Viewing a Report as pdf/rtf directly from a link, using repository - how?

I'm looking to link directly to a report from an application on another system, with the report being stored in the BO repository.  The reports should be available in both pdf and html/rtf format, with a separate link to each format, and should be displayed alone within the browser (IE - should not be presented within a BO frame).
The person maintaining the report(s) should be able to tweak as needed (font, labels, whatever), and then just save the changed report within BO (or CR - we have both) to have the changes display in the published (pdf/html/rtf) reports.  The developer on the other system should be able to link directly to the report via a simple <a href= > link.
I specifically do NOT want to deploy using the J2EE components, since they are saved to a server directory/folder rather than the repository.
I've looked at web services, but that appears to need to be published with each save, appears to require access to the directories/folders on the BO server (not an option), and puts load on the calling application (not what I want - all the load is to be on the BO server).
I'm not seeing any documentation that indicates (how) this can be done.  Could someone point me in the right direction for this?
thanks!

There is a Consulting Solution called BOInterface that Business Objects Global Services sells and that helps you to achieve what you describe very easily.

  • Unable to view the reports in PDF from Workspace

    Hi Experts,
I am able to view reports using Worksapce in HTML but not in PDF whereas ghostscript is installed on the FR reporting server. Bin and Lib folder of ghostscript are also in PATH of FR host. Please help how can I view the reports in PDF format.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Vivek,
Thanks for your reply. I am using the Hyperion Financial Reporting (11.1.1.3) server on Windows 2003 32 bit and GNU Ghostscript is only available for unix type of OS. On one of our old 9.3.x env on Windows 2003 is working fine with regular ghostscript. So seems issue is something else. Is any log files which I can review and post the error for you ?
    Thanks

  • Print pdf file directly from a folder, Adobe Reader X in  Windows Server 2003

In previous versions of Adobe Reader we were able to print pdf files groupwise directly when selected in a folder.
Now I've installed Reader X on the Windows Server 2003 environment. Logged in as administrator I can still select <Print> by selecting the right mouse button in a folder. Logged in as a user, this is not available.
I checked user-rights and permissions and made sure they have full control.
Someone who can help us in this matter?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
The file menu doesn't show the print option either. We used to work this way, after installing the 9.0 and Reader X version, this option has disappeared from both the File menu and the right mouse button. For other filetypes, for example Excel the Print option is still available and works properly. Logged in as administrator on the serverconsole, there is no problem. So it seams to be something specific to pdf-formats in a server 2003 environment. The userrights are all set on full control (same as administrator).
    Thanks again

  • How to print PDF files directly from SAP?

We have created output that is being saved in a PDF format. We can store it on any drive or send it through email. However, we would like to be able to print a PDF file directIy without any manual intervention. Now users still have to open the file and hit the print button and we want to avoid this. So basically we want to be able to create e.g. a sales order, generate an order confirmation in PDF format and send it directly to the output device that we stored in output master data. I have a feeling it is not possible to print directly because output device has to be like a PDF1 to create the PDF file itself and there is no space left somewhere to store the physical output device. We use ECC 5.

  • Since switching from Chrome, I can't print .pdf attachments directly from my gmail. Please help.

It used to be (in Chrome) that I could view a .pdf attachment in gmail and from there print. Now in Firefox, when I view a .pdf attachment the print option is there and the print dialogue box comes up when I click it, but once I hit "OK" nothing comes out of the printer. I can print emails and other items, so it's not a printer connectivity problem or a problem with the print setup in Firefox. The only items affected are .pdf attachments in my gmail account. I've tried switching .pdf readers and turning off Protected Mode in Adobe. Please help!

What PDF reader r u use and what version is it?

  • I am having issues with opening pdf files directly from website on safari.

i cant open any pdf files from safari. the page goes blank when the link is clicked.
the same, however, can be easily viewed upon and saved on chrome or firefox.

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.

  • Save alv report as excel file directly from program

    Hello guys,
I require this in my work.
I want to save the ALV report tat is to be generated in the filepath that is given in the selection screen (want to save it locally eg: my windows desktop) and in the layout which is also given in the selection screen.
your comments will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Johny

    Hi Johny,
Actually we have an option to download report output in ALV but it does not download the specified on Selection-screen. For this Create on button for Excell download by setting PF status. and use USER_COMMAND event to trigger when u click on the button and download data to specified path.
    1.
    declare events table like this.
    data :
          i_events  type slis_t_event,
          w_events  like line of i_events.
    2.
    Build events table .
    w_events-name = 'USER_COMMAND' .
    w_events-form = 'USER_COMMAND' .
    append w_events to i_events.
    clear w_events.
    w_events-name = 'PF_STATUS_SET' .
    w_events-form = 'PF_STATUS_SET' .
    append w_events to i_events.
    clear w_events.
    3.
pass this events table through REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.
    4.
USER_COMMAND and PF_STATUS_SET call back subroutines should be like this in your case. These are nowhere called using PERFORM statement in ur program.
    5.
PF_STATUS_SET' subroutine should be like this.
    *&      Form  pf_status_set
form pf_status_set    using extab type slis_t_extab.
    set pf-status 'STATUS1' excluding g_extab.
"If you write like above Standard status will be gone.
"For that u have to copy standard status of any ALV program which has standard status.
"1. goto SE41 tcode. give program SAPLKKBL and status :STANDARD_FULLSCREEN .
2.Click on the Copy status button below program is ur program and status ur program status.
    3. After that create your own button for Excel downlod.
    endform.                    "pf_status_set
    6.
USER_COMMAND subroutine should be like this.
    *&      Form  user_command
form user_command using ucomm like sy-ucomm
                      selfield type slis_selfield.
      case ucomm .
        when 'XLS_DOWN'.
        perform download_to_xls.
      endcase.
    endform.                    "user_command

how do I download an pdf file from website on Safari?

Safari will use OSX' Preview to display PDFs unless you tell it otherwise, so I'm not sure what exaxctlyy you are asking...

  • Cannot open small PDF's directly from browser, only large ones

PDF's will not open when you click on it from a website.  It gets "page cannot be displayed".  However, you can right click and save, and then the PDF opens fine.  This appears to only happen for "small" PDF files (< 5kb), while larger files (120KB+) open successfully.
We are using Acrobat Reader 9.1.  We have uninstalled & re-installed Reader with no change in behavior.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Tom Pitts

    Your posting somewhat confused me.
It sounds like you have two versions of Acrobat installed. You say you own Acrobat 9. You also say you installed a version of Acrobat  CS 5.5. Does that mean you installed the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 on your computer as well? There is no such product as  Acrobat CS5.5. CS5.5 would install Acrobat X.
However, if you had installed CS55 you may have to open at least one of the other CS5.5 applications before you can open Acrobat X. That's because Acrobat X is not well integrated into the Creative Suite.
    Am I understanding your situation?
