View albums for a photograph

First off...I apologize...I accidentally published this in the Book Design area by mistake but I'd really like to have it here - where it should be. I couldn't find a move thread function anywhere...nor a delete one for that matter so I apologize for the cross-post...
I've been slowly wrapping my head around the way in which Aperture stores photos and understand now that there's very little relationship with regards to albums and where the photo is actually stored. I didn't understand that when I started with Aperture entirely so I have a bit of clean-up to do.
I have my metadata showing which project my photos are in but I can't seem to find a way to show me what albums the photo might be included in. Is there a way to show this on a per photograph basis?

It would be great to look at a photograph and be able to see, "oh hey, that picture is in those 5 albums....but it's only supposed to be in 4 of them". Of course, this comes down to my poor organization in the last but I was just looking for a way to make this a bit easier on myself.

It should be possible to do this in Multicam - as long as the soloist's voices can be clearly distinguished - but it's a bit complicated to explain it step by step!

ITunes says "buy this album for full price, or view the offer for a reduced price"

I am trying to purchase an album which contains a song I have already purchased. In the past I've always had to pay full price.
Now a new alert comes up that I have never seen before:
"You’ve already purchased at least one song from this album. You can buy this album for full price, or view the offer for a reduced price."
The button options are:
- Cancel
- Buy Album
- Complete My Album
I tried pressing 'complete my album' and it returns me to the album in the store without purchasing anything.
I assume pressing 'Buy Album' will just purchase the album at the full price.
Which of these options is the one that I should select if I want to "view the offer for a reduced price"?
It's confusing because the button options do not seem to align with the options in the alert text.

Actually, you have 1 other choice if you are not happy with the Share Everything plan. You can receive a subsidy on a new phone, give up your unlimited data and switch to the 2GB for $30 tiered data for your smartphone and keep your current plan. With your data usage, this seems it would work just fine for you.
Unfortunately, if you currently receive an employee discount on your data plan, you would lose it. Discounts are not available on data tiers of less then $50. So at most, your bill would go up a couple of dollars.

View Albums section like Artists

Embracing the change, but I'd like to be able to view albums by release date as it helps me remember what came out when. I've found cmd+j to sort this but I can only do what I did in 10 in the albums section, but its in grid view and don't see an option to change it.
Also wondering if iTunes has finally added the option to rewind/ff 5 or 10 seconds.

How to view albums in grid in one genre?

Is it possible to find a way to view all of your albums in one genre in "grid" view, so that you can see a bunch of albums all within that genre at once? I like the beginning of "grid" view, but once you click on a genre, it changes to a type of list view. The 'rollover' effect when you mouse over one genre is good, but it does not seem to be in a specific order, and then it shows only a few albums (for example about 4 or 5 different out of 148 that exist in that one genre).
Is there a way to see all those albums in that one genre - their cover/artwork - in "grid"? Essentially, I think I'm looking for a view like "icon" view in the Finder, where I'm seeing all the different icons of my albums within one 'folder' of one genre. Can it be done, and if so, how?

Type in the name of the Genre in the search box. All albums containing that text, anywhere, will be displayed. While this may still display the odd track from different genres which use the same words in most cases it should narrow things down significantly.

View Album Art When Playing or When Clicking on a Song

In the past, with previous versions of iTunes, it was possible to simply click on a song and the album art for that song would appear in the lower left corner of the iTunes window. There was an option to have the album art showing either for the song that was currently playing, or for the song that was currently clicked on. I can't seem to find this feature/option anywhere. Is it no longer possible? It would be nice to listen to music, and then click on another, and see that song's album art without having to get info on the song or switch to the coverflow mode.

Yes. I know that. When choosing "View Album Art" then you can view the album art in that little window IF the song is playing. If no song is playing, then nothing shows when you just click once on a song title. In the past, it was possible to just click once on a song title and have the artwork show in that little window.

It used to be in the previous versions.
It's so hard to add new artwork to the music now.

Playing music the screen freezes and if i want to make changes it will not let me.I go to restore factory settings and afterwards i am able to listen,view album covers,and change the type of music i want.Is there a better way to do this? Thx

When playing music on my ipad the screen freezes and i am not able to view album covers or make any changes i am only able to hear what i selected.
This is the third time it has happened since i updated to the new IOS 5.1. It never happened before.
If i go to Summary and restore the ipad to the factory settings then i'm able to run it as normal.
Is this a glitch in the new software,or a problem with my ipad?

I'm finding Multicam, combined with Compound Clips to be extrememly efficient.
I started with 2 different video clips, along with 2 different audio clips.
Layed out both clips side by side (visually, they are on top of each other on the timeline),and made that a single compound clip.
Then I laid out both audio clips on top of each other on the timeline and made those a compound clip.
So now I have
2 original individual Video shots
1 compound video shot of the 2 above side by side.
2 original audio tracks
1 compound audio track
Next I made a multicam track, and added to it all 3 video shots (2 original + 1 compound) And I added the compound audio track. I set that audio track to be "the" track.
It's just a little bit of setup, but really not that bad, and the ability to use the multicam feature to switch between shots, while keeping everything in sync is fantastic!

How do I get Itunes to properly import a cd without making a different album for each song..

I try to import my cds, and everytime it features another artist it creates a new album for that song... how do I get it to imort the album and show as just the album name...

All my tracks are MP3.
In List View, I do not have an Album column I have an Album by Artist column. If I click on this column the albums look right in the playlist on the screen but when I burn to the CD the tracks are not in one folder per album instead they seem to be in folders per Artist then Album, which as one of the albums is a compilation has created about 30 folders.
If I switch on the 'Sort by Album' column it burns the disc as I expected.

Creating different albums for 2 different users

Ok I have my mini set up with an accnt for me (admin) and my wife. I use iPhoto to organize all my photos as a ARCHIVAL system. Keeping track of who is in what picture using albums for each person, different events each get there own album, etc. My wife wnats to use iPhoto to organize our pictures for her scrapbook pages, i.e. certain pictures for certain layouts. I have my library set up as a shared one between our two accounts. She can SEE all the photos on her side, but when she tries to add them to her album, and drags them over to the appropriate one, it snaps them back into place in the library view and doesnt add them to the album. Any reason why its doing this. Does my side have to be logged out? Is it because the photos are already labeled in an album on my side? Please help!!!

None of the above... this is actually expected behaviour. A Shared library can be viewed, not manipulated. Think of it this way: they're your photos, why should someone else be able to use them? Not an issue with you and you wife, I know, but these days people share libraries on unsecured wireless networks and their photos pop up in their neighbours iPhoto!
Some workarounds:
If your wife makes a change to any of the pics, then the changed version will be saved to her library, and so become open for manipulation.
She can also work entirely in your library - a photo can be in as many albums as you like with no duplication whatever. So, imagine if you will, in your Source Pane two folders: Mine and Hers. In the Mine folder is your system, in the Hers is hers.
Finally, if you move the iPhoto Library Folder to the Users/Shared folder, you can share the pics but have two separate libraries. On the Folder change the file permissions to allow everyone access then launch each iphoto in turn while holding down the option (or alt) key. Select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. Result, two independent libraries drawing from the same pics.
Some caveats on that system: only ONE user can access the database at a time. If you both try the chances of db corruption are very high. Secondly, if you import pics into your library they will also have to be imported into hers.

Problem viewing album artwork on video ipod

My problem is that I'm unable to view album artwork on my ipod in full screen, whether it's from the itunes store or if I copy/paste an album cover pic myself. You can see the artwork fine on the left next to the song/artist/album, it's just blank when you want to see it full screen. The thing is that my ipod is Windows formatted and this has only been happening since I got a Mac and have been doing all my itunes/ipod stuff on it. I wanna know if this is normal for a Windows formatted ipod on a Mac or if there is a way to fix this (without formatting it to Macintosh) because all my other songs with artwork that I synced with Windows show up fine in full screen view. Please let me know. Thanks.

Unable to view album artwork

Hi there,
I am unable to use the album artwork feaure to it's full capacity.I am able to view only selected artwork. For example, I'm able to see all the album work from the songs I bought and downloaded from iTunes. But I can't see the artwork from audio cds in which I imported into my iTunes library. I already updated my ipod to 1.2, my iTunes to 4.9 and checked the box where it states "to view album artwork" and still nothing. In addition, I noticed that when I try to view the artwork when I actually place an audio cd in the computer and click on "show artwork" I get the following message "Album artwork is not modifiable."
Before I got the ipod 20gb with color display, I had an ipod 20gb...could that past history be part of the reason why I'm unable to view the artwork??

It sounds like you may not realize that for CD's you add to iTunes yourself, you have to add the artwork yourself as well.
One way to do this is to find the album cover at a web site such as amazon.com. Save the artwork on your computer, a new folder called
i Album covers
might be helpful for this purpose.
Now it's time to get the artwork into iTunes. Select
b Library
in the
i Source List
and click on the
b Browse
icon in the top right corner of iTunes.
Now select the CD in the Browse pane and press the
b Ctrl
and
b I
keys at the sqame time.
After confirming that you want to edit information for multiple items, you will be taken to the
i Multiple Song Information
window. Double-click the large
b Artwork
box and then navigate to the image you downloaded from amazon.com and confirm that's the image you want.
You will now be able to view the artwork in iTunes by selecting Edit menu > Show Artwork and it should be on your iPod the next time you synch with iTunes.

Can I make a random photo album for a photo frame?

It would be great if iPhoto (or Aperture) had an easy Photo Frame function that gave you lots of flexibility in choosing photo options (lie the SmartAbum feature), including a "random" option, AND you could specify the maximum Album size. This would be awesome for creating an Album just for a photo frame. Is there a way to do this? Haven't found it yet...

I always make an album for my photos for a frame then export them at the frame size so as to have the maximum number in the memory available
You could do this and add random photos to it easily by opening the library in photo view, opening all events and dragging random photos to the album

How do I view album artwork in the songs tab in iTunes 11.0?

Before the update, I was able to view album artwork next to song titles in the list view. With the update, I don't know how to do this now. If anybody has found out how to do it, please answer. this is how my itunes looks now

I am having this same issue on my version of iTunes (Version 12.0.1.26) for the PC.
When I go to the album artwork for a particular song, I can no longer select the covers for the song listed - unlike in previous versions of iTunes. There is no blue-highlight that occurs, as you cannot select anything. When I add new artwork, the old artwork goes into the "gallery" portion under the artwork screen... and I still cannot delete it.
This has nothing to do with automatically downloaded artwork.

Shutdown function and view album art by Genre..

Is it only me that would find a Shutdown at end of album function useful? When your lying in bed listening to music, i don't want to have to get up and switch my machine off, i want an option in iTunes that will shutdown my machine at the end of the playlist or Album.. any one else think thats useful?
What about viewing Album art via Genre? When you select a Genre, then click on the scroll album art button it shows the whole of your library!?!?! how stupid! i only want the albums in that Genre!
Grr... how many times i've sent that to Apple as a feature request i have no idea... since itunes 5 i think!! C'MON!

Please add your computer info to your profile using the My Settings link on the right side of the page.
I don't know about Windows, but on a Mac, there is a scheduled sleep/shutdown option in the Energy Saver Preference pane.. There are also quite a few free and cheap options available for download that can do it. If you're on Windows, you might look around to see what options you have.

Not sure where you're selecting the Genre, but if you're talking about the Browse option (the eye icon), when you switch to CoverFlow view, you are no longer Browsing, you are in CoverFlow.
If you switch between the different views (List, AlbumArt, CoverFlow) you'll notice that the Browse function is disabled for CoverFlow.
Of course, you could always create Smart Playlists to group your songs by Genre which would eliminate the need to rely on the Browse function.
