Video Overlay with the TV

I am trying to get my macbook to play video out to my TV through the Video Composite adapter.
I can make it clone the desktop fine but that is not what I am trying to do.
With my matrox G400 card on my PC I have been able to play full screen video out to the TV while keeping the video in the player area on the desktop window. I've been able to do with with default settings on my PC since 1999.
Here is a link which demonstrates the options in video overlay settings.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/matrox-g550.html#sect2
What I am trying to do is called the Dualhead DVDMax mode. Of course I realize this is just what Matrox calls it. My nVidia card also does it but under a different name.
Does anyone know how I can make this happen with my macbook?

what do you mean not a valid function "anymore"
was it once possible on the mac and now it's not?
this seems unlikely.. i hope...
It does not work for me to "mirror" because my macbook screen resolution is much more than my television. Why should I have to reduce my macbook to a 640x480 mirrored just to play a movie on the TV? Why can't I play a movie and let my kids watch it in the other room while I continue to work on another program the way that I can with my old PC?
Also my television is in the other room so if I were to drag the video window over to the other monitor I can no longer see it in order to full screen it or whatever. the window is usually much bigger than the screen if i try to drag it across in "spaces".. but this isn't the right thing either.
I wish I knew the technical term for what I am trying to do. "video overlay" i think is too broad and there must be a more specific terminology for *full screen video playback on secondary video when played in a window on primary*
anyone know what it is?

  • If you have a video in camera roll on the ipod touch is it only videos taken with the actual ipod or is it possible to transfer videos from your computer to the camera roll?

If you have a video in camera roll on the ipod touch is it only videos taken with the actual ipod or is it possible to transfer videos from your computer to the camera roll? The ipod touch was bought in feb. 2011

You can transfer videos from your computer to the iPod Touch, but not to the Camera Roll.
The Camera Roll is for temporary storage only - for photos/videos captured by the iPod Touch and for photos saved from a received email or from a website. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.

  • Airplaying videos taken with the ipod touch recorder

Has anyone had trouble getting their videos taken with the touch to show on the TV using Airplay and an AppleTV? Everything else works (movies, utube, music, etc...) but not the videos I have recorded using the touch. Anyone know the fix?

Be sure to access the Camera Roll from the Photos app instead of from the Camera app.

If you are talking about this...
    http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?productid=10015&deptid=1003
    Or the black model.
    Then yes.
I am using my 5G iPod with video with that model.
To prevent damage to the dock connector on your iPod, you may want to get this...
    http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?productid=10016&deptid=1000
Keep in mind that I am using it with the newer models of that model. (Mine had an iPod nano compatible sticker on it and came with a remote). I would imagine that it works fine with the older model of that one as well.
But yes, if you are talking about the iH5, it works :)

  • Can I keep videos created with the trial of Captivate 6?

I installed the free trial and thought I read something that I would not be able to keep the videos created with it. Is this true? Is there any way to save something, like the .cp file, so that the work done during the trial isn't for nothing? Thanks!

    Hello there,
If you are working in Captivate Trial, after you will save the project ( .cptx, .cptl or .cpvc), then you can open that in captivate anytime, it will not be wasted (Captivate Project will never Expire).
But if you will publsih something (.swf or .mp4) with that project in Trial Version, then that published output will be expired after 30 days of the date of creation.
You can open your that project (.cptx, .cptl or .cpvc) created in Trial, in the full version or subscription version later, and publish the project, then that published project will last forever.
    Thanks.

  • Still images interspersed in video all with the original audio

I have what I think should be a very simple task. I have a 1 hour video of a school show. I want the soundtrack to remain intact. I simply want to take still images and replace the video images for certain chunks of the school show. The result should be a smooth original audio with the original video interrupted for 4-5 second periods with other images. For a bonus, it would be nice if the stills cross faded to the original video (without affecting the audio).
I have been trying to get the precision editor to let me do this and cannot get it to happen cleanly and reliably. I keep getting the audio duplicated or dropped audio. And if I try to add cross fades it is even worse. The help video on the precision editor does not make it clear to me how to do this.
In some PC programs, I know you can split the video independently of the audio and then delete the video clip and replace it with a still image. It does not look like iMovie is that intuitive.
If there is another way to do this, I would love to know about it.
    Please help.
    Thanks

In iMovie Preferences, make sure you have turned on Advanced Tools.
Drag the photo to the video frame where you want it and drop it. When a pop-up menu comes up, choose Cutaway.

  • Can you video chat with the ipad in a venue other than face time

I want to video chat with my moms new iPad but I cant get facetime on my mac... Please help

    Cashintze-
As Roaminggnome suggests, the iPhone version of Skype works well on the iPad.  It can be expanded to fit the screen, but the picture is slightly sharper at the smaller size.
I understand there are also video chat Apps from Google and Microsoft.

  • Exported video, issues with the PAT/PMT

We are trying to export video for use on a cable TV system.  When I try to bring the video into the system, it fails with the follwing error.....
Import Failed: (FAIL: Unable to find a valid PAT, PMT, or PID described in the PAT/PMT)
We have tried to export the video as an .mpg, and .avi, and a .ts file.  I am not sure if this is a Codec issue or if there is a setting htat is being missed when we are exporting the file.
Has anyone had an issue like this and if so what was the solution?
Thank you in advance for your time.

I have no idea what those parameters are, but I'm pretty sure there are no user setting in any Adobe software to control them.

  • Video Capture with the iMac

Hi. Not quite a computer nerd so bear with me please
I purchased a Kaiser Baas VHS to DVD video capture thingo the other day and really wanted to use it on my 20" iMac (at the time with Mac OS X Leopard) with my PS2. It's a Empia USB 2861 device? Am I right?
So I installed the driver it came with connected it to my iMac, connected the PS2, opened up Empia capture (that it came with) and I got some nice video capture BUT NO SOUND! When I go into the sound settings of Empia capture, the device doesn't even come up in the source list. So went through a million forums on the net and discussions and couldn't find anything to help me.
So then.... I looked at my beautiful new 13" MacBook with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Plugged in the Kaiser Baas video capture device, installed it, connected my PS2, opened up Empia Capture and found some nice video capture AS WELL AS SOUND TO GO WITH IT! Perfect exactly what I wanted.... BUT on a 13" MacBook.
I really want this all on my 20" iMac. So then I thought... maybe it was to do with Leopard and Snow Leopard, so thought I might as well upgrade to Snow Leopard on the iMac tisn't thaaaaaat expensive.
    But still doesn't work.....
    Anyone know what's going on?

I have no idea how to help you, but I thought I'd point out that you posted your iMac question in the MacBook forum. <G> You may get more responses if you post [here|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=132].
    Good luck!

  • Unable to move videos taken with the iPhone from the phone to PC

I am having difficulty moving videos from the iPhone to my PC. To be clear, I am talking about videos that were taken using the phone, _NOT videos downloaded to the phone_. I'm on a PC, I am using Scanner and Camera Wizard. I've been able to move videos to my PC in the past with no trouble. Now, the wizard gets to 100% progress, sits there for a full minute or more, then pops up a message saying it could not be copied. I've repeated the process each time getting the same results. This seems to have started after the last OS update. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having a similar issue with my Mom's iPhone 4. She has a PC. I was able to move the files off the iphone (dragging and dropping them from the folder to the file of photos). However, the issue now is to sync the photos and video (shot from the iphone) from the PC back to the iphone. It says that there isn't enough room to copy the files. There aren't that many photos/videos. When I uncheck the "include videos" it won't let me sync.

  • Multiple video tracks with the same audio track

How do I get DVDSP to play the same audio track on 3 different video tracks without having to repeat the audio on each of the 3 video trax?
Seems simple, but I can't find an easy way to do it.
    Anybody got any ideas?

Yes they are all one continuous stream with the same GOP structure and everything. I had to export them as QT movies from FCP to get them all the same. I only exported the video though becuase the audio was going to be the same for all the tracks, & it was already done as AC3 through Compressor. Which brings up an interesting question; why does DVDSP convert the AC3 audio to .aiff which is a much larger format?
I'm trying to go back and look at the encoding log from DVDSP to see what error it gave.
It doesn't give the error in the log since I had shut down my computer last night, so I guess I'll have to try the build again and see what error it gives.
I'm looking at the parsing files and .m2v files that DVDSP did during the build, and it parsed all 3 angles, and finished the .m2v file of the medium shot, including 6 minutes past the point I told DVDSP to stop it. (When exporting the QT movie from FCP, I had forgotton and encoded the whole 2:30:00 show instead of the 1st 1/2 of 1:16:47:15, and then just adjusted the end of the clip in DVDSP).
The wide shot and Close up .m2v files, and the audio .aiff file were in the folder, but have nothing in them. The Video_TS folder and Audio_TS folder are also there, but with nothing in them, so whatever happened, seems to have happened in the medium shot encoding process.
I'm pretty much over this multi-angle thing, and I'm going to start working on an edited version of this today because all I have to do is make the cuts between cameras, since the audio is already mixed. However, if you have any other ideas, please let me know.
