Videos will not work in Firefox but work fine in windows explorer. why?

I tried to verify my plug-in's and all are enabled. I found where was suggested to remove and reinstall Firefox but that did not fix problem either. I tried to change viewer for videos but still no luck. Not certain why Quicktime doesn't work. Note, videos when browsing will not open but everything else works fine. Videos work fine with windows Explorer, but not Firefox.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Video will not play in IE but works in other browsers

I have a flv video on a page which was placed there using Dreamweaver CS4.  It plays in all other browsers I test it in except IE7. (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) Others verify it dooesn't play in IE7 also.  Doesn't even play when I test in 'preview in browser' while in DW. Page passes validation. Can't for the life of me see why. Any ideas.
    http://www.princetonmarketing.net/new/pmg-production.html

You've got all these references to scripts but I'm  certain you don't need them all.  Is this an older page created in an earlier version of  DW?
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/swfobject_modified.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Try commenting out  the JavaScripts running on your page and then systematically re-introduce 1 at a time to see where the culprit is.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*[[Image:new fx menu]] > Options/Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • Farmville will not load using Firefox, but it will with IE, for over a week now.

Farmville will not load using Firefox, but it will with IE, for over a week now. I have cleared the cache and cookies multiple times, updated flash player, did a virus and malware scan, allowed java script, allowed mozilla in the Windows firewall, contacted Zynga multiple times, and yet Farmville still will not load using Firefox, my main and preferred browser. I'm very frustrated and want this fixed.

Thanks for the advice cor-el, but if you would read the info I posted, I already did that, SEVERAL TIMES. That's not the solution unfortunately.

  • Pandora will not play in Firefox, but it will play in Chrome and IE.

Pandora will not play in Firefox, but it will play in Chrome and IE. In Firefox, it loads the initial Pandora page, which just says Pandora. In Chrome and IE, it then loads the player automatically. In Firefox it just sits there on the initial page that just says "Pandora," and it never loads the player. My Flash Player is updated, and I cleared all the caches... not sure what the problem is. Can anyone help?

  • Videos will not load in Firefox only. Have reinstalled, restored, etc.

Videos (from YouTube, Facebook, websites, etc.) will not load in Firefox. I've tried reinstalling Firefox, restoring all settings to default, disabling all addons, extensions, etc. When I try to load a video, a dark rectangle appears where the video should and my cursor just shakes. In Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc. the videos load and play with no problems, no hesitation, so it must be some setting or some bad file with Firefox, but I feel like I've tried everything.
I'm using Windows 7 on an HP laptop. I've checked my Firefox settings against those on my desktop PC and can find no variances. This problem is driving me mad, so please help.....
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
You can also disable hardware acceleration in Flash: <br> <br>
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.<br> <br>

  • Video will not Play in Firefox 7.0.1

I was getting a blank screen and video would not play. I tried URL Below in IE Explore 32bit and 64bit and video played fine.
I first disabled Flash Player in Firefox went to http://www.weather.com/weather/videos/news-41/top-stories-169/cat-stares-down-mountain-lion-22257 video !
Video would still not play. So I went to control panel in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Programs and Features and removed Flash Player, Note there where several version, one was 10. something and the newer one 11.0.1.152. After renewing I again went to link above and was advised I needed to install Flash Player. I re-Installed from Adobe and verified that it was installed in Windows and received no video again. Note there are 2 versions installed one for 64bit and one for 32 bit but both have almost the same name. One has X64bit and the other has 64 bit. It is noted at Adobe the 64 bit contains both 32bit and 64bit install. I still can view video after re-install in IE 32 and 64 with no problem. Same thing happens at this URL that I view all the time http://www.ky3.com/weather/ video is under Latest Video Forecast. It plays in IE fine.
