Video Playlists Question

When I make a video playlist of favorite videos, the videos only play one at a time, and at the end of each, kicks me back to that playlist's window.
Is there no way for the videos to play one right after the other non-stop, just like my music playlists?

I think by default, videos (and podcasts) are set to "Skip when shuffling". If your iPod is in shuffle mode you can start one item but your iPod will stop if all the other items in the playlist are programmed to skip. Either turn shuffle off, or go into the tags of the videos and un-check the skip feature.

  • IPhone video playlist question

The videos in my iPhone video playlist do not always begin from the start. Any suggestions on how to correct this.

i don't get it. if you have a playlist of songs you want, why not create another playlist of just the songs you want to play at work in a work playlist, which you can then shuffle?

  • Can no longer sync movie video playlist after update?

I recently performed the 3.0 update to my iPhone 3g with no apparent issues. However, I went to play a movie video last night and discovered that only my music videos had synced (all were previously on the iPhone with no problems). Checking the iPhone settings under video I noticed that the tab lists a section for movie rentals and TV shows but does not specifically call out movies that you own. Under tv shows is where I normally expect to select which video playlist to sync for which none were available (even though I have one with 3 movie videos in it). It looks like it handles tv show video playlists only which I have not tested.
This is different from before the update where I could sync any video playlist I wanted. The videos were all downloaded from iTunes so there should be no issues or questions about format and source. Am I missing something? Thanks.

after you connect your iPhone and go to the 'video' tab, if you scroll down, you should see your 'movies' section which should list the 'movie' files you have in the 'movies' section of iTunes. if you select the videos you want to sync, hit save/apply and sync, you should get the videos on your iPhone.
video playlists will only sync files in the 'tv shows' category, not files in the 'movies' category of iTunes. i'm not sure why they did it like this, but they did, and it highly annoys me. my work around is to make all of my 'movies' go into the 'tv shows' category, which i can then add to a playlist and have it synced. more work, but it works...

  • Apple TV video playlists

I'm trying to stream music videos from imac to apple tv. If i drag music videos into a new playlist in itunes and go to the apple tv only videos from apple store show up in the playlist. My personal videos were encoded in mpeg-4 using "vuze" software app to encode into "apple tv formant". I even re-encoded into m4v using quicktime pro (since that is the format from apple store for music videos). I can see the videos in question in "movies" in the apple tv main menu and they play just fine but I want a playlist. All of my apple products are up to date, apple tv is running ver 2.4 Thanks!

Select one, right click and use Get Info to change the file type to Music Video.
You may also need to ensure the Options tab for Get Info has 'Skip when shuffling' or similar unchecked.

  • Apple TV Video Playlists? How do I create one?

Forgive me if this is redundant question.
My boss came to me and wants 500+ short 30 second commercials on an Apple TV unit. Now many these commercials are for a different products.
How do I create a video playlist for each product?
Or can I create sub-folders inside the video tab?
Will the videos be searchable on Apple TV?
I can't seem to figure out how to do this.
    Thanks so much.

Found this after some research on this forum, originally posted by Winston Churchill.
"If your long list of movies/clips includes content that can be grouped together, you can give the group a show name (Get info/video tab).
Doing this will place all the items with the same show name in a folder in your movies list with the show name you have chosen.
This is especially useful for grouping movies such as James Bond movies or multiple home video clips of a single or connected event that haven't been edited into a single movie, where it can replace several entries, thereby reducing the size of the movie list and conveniently placing all similar movies in a single location.
For me, this has reduced my movie list to around 100 entries whereas otherwise it might be quite unmanageable at over a thousand - Most of my movie collection is home video, I am able to group such events as vacations/Christmas/Racing events etc etc etc."
I just verified that this works with My AppleTV and it's exactly what I was looking to do.
    Marking this as solved.

  • How to create/org a Video Playlist?

Hello everyone, I must say I really really like my new (video) iPod 60!! I have "rip" 3 videos into it so far, a recorded off-TV MTV of Madonna's "Hung Up", a recorded "Lost" episode and a DVD of Star Trek Enterprise, they all look good and sounds good on the iPod!!
On the Main Menu > Video > Video Playlist, Movies, Music Videos, Video Podcast & Video Settings; How do you create new Video Playlist? I noticed all my "rip" video are inside the 'Movies' category... I guess only videos like music videos bought from the iTMS would go into the 'Music Video'??
    Thanks all and cheers!!

  • Video Playlist on Apple TV

I can't see my Video Playlist on my Apple TV. I can see them on my computer and on my Ipod, but not my ATV. Is there a reason for this? Do I need to adjust something?

And why doesn't apple have this feature? We have audio playlists because we like to listen to more at a time. That is why we have multiple songs on compact discs. That is why radio stations do not play one song and sign off. That is why we stacked 45s on each other (yes I am that old) to have them play one after another. I therefore cannot take any credit for having this great idea for consecutive videos. But given this historical background, I and others can certainly question why apple does not have this feature on apple tv. The concept is not groundbreaking and the technology cannot be that hard. I hope that the response that "we do not have this feature" or "this question has been asked many times before" is not the official answer of apple because that is pompous and disconnected from the people - apple customers - who make sure that apple employees go home with a paycheck each week.

  • Possible to have video playlists NOT show up in the music playlists tab?

I like how when I go to videos > video playlists, my iPod will show only the playlists that contain only movies and music videos inside.
Is it possible to have it so that the video-only playlists are parsed from the music > playlists tab? That section is cluttered enough as it is, and having empty playlists inside really doesn't help.
Also, anyone have tips for managing large amounts of songs? Since I have a lot of one-hit-wonders, the artist and album tabs has gotten populated with 1-song artists and 1-song albums, making it a pain for browsing through in search of whole albums.
Maybe I could put a symbol around the artist or album to make it higher or lower in the alphabet. From what I've seen, it goes symbols, numbers, then letters. Is there anything I can use to sort alphabetically in iTunes to be below the letter z?

I just remembered something; japanese characters (letters) are sorted by iTunes below the letter z. Accented characters (such as ö) get sorted next to their regular (o is higher than ö).
And so, I think I will go through and find all the albums and artists that only have one song to them and rename them using a japanese character so that they appear at the bottom of the album and artist lists. Should make looking through those much easier.
I would still like an answer to my first question.

  • How do I create video playlists in SmartCenter 2.0?

I have several dozen videos that I can see when I open up the video portion of SmartCenter and sort by Datse, Folders or All Videos however when I select "Playlists" it says "Playlists - No videos could be found" at the top of the screen just below the "Dates, Folders, All Videos, Playlists, etc." bar. It would really be helpful to create video playlists, but how do I get the videos that are showing up everywhere else in the playlist window?
    Any help would be appreciated,

Umm... has anyone pondered a situation for a days if not weeks on end before mustering up the courage to ask for help and then found the solution minutes after asking? Yeah, this is one of those occasions. Weird.
In my defense, the user interface seems a bit obtuse. When you click "Playlists" and then "Create Playlist" at the bottom of the screen you then must click "Dates, "Folders", or "All Videos" to search for videos. The "obtusity" is that it didn't seem intuitive to me that I then had to search in those other headings after I selected to create a playlist. I assumed that the "Create a Playlist" window that then popped up would include all videos in the watched folders. When you see a video you will find that there is a green circle with a plus sign on the upper right corner. Clicking that will add it to the playlist that you are creating. When you're satisfied with the playlist, give it a name and then save it.
    *sigh*

  • Streaming video playlist from iTunes = ATV = TV

I expect this question has been asked, but I could find any specific answers with a search.
Does ATV allow video playlist streaming from iTunes to a TV? I would like to confirm that this capability exists before a purchase. Objective is to have my computer's iTunes feed a TV via ATV for a extended period of time (~8hrs) by playing a video playlist.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks to you both for your comments. Disappointing that a feature that exists (video playlists) on the Classic iPods doesn't exist on the ATV yet. Guess I'll wait until it does.

Video playlists is an often requested feature for those of us who want to watch random music videos or for those who want to use the device to display a consecutive selection or repeating selection of videos.
No harm in sending feedback here, specifying you are not buying it as it doesn't have the feature:

  • Creating Video Playlists & Software for converting Videos

How do I create video playlists on my iPod? If I just add all the videos I want to add, they all apear in the 'Movies' section of my iPod.
    Help would be wonderful!
    My other question, was...
Is there another piece of FREE software that I could use to convert my videos into iPod format movies?
    Besides using:

    Quicktime 7
    Thanks...

I use WinAVI - it's not free but has never let me down. It also does 3GP files for 'lesser' phones.

  • New videos not playing in video playlist

I have a video playlist on iTunes. Whenever I add new videos to it, I never see them in shuffle mode. How can I make these videos "shuffle better"?

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused by your question - which "video playlist" are you referring to? Are you talking about something in a previous iTunes Version?
If you are referring to the "Movies" in 7.0.1:
The videos will only show up in this list if they have the kind "Movie".
To change the "Kind" of a video you can:
    - right-click on the video in your library and "Get Info"
    - select the "Video" tab
    - set the "Video Kind" to "Movie"
If you would like to have a playlist that shows TV-Shows or Music Videos you could create your own Smart Playlist and filter by the Kind to get those....
    Hope that answers your question,

  • Video Playlist driving me crazy!

I have video playlists set up in my 80g 5th G iPod. A playlist sort of implies that you will let videos play, one after the other. I have found that if one of the videos in the playlist was not completely watched (say for example you watched a video and quit in the middle), when the playlist comes to that video, it picks up in the middle where you last left off and not at the beginning like you would expect a playlist to do. I don't have this problem with audio-only (music) playlists. I've looked, but can't find any setting that will make "all videos start at beginning when part of playlist".
Anyone else ever see this? Any suggestions?

that's a good question...when i was trying to get it to transfer earlier --i was clicking all over and then it popped up again --which the second time i tried it and then i was able to get it to transfer.
try playing the clip in itunes and see if it asks again.
just to go over your settings:
right click on your ipod (in itunes), sellect ipod options, under music check automatically update..., under videos check automatically update all videos....
alright i know im gonna sound stupid, but where can i register after i said that i didnt want to :/

  • Re-arranging a play back order in a video playlist

I have a series of video clips established in a video playlist. As I add these clips to the playlist I realized that I want to re-arrange the sequential order these clips play within the playlist. So far it appears that this cannot be done. I thought I present the question to ensure that I have not missed a step. Any advice?

Hmmm, this is cryptic, but from your topic "Song Play Order in a new playlist" I'll guess at your question and answer as follows: In the playlist click above the column of numbers, to the left of the word "Name," so that you see a little black triangle there. Then you can drag individual songs up or down to get the order you want.

  • Videos don't show up on iPod video playlist

Maybe I'm not understanding something, but I subscribe to a coupld of video podcasts. They update fine off iTunes and they synch over to my iPod. The problem is, they don't show up in any of the video playlists. They show up under the 'recently added' list of both music and video files.
How can I get these things to list in the Video Podcast playlist?? Thanks for your help and thoughts!

    Julia,
Do you have a Fifth Generation iPod, or not?
Only Fifth Generation iPods are compatible with any videos, which include video podcasts that you try to download onto it.
So, if you have a Nano, for example, it isn't won't be capable of playing any video files, sorry.
