfortunatley, but I feel the best codec to use is 264. Why PPro, especially CS3, does not offer this codec is unkown. That could be a reason why Rick's videos look good and that he may have shot them in HD. But then again, HD to 320X240 would seem to be self defeating. iPod format is indeed, believe it or not, 720X480. If you have published anything to the iTunes store, this is a required format which is not optional as it is with Youtube.

  • My Video look blurry and Pixilated in Premiere Elements 10

I am starting to work on a new video using Adobe Premiere Elements 10.  I just purchased a new Toshiba Satellite L855 laptop.  It has an Intel Core i5-2450M Processor running at 2.5 GHz.  I have 6 GB of RAM and over 500 GB of free space.  I am running Window 7 with 64-bit operating system.   The files I am placing in my video are MP4 Video (.mp4), MPEG  Movie Clip (.MOD), and Video file (.wmv).  The videos look great when I play them on my computer, but when I import them into Adobe Premier Elements 10, they are blurry and pixilated.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm not sure, but I think I know the answer.  And, I have a very similar computer.
Is there a red line above the time line?  There should be when you are using multiple file types.
When you start a new project you asked for a "project preset".  PrE10 uses that to make preview video for the editing process.  If there is a mismatch between your preset and the first clip you bring into PrE10, it asks you to change so they match.  With three file types, it can only be right for one.  When you bring in clips of the other two types, PrE10 has to "preview render" in order make the monitor previews run smoothly.  It does not do that automatically.  It puts a red line above the clips that need it.  Then anytime you press the Enter key, it will stop everything and "preview render" your content.  It can take awhile.  But, after that, your preview should look better.
You didn't say what the target output will be.  When you work through to the Share menu and select what you are going to make, PrE10 goes to work doing a "final render".  That's because what is needed for a Blu-Ray is different than for a DVD or posting to YouTube is different than making video for a website.  The "final render" starts all over and uses you project as markers and paths to your original clips.  It goes though frame by frame and makes new frames using the "final render" settings.  And, it can take its time doing it!
Unless you buy a super computer, you may have to put up with a little less than perfect in the preview window.  The real test is how the final output looks on the device you want to use as a viewer.

  • Why does my video look a wee bit fuzzy?

Hello! I just edited up some highlight clips of the Paramus vs Hackensack (for you NJ people!) football game from last night in Premiere Elements 4. It looks great on my computer (filmed with a Canon GL2), but when I put it online, it was fuzzier than I had anticipated:
    http://www.rivals.com/uploads/1123/692780.wmv
Here is how I saved it:
    1) I created the clips in Adobe Premier Elements.
    2) I used the "share" feature.
    3) From there I put it on the "Windows Media" option, as the Flash option has never worked for me.
    4) I saves it.
    Any ideas?

Well, do note that a WMV file is only about 1/4 the resolution of your original video, so there's going to be a lot less clarity. Also, WMV files, because they're made for streaming online, are compressed -- which means that scenes of lots of action (such as a football game) are more challenging to produce than scenes of static images.
But, having not seen the original footage, I think your video looks pretty good for online video!

  • Blurry/Fuzzy Videos

My exported work is turning out very blurry/fuzzy. For the web, I was advised to use the export settings
    Format: h.264
Preset: PAL DV Widescreen High Quality
This is just to find out if there is a similar or an equivalent kind of setting when exporting to tape for TV for a sharper quality videos.

    Yes, these are DV-AVI's
The blurry/Fuzzy is as seen on TV when broadcast by the TV channel, even though the picture quality is fine when I play it on TV via the camcorder at work.
Initially I thought the blurry pictures were from the channel/station until I realised my cameras (Sony HVR-Z5 Camcorder), though not the best for broadcast is of better quality than that of some of the other programmers who don't seem to be having this issue.
I'm wondering if there is something more I could do.

  • Help with exporting. Video looks horrible after export, but great when in premiere pro

Hey guys, looking for some advice on exporting.
When I finish a video, the color and everything looks great while in premiere pro, but after exporting it, the color ends up looking dull and the whole video looks blurry.  I'm filming with a canon vixia hf200 at 60i. It imports as a AVCHD file, I deinterlace it, and then export at the Vimeo HD settings. What can be causing the video to look horrible after exporting? What settings should I be exporting under? Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like you're coming up against some of the colorspace handling issues that the Premiere pipeline has.
Since your source is 60i AVCHD it's HD and thus rec709 colorspace. If it gets encoded with the standard rec601 colorspace (SD sizes are this) then all the colors get crushed. Look for a "709" and "601" radio button in your export settings. If it's not there you're out of luck.
The "blurry" is probably a poor quality de-interlacer. If Vimeo permits interlaced vs progressive do that instead. it's always cleaner to stay in the same video format all the way through.
    TECHNICAL ASIDE:
rec709 is a triangle of possible colors that can be expressed by mixing of ratios of 3 emitters (the R G B corners of the triangle). (they are the RGB phosphors of a CRT and now LCD pixel elements)
rec709 is a bigger triangle than rec601 so it's capable of more colors. but if you accidently map that triangle's corners to the coordinates of rec601 it gets crushed.
In photography the "sRGB" uses the rec709 triangle. A bigger triangle that that is "Adobe RGB". So if you work in Adobe RGB and export to sRGB without conversion the colors get crushed because sRGB in inside the triangle of "Adobe RGB".

  • Cs6 3D axis widget showing up blurry/fuzzy

My 3D axis widget was showing fine( solid, clear, and visible in front of the mesh I was working on), but now It has started to switch between normal and Blurry/Fuzzy( as if it is sitting behind the mesh and the whole scene). It is very difficult to see sometimes and even more s to access it. Does anyone know of this problem,  and if so, how t correct it? Also any troubleshooting advice would be helpful too.

You probably have updated/ changed something in the driver. Undo those changes and everything will be back to normal. Otehr than that you could be working at a document size you haven't worked before or invoked some setting or tool you never used before that may trigger the behavior because it's beyond your graphics chip's limited capabilities...

  • Windows 8 Blurry/Fuzzy Text

    Hi everyone,
I recently installed Windows 8 and i noticed that the screen puts a lot of strain on my eyes compared to Windows 7. It seems like the screen/text is blurry/fuzzy a bit putting strain on my eyes. It is not as crisp as it was in Windows 7. Almost too powerful?
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I bought an Asus laptop with a 1920 x 1080 resolution 15.6" screen and windows 8 and I find the screen is tiring. The laptop has an i7-4700HQ cpu with onboard gpu and a separate nVidia gpu for higher demand games and applications.
There is some Eye strain with this laptop. I have suspected:
    1) the small text as I am entering presbyopia world at 44 this year, or;
    2) perhaps it is the pwm way that led backlights are controlled in lcd screens.
    3) I've heard windows 8 and newer text is problematic.
I do change the scaling of the text in windows on the laptop, and in apps like Google Chrome and IE, but that does not worsen anything. Scaling isn't worse, it only makes things bigger and easier to read, which seems to help, but I still get tired looking at
the laptop screen. I have Clear Type on and without it, things look worse. I have tried various brightness levels. The text on the laptop seemed to look nice at first. I thought it looked "smooth", perhaps because of the high resolution of the screen
(it is non-reflective matte). I suppose that is because of the higher resolution. In reality though, I find I am straining to focus on it. It seems oddly soft.
What I don't understand, is why is it when I connect my older 17" lcd monitor to the laptop and use that as the only display, the text in windows 8 on that monitor is also blurry, and worse than it was when I used the 17" lcd display with my AMD64 desktop with
    XP Pro.
Is it the display card or windows 8? Not sure what to do.

  • N96 - Media key - Pics look blocky

    Hi folks,
On my N96, when I hit the media key to bring up the rotating menu and go into photos / pics most of the thumbnails
look very blocky, blurred and pixelated and still look blocky when I click on them to bring them out as such.
The original files look fine, if I copy them back over to the PC they look as they should do.
If I go into Photos from the menu I have the same problem.
I have no idea what's caused this, it's almost as if most of my pics have lost resolution somehow.
Any ideas? This is really annoying.
Nokia 5800... probably the best Nokia I have ever owned.

    Hi,
Did display lose the quality of resolution in every case or only when you see pictures. How's with video, with screen.
1.If yes, I suppose this can be a displays failure and you should go to Nokia Service.
2.If not, try with software: default settings, soft reset, update - if it doesn't help go to point above.

  • Does anyone know why timeline videos can go blurry when they were clear and sharp just a few hous ago?

    Hi everyone,
I imported some fideo files and I turned the to slow motion (50%), and then video quality to Optical Flow. They all looked great in the timeline and viewer theese last few days but today, after using 2 monitors for 20 - 30 minutes, I switched back to a single monitor configuration. The I noticed that the timeline videos looked blurry and, whe I played the videos, they flickered in the viewer (which they didn't before).
This is what the timeline looks now (and preferences are set to high quality):

    Hi,
The computer is a Mac Pro with a 10.6.8 OS and an Eizo CG243W. The second Monitor is a 19" BenQ.
I connected both monitors again and checked that both configurations were correct. I fact, if the configurations had been changed, all the screen would look blurry, not just the time line (or so I think)

  • How can I get audio to play from my TV when using hdmi cable?  Video looks great, just no sound.

How can I get audio to play from my TV when using hdmi cable?  Video looks great, just no sound.
I've tried plugging the hdmi into the TV directly and the receiver.
I get video every time.  HBO to Go , Xfinity, ABC, Youtube, etc...
    just no audio.  Any suggestions?
I've tried starting the apps then plugging in the hdmi cable.
I never tried this before I upgraded to IOS 5.

    Claudiamil-
I had not tried it with mine since upgrading to iOS 5, so I just did.  I'm using a small Vizio HDTV.  I did not try YouTube, but did try several videos and musical numbers.  In all cases there was sound, including stereo when the source had it.
I assume you are getting sound from the iPad when the adapter is not connected, so the volume is not turned down.  Dah*veed's suggestion to reset may be what you need.
