Video Playing problem (Zen Vision M 60

I just got my 60gb zen vision M for christmas and i started transfering files right away to test out its playback quality etc
When i get to video particularly my anime video it plays the first 5 or so seconds and then freezes... no sound and no video.
The video is a naruto video from dattebayo fansubs. I think it is divx encoded (will double check to make sure)
What should i do to solve this issue?
I have not tried any other video's as yet but will do so soon

**bleep** it looks like it's slight differences in the encoding of the files that determin whether or not they play
I used Bleach episode coded by Lunar and that worked fine.
If it is down to minor differences in encoding that's causing this problem, surely it should be fixed as soon as possible, because of the massi've amount of different ways of encoding the player isn't really fit for avi playback if it's this temperamental :/
*UPDATE*
I've looked at the bleach file that works and the Naruto file that doesn't work in GSPOT.
There are a few very minor differences that I don't really understand but the one that jumps out at me is the container:
The naruto files that don't work have the container 'Multipart OpenDML AVI, "rec list" style DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI (223 frames in first part, 639 frames follow)' and the bleach file that works is 'OpenDML (AVI v2.0) DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI'
I've bolded what I think the problem is, would those 223 frames (first part) be the 8/9 seconds before it freezes?
Could this be the problem?
*FURTHER UPDATE*
The naruto file that has the line 'First part 223' lasts 9 seconds whereas another file that has the line '(205 frames in first part, 32998 frames follow)' lasts 8.
I'm almost certain this is what the problem is.......any chance of a firmware fix for the avi playback not supporting multipart AVI files?

Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • How do I get videos onto my Zen Vision:

I apologize if this information is somewhere, but I looked all over and can't find it.
I have a Zen Vision: M 60GB, and I really know nothing about it. I'm traveling in a few weeks and I would really like to have some movies and TV shows on my player.
I'm assuming I have to download some type of program. Are there any good free programs I can use? Can you just upload DVD's that you already own, just like ripping CD's, or do you have to purchase them from somewhere online?
    Thank you!

Hey there, ignore what jstarbuck? had to say. I've transferred tons of movies clips, tv shows and such to my M player with no problems so far. The process is painless and rather quick, the only catch is don't use Creative's software, because it does take too long. I can convert a GB tv show recorded from my DVD recorder in about an hour to 320x240 and looks great on the player. I do this to have more clips and movies on the player...about 90 right now. If you search around will learn what to do, learn to be resourceful then you can do more like rip your own DVD's if you "own" them.

  • How can I transfer videos to my ZEN VISION

Hello, I want to know how I can transfer videos to my ZEN. If I put a DVD in my DVD-Reader and try to open it with the Windows Media Player 0, then occured an error, that says there is no codec installed, so I cant get the Videos to my Hard Disk.
I syncronisate all my music with the WMP 0, so I want to do this also with the Videos.
I use Windows XP with SP3.
Could you please help me? Thank You!

That is true you need to convert the files before you can load to player. But you will also need a dvd ripper to get onto the harddri've. I use this to rip Clone DVD+AnyDVD both have free 30 day trialshttp://www.slysoft.com/en/? & anyvideo converter free to convert to AVIhttp://www.download.com/Any-Video-Co..._4-066456.html

I literally JUST got back from the apple store, after they reset my phone because it was freezing. I'm trying to play a video I took and its all choppy and lagging a lot. I've reset and shut my phone off and its still doing that. The video is a slow-mo one, but its also doing that to my normal videos. How do I fix this?

the same thing is occuring on my PC with purchased videos. They are freezing in specific parts throughout the videos. The audio is fine. I am running a new windows vista pc with itunes 7.3.2.6. I have tried playing back the music videos on a macbook and they work fine.

For reformatting (if your sure some guy told you) go to my computer and find your player. It should be one of the disk dri'ves. Right click and press format and you can either do full format or quick format. I dunno if that will del your firmware tho. gl

  • Video Play problems

    Hi,
I have a multistate frame sitting over a video, which is set to auto-play. When I preview in Content Viewer it runs perfectly, when I check it on the ipad the video won't run until tapped. How do I get this video to auto-play, I think multi-state frame over it may be interferring.
    any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks to Harm, Hunt and Stan for your quick responses. I need to absorb each one.
1).MJPG (Motion JPEG) codec is required to view this video clip correctly. This codec is available from Main Concept and Morgan,
I will take Morgan for a "spin" as suggested.
    2) Trail version has everything MPEG disabled and will be enabled when I get the full version,
    3) Single most critcal factor is what codec the clip uses.
I must have missed on the Adobe website the statement that the Trial version does not support anything MPEG. Why would Adobe remove this from the  PPro Trail Version? I was under the assumption that trial is a full version for 30-days and converted to full version by just entering a valid license number.
One other note, why would these same MJPG AVI clips play in PPro 2? I did not add any codecs to the full version. I have about 6 projects that I used these AVI clips in and all worked.  Could it be that I started iwth a full blown version and all the MPEGs were enabled including MJPG? .
Again, thanks to each one of you. Fortunately, being a prior PPro owner, my cost to upgrade is resonable. I've invested too much learning time in this product to move to something else. I'll say this qestion is answered when I can confirm it works.   .

  • RELOAD FIRMWARE PROBLEM ZEN VISION M 3

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RELOADING THE FIRMWARE FOR MY PLAYER. FILE? VERSION .62 02 .DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW LONG THE PROCESS TAKES, I HAVE THE UPGRADING FIRMWARE BOX SHOWING ON MY PC SCREEN . IT SHOWS UPGRADING FIRMWARE PLEASE WAIT BUT FOR HOW LONG, IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF HOURS ALREADY, IS THIS NORMAL. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE THANKS

I asume your charging your player via the USB suply from your P.C and you dont have a creative power adaptor?
most 5 volt power adaptors should work with your vision:M as long as they are as follows:
    Are a regulated supply:
most 5 volt suplys are regulated, but some cheaper uni'versal power supplys are un regulated these typicly have a voltage output selection on them, check the packaging.
Have the coorect polarity, check the pins have the positi've and negati've supy on the correct pins, this is almost always marked on the device and the power supply showing a + and - symbol and a line to the centre pin usualy marked as a dot and the outer pin marked like a C
the correct output voltage, 5 volts DC is whats needed
As for current this is sometimes rated in amps or milli amps (Mah i think) as long as the power supply is powerful enough this shouldnt matter, unlike voltage it shouldnt matter too much, although if you have a multi meter it might be useful to check the output voltage bofore using the power supply.
A suitable alternati've to the creative power supply would be one suitable for another 5 volt device such as a playstation portable.

  • Video on the zen vision

when you're converting your videos which setting do you choose with the creative video converter? Some of my videos look really blocky and pixelated so I think I'm choosing the wrong settings.... please give me some help.

Well there are only 3 settings and "Best Quality" is the one you should use.
That said, I have noticed as well that some video that gets converted also looks blocky.
One reason is that it wasn't such good quality video to start out with (you know the old saying, "Garbage? in... garbage out"). The other reason I suspect is the conversion software doesn't do the greatest job with certain files types/conpressions. If the file you are converting from is very good quality and you want to keep that, you may want to choose a different software solution.
One that I use is the freeware called "Super". It actually is just an interface to 4 software conversion products but it gives you better flexability in terms screen size, bitrate, audio, etc...
I would imagine you would get much better results using it.

  • ZEN Vision M 30GB Video Conversion problem: black scr

My husband cannot display any video on his ZEN Vision M 30 GB. Any video converted comes over with ONLY audio, black screen (? no video display )This happened with the original firmware and software. I updated firmware and did all available software updates; no change. I had a previous ZEN Vision M 30GB, which did not have any problem with video conversion and display. Are there any known problems with specific Media Player versions, or QuickTime ?which may be a potential cause of this problem?( I have heard that this product works best with Media Player 9. )Anyone had similar problems, or have any ideas? Thanks,Ravenquille

Problem apparently solved: Last night, I downloaded and installed the free program, SUPER. My husband has not had a problem so far; been working beautifully! Ravenquille

  • Creative zen vision:M video download probl

I have a new creative zen vision:m devise and I'm having real trouble downloading videos purchased from 7digital.co.uk and itunes. I'm able to convert videos that I either took with a digital camera or downloaded for free easily but wmv files will not convert. I get the error message that either the file is protected, not supported or missing codec directshow(r) despite the fact that the website and Creative user guide suggest that both wmv and mpeg4 files are compatible. Please help! I'm running windows XP

    SOLUTION:
After lots of searching through the web, I have found this solution to our problems regarding transferring purchased video from 7Digital. This doesn't solve the mystery of the missing directshow codec (I haven't got a clue why VideoConverter thinks it is missing as I have just about every directshow/directX pack installed). This process involves making a copy of a copy of the video, but it looks fine to me:
) download and install the excellent freeware application ZD Soft Screen Recorder, available at http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...-recording.htm This is a brilliant resource which will allow you to record video from your computer screen and record the corresponding sound in the same file. It is totally legal as it merely copies an output and does not break any DRM.
    2) Launch ZDsoft and queue up the purchased video in Windows Media Player. Play the video to see the area of the screen it occupies and check 'record specified area' in ZDsoft. Then click 'select an area' and use this tool to draw a border round the area of the screen occupied by the video. Make sure no toolbars or cursors appear inside this border, otherwise they will be recorded too.
    3) In ZDsoft select 'AVI' as the output file, and choose the quality. DON'T choose WMV otherwise you will get the directshow error message again.
    4) Make sure 'record sound' is checked and click the 'settings' tab next to it. Choose one of the 'stereo mixer' options. Select 'start' to begin recording. The window can minimise if you wish.
    5) When the video comes to an end, right click the minimised window and click 'stop'. ZDsoft will then show you where it has saved the file and will ask you if you want to view it. If you select 'yes', make sure you have a media player set up to play .avi files. (Using an up-to-date real player as your default player for .avi files will result in the video then playing back in real player).
    6) Launch Creative VideoConverter. Add the .avi file you have just made to the conversion list and connect your Vision M. Select 'next'. The output seems to be restricted to WMV at 320 x 240 resolution and I don't know how to change this, but this is perfectly acceptable. Select 'crop to screen size' and 'transer to player' (or you can transfer later using MediaExplorer). And voila, you have your video on your Zen Vision M!

  • Zen Vision M VS Video Ipod

<SPAN class=postbody>I've been wondering what the lucky ones that already have bought a Zen Vision M think of it ?I got to upgrade my Ipod Photo and was wondering if i should either go for the Ipod Video or Zen Vision M. Both look like they are good players and i've purchased quite a few models from Creative but resorted to go with the ipod cause size does matter to me plus I must say the interface from what my ZEN NX was a fabulous upgrade. But now I wonder if i should jump back with Creative. I know the ZEN NX is outdated and wanted to know how the new model compared to the 5G Ipod. I understand that few already have one in their hands so I thought this would be the best place to ask.
<SPAN class=postbody>I've looked alot on the net for comparaison websites and i've found so far just one here that gives a Ipod 5G VS Creative Zen Vision M review. Anyone got another more complete website perhaps ? Or perhaps one of you first hand tried both ?Would love to have an honest and unbiased advice.thanks!
    <SPAN class=postbody>
    <SPAN class=postbody>Vinnie

Well, if size is important to you, then the iPod 30GB is your best choice. The new 30GB iPod is less than half an inch thick, which makes the Zen Vision: M nearly twice as thick. The 60GB iPod is only as thick as the iPod mini was.
The Zen Vision: M claims twice as much battery life for video as the 30GB iPod, using 500kbps MPEG-4. Apple's battery life rating is based on H.264 video encoded at 768kbps for video and 28kbps audio. That's nearly 900kb
    ps.
Apple always bases their battery life claims off of what they sell at the iTunes Music Store, and that is what the video they sell is encoded at.
The iPod DOES support H.264 video. The Zen Vision: M does not. This means that you can get a video down to about 480kbps (384 video 96 audio). Go here http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ and test it out for yourself. Video at that bitrate looks fantastic. Much much much better than WMV, divx/xvid, or standard MPEG-4 at that bitrate. You can get the same quality as xvid/divx, or MPEG-4 at half the bitrate with H.264. WMV is just too bad to even look at when talking about those bitrates.
Get the iPod. Use H.264, get better image quality or the same image quality at lower bitrates with longer battery life. Get a smaller player. Be happy.
